It was not made clear beforehand at all that I would be charged for it. Edit: To be clear, my "outrageous" comment is in regards to the original appointment, NOT the consultation I seemingly received AFTERWARDS. I feel that the services are overpriced, but that is not the reason I am making this review. Nor am I arguing whether or not it was a consultation, or what is the correct term to use for the regimen handout. I am stating that it was NOT made clear that that was what was happening or that I would be charged for it. The whole point is that I was unaware it was a "full consultation." I highly recommend improving communication at this establishment. In summary, I never booked a consultation, nor did I ask for one, and there was most certainly miscommunication on the part of the employees. I did not make the realization until I was charged for it, and at the time did not know how to advocate for myself, so I simply paid and left, but that was not fair to myself. Hence, this review.

I've been going exclusively to Yvonne for skin care for about 10 years (this is her new location, co-located with Michele's Hair Care but independently owned). I won't let anyone else touch my skin! As if amazing skin isn't enough reason to see her, setting aside time to see Yvonne is like a mini-vacation. She is warm, funny, positive, and a wealth of information when it comes to all aspects of holistic skin care. She is a breath of fresh air, and I always feel blissfully content when I leave her treatment room. Her products from Jean D'Arcel are top of the line, the best I've ever tried; if I run out of something, my skin definitely registers the difference when I use a temporary substitute -- but fortunately, that is easily cured by another visit to Yvonne! While the Jean D'Arcel line may not be priced as cheaply as drugstore products (with correspondingly cheap ingredients), they are not nearly as expensive as some of the other "high end" skin care available out there, and very importantly for me, tested for safety by strict European consumer protection standards but *not* tested on animals. What more could you ask for? Yvonne also does an excellent job at brow tinting and waxing; she has a feather-light touch and perfect technique (I have pretty sensitive skin, and never had any issues whatsoever). I've never waxed anything else ;-) but you can bet that I would trust Yvonne over anyone else to do the job professionally and thoroughly! An added benefit of seeing Yvonne is that she is highly educated in many fields -- from her professional degree in skin care and cosmetology, to Ayurvedic techniques, to holistic nutrition, to massage therapy, and even oncology skin care -- and she is more than happy to share her knowledge if you are interested. One last thing -- Yvonne's location inside Michele's Hair Care is great! You can easily schedule an appointment online (through the salon's website); the salon is in a cute little house; the atmosphere feels private and friendly; and parking is easy (plenty of free street parking, plus a small lot in the back).
