This "clinic" is registered as a profit corporation and is not accredited with the Better Business…read moreBureau. Despite calling itself a "hospital", it does not provide emergency services. In my experience, the costs for exams, checkups, and vaccines are significantly higher than expected, and procedures are often performed out of sight after pets are removed from the room. Following one such visit, both of my dogs experienced adverse reactions to vaccines. Scheduling appointments is unnecessarily difficult, even though the facility often appears underutilized. When I requested a refill for my elderly cat's prescription diet, the clinic refused without requiring another exam and vaccines. This was particularly concerning given my cat's advanced age and difficulty traveling. No alternative solutions were offered. Additionally, a diet recommended for my dog led to serious health issues and cancer growths. The clinic then suggested costly surgeries exceeding $2,000 per growth, which ultimately proved unnecessary when the condition resolved after switching to a holistic diet. Overall, the emphasis here seems to be on profit rather than patient care. Examinations are rushed, often lasting only a few minutes, yet billed at hundreds of dollars. Based on these experiences, I cannot recommend this clinic to pet owners seeking compassionate, transparent, and trustworthy veterinary care."

They recently sold the clinic to one of the many business groups snatching up vet clinics and the service has degraded. Tough finding decent, friendly, knowledgeable and affordable vets these days. Brought her to angell memorial in Boston, supposed to be the "best animal hospital ever" ....no... they didn't question my cat's age, (I was misinformed by the woman I got her from) and after charging me hundreds of dollars, they essentially told me I was a horrible pet owner and she must have gotten into something, she'll be fine in a day. Well she wasn't fine in a day. Instincts said go home so I came back from Boston and brought her to the henniker vet. About $70 later, I'm walking out the door with a diagnosis, medication for an EAR INFECTION, and her ACTUAL age. I have never gone anywhere else since and I won't unless it's an incredibly dire, time sensitive situation. I don't really trust the one star reviews here, it's so hard losing a pet as they are family, you want to blame someone. Henniker vet doesn't deserve to be blamed because I truly believe their staff is incredibly well trained and are amazing doctors and people. Thank you guys for always being so good to us

I've waited 3 months to write this review as I didn't want it to be out of spite or anger . My…read morefirst thought was to go into great detail about my family's experience with Russell's Animal Hospital but decided to make a long story short .....My daughter & Son-in-law had an 11 year old golden retriever. He was brought to Russell's in January with several health concerns including fear of cancer . He also had a large mass on his sternum. He was in and out of Russell's for numerous tests and bloodwork that they suggested from Jan 2025 into May 2025 . Test after test and bill after bill and over 3,000$ in Doctor fees , tests , etc. Russell's failed to find the cancer that eventually took his life on Memorial Day Weekend. Once it got to the point that he wasn't sleeping or eating my daughter & son-in-law took him to the Caves Emergency Hospital in Concord NH and in less than 20 minutes and a fee of 150$ vs 3,000$ ( not exaggerating) the doctor on duty was able to thoroughly diagnose him & gave us the sad news that he had a cancerous tumor that was bleeding and it may be time to consider euthanizing him . I Don't blame Russell's for the cancer and I don't know if the outcome would of been any different, but if Russell's would of done their job & been more thorough in finding his cancer there may of been treatment options available to us , but at the very least my daughter and son-in-law could of spent more quality time and been able to say goodbye over a longer period of time, Rather than getting blind sided and having 1 hr to say goodbye on a rainy cold Sat morning on the floor of the Cavs emergency room . Although Russell's did allow me a 2 hour meeting with one of there long time Doctors to voice my concerns and answer my questions, I must say I walked away feeling as if they accepted no responsibility for not finding the cancer , and offered no sincere apologies. I'm sorry to say but " SHAME ON YOU RUSSELLS!!! " you dropped the ball . In my opinion you were too focused on " Taking the round about way " ringing up bills and rushing through tests than being more thorough and finding our poor dogs cancer . WE TRUSTED YOU WITH OUR BELOVED DOG & YOU LET US DOWN!! With that being said I COULD NOT AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND RUSSELLS ANIMAL HOSPITAL TO ANYONE!! . If you do bring your pet there , be extremely careful , and bring the credit cards because they love to stack up the bills . I truly pray that your experience with Russell's has a much better outcome than our families .

I highly recommend Dr.Comeau and his staff and miss them all so much! The saying "you don't know…read morewhat you've got until it's gone" i can seriously say is true! When we lived in NH, Queen City AH was our vet for many years, actually ever since Dr. Comeau took the business over from the original owner. Now in Florida and the vets here dont compare, not even close. We had a goofy but extremely loveable Blue Nose Pitbull named Bullet and I remember Dt. Comeau loved to see him and he would grab his big jaws saying how much he loved him, he cared for him successfully through heartworm which was a very scary treatment and because of Bully's compromised immune system took the time to research everything to make sure it worked to cure him, he also had to deal with Bullys skin condition due to allergies which we never really got a grip on because we ended up moving to Florida and these Vets here are a dime-a-dozen and severely inexperienced with lack of empathy it seems to me anyway for the animals they "try" to treat! About a month ago Bullet was brought into a Clinic here for what seemed like was possibly a respiratory infection but also had a distended abdomen as well a lot of swelling, he wasn't eating hardly and was a bit lethargic, which we related to the possible infection but that dog always took whatever life handed him with his tail still wagging constantly! ... I won't name because it would take away from this great facilities review, (although I'd like to as to save the next persons pet from them) after X-rays and bloodwork which ruled out Melenoma the almost 1yr experienced Vet said nothing alarming to see gave antibiotics and steroids and sent him on his way, he wasn't getting better after a few days and also was now throwing up clear foamy liquid and bile so we brought him back in after the 2nd day she got an opinion from her colleagues most with same little experience as her, now her diagnosis was "Bullet has cancer, but I don't know where it's coming from." and "he only has a few days to live" which was the ONLY thing she was right about sadly 4 weeks ago he lost the fight that he every time under Dr. Comeaus care was able to come out the Champion. He passed away suddenly at home on my bedroom floor let's say you can never prepare yourself for that! I know this is a lot of info for a review but the sad outcome, and hope that Dr. Comeau may read this review to inform him of Bullet passing away, I know how much he loved Bully and also for the review I know under Dr. Comeaus care would NEVER had happened as it did, and I just want to say thank you Dr. Comeau especially, and his Staff, for caring for Bully with so much professionalism and love and we will never find another like you believe me! Anyone reading this review if you could make it through the book that is lol, you have no worries when it comes to this Veterinarian Dr. Comeau is the BEST hands down! Thank you again for taking care of Bullet and Ruby we appreciate and miss you all!

It was scary to be just another pet owner again! Even being a nervous Nelly who "knows too much", I have never once had cause for concern at ATAH. The team is skilled, honest, friendly, patient, and compassionate. I could not ask for more. And FWIW, I find the pricing totally fair. Anybody complaining about it needs to use their head for a moment and remember that *everything* is more expensive. This is life. Are you also arguing with your mechanic, hair dresser, and the cashiers at Market Basket? I truly wish every pet owner could spend a day at an animal hospital to see how hard everyone really works to function as an ER, a primary care doc, an OBGYN, a pediatrician, a radiologist, an oncologist, a dentist, an ophthalmologist, an obstetrician, a general surgeon, an endocrinologist, a nephrologist, a cardiologist, a hematologist, a dermatologist, a urologist, a pharmacist, a behavior specialist, a hospice care specialist, an infectious disease specialist, an internal medicine specialist, and every other -ologist and specialist you can imagine, and for multiple species -- and let's not forget the nurses! As an old boss used to say, "what you guys do is nursing, techs change your oil." It's freaking *miraculous* what they manage to pull off and should be met with nothing but gratitude and respect.

Bellevue Stables - Smoking in the barn

    Bellevue Stables

    (2 reviews)

I recently boarded 13 horses at Bellevue Stables in Bow, NH under the management of Evelyn Cutting…read more and I would like to share my experience after my recent loss of one of them for the benefit of others. When I arrived, three horses were in stalls and the rest were in paddocks full-time at this facility and the ones outside weren't many. I provided detailed instructions regarding each of my horse's medications and supplements--everything was clearly labeled and organized in individual containers for the nine horses that required them. After about 3.5 weeks, I discovered that the horses had not been receiving their medications nor supplements as instructed. When I asked about this, the barn manager responsible told me she was overwhelmed by the influx of horses, and at that time they had also hired a new employee to help her when we moved in. This was concerning, as consistent care is essential to equine health. During my four months at the facility, several health issues arose. One horse developed a persistent cough that required extended treatment. Three horses developed ulcers, and two required a month-long course of Gastrogard as any equine person knows the expense of that medication alone. One horse, Merlin, was eventually referred to New England Equine for severe ulcers. On the day of his episode, I was told he was being monitored from a distance through a window not physically checking on him. When I arrived and saw him in person he was showing signs of distress, and was immediately trailered to New England Equine. Another horse, George, experienced a significant health decline. He has Cushing's and requires daily medication, which I later found out was not administered for several weeks. His ACTH and insulin levels rose dramatically during that time, leading to a critical condition. He has since been re-evaluated by a veterinarian, and his prognosis is uncertain. There were also concerns with cleanliness and paddock maintenance. Some paddocks were routinely cleaned, while others were not. Stalls were not always maintained consistently for example leaving the manure by the stall door until the following day and this was observed more than five times, and I observed a pattern of unequal care. There was no consistency on feeding schedule nor turn in or turn out time. When addressed I was told basically it's her way or the highway. Also in observation continuous construction projects that we were made aware of however many are started, and not finished...tack room, wash rack spaces that are half done, and still not usable to boarders. There is also a very strong presence of rodents, and birds throughout the facility. Both could be physically viewed, and also signs such as feces in tack room, grain storage, aisle ways, corner feed dishes. I also believe this could've been a contributing factor to my horses equine health. There were no signs, or effort in the removal, or treatment of the facility to remove such pests. While I understand that caring for many horses is demanding, I believe that with proper staffing and oversight, these issues might have been avoided. I have been in the horse community for over 25 years and have never previously felt compelled to leave a review like this. Unfortunately, this experience led to over $18,000 in veterinary expenses and significant stress for both myself and my animals. I hope this feedback encourages improvements in care and communication moving forward for future boarders, but also cautions the next boarder to be aware of problems that exist within this facility currently.
