This place is just taking advantage of people. I scheduled a general cleaning and was quoted over $600 for other procedures. They then provided me a comparison of costs which would and would not be covered by insurance. I called my insurance to confirm and they told me they never received anything from them. I learned WE have to request they send a pre-treatment estimate in for the claim to be reviewed prior to services. It's infuriating places like this take advantage of patients who don't have a general understanding of dental procedures. Luckily I called my insurance because something just didn't feel right and NO WAY should a cleaning cost over a thousand dollars. read more

I was double charged my monthly bill during the month of April and requested a refund for the second charge. Was advised it takes up to 2 weeks for a refund to be processed, called back after 4 weeks of still not receiving a refund. Was told the refund had BARELY been processed and it will take another additional 2 weeks for me to receive it. We're now in August, I have yet to receive a refund or hear from anyone in regard to it. At this point its my loss. As many times as I had spoke to a representative I just feel that's very unprofessional. When asking if I could just come in to receive my refund it was brought to my attention that the office does not handle billing transactions and there wasn't anyone I could speak with. Rarely do i leave a scathing review, but Laveen Modern Dentistry earned every bit of a 1 Star review.. I am not at all surprised their reviews are so low. Today took the cake. I am a caregiver for a 95 year old lady that was scheduled to have major dental work at 2 pm today. I called to confirm her appointment not once but twice this morning as it is not an easy feat to get a 95 year old to her appointments. Confirmation was for 2pm. We showd up to the office at 1:50... doors were locked, lights were off. I figured they were at lunch so we waited, and waited and waited. 2 pm rolls around... no sign of anyone. Lights still off... doors locked. I called the office multiple times hoping to speak to someone... all I got was an AI assistant who was absolutely as useless as this practice is. It was 113° outside. No signage to say our office closed for an emergency or anything of the sort. No call to us to cancel her appointment. Google says their office hours are til 4 pm. They never answered after repeated calls all day today. Might I add that her procedure today, was prepaid in FULL. It has been one disappointment after another with this office. I need to see a periodontist and Dr Iskander has great and patient reviews from lots of people. i called the office and was told i needed a referral from my dentist. i have the referral but still can't make an appointment because i also need a recent panoramic image and periocharting. This is going to further delay my treatment. If staff can't be bothered to provide accurate information about documentation needed for an appointment they should not be staffing the phones. I was in the office for almost an hour before the dental hygienist came to poke at all my gums. The dentist had already come in for 3 whole minutes to tell me my teeth looked good. This was first time ever coming to this dentist. There were no questions about my dental history or anything. Then comes the hygienist to do a periodontal check. It wasn't painful. Then said due to my numbers I needed a deep clean. I declined and said a normal cleaning is all I want. That is not an option here. I was shown a dot on my X-rays where I was told it was plaque under my gums, but it wasn't near my molar. It was just floating. I again declined the deep cleaning. They seemed genuinely surprised that I declined. My two children went last week. My youngest took 90 mins and my other took 2 hours. I allowed them to do the deep cleaning on her because I was half asleep (night worker) and thought it would be best to get my kids teeth done. I was told they had two cavities but then they put sealant on her teeth. Why wouldn't you do that until the cavities were fixed? I also got estimates of all the dental work they suggested. Both are close in age. For wisdom teeth, one was $850 and the other was $1350. The younger child's anesthesia was much cheaper than the older child. That just didn't make sense. I will be looking for a second opinion as I felt there was either their way or not doing it. I see some reviews that they are great so I will only say I guess you have to check it out on your own. But be prepared for the longest dentist visit ever. One shoutout though, the very nice lady that did the X-rays was very pleasant. read more

If I could give it half a star I would. I've been going here for a few years. I called recently due to pain in my right lower quadrant. The girl in the phone told me that unless I did the deep cleaning recommended a year ago, they could not see me for emergency pain. I asked again to make sure I understood and she said yes. I need to be seen and pay for a cleaning ($1200), then I could get my pain resolved. Then she goes on to say because I had total knee replacement 4 years ago I would need medical clearance. Definitely avoid! I've been pushed and oversold on different procedures every single time. Recently, LMD recommended a wisdom teeth extraction even though my teeth hadn't been hurting. The reviewed price point was about $600-700. When I showed up for my surgery, they claimed that their surgeons were 'in the process of getting verified' by United Healthcare, and this procedure would now cost $1,606. They refused to return my deposit, claiming that they had called and left a message 3 days earlier. There is proof that I called back 4 times, and spoke with a representative from the clinic, who said someone would call back again. No call back, and a surprise bill on Monday morning when the surgery was supposed to happen. Extremely unprofessional and dodgy. A claim will be made with the small courts tribunal. read more

They got me to come in saying $59 for routine cleaning exam and X-ray. After 3 hours of painful X-rays (there device they stick in your mouth is the most uncomfortable I've ever experienced) then checking my gums saying they were filled with bacteria measuring at a 3-4 and I had a cavity and chipped teeth, when I just came to risas and they said I was a 2-3 all around no cavity or "chipped teeth". I mean come here if you want but they really tried to run me for over 5k for some bs. Also the place is called modern but all their equipment is not modern at all. I don't know what happened, but once upon a time I loved Laveen Modern Dentistry. The customer service and professionalism has gone down hill over the years. The individuals at the front either don't listen or can't tap into common sense at times. There is one person in particular who will get a funky attitude when you're trying to explain things to her. I have switched to another dentist office to keep my blood pressure down, but I have family members that are still struggling with this place. I recommend Lynette as a good hygienist, and Dr. Patel is okay too. However, if you schedule with a particular person your appointment is likely to get switched to someone else without notice (to accommodate others). read more

Went in for an emergency service to get my aching tooth check. My other dental clinic that I usually go to did not have any openings today, but this place was able to see me. Got seen by Dr. Wiesner. He was very rude to me and told me he was wasting his time. This is very unprofessional and uncalled for to be treated like this by a dentist for a tooth ache when again my original dental office did not have a dentist in today. I see why this dental office has 2.5 stars. So I went today at 9:45 am for a walk-up appointment. I asked to schedule an appointment. The front desk shared she could squeeze me in today. I filled out all electronic paperwork and returned in 5 minutes her tablet. Then waited until 10:40 am, at that point I had gone back up to ask to reschedule since it had been past 40 minutes. The rep said no they will be right out. I then went outside to wait. After 20 more minutes (11 am), I called the office from my cell and asked if we could reschedule, she said that someone had called. I had no voicemails. She said to come back in. I walked back up from my car (11:15, checked back in - she said Amy will be right with you. I waited another 25 minutes (11:40), I was taken back to do x-rays. After that was completed, I was taken back to another room to have a scaling exam to assess which cleaning I needed. Before the scaling exam, the dentist Dr. Patel came in, he was unable to see Xrays because the computer was down, so he said he would go look in another room and return back. No one returned after about 10 minutes, then 3 different hygienists kept coming in asking me if I had seen the dentist over the next 10-15 minutes. Finally, a hygenist came in who seemed very nervous about her delivery, during the exam, the rep's computer was down and 2 people did not know how to input the data. After the scaling, she said she will have someone come in to cover costs. After about 45 minutes later, I got up and walked around and asked if there was a reschedule option because I had been here about 3 hours now with no cleaning completed or pricing shared, etc. So the hygienist looked around asking people and then she said hey let me take you to the front so they can help you --- I spoke to Claudia and she said she just got Metlife Insurance information (although provided at 9:50 am), so it would be a while for her to put together some pricing. I asked to reschedule where they could actually move forward, she said she would just email me and then I could respond to the email. This was my first visit to this office, so this was truly disappointing and I would not recommend anyone go here period. I will still have to follow through for the sake of getting the treatment, but I will definitely be looking for another dentist's office. read more

I just want to say I have dual insurances Laveen Modern Dentistry told me I would have to pay 895.00 extra for a root canal and crown. I went to another dentist for second opinion, the tooth in question only need the filling changed. No charge because my insurances will cover the DO on tooth 7. So buyer beware. Also I was a dental assistant for 20 years.My recommendation is always get a second option so you are not ripped off. I would not give them a 1 star very dishonest. When I was in the office for my husband's root canals in the beginning of April I made an appointment for myself to have a checkup and cleaning at a later date. I had scheduled it for today after work. I received a call today at 11:31am that stated that they have left several messages with me and have not been able to confirm my appointment so therefore it was cancelled. I never received any calls, voicemails, texts or emails about them needing to confirm my appt. I filled out my patient profile online yesterday which I would think they would be able to see. Why would someone fill that out the day before their appointment if they were not planning on coming?   I have never even heard of a dentist or doctor's office calling to confirm and if no answer cancelling an appointment. I have only heard of calling to remind of an appointment and you usually have 24-48 hours to call and cancel before said appointment. This is such an inconvenience and disservice to the patients/customers.   When I called them back within 10 minutes I was told I couldn't get my appointment back because there wasn't a hygienist in the office??? How!? If I had an appointment 10 minutes ago how was there magically no one available? Ridiculous! All this after us shelling out too much money on my husband's root canals. I have said nothing but nice things about them to co-workers but I am now I'm letting all of them know, and you all know, not to bother going. Don't go to this dental clinic! They make you wait and they charge you $1,864 for x-rays and cleaning. They also misdiagnosed the treatment that my tooth needed. Now I am left with a temporary cement front tooth. It has made me distrust all dentist so I am now on a hunt for an honest one. My insurance wants me to pay $518 that is not covered. First visit to Laveen Modern Dentistry. Definitely my last visit. I had a toothache and they scheduled me for an emergency appointment- in three days! The staff was extremely friendly and explained everything thoroughly. While waiting for the dentist, I checked Yelp and read that they like to overcharge. Coincidentally, my wife texted me right them and advised me not to get the $1500 crown but opt for the $700 crown. Hmm. I listened to all their advice, scheduled the work to be done, while planning to get a second opinion. They were going to do it for...$5000! For one tooth! I called two days later to cancel the appointment. Rosa asked why and I told her they were overpriced. She said: "All you had to say is you wanted to cancel. You don't have to be rude about it". This place is horrible. This is my second bad experience with them. I have a very busy job and specifically arranged my calendar so I could make this appointment. I e-checked in for my appointment, arrived on time, had the receptionist confirm everything was good and took a seat in the lobby. My appointment was at 2pm and in 20 minutes they took 3 other people back before me. At 30 minutes I asked if I was going to be seen and the same receptionist asked what my name was. No apology, no explanation, just that she would check. As I was sitting down, I overheard them asking each other what was going on with my appointment. I asked them to cancel and I walked out. This the second time I experienced this, the first time the "manager" placed the blame on me for having to fill out paperwork and that they were backed up, to which they also rushed my cleaning. TERRIBLE service and shame on them for wasting peoples time. Luckily for me I can rearrange my schedule but what about the patients that have to take time off to make these appointments??? Please do not go to this business, the way it is managed and their patient care is horrible. Also I didn't find this out until venting to my family but they too each had similar and some even worse experiences here as well. After you go get your assessment from this office I highly suggest you shop around I was in there I had some serious issues I was told by the dentist I was going to need some extensive work crowns Bridges yada yada yada never once did the dentist offer to save and patch up my teeth instead she went All In with a treatment plan running almost $8,000 so naturally I was left wondering a lot so I decided to shop around and I'm glad I did there are dentist out there that really want to help you they want save you money they actually care about your well-being somewhere I'm sure they took an oath before they became with dentist and believe me my 2nd opinion stood firm on that oath! I ended up having one tooth extracted the other teeth were patched-up built up, I ended up only getting 2 crowns,and with everything my dental plan roughly costing me just under 1700 I was over joyd with my results. This office continually changes the pricing for treatment plans. And they often do it AFTER the work is done. They always give one quote and then present another that is usually hundreds (sometimes thousands) of dollars more than originally discussed. Dr. Patel is nice and says they'll work with you, but when you speak to the office staff it is a different story. They never seem to know what the other hand is doing. They've left me in a horrible position and now I have to scramble to find a solution. They've lost my business and I encourage everyone to stay away from them as this has been happening for years. I have been to this office twice for semi-annual cleanings, and was impressed with the cleanliness of the office, and the dental hygiene staff. If it were only for regular cleanings, I would give the office four stars. However, the dentist is known to recommend work that is unnecessary and costly. When I was presented with "urgent" dental work that totaled more than $3,000, I visited another dental office that has been voted to "Top Docs" by the Phoenix Magazine and was informed that no dental work was necessary, or even recommended. A few months later, my husband was also informed by Laveen Modern Dentistry that he needed work totaling $2,700. After getting a second opinion through a Phoenix Top Doc, he too learned that his teeth are in great condition, with no recommended work. A friend had a similar experience. The Office Manager Michelle APPEARED to be very nice & friendly, but is EXTREMELY rude, unprofessional and ARGUED with me because I told her 10K was too much for me to pay at the time. I'm not at the poverty level, but I can't afford to drop a 10K bill at a NEW PATIENT APPT. The dentist, Lindsay & Assistant Amy were VERY NICE, SWEET & PERSONABLE. Amazing Ladies! If it weren't for my experience with Michelle, I would recommend this place. But, if someone is going to be working in my mouth for a minimum of 2 years, due to my desired ortho treatment, they're going to need to have I had a new patient appointment at Laveen Modern Dentistry yesterday, once it came to review the costs of my treatment, I expressed to the office manager, Michelle that I was unable to pay the amount of the treatment. I told her I may need to go somewhere that I can afford, but I would return for Ortho care. Michelle, the office manager, said that they wouldn't see me upon return. That it's frowned upon to hop from dentist to dentist. No dentist is going to follow up after another dentists' care and told me that she could remove the "optional" items from the treatment. Once, she removed all of the non-required items, the price went from $1032 to $332! I told her I would be able to pay that but all in all, some of the other things that I needed done which totaled 10K, I'd have to go where I can afford. Dentist, Lindsay was in the office at this time when Michelle responded, "I'd be surprise if you can even find anything, good luck with that! You're trying to get me to change our prices and our prices are very competitive and I'd like to know where you're talking about going?" I responded, "I do not have to tell you anything and I don't want you to change your prices. I am a single mother with a disabled son and a young daughter, I can't afford 10K of treatment right now." Even after disclosing that, Michelle continued to argue with me for an additional 10 minutes about the pricing. I told her I have NEVER been in ANY medical office that questioned, ridiculed and argued with a patient because they expressed prior to treatment that they wouldn't be able to cover costs. My husband and I have been patients for about 6 months. We've had 2 cleanings so far and some fillings done. We picked this place because it's down the street from our house but other than that there's not any special reason we come here. I hate getting X-rays done of my mouth, it's so invasive, yucky, & awkward. Amber was amazing at making me feel comfortable. Thank you! Some of the things I don't like~ 1. The scheduling is not to my liking. Your assigned dentist aren't always there so you have to be very flexible. When I tired to set up a follow up appointment I could only do it on the 1st and 3rd Saturday/Thursday of the month and not Friday or this that and any other time. It was confusing. 2. Just like any corporate/chain dentist they try to sell you everything! No thanks, just clean my teeth. They almost seem sad when you have a $0 balance at the end of your visit. 3. My husband and I had our fillings (2) redone because they were old. Wow! The pain lasted 3 + weeks. It hurt so bad to bite down. My husband had his done a couple months before me and I thought he was being dramatic but then I had mine done. I've had fillings done before and usually once the numbness wears off you are good to go. I think our dentist may be heavy handed and applies way to much force when drilling, I don't know. 4. During my first visit I waited over an hour to be seen. Now I'm always sure to ask for first appointment of the day. Overall everyone seems to be friendly. We have our next appointments scheduled but may look around for a less corporate dentist. read more

This place is filled with scam artists. Every time my husband or myself goes here they always try to sell upwards of $400 worth of work. I feel like I am in a place where the people work on commission and not for the teeth to be fixed right. Also when my husband had his wisdom teeth pulled out they sent him home when he was still not able to walk or stand up by himself. Put him in his moms car from a wheelchair and was done. Absolute trash dental location. All they want to do is upsell and report fake problems. They said that I needed $5k of bogus cavity procedures and "Deep Cleaning" to save my gums that would prevent my teeth from "dying and falling out within next 5 years". Lies, lies, and more lies. I have never had a cavity in my life and visited prior dentist every 6 months for cleaning and checkups without any issues. They even billed my insurance for the maximum they could get away with for consultation. Stay away from this location at all costs. ONLY GAVE 1 star as no stars is not available!!! Follow up for wisdom removal was today. After review of X-rays we see to our absolute disgust and dismay a piece of the wisdom tooth still left in one of the sockets. Yet another sign of Dr. Peterson's medical neglect. Not to mention it was extremely infected. So what did they have to do, cut my husband open AGAIN to remove the piece of infected tooth. Seriously what is wrong with this place. Not only did the "Doctor/Dentist" scar my husband's lip now my husband has an infected gum/socket. This is the WORST dental office EVER. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM HERE. I have filed a complaint with our insurance company and posted reviews here and several other places. Now we will be filing a complaint with BBB and the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners. We attempted to let Laveen Modern Dentistry and Dr. Peterson rectify this but this is unacceptable. This is medical neglect and they should be ashamed of themselves. For proof I attached the pictures, the X-ray and two of the huge piece of tooth left behind by Dr. Peterson and how infected it was. . We had plans for tomorrow and have now had to cancel them due to this negligence this is also costing us as it is too late to get a refund for the room and tickets we had already purchased.
