Let's set the scene: You wake up the morning of a work and travel day with a horrendous crick in your neck. You go to work for the morning, drive an hour to the airport, and then sit in the most perfect posture possible to not cause further pain for, not one, but two delayed flights. When I tell you that Dylan and Balance Massage saved my entire trip, I mean it wholeheartedly. My sister was so glad to see Dylan had availability to save my shoulder and neck, because she is fully aware of how I get when I have muscle pains. I booked a 90 minute hot stone massage, and Dylan put in WORK for all 90 minutes. As an avid massage enjoyer (I have held memberships with different massage therapy companies for the past 5 years), I truly believe this was the best massage I've ever had. I mentioned to Dylan that I get massages every month and that I would definitely need the deepest tissue massage possible - he delivered from the first minute to the last. Especially with 90 minute massages, therapists need to take a break from the deep tissue and work on hands and feet and other more gentle spots. But Dylan understood that I needed my neck and shoulder to be normal again and mostly focused on my problem areas for the entire 90 minutes. I scheduled a 120 minutes custom massage. As I entered the room, I smelled burnt rubber/electric/bread. I asked if there was a restaurant nearby where the smell could be coming in. I was told there was a domino's pizza next door. I changed and laid on the bed. The smell intensified. After a few minutes, the masseuse stopped to remove the crock pot that warms up the stones. The smell was the crock pot burning. The masseuse then asked if I wanted an essential oil to diffuse the smell. The masseuse opened the essential oil. I should have asked for a different room as I am sensitive to smells, but I didn't. The smell was alarming and concerning. The massage itself was nice. The masseuse was a very nice woman. Since I booked custom massage through ClassPass, I wasn't asked what customization I wanted. read more

Not sure why there are so many 5 star ratings. I'm thinking I got a poor massage therapist. Hardly any pressure. Didn't even touch my lower back and barely worked out the knots I had in my back. I'm not sure how you give a decent massage sitting down the entire time. I'd return if I knew who to ask for but my therapist wasn't good. On today, my girlfriend was scheduled for an massage at your spa for 9:30 that was CANCELLED at 9:30 as she was standing in the office. Highly disappointed she said "ok", can she get in the Sauna and that was unavailable as well!!!! She was looking forward to this appointment for 3/4 days and now we are left scrambling for a massage therapist on a Monday. Im not sure If this is how you run your spa establishment, but it's very disappointing to start your week off like this. I received an email to give a "review" a day after my massage. It went to a page owned by the business and 3 days later, no one has reached out and my "review" isn't showing up in the business page, only a handful of 5 star reviews so I need my review to be heard. First off, I show up at my appointment that had been scheduled for a month to be told that the massage therapist that I had been seeing for months was no longer there. I had been assigned to another random therapist. No one had called me to let me know or ask what I preferred. I let it go and moved on. The massage began like normal, I was asked if there were specific issues that needed to be addressed and we discussed firmness. We agree on "firm". It's worth mentioning that I showed up to my appointment ON TIME. I had to sit in the waiting area for about 5 minutes and then about 2-3 minutes talking and a few minutes to undress and get ready and wait for the massage to begin. You can imagine at this point it is about 10 or so minutes past my scheduled appointment time when the massage began. During the massage, it was almost like I was getting massage oil simply rubbed on my back. No pressure whatsoever for most of the massage. I sit here 4 days after with what I have noticed as the most tension in my neck and shoulders that I have had in a long time which is not typical for the few days following a massage. When the massage was over, I sat up and looked at the clock. You can imagine my surprise when it was exactly 1 hour after my SCHEDULED appointment time. Not the time my massage started. I sat out in the waiting room waiting on the person I can with who got her full massage. I gave 2 stars because up until this specific visit, I had no issues whatsoever. I won't be returning after this experience and knowing the person who I was returning to is no longer there. I only hope this can be avoided for future potential clients. Communication goes a long way. Let your clients know when there is a change. And, although it seems pretty common knowledge, don't short clients for what they are paying for. read more

I really struggled with going to a new therapist after my regular massage therapist moved too far away. I spent some time on Google and Yelp to find Balance Massage had the best reviews - so I took a shot. Jen Brogan is FANTASTIC! I want to take her home and hide her in my closet! I came to this class with very little flexibility and multiple injuries. The instructors have taken the time to work with me and really focus on correction and recovery. It has been amazing! Every teacher has a different style that brings something new to my practice. The massage studio is also great and I feel an extension of the work I do in the yoga class. something was telling me not to book an appointment for $50 massage for first time clients? but i wanted my fiancé to come and we were under budget we should had just waited! since my fiancée couldn't get the same appointment time we decided to cancel for him and i would just go. As i am writing this review, i am waiting outside the place when i had a 12PM APPOINTMENT, waiting someone to open the doors because the door is locked and the place looks completely empty! we have called so many time and no one has answered, we just want our refund back! this is so unprofessional and nobody should even bother with this place! EDIT: got our refund back, after talking to both them and '(Mindbody because they said it was their responsible to give our refund back, which it wasn't) they finally looked into it after a lot of miscommunication emails. Again i won't be bother with this again but they definitely should found a better solution with their scheduling software or fix the problem the told me about so this doesn't to another client. read more

Of all the studios I've been to (FL, NC, IL, WA) Tina was my favorite instructor. She is a great instructor for beginners. Meets people where they are in their physical ability, and gives more experienced students harder poses if needed. While on vacation I often try to get a new studio. If I knew she was teaching I'd try to plan my day around that class! She was also one of the instructors that inspired me to get certified to teach. read more

Studio owner TINA BROGAN is the best teacher I have come across. I have been practicing Bikram yoga (or, as it has now come to be known as, "Traditional Hot Yoga" from the Ghosh lineage) for almost twenty years. I have practiced in studios across the country and am so grateful that Tina teaches in the greater Charlotte area. Tina does not just lead the class, she teaches it. Every time I take a class with Tina, I learn something new. They are the same 26 postures they have always been, but Tina finds a way to explain something just a little differently that makes the posture almost new again. The studio is beautiful and always spotless. It has a laid back and supportive atmosphere you will appreciate and every teacher provides a fantastic class imprinted by her own energy and style. I've been getting massages from Jen Brogan for years and thought it's time I shared my love publicly! I've always had tight "crunchy" muscles and have been getting massages since my late teens. Twenty years later I can honestly say Jen is the best massage I have ever gotten and it's such a relief to have her. I love the consistency of the massages I get and the focus on my problem areas. Jen has massaged me through two of my pregnancies as well and is one of the only in the area that I know of that has the real pregnancy pillow which is SO KEY for a good prenatal massage! Recently I went to a yoga class. The class was wonderful! Taught by a Bikram yoga instructor. I absolutely loved it! I can not wait to return for another class. The instructor was professional and knew what she was doing. The room temperature was in accordance with Bikram policies. I also got a massage on a separate occasion, and it was wonderful. Just experienced my first massage here with Nelissa and she is amazingly effective. Being an RN and having massages most of my life, makes me wonder why more therapists cannot be like her; it takes a certain passion, for sure! The facility is marvelous and the extras are great! I have a very arthritic back and have been very limited physically for years. I worked with Janna over the last few weeks using her certified Thai Massage technique. Thai massage "combines slow gentle stretching techniques, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, deep tissue compressions and neuromuscular therapy to increase flexibility, mobility and release tense muscles". I have to admit that I was concerned at first as most physical activity usually ends up with me suffering for weeks on end. Janna was very careful both in her pre-massage consultation and throughout the massage by asking me questions along the way. Honestly, I've never felt better. Not only did I leave without pain but I felt better than I have in years. Janna works at Balance Yoda and Massage in Tega Cay. It's a new facility operated by sisters Jennifer and Tina Brogan.
