Great massage, would recommend and would recommend membership, been her for 3 years have nothing but positive about this place

Use caution before signing up for a membership at this business. My experience with canceling their massage membership has been frustrating and far more complicated than expected. The cancellation terms were not clearly explained at the time of enrollment, which was pushed and hyped up by the owner- and when I attempted to cancel, I was required to follow restrictive policies that were not clearly understood upfront. Communication throughout the process was inconsistent and often required multiple follow-ups to receive responses. I also had unused prepaid sessions at the time and was not offered a resolution that I found satisfactory. Overall, the cancellation process felt difficult to navigate, and I strongly recommend that anyone considering a membership carefully review all terms and cancellation policies in full before signing up. You cannot just take people's money and not provide the service. I know I am not the only "victim" after reading the reviews- which I should have done prior to initially booking. I mean the massages really weren't good, compared to other places but I was trying to give this business a chance. You get better massages at a nail parlor. Also, the owner won't respond to me and in fact has other people doing her dirty work. I am completely pissed, but what more can I expect. I plan to take further action! read more

I've been seeing Daps at this location for a bit now and it has been life changing. I have seen other massage therapists and not to say they aren't as good, but Daps is different. It is very medically driven. She knew what vertebrae I have issues with without me telling her. I went in for shoulder pain initially, and she used heated bamboo to assist in a way hands alone are unable to, and it was such a noticeable difference and relief. Now I'm going back regularly as I can feel the difference. I can tell I'm finally gaining a long-term positive effect from these sessions where she incorporates stretch as well, and so I'm sincere when I say she has been life changing. Daps is unique in her approach, and the pain I went in for desperately she was able to relieve, and then from there I feel like she's 'fixing' years' worth of damage I've done. I have TMJ and had a massage for that which was such a surprise in how much I felt its benefits. I couldn't recommend her more. read more

I love that when I went to book they had same day openings/booking. I booked with Andrea (firm/medium) and I must say I have no regrets. Andrea targeted every area and made the massage so relaxing. Do NOT join this massage biz. First, the therapists are not skilled. It is more like being pushed around the table. I tried 3 massages and none were worth the time much less the money. More importantly, I signed up for the "month to month" like a dodo (I knew it was going to be a mistake but it was close to my gym) and was told that they need 30 days notice, which I could live with. What they DO NOT tell you is that you pay a penalty for terminating for any reason. SO they charge you to cancel your membership, which is not a month to month. I got 3 massages for the price of 6. This is thievery and the owners are to blame. The poor girl at the front desk knew it was wrong but apparently is too scared of the owner to say anything. Do yourself a favor and find a good place with good therapists. You will pay the same, it will be easier to book, and you wont be ripped off when you terminate your "month to month" contract. This is the second time my partner and I booked with Patricia and had the same problem. On 3/23 I was booked for a 90 minute massage (80 hands-on) at 2:45pm. She took me back at 2:43pm and spoke to me for about 4 minutes about her resume. The massage was okay but the ending felt rushed. Once I got up to put my clothes on I realized it was 3:54pm. This was not a 90 minute massage (or 80). When I brought this up to the front desk, it was brushed off to just being "a few minutes under". My massage should've ended at 4:10 to allow time to get dressed. I lost 16 minutes that I paid for. The front desk worker didn't show any concern and offered no solutions. I asked to have any remaining appointments with her rebooked. I was then asked to tip and refused for obvious reasons. My partner had a similar experience in the past where Patricia did not give her the full time (which was a couples massage so she had to wait 15 minutes for me and was told that I just got extra time which I didn't). The customer service was unacceptable, especially since solutions weren't offered. Even a free entrancement on the next service would have been nice. This is part of the reason I cancelled my membership. Why raise the prices if we're going to receive less time and poor customer service. read more

I have been getting massages for years. From scheduling through check-out this was overall the most disappointing massage experience I have ever had. I booked online but was called and told the time I selected wasn't available, so I had to reschedule it. When I showed up no one greeted me and I waited until after the time my appointment was to start. I had a 90-minute massage and at the end of the massage Norman had only worked on my back and briefly on my arms and legs without rolling over. I had asked to focus on my shoulders and lower back. Barely touched my shoulders. When I dressed and walked out, he wasn't there waiting to offer water or anything, so I went to the desk where the receptionist was trying to sell a couple on a package and didn't acknowledge me. I told her to please charge the card on file. For whatever reason it wasn't going through for her, so she called and threatened to report me to the local authorities for using a fradulent card. I gave her another card for an agreed upon lower payment due to the poor quality of service. Completely unprofessional overall. Would not go back or recommend. read more

I booked a 2 hour hot stone massage at 10:00am on Saturday, 1/8/2022. Because the masseuse was 20+ minutes late, I was forced to cancel, as it now caused a schedule conflict for my afternoon activities. Imagine my disappointment having to cancel after booking over a week in advanced and planning my whole day around it! I was really impressed with this place. We made an appt for a couples massage and upon arrival, there was minimal wait. The staff was friendly and the decor was very warm in the lobby. The rooms size was good with aromas that soothed. The music was great, it had the perfect volume and a variety of nature sound mixed with smooth, mellow tones. As for my masseuse, I have to admit, Sannai was awesome. He focused on my specific problem areas (neck, shoulder) as requested but did not sacrifice the other areas within the allotted time. Which leads me to the next point. Our scheduled hour was spent on the table and not wasted with paperwork or idle time. First visit is discounted and well worth it. The receptionist also mentioned that educators are given a pretty discount too. A true value here. read more

Terrible customer service, they say the plans are easily cancelable they are not there are a lot of grey areas and loops that you have to go through. I scheduled a couples massage for my partner's birthday. We arrived to the appointment early as asked to fill out forms. Upon walking back to be serviced we realized we were going into separate rooms. We did not receive prior notice that the couple's room was occupied after booking or upon arrival. The front desk receptionist (who messed up our appointment) scheduled us to come back the next day for a couple's massage & suggested she'd comp hot stone add ons for us both. We arrive the next day & the lady servicing my partner was unable to provide the hot stone treatment as she is expecting. Understandable. Again, we were not notified prior to arriving. I wanted to be able to leave a good review after our massages but neither of us were satisfied. My partner's masseuse had a nice personality. My masseur's was okay as well. A few hours after the massage my shoulder blade is very sore! I'm not sure if he assumed my shoulder blade was a "kink" but this is not it. We will not be returning. read more

I started a membership. I've had two bad experiences. I definitely won't go any more. One when a man was basically saying women ask for happy endings there while he was doing my massage. The worst was a lady massage my body scalp and then touched my face afterwards. She didn't clean her hands. My face broke out and it never does that. I sent them pictures and I didn't get an apology at all. Also when I've asked and made appointment twice for a "deep tissue " massage. The therapist that placed me with said that they don't do deep tissue. I didn't go back and they still drafted my account after I canceled my membership. I will say there are some nice people there. I received a massage at this location and was very disappointed. My friend bought me a giftcard here as a birthday gift and I decided to use it today on my birthday. This was the worst massage ever. My 12 year old gives me better massages. Don't get me wrong, Karen (I believe her name was) was nice, but she spent more time moving pillows, towels, and getting lotion than massaging. She also seemed like she didn't know what she was doing. She literally massaged my temples for 30 seconds and my feet for 60 seconds. Then when you try to communicate with her, you can't because there is a communication barrier. I am highly disappointed and will not be returning. LaVida is incredible! It took me a few months to book an appointment, because I never had enough time. I called on an early Friday to book my appointment and Daishon, didn't hesitate to give me the best time that worked for me. I had Ni, I had a relaxation-Swedish, massage. Hands down Ni! First, she took the time to listen to my concerns and pain points. She even gave me some stretches and tips to stay relaxed. She really alleviate my pain from working in an office job where I sit all day and strain my lower back and neck. I would highly recommend Ni, and look forward to getting another massage. Excellent customer service from receptionist to therapist. I had a great experience. If you are looking to have a relaxing massage, please contact this place. Horrible business practice at this location. Never sign up for a membership because they will lie about how you can use your credits. 1. Credits can not be given as a gift card 2. Credits can not be used by anyone outside of your family 3. Under staffed constantly and always complain that members need to be more flexible 4. High turnover of massage therapists 5. Massage therapists aren't good quality, only a few therapists are good. Some therapists don't even want to really give a good massage. 6. Can only use membership at this location, you can not use at other LaVida locations. Owner didn't care that we have been members for years. She said that her staff is violating policy if we were able to use massages with friends. Very inconsistent policies and every time you call you get different answers to questions. DO NOT sign up for membership with LaVida especially the Ballantyne location. read more

It's ok. I'd go to Foxcroft, but they unexpectedly closed that location and consolidated to this one. Some of the staff didn't know they were closing... some of them heard it from their clients! The staff seems very nice, but I'm not sure who is still there and who isn't. The hallways smelled like sweaty socks, which I didn't like. The massage I received was good, though. It's just so far out of my way that I doubt I'll get down there again. read more

I like this place because even though they are a part of a bigger company their therapist are not like those places. They seem happy and are actually nice. I have been to places where the poor therapist is about to fall sleep or they are just exhausted and grumpy. I have been going here for a while and I like the way they treat me. A few minor mishaps with the appointments but it was nothing to make me upset. In general I like them and do recommend them for other people. read more

I love LaVida Massage. It's clean, quiet, relaxing, and then you go in for your massage. Yes, it takes a little time to find the right therapist for what you need but once that happens it's smooth sailing from appointment to appointment. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE OWNER ADRIENNE IS THE ABSOLUTE WORSE OWNER I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED FROM A BUSINESS EVER!!!! I booked a 90 minute massage that they accidentally put down as a 60 minute massage I thought that was worst part, but it wasn't!!! And this was an issue because I was left with an extra $25 gift card that I don't want to use with this company! During my massage Alexis the massage therapist kept tossing the lotion bottle on my legs in between uses. Next I discover that Alexis thought the massage was 60 minutes when she literally spent 1 minute on each of my arms because she was rushing to get done since I had her spend a lot of time on my back because I was under the impression that I had a '90' minute massage. As she was ending I said to her, "I had a 90 minute massage". She said she would check with the front desk. When she returned she said that it was in fact only a 60 minute massage that they scheduled. When I went to the front the lady at the front desk apologized and said she was going to reach out to the owner and that they owner would give me a call back.  That was on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018.  I never received a call. I called back on Sunday, Feb 25th to follow up and the lady said the owner was off and that she would give her the detailed message about my experience. Monday, Feb 26th passed without a call. Tuesday, Feb 27th passed without a call. I decided to try again on Wednesday, Feb 28th. This time when I called in the owner ADRIENNE answered the phone.  I asked her if she was familiar with my name and the experience I had.  She said "No".  She said you can tell me what it was. I told her I was shocked she was not aware since I was told twice that a message was sent to you and one of the people that told me that was a manager. She said she didn't get a message, but I could tell her what happened. I wanted to first address that there made need to be some training on communication because I was certain a message had been given to her by this point. She said she will deal with that. So I went on to share my disappointment with the massage itself and the fact that I got cheated out of my extra 30 minutes and that I was disappointed to learn the messages about my experience never got to her. Her response was, "What Do You Want Me To Do" in a very brash tone. I was shocked!! There was no apology or sympathy.  She just said point black, "What Do You Want Me To Do"!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!! I will spare you all of the back and forth.  She ultimately said, "I don't know what you want me to do, you got your massage and if you didn't really like it you should have gotten off the table and said something.  She said you can go over to the other LaVida location since you didn't like it here." I WAS LIKE WOW...REALLY! YOU JUST SAID THAT OUT LOUD!! She had no compassion in her voice. She eventually said, "I don't want you to come back here since you didn't like and you should go over to the other location and use your extra $25 gift card there". End of discussion. THAT HAD TO BE THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD...THIS WOMAN NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FROM THIS BUSINESS IMMEDIATELY. My husband and I are in town for a wedding and booked two massages at LaVida on a whim. He had a massage with Alexis and I with Miss Tonya for which we both were really lucky. He reports that his massage was very relaxing and a wonderful experience. My massage with Miss Tonya was amazing. She was so friendly and attentive. I told her of my problem areas and she immediately began to make me feel better. I wish I lived in the area to return frequently - the experience definitely warrants coming back! I had a deep tissue massage with a biofreeze addition and my extremely sore muscles are feeling much better. Thank you so much, Miss Tonya! Wonderful experience at La Vida! The atmosphere is calming, the staff friendly, and the massage therapists are skilled! I recently booked a massage with Hope, and I feel great! I highly recommend the hot stone massage, even though they charge $20 more for it. I get massages a lot, but found that Hope did a more thorough job in terms of working on my back where it needed it most, versus doing the same massage procedure on each client etc. She took the time to really find those knots! read more

The absolute worst massage i have ever received. The overall professionalism of this place is great. The manager was great. But the massage therapists were terrible. My boyfriend left worse than he came. His shoulder is in pain. I think the lady pulled his arm the wrong way. My therapist pretty much just rubbed lotion on my legs. I came in to get rid of soreness in my legs and i left still sore and not relaxed. I left with sand in between my toes from the foot scrub and that was really uncomfortable. They don't issue refunds. Unfortunately. If i could i would get these therapists 0 stars. Sorry. read more

I'm a regular customer and had a massage booked with my regular therapist. Just before my appointment they called to cancel saying that the therapist was unable to make it because of a shoulder injury. They offered a replacement. I declined, asking them to call me when they could book something for me with my regular therapist, and they accordingly promised to put me "at the top of the list." Three weeks later I called to see what the status was. I suspected it might take a few weeks for her to sort out her shoulder issue. Then I learned she is permanently no longer an employee and nobody called me to tell me. I pointed out that they had promised to call me about it and she told me, "we've been busy." I booked an appointment with a new therapist. When I arrived for my appointment I had to wait ten minutes before the front desk assistant appeared. During the time I waited, I listened to her have a conversation with someone through the thin walls separating what must be the back office from the front desk. When she finally appeared stammering and struggling to come up with something to say, "Uhh... sorry.... I had to do something." A massage at a spa should be a relaxing time. These people manage to do the opposite and will have you ready to pull your hair out. Right now I'm trying to recover the $89 they charged me for the massage I never received. read more

The atmosphere is very relaxed and puts you in the right mood. The staff care about helping you relax, which may sound normal but from what I have experienced some therapists can be very awkward. They have great first time offers, but the regular rates are a bit pricey considering all of the options in the Ballantyne area. On February 6 during the tornado I had a massage appointment at 1:15. I called them earlier that day knowing of the inclement weather and asked to change my appointment. They said I could not and would have to pay $25 cancellation fee. It would be okay to charge the fee if there wasn't a tornado less than 8 miles from where I live. I have a 6, 5,and newborn and I wasn't going to leave them and drive in a tornado. Horrible customer service. Will never return. read more
