Honestly this is by far the worst mani pedi I have ever had. I have never been to this nail salon until today and I will never come back. They got me a mani pedi appointment as a walk in, (which was nice) and the technicians didn't seem to be rude or overly busy, which is why I'm so taken back. My cuticles on both my nails and toes were hardly cut, the massage lasted about .5 seconds, and there is red polish not only all over my uncut cuticles but on my hand! The two technicians that worked on me seemed to have gotten in some kind of argument at the beginning of my service which was super uncomfortable, but I guess the bright side is that my mani pedi only lasted a total of 30 minutes. Asked to have nails cut shorter and instead refused, and stated, "they are already short." Then started to massage arm and ask if I was sure I didn't want a massage. At the end, kept asking me for a tip and not to forget. Unbelievable! read more

I give Lavande 4 stars because of the combination of good service and reasonable price. Manicures and pedicures are meticulous. The atmosphere is very comfortable, and the staff is friendly. Although I've never seen kids under 6 in there, they definitely welcome behaved kids, and even offer services for the little ones. Yes, they do ask you to pay before completing the job...but I've never been to a place that doesn't do that. It's pretty common so I don't take it offensively. Total waste of money, first of all after asking the nail technician not to trim my nails short she proceeds to trim them to the skin. Secondly, spent a total of less than 7 minutes on both my hands. Mind you my cuticles were not even touched, she cut my nails short and didn't file them at all... she asked me if I wanted to pay her 15$ for a hand massage. I declined this over priced service and she quickly ushered me to pay her before finishing my manicure. Upon good faith I also included the $10 tip and in disbelief that she was done with out hardly getting started she then quickly polished them and that was that. The pedicure was a little better in the respect that I actually felt like she took care of my toenails at least a little. The entire service with a high pressured need to tip before services rendered and done so upon good faith was $57, a mani-pedi?!! I left with finger nail cuticles still over grown, raggedy at the ends. My toes and nails chipped the very next day!! I will never go back and don't recommend any of you do! read more

Had one the BEST pedicures ever at Lavande by Cindy! Not only was it extremely relaxing (I went on a Sunday morning so it wasn't crowded at all) but it lasted forever. I have since reccomended Lavande to several friends and they have agreed that they do a great pedi. The girls who sit behind the counter are the reason why I would never come back or why any of my friends would either. You walk in and they just stare at you. It's happened about 3 different times now. So rude. It's a shame because they carry cute clothing and shoes. Loved that I found a place that I can go to on my lunch break and that it's super clean (they take the sterilized instruments out of a sealed bag - love it!) and super fast (but doesn't feel rushed). I also could pick up lunch at one of the many places in Strawberry Village for my trek back to the office with my pretty nails and toes. Can't wait to return. read more

I've been to this salon on multiple occasions and have always had a great experience! Hafsa at the front desk has great customer service and is very accommodating(I cannot speak for other front desk personnel as she is the only one I've come in contact with). The nail polish section is modest but the mani/pedis are always top quality and can easily fit into a lunch break! They always have refreshments. I would recommend you make an appointment in advance because they are very busy and can rarely accommodate walk ins in my experience. Even with an appointment you usually have to wait a few minutes, but I have no problem with this. read more

DIfferent, having a setting in a boutique setting. It was clean and active, not relaxing. The technicians spoke to each other, not to me. And of course, not in english. They wear rubber gloves, a good idea if the intent is to prevent germs but they do not change the gloves between customers. My techs gloves had nail polish on it as she started on me. I'd rather bare hands that are washed. It was organized and professional, the products used are better than average and you have choices in the types of mani/pedis. This place always delivers a consistently good mani pedi, and the staff are always friendly. Yes, it is somewhat of a no frills environment compared to some of the nail spas over the bridge, but the open pedicure setup allows space for you to sit with friends, and they have awesome massages and add ons. And maybe more importantly, they have EXCELLENT hygiene standards. For me, this is the most important factor. My friend and I had a girls night out for a mani pedi and we went to Lavande. We paid $40 for what turned out to a bad $5 nail change. We got NO massage, they soaked our feet in COLD water for 30 seconds to a minute at the most, they didn't clean our nails, horrible paint job with only one coat when asked for two, we had to ask for what we shouldn't have needed to ask for, they were rude, pushy, and rushing us to pick nail color. So basically after this experience we will never be coming back to Lavande and you shouldn't either. read more

Lavande has a reputation for rude front desk staff- that is a given. But Naomi, who gleefully told me she was the manager today (insinuating when I asked her name that I shouldn't bother complaining since she's the boss - yikes) takes the cake as the rudest I've encountered so far. If you can't do a manicure because I don't have an appointment, fine. Just tell me that. Don't have me sit around and wait for "15 minutes" when you mean half an hour, that's all. And definitely don't tell me if I'm in a rush that I should "just just go ahead and leave." Because I will, permanently. And for the record - I never raised my voice or was in the least bit rude. The one star is for Ivy- she's the best (does waxing). Owner take note- your front desk hiring practices need some work! And have for years. You're losing customers who formerly put up with kind of rude/inept front desk staff who were willing to deal with that because of the easily accessible locations/relative ease of getting an appointment. We experienced the same problem with a gift card that another customer shared in a review. My daughter took a gift card in that had not been used. They told her it had $14 on it. I would not have purchased a gift card with an amount less than the cost of a manicure. It was from Christmas so of course, I didn't have the receipt. Sketch! I will not be purchasing any more gift cards from them. My daughter used it to pay $10 for gel removal....yes, they charge $10 to remove gel polish. Very good experience overall...best I've found in Marin. Bench seating is similar to the others in the chain, mani/pedi is reasonably priced and lasts, and service is good. However, their choice of colors is a bit lacking -- many of the bottles are nearly out of polish and they don't seem to have back ups so you're forced to go to your second or third choice (seems like an easy thing to fix!). This is the place to go if you want a super efficient nail salon - we came in and two people worked on each of us and we were done with a mani/ped in less than an hour. We felt really rushed and my mom's toe nail and cuticles were cut too short and it was painful. The nail woman did not speak to us at all and we felt as if they were talking about us behind their back. My mom likes to try out many colors before choosing her favorite and she felt like they didn't give her enough time to do this. We did like the set up of the studio - it could be really fun for a mani/pedi party!! - and when we called to complain about our experiences we were given a refund. Horrible experience, front desk is nice people and do a good job but all that changes once you meet with nail techs they are very philthy. Rushed out mani pedi after you have waited for 30 minutes. I was a walk in and asked the nice girl in front desk if i could get a mani pedi she told me can you come back or wait 15 min i didn't have a problem but then Loan (a very anoyying and rude nail tech) tells me they could take me in right at that moment and i got very happy but little did i know i was going to wait almost an eternity for a mani pedi, and let me tell you the nails techs don't feel bad at all for making you wait and god forgive you complain because they will atack you in the own language and start gossiping about you. Never have i gone to a place where the nail techs are more worried about chatting it up instead of doing their job and thats not all they are very philthy they are always sleeping they walk around touching their butts. And right when i thought things couldn't get worse they did.... Once i was leaving i was literally harrassed by Loan & Hien (im writting their names out so people watch out for them) to give them tip money and they expected more than 10 dollars each!!!! Lavande do you know how crazy this makes your costumers to have to leave your shop harassed by your employees. Never going back again !!! This place is a nightmare. read more

They are all uneven and not straight. She also cut my nails way too short. They also asked us strange questions that sort of made me uncomfortable. This place must be a front for something. It just doesn't seem possible that a place this terrible could stay in business. They are aggressively rude. I don't mean DMV rude. I don't mean just having you wait or ignoring you. I mean in your face rude. Snapping at you, roughly tapping/slapping your limbs to get your attention, sighing and eye rolling, interrupting you, talking very loudly and laughing with their friends during so-called spa treatment, completely ignoring direct questions. They find the very presence of customers to be a huge annoyance, and the pedicures look like they were done by an 8 year old. I used to go to their location on Polk - great team; fun environment but they closed down. The salon in mill valley is filled with technicians who clearly hate their lives. It's by far, one of the most unpleasant environments I have ever been to. Not only the technicians are outright bad at their jobs but they also hate their jobs. Note to the owner: clean house and hire new people - from the receptionists to the technicians. It's obvious that you're putting a lot of money and effort into the business - your employees are working against you and if you don't pay attention, you'll have to close this location down as well. I didn't check the reviews before going here! I took my mom for a mani-pedi. Both of us got good pedicures, but the manicures were pretty bad. My mom only got one coat of paint at first and she had to ask for another coat and a top coat. My manicurist had an awful attitude. I went to this salon right when it first opened and met the owner (Erik?) and got a sense of his passion for his business and also his likable attitude. He was very friendly and excited about the opening. I had a mani and it was great!! I have since been back a few times and sadly each time the results have been declining. I hesitate to write this review because I know it does have impact. Having said that....It feels like the objective to give superior manis and pedis has long faded. The receptionists are nice but a little snobby (snooty, snotty, pick any) yet still helpful; but the manicurists are just going thru the motions robot-like. Yesterday (sorry I started this review months ago and didn't finish it, was here in like July?)I had a pedicure that took 20 minutes! It was described as a "pampering" multi-phase service with a "free" sugar scrub and callus treatment. The scrub was on and off in 1 minute and the callus remover didn't happen until I asked the technician to please do it even though I didn't have mega calluses. She obliged me but again slapped it on and rubbed for about 10 seconds and wiped it off. I know that you are supposed to let it sit on the skin for at least a few minutes to let the product work and soften your skin before using the foot pumice.(I'm a former Manicurist!) I really consider spending 26 bucks a treat during these TUFF economic times and I feel like I received a getcha in and out service. The polish was chipping the next day and were not painted on the ends, and I just felt like it was all about getting my money and not at all about providing even an "average" pedi. There are too many other places to go for a really good (Betty's in Mill Valley) And final note...I'd rather not have a "free" anything (scrub, callus remover, ETC.)..Instead, just give me a really good Pedicure and save the fancy marketing words for Mercedes and Itunes! Sorry folks, but 20 minutes is NO "PAMPERING" Pedicure! A truly good, through and pampering Pedicure takes 45-60 minutes and includes a smile and a clean polish application. read more

Disappointing experience! Been a loyal customer over the years and was given a loyalty card. When I had filled it and went all the way to Mill Valley to redeem it - I was told they no longer do this program so the card is no good. Surely they should honor the cards they have already distributed that meet the original requirement, even if they no longer give out the cards. Be warned! The esthetician at Lavande who did my pedicure cut my toe so deeply that i could not stop the bleeding for a while. On top of that, she tried to hide it and stuck my foot back into the dirty water. I was seriously scared for days that it will get infected as it was hurting a lot. Thankfully it finally healed. The front desk person told me that she notified the owner who will be contacting me; however, i did not receive any calls. A while ago this place was great, then it was good, then it was OK and now - well less than OK. It used to be super clean... now only OK. nothing looks like it has been cleaned in a while. Most of the nail technicians are either sleeping in the private nail area - not not their break room - but a set aside private nail area or socializing with each other in their own language. When they had Ivy and Brandy working there you got great service - now not not so much. I have gone for the last time. Last week, I watched a women get a neck massage (extra service) where the tech was using one hand hand for the massage - The other rubbing her eyes which were closed. She looked to be barely moving. The technician who was doing my nails was going as fast as she could, but it sure wasn't because anyone was waiting for service - it was a ghost town - I guess it was because she was missing her afternoon nap. I had to re-file my nails afterward because they had sharp hangnails... and the polish was sloppy and uneven and all over my skin... For $35 for a gel manicure, I left feeling like i burned a hole in my wallet from poor service. The paint was uneven, and the woman didn't speak english enough to even understand the color I was asking. I said silver, and somehow to her that meant white... There is even a hair embedded in the polish that I can't get out... Gross... The whole experience was uncomfortable because I did not want to correct her or feel like a jerk telling her she misunderstood, but the whole time she kept asking questions and it seemed like she had no idea what she was doing.
