We were visiting England and our friends decided in having lunch at Laville. This West London Italian restaurant was pleasant experience to all of us. Turns out, it was also their first time here as well. The canal view is the selling point of this compact eatery by the water. The crew was nice and attentive. The food was as good as an Italian place would be. My wife loved her Seafood Pasta and I really liked my Misto Fritti. Came here with friends with a reservation for 3:15pm but we came in early and they sat us right away while waiting for the rest of the party. This place is located in what you call the Little Venice of London with a view of London's canals. This was a really good find by our Londoner friends as food and service was amazing. To top it all, view was divine. Our table ordered the following food and beverage: Spaghetti carbonara Lasagna Cabernet sauvignon Gamberoni All'aglio Misto Fritti Seafood Pasta Coke Reservation is optional but better to secure a spot. That 5th star goes solely for the location. The food could be terrible and it would hardly matter with such a lovely view of the river and surrounding neighbourhood. The inside - while small - is also pleasantly cozy, and comes complete with a sun roof to let in some extra light throughout the day. It's also in a quieter part of town, so it's definitely a lovely area to walk through if you're traveling via tube from the stations nearby. The menu is straight-up Italian fare, with a full gamut of pizzas, pastas, desserts, and drinks. The service is also Italian, so depending on the time and day you walk in, you might be getting some of that rough Italian love where you're not sure if they're happy to see you or not. My friend and I ordered 2 different pizzas from their menu - one vegetarian and the other a meat-based pizza. While not the most amazing pies I've ever had, they also weren't bad. The ingredients were definitely fresh, and we saw them being made in their wood-fired oven on one side of the restaurant. The portions were also hefty enough that even our starved stomachs walked away unpleasantly full. I don't know if I would recommend traveling across town for this particular neighbourhood gem, but if you happen to be in the area, you could definitely do worse. read more

Fantastic food... scenic setting and friendly service-- our waitress and the owner were very attentive. This small family run restaurant sits on one of the bridges overlooking the canal in the Maida Vale neighborhood... it's a great spot for dinner or dessert. They have their own Italian pizza oven everything is made fresh on site. Pizza, crab ravioli special, bolognese pasta and the carbonara were all very tasty-- we also really enjoyed the cheese plate and garlic bread they made up for us as an appetizer. For dessert don't miss the Tiramisu!! Great experience all around finished off with some limoncello shots -- we will be back! read more

What a lovely cafe - family owned, and wow, such kind, personable folks. Made us feel like friends . Location is over the canal - picturesque, romantic, and just beautiful. On top of that delicious food and coffee and reasonable prices. My daughter had an English breakfast, I had the steak and eggs - best meal I had the whole trip! In fact... the food was so good, my younger twin daughters asked to order an additional steak and more beans after they tried to steal all of mine and their older sister's food! After a long tourist day of walking our feet off, we happened upon this little treasure. It was the best food I had on the trip. I loved the location and watching the long boats pass under us. Nice location in little Venice, so there is a view of the canal. One unusual thing is that roughly about five minutes after ordering, the food came out. It was suspiciously fast. How could you cook homemade pasta in such a short period of time? The risotto was super salty. No fragrance to it. The ravioli was ok. Didn't taste fresh. My son had buttered pasta. They charged 12 pounds! The pizzas seem like they could be freshly made, as I could see pizza being loaded into a pizza oven. I agree with other reviewers that the menu was overpriced. Nice scenery located on top of little Venice waterway. Cafe is located on a small bridge with water views. Lots of glass in dining area for full view. Food, very good. I had 'the Brit' breakfast. Eggs, beans, sausage etc were finished nicely. Service was good. We had 'the old man' as our server. After reading another post about the old man service, I would say he has a style all his own. I embraced the way he wanted my wife and I to share the same bubbly water instead of still and bubbly. We also embraced the way my wife ordered the eggs Benedict with ham but received it with smoked salmon. She was leaning toward the smoked salmon so in the end the 'old man' served what she wanted. . He hustles and was keen on his craft. He made sure he attended to his mid day Sunday customers. After breakfast take a stroll down little Venice water way to top off a nice afternoon. read more

Ok, so definitely won't be seeing a Gondola passing through with the striped shirt Gondolier or anything hahaha. Like seriously, I don't know what these people in these reviews have been seeing and I know this is called Little Venice, but this to me felt more like an Amsterdam canal. None the less, it's a great view for the area. But, I'm just saying. We wanted to go out a for a bit in the evening as we had an AirBnb within walking distance and did not want to venture out to Central London. This place fit the bill perfectly. I wasn't overly hungry, so I chose the grilled calamari and it was perfectly light and fresh. The Gnocchi was also shared and I believe homemade from the texture, but I didn't ask so I'm not 100% on this. Both enjoyable meals with nice relaxing ambiance. So I may have been expecting too much or the staff may have been overwhelmed by the amount of people there that day dining with their children. A LOT of children. This does not seem like the kind of place I would bring kids. Whatever. Kids have to eat too & parents might not be able to afford a babysitter. My friend & I arrived at approximately 2pm on a SUN afternoon. Got a lovely table with a nice view of the canal. Decided on a spinach salad to split as a starter. She ordered risotto con funghi for her entree and I ordered the tortellini with spinach & ricotta filling in ragu sauce. Unfortunately both our entrees arrived before the salad. We mentioned the salad & said never mind now that we had our entrees. She still brought it 5 min later and I should have sent it back but it did look good & I love spinach. Friends risotto was undercooked & they used too heavy a hand with the truffle oil. Needed more Parmesan cheese too. My tortellini was adequate. Good size portion at least but taste was flat. We each had leftovers & took them to go. I mixed the leftover spinach salad into my tortellini and was able to reheat it the next day with extra Parmesan & cracked pepper. My friend decided not to eat her leftovers as the excessive amount of oil upset her stomach. read more

The best thing about this cafe is it's location. It sits on a bridge spanning a canal and you get a clear view down the waterway. It's a lovely spot. We had the tuna Niçoise salad which comes with fresh tuna. Boiled eggs were overcooked and the salad wasn't authentic but it was tasty enough. Definitely get it with anchovies! £40 For two salads and two beers including service. read more

I've been wanting to visit this place for a while now as it has a wonderful view of the canal here in Little Venice. The place can get really busy on a Sunday around lunch time but once you're sat down you can enjoy your food and relax. I had eggs benedict with salmon and a cup of tea and was very happy with the result. The egg was soft and liquid in the middle and the salmon and sauce went great with it. I definitely think that it's the simple classic flavours like these that make a great Sunday brunch. The staff were friendly but they did seem a little bit overwhelmed by the people so I'd say it may be best to give them some time to get on with it. I'm definitely going back there for more breakfasts, even some cake and tea in the afternoon, and I'm looking forward to see how this is going to look with snow. read more

Although it's in the tourist guidebooks, there are few people around to clutter the canal. Laville is situated atop the picturesque canal surrounded by the beauty of the water, swans and a beautiful bridge. This restaurant is a charming place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This place takes bookings so definitely would recommend making one. We stumbled upon this cafe so were once again lucky to get seated at one of the best tables you can get at the place. Very, very reasonable prices and fresh & delicious food to match. The service was incredible. Even though it was manic with only two people servicing the entire restaurant, the service was 5 stars. I give this place one star because I can't give it zero. The only thing going for it is the view. Everything else was disastrous. The presentation of the meals is horrible. Taste like cardboard in oil. Service was poor. They basically forgot about us after meals came even though we wanted drinks. No one to take the order. Plenty of nicer places to eat in the area. My advise is walk by for the view and eat elsewhere. read more

This was not the first time that I visited Cafe Laville. But somehow yesterday evening I enjoyed it a whole lot more. The sunny and warm London evening really accentuated the location of the place. Sitting on the terrace above the canal and watching the boats travel under the place really made the experience a whole lot better. The staff were very attentive and really friendly. We only had drinks this time, with a funny combination of a Ginger beer for me, a cappuccino for my friend's girlfriend, and a glass of champagne for Mark. One gripe that I do have, is that they don't seem to make a lots of effort for the price you pay for some of the soft drinks. My ginger beer was just a standard can of Old Jamaican, that they charged nearly 2 quid for it! I have eaten here before, but as it hasn't been for some time, I will not mention my previous experience. I will wait until I return here to give a much better and more current perspective. All in all, a pleasant visit and I'll look forward to returning here on another lovely London summer day! read more

As others have said, great views from this cafe quite in contrast to the Edgeware Road it is located on. Can get a bit noisy at weekend with families with young (screaming) children, but the breakfasts are great. Cafe (at least when I've been there) only takes payment in cash no cards accepted. read more

There is no place like Cafe Laville. I've stopped in here for dinner, for a glass of wine, for breakfast, and once just for a cup of tea. It's such a tiny little place, but with such great quality food, and oh... yes, the location! Cafe Laville literally sits on the Canal in Little Venice. As in, the canal runs beneath it. You can not beat the view from this cafe. The fact that the menu is gorgeous as well is simply a bonus. read more

This place is a bit underwhelming. My husband and I stopped in for late lunch and ordered the chicken Cesar salad and a spaghetti with Bolognese sauce. The waitress had a snarky look on her face and she quickly took my order and seemed to keep eyeing our table as the food came out. I caught her looking, smiled and she looked away. Pretty weird.
