So I've been having some pain and swelling I thought I may have some infection called to schedule and they were able to squeeze me in since I was so frantic on the phone stressing out over it. I have to say that all the staff are so very nice, down to earth and really seem to care! I received the most extensive exam I've ever had in my life, checking for cancer etc... I do have something going on with my jaw, she set a plan of action to get me back to feeling good. They explain things to you, I mean I can honestly say I felt cared for even though it was my first time here. Im a big baby when it comes to anything dental but they made sure I was comfortable, I can't say it enough I was at ease and really felt like I'm in good hands. Dr. Rebecca Schaffer is an excellent doctor and leader in Hypermobile dental and orofacial care. However, her practice as a whole is NOT trauma informed, the admin staff is extremely disorganized and Jessica is very rude. The billing office lacks accountability for the ridicoulous amount of mistakes and misses and are very non-communicative. Their inaccurate insistence to place blame on my insurance and on me is unnacceptable. In my attempts to communicate my dissatisfaction with interactions and billing, I was met with termination of my care. I find this to be innapropriate as I clearly communicated that it was my intention to create cohesive resolution and continued care. read more

Although a bit of a wait to be scheduled (they were booked out a bit) when an opening came up they moved my appointment up. Both times I visited were superb. The doctor is great, very personable and doesn't make you feel like a number. The cleaning I received was outstanding, made me feel comfortable and very thorough. Rebecca Schaffer and her staff are completely unprofessional. My daughter and I were"dismissed" from her dental practice, mid treatment plan. Solely because I insisted that my daughter, who is deaf, have an interpreter at her appointments. Being that I am a caregiver, in the healthcare field, I and well versed in patient rights. I also just happen to be a fraud waste & abuse healthcare investigator, And should have actually blown the whistle on her and her staff (which might I add, consists of her husband acting as a front desk receptionist). I thought I had found a decent female dentist, whom I could trust. She made it known that didn't want to have to "pay for an interpreter every time my daughter came in for services", And that she has plenty of patients who go without one. What a closed minded, antiquated bigot. Reporting her to the medical ethics board, is what I should have done. Shame on you "Dr" Schaffer. And just so you know, and interpreter should never come out of your pocket, interpreters of every language, are covered by the insurance plan. Do your homework! read more

This small dental office is as good as the best that I've experienced. I've had a lot of dental work over my 70+ years including super high-quality military. I still have all but one bicuspid tooth and this visit was my first after moving from Illinois to Phoenix. We picked this office because it wasn't a big corporate service and it was close to home, here in the Tolleson area. I went in for a cleaning and exam and since I hadn't had a checkup for over two years, I got a full set of xrays, a comprehensive evaluation and a 'deep' cleaning which was a lot more than what I expected. Dr. Schaffer is really good and has surrounded herself with exceptional support. My hygienist, Lyem (?? i think) was very thorough and she explained everything in detail. This service gets a ten rating from me, highly recommended and in my opinion, you can't get better service. Thank you Dr. Schaffer, Lyem for the service you provide. Also, I appreciated Frank the front office receptionist when I checked in. You were also good to meet.....always presenting a 'pretty face' :-) !! read more

I'm terrible at making reviews because I can't come up with the words to describe how delightful my experience has been. I started seeing Dr. Schaffer since last year. I initially thought that I used to get migraines because I was just stressed and it ran in the family. Although the dentist saw me for my teeth she noticed I had an indifference in my head and neck muscles. She was able to refer me to a specialist for migraines BUT it was actually her who helped me. Migraines are gone! She gave me trigger point shots to help me with my bruxism and my teeth grinding. I got a special mouth guard for this. I no longer have headaches! Her and the staff are wonderful. They're super nice and always try to make your experience comfortable. read more

I hesitate reviewing something medically-related, because it's often such a crapshoot and a very personal area. But I have to give props to these fab people! From my first call where I bombarded them with gazillion questions about my options and how my insurance would factor into everything, they've been fantastic. The woman spent nearly a half hour on the phone with me, I swear. This got me in the door, because if a doctor's office can't be half decent on the phone, like hell I'll open up my mouth and have them hack at it. (And plunk down cash for the pleasure afterwards to boot.) After my phone consultation, I felt comfortable enough driving over to have them evaluate my teeth. I'm very particular about my medical care. I can't stress this enough. I expect the doctors I allow to poke and prod my body to be professional, gentle, patient, friendly, have a superb bedside manner, informative, conscientious...you get my point. The assistants and the dentist(s) are all of these. I am growing to trust them more and more and will continue to go out of my (geographic) way to remain their patient. They called me the day after to make sure I was ok. Service! And I feel that if I had any concern whatsoever, I could call or walk in and be helped. read more

What an awesome experience! During my month-long cross-country​ trip, I had an old repair for a chipped front tooth break. I was still 3 weeks from home and seeing my regular dentist, so I sought help during a one day stop in Phoenix. The staff was able to get me right in first thing in the morning, assess the needed repair, and made time to properly fix the damaged tooth immediately! Dr. Duong was wonderful. She not only fixed the large chipped tooth, she also offered and repaired a smaller chip on an adjacent tooth at the same time. The result was better than any previous repairs. I wrote one review for this dental office but now I want to write another one. Dr Schaeffer and her entire staff are the best dental office you will find anywhere. I'm pretty sure of that. I have referred my entire family. I originally went to Sundance Dental because of reviews that said she had worked with autistic children. My 89 year old mother was having trouble with her dentures which her old dental office seemed unable to fix or even to care about very much. Dr. Schaeffer could see the problem right away and even though my mother was not much help in figuring it all out, Dr. Schaeffer remained loving and attentive and thorough until the issue was resolved properly. Her dentures became one small item that was not a torment to her in her last year here on earth and for that I will be eternally grateful. She was so good with my mom that I went to see her. Then my husband. Then my sister in law. Then my son. Then my daughter and my grandchildren. She has dealt with dentures, TMJ issues, tooth extractions, infections, tooth sensitivity, bite misalignment, two bridges, and soon an implant. Not to mention just routine cleanings by an amazing oral hygienist. She has treated all the way from 90 years old to 6 years old just in my family and everybody walked away with their dental issues resolved. They weren't all easy resolutions either. She refers you to other wonderful doctors when you need other professional care also. Her staff is equally amazing. The office manager (Frank who also happens to be her husband) as well as the front desk ladies all are kind, friendly, smiling, helpful and knowledgeable about what they are doing. They work with you and always treat you like they are happy to see you - every time. No one is every cranky. No one is incompetent. Every person in that office is friendly, helpful and professional in their contribution to your dental health and all the other areas that can be affected by dental issues. Also - they do the work they truly believe you need and they help you prioritize what needs to be done first and what you can do if money is an issue. They give you your options, make their recommendations and then let you decide what is best for you given your entire situation. It's pretty awesome and amazing. I feel blessed to have found this office - Dr Schaeffer and her entire staff. I see that Dr Schaeffer reads these so let me say - Thank You for all you have done for me and for my family. Dr. Shaffer and her team are amazing! I went to her at the suggestion of my GP. I have had "dry mouth" and other oral health issues for decades. Dr. Shaffer has always approached my dental treatment with how it affects my whole mouth, not just one tooth that is the problem. I'm not a fan of dentists - With that being said- I came to Sundance because of its reviews and I have to say they stood up to their reviews 10 fold. They were gentle, Listened, explained and made sure I was ok with everything they were doing. I've had a cleaning and 3 fillings done here and every time I've experienced this. I've brought my oldest daughter in to have a 2nd opinion and couldn't have been more pleased with their meekness with her. They truly care about their patients - not just looking to make a quick buck- but the longevity of a relationship with every patient that comes to them. The office staff is friendly The reminders are helpful and the easy access to all forms online helps tremendously cut down the wait time prior to the visit. I found the most amazing dentist for my autistic daughter--we've been through 5 and I was sooo happy we finally found "the one"! She's amazing, patient, sweet and caring. Explained every little step to my daughter-even asked if the music in the office bothered her (it did) so she had staff turn it off! For every little thing my daughter was able to do, she gave her a hi-5 and a sticker--she was covered in stickers by the time we left! :) I don't know how, but she got my daughter to sit in the chair, count her teeth, xrays (!), cleaned and brushed her tooth--I wanted to hug her! It's a 30 minute drive but sooooo worth it!! She Co-authored Dental Guides for treating people with autism, including ones for dentists, parents and autism care providers, helped develop and teach a three day CE program for dental providers. First of all, let me say the dental assistants and the staff were very polite and professional. The DENTIST on the other hand was RUDE. I made an appointment to get a filling. A very nice young lady took x-rays and cleaned my teeth. The "Doctor" came over looked at my tooth and said they could schedule me for a filling. I got up and asked said " I thought I came in here this time for a filling?" She turned around without saying a word and walked away. The lady at the front desk was polite and scheduled me for a follow appointment. But it was bugging me the dentist was so rude and unprofessional as to walk away. I asked the nice young lady at the front desk if I could speak to dentist, The front desk lady came back and said "I am sorry, she is real busy and can't speak right now." Worst ever! Took my daughter in for a prescheduled appointment. The office manager (male) was screaming at his front desk staff (young women) for about a half an hour. Not sure what it was all about, but his lack of respect for them spilled over into his lack of customer service skills with us. I prepaid for my daughters office visit, and when she got in the chair, she was told that this office is refusing to serve her. She was a victim of a horrifying fake dentist that destroyed her front teeth. This dentist told her he would work with the office of victims assistance for the city of Phoenix to get her teeth fixed properly. Once the dentist saw the work that needed to be done, he refused to treat her, and refunded my pre-paid money back to my card as I even offered to pay for her services. Apparently, if you have more than a filling or cleaning that needs to be done, this dentist does not have the skills to do it. Or, the very rude and abusive office manager is in charge of this business. Do NOT recommend!!! read more

This office is under new management and the service is awful. I began going there around 2006-ish and the service was always amazing. The receptionists were attentive and the doctors were extremely caring. I then went there again around May 2014 and the service was beyond awful. When making an appointment the woman on the phone had terrible communication skills, seemed grumpy, and overall uninterested in helping me- but I brushed it off and went in for my appointment. When I went into the office to get some work done the main doctor who now runs the place was inconsiderate and rude. She was stretching my mouth too wide and hurting me to the point where it felt as if my jaw was going to pop out of place. I understand it sounds as if I am exaggerating but the previous doctor acknowledged I had a smaller mouth and even used child sized tools on me because of it so I knew she was being too rough. I tried to get over it and power through the pain but eventually I made a noise to signify that she was hurting me and she rudely shushed me. Afterward she asked me what I was making noise about and I replied "never mind" glad that the work was over. She then insisted I tell her what was wrong and when I told she was hurting my jaw and the tool she used to hold my mouth open was an improper fit she had me lay down again put her hands in my mouth and then told me no. She told me that the pain I was feeling was invalid and she was right, even though for the past so many years I have been there they have always advised that smaller tools be used and I have never made a peep of a complaint during a procedure there before. She also handled my entire head roughly pushing me back and fourth the whole procedure it was like no other dentist experience I had ever had. On top of being rough and inconsiderate of my feelings, she undermined everything I said. She would ask me if I would like a certain treatment and then when I would answer she would send one of her assistants to ask my mother even though I WAS PAYING FOR ALL PROCEDURES AND MY MOTHER WAS ONLY THERE BECAUSE WE WERE RUNNING ERRANDS TOGETHER. At the time I was 19 (aka a legal adult) and she confirmed that with me many times but still had the nerve to keep sending her people to the lobby to ask my mom who kept replying that it was whatever I wanted and then she made a remark about me being in charge. Yes obviously, it is my mouth and not only that but I am paying for these procedures not my mother- she was extremely unprofessional- especially since most medical professionals deal with you directly once you are 18. After that check up I was uncomfortable but soon had to return for a new set of retainers and that was an even bigger mistake. Once again, I was assigned the same dentist and she was even more rude this time. Before purchasing the retainers we were going through my options on different types and I began asking questions about insurance and such. When I did that she began getting angry. I was asking and trying to see all of my options but eventually she flat out refused to speak to me and left the room telling her assistant "don't speak to these people". Her assistant was clearly uncomfortable and stood there in silence with me for a minute or two. I was feeling really uncomfortable and attacked and quietly began explaining my situation to her. She looked at me compassionately because her boss was being very unprofessional and from the next room the other woman (aka he boss) YELLS for her to stop talking to me. She sent this man to discuss it with me like I wanted to give my business to them after all of that blatant disrespect and harassment. The entire time I did not raise my voice once but this older woman who owned the place for heavens sake was going off at me. I don't know if she was having a particularly bad day or what but it was definitely not any type of excuse for her unprofessionalism and behavior. I went home and within a few minutes found out what type of coverage my insurance provided for what I needed and the fact that they were so unable to communicate such simple elements of my insurance coverage to me effectively and calmly was ridiculous. Overall, the old management was amazing but the new owner is a terrible, unprofessional, lousy individual who lacks the smallest shred of decency and respect for others. I would not recommend going there on any terms based on my experience. I cannot even imagine how she is with children because of how roughly she handled me and ignored me. I can only imagine she would probably aggressively handle children and then act like they were being sensitive to the dentist or what not. I would have never in a million years expected this type of treatment at a dentist's office and will probably never get over how extremely unprofessional and insane this dentist (the owner of this establishment) is. read more

This the staff is the best. Such a shame Dr. Schafer is such a horrible dentist. Decided to try this office since my last dentist is 30 min out of my way. Worst decision ever. Both front office and back office were great so from the moment I walked in I felt comfortable that is until the doctor walked In. I heard her throw a tantrum in the hall like a child before she walked in be because she was missing some instrument from the other room. Seriously? The way she talks down to her staff is ridiculous I don't know how they put up with her. She then Walks In Trying to be all nice to me after the big scene she caused. How fake can she be? She tells me I have a small cavity that needs to be filled and since she had time she offered to do it the same day and promises it wouldn't take more than 40 minutes. I thaught what the heck I'm already here and I'll save my self a trip. Huge mistake! I was in the office for 2.5 hours!!! I'm not an expert in dentistry but it took half the time when I had my crowns done at a different office. Then to add insult to injury she tells me it took her so long because she is OCD when it comes to fillings and she wanted to make sure the filling was perfect. Perfect ? I would say INCOMPETENT.I wouldn't even expect this from a first year dental student. As I'm getting ready to leave I hear her throw another tantrum with a front office girl on how they don't know how to schedule her patients and now she is running almost 2 hours behind schedule. Like I said, i don't know anything about dentistry but from where I was standing it was her fault. She is the one who offered to do my filling within 40 minutes and then ends up taking her 2.5 hours. It's a shame how such a great office gets stuck with such a horrible dentist who makes her self feel better by degrading her employees and blaming them for her mistakes. No human being deserves to be treated this way .Not to mention that the filling is now causing sensitivity so when I go back she wants to replace it with a silver filling because it's better. Then why did she do a white filling in the first place and why didn't she give me an option for the silver fillings until after the fact? No thank you! I'm not letting this lady anywhere near my mouth! I rather drive 30 minutes out of my way to see my old dentist who is truly kind and caring not only to his patients but his staff also. read more
