I needed a last-minute wax and found Skin Solution the night before my appointment which I found through the Vagaro app. This was my 1st time going to Skin Solution and I am always skeptical with new waxing places but thought I would stick w/my appointment after googling this place and seeing how nice it looked and found great reviews online. Upon arrival I was met by Kim (the owner) who was very friendly and followed COVID protocols. She checked my temperature, had sanitizer available, air purifiers going, and wore a mask (as did I) the entire time. She made me feel right at home and honestly made the entire process seamless. We had a nice conversation throughout, she told me how she has over 27 years in the business and asked me about myself. You know when people ask you about yourself, but they don't really care to hear the answer, they think they are just polite with asking? Well, this was not that. Kim was genuinely interested in what I said which made me feel like I knew her, and already liked her! She gave me a lot of tips/tools for making my skin healthier based on what she could see from our time together and was nice enough to shed some light on what facials are and what I would expect if I ever decided to have my very 1st facial! Kim also does ear piercings which is great to know (I have over 10 piercings myself) so this place was so right for me. She also sells products which I saw when I walked in, but she was not trying to sell them to me like some places do as soon as you walk in the door. I am rating my experience a 5 because it surprised me how comfortable I felt and to top it off, how fast and precise Kim was with my wax request. I wanted to finish my review. I got my eyebrows waxed here awhile ago. I remember that after we were done with the wax she asked me if I was thinking of dying my hair. I thought that's an odd question but I answered maybe. She then proceeded to tell me my grey hair was aging me and I should dye it. I knew then and there I would not be coming back again. Wish I would have had a better experience here because it's super close to where I live. My eyebrows looked ok but not worth going back for any more unsolicited critique of my appearance. read more

Went to Kim for ear piercing and she was wonderful! My ear piercings had closed so she just reopened them. Originally I thought she would need to re-pierce it but she managed to avoid my going through extra pain (and she didn't charge me for the piercing!). She is very sweet, patient and knowledgeable. We saw Kim for ear piercing. My daughter had previous holes that she let close due to repeated infections. Kim was extremely gentle and worked so carefully to make sure that the holes were placed correctly. My daughter is needle-phobic and Kim put her at ease. I so appreciate her patience in explaining everything to make sure that she heals better this time. The treatment room was large, clean and well lit. I don't usually write reviews but I feel like I should share this with all the moms in their 40s. I have two active boys and is always outside. I am of Asian decent so my skin tends to have sun spots. I take care of my body but never took my face seriously. I have been noticing a lot of dark spots and sun spots are apparent. So I went to see Kim and asked her to help make my face look healthier. I have been seeing her off and on for over 6months and I am seeing a huge difference! I've been getting brazilians for about 3 years and have tried multiple salons. This was my first time getting waxed at Skin Solution and it was the best waxing experience I've ever had. I went to Kim about 3-4 times to get my eyebrows waxed. The place is kinda hard to find and really small. Parking sucks most of the time. Kim is very nice and is very quick. My eyebrows were just ok. I've only been here once to get a second earlobe piercing, but the service was great! Kim was very funny and down to earth - she didn't seem uptight and constantly cracked jokes after she'd taken me into a quiet room (nice ambience, lovely decor) and began prepping her tools. As I'd already gotten an ear piercing many years before in elementary school, I wasn't scared/anxious/worried about this next one, except for the fact that the earrings may end up too close together. She spent a lot of time making sure everything was even, marking and remarking the spots and asking me to double check every time. If I wasn't satisfied, she didn't seem annoyed when I spoke up and listened to my requests intently. After the job was done, she'd given me a spray bottle and the regular container of the cleaning solution for your ears and instructed me on how to best sanitize the piercings! She'd given me a ton of advice that I wouldn't have known if I'd just read the instruction manuals. Overall, it was a very professional experience, one that I wouldn't have gotten at Claire's piercing station, and I'm glad that I came here to get the job done :) Kim was very fun to talk to and treated me well! read more

I took a chance on this business after finding it online. I got even better care and service than I expected. Kim is a whiz! I haven't been going to Kim for long but the difference I've seen is quite tremendous. Try her new facial treatment called rezernate where she infuses products.. Kim customizes it just for your skin needs. Kim blends a cocktail of different ingredients on to my skin then uses this wand to infuse products. It is definitely more hydrated. Kim is an excellent aesthetician. She has been taking care of my face for over 10 years. She is consistent and caring without being too syrupy. I can't stand it when I feel like someone is sucking up to me in the hope of a big tip. Kim is very thorough and professional and she tells you off if you haven't been taking care of yourself! I am shocked to be the first to review Kim! She's been managing my eyebrows for about the past 4 years (I admit, I've strayed in a pinch, but always go back!). I am not usually one to write yelp reviews (in fact this my first one) but upon looking for a new place to get a wax in the menlo park area I was very disappoint to see Skin Solution as a top option. I have been here a couple times, and it is as if each service was worst than the last. First, I went here for eyebrow tinting and came out with dark, nearly black, eyebrows as the dye stained my face. I have never had this happen any other time, and she sent me home with caterpillar eyebrows and told me to try rubbing it off myself in the shower. About a year later in a desperate case I returned for a brazilian wax and oh my god I will never forget it. She used STRIP wax on my bikini area and it was the most painful wax I ever experienced. She could see the pain I was experiencing, but insisted it was my fault for waiting too long in between waxes. Perhaps I was a rare case (twice?) because the rest of her reviews seem great. But I do not want any one else experiencing black caterpillar eyebrows or a terribly painful wax like I did! read more
