Initial estimate was over $2000 higher that three other companies. They came back and offered something more reasonable and kept checking back. ( over period of about a week). When I finally accepted their more reasonable offer, they tried to tell me that quote was only good that day cause their were in the area that day. Another lie - their first quote and follow up more reasonable offer was given relatively late in the day - no way they could have started work that day and no mention of the more reasonable offer being based on them being " in the area". Only when I said I would accept their more reasonable offer - take it or leave were they willing to honor their more reasonable offer. No discussion of discounts at that time. Told them I needed to see in writing their documents for license/insured/ bonded and quote/ scope before starting work. they started work without presenting any of this. by the time I got home from work - they were wrapping up. 35% coupon came in the mail before they started work and after we agreed upon a price and scope - talking about a two day window here. The coupon is meant to get their foot in the door. from other reviews -looks like they routinely will not honor it. When I presented the coupon - they refused to honor it. Claimed it was "included" in the original quote - absolute lie. Some of the workers were drinking beer while working - high risk work and alcohol not a good mix. Get it in writing up front. happily no one got hurt.

I would wait a few days and call them back and they would give me an excuse then tell me they would go by that afternoon and call me back with an estimate. That never happened. Finally I called 5 Star in North Augusta last Saturday. I told them that I had only one stump. I said that I have had a hard time getting one stump removed. They replied that they were on another job but that they would take care of that before going home for the evening. They also quoted me a great price and showed up late afternoon to take care of my problem. Courteous, efficient and thorough. I was delighted and gave them an unexpected $100 tip. If you are on a budget or having a problem getting tree people to just do what they say that they will do, then give these guys a call. In January 2022 Eric the owner of this company came out and did an estimate for my landscaping. I have a medium size backyard (3600 sq ft) and was having general yard cleaning, a sprinkler system and sod installed. I was told that they could begin in late February or the first week in March and finish before Masters. They finished at the end of May. IT TOOK THEM FOUR MONTHS TO DO 7 DAYS OF WORK! The owner Eric and I had already agreed to additional landscaping and sod in the front yard. That was supposed to be done in June, then July, then by the end of the summer. In October I was told by Eric that it would be best if I waited for the sod until March of 2023. They could put the sod down in the fall (of 2022) but it might not make it and that would be on me. AFTER WAITING FIVE MONTHS I WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD WAIT AN ADDITIONAL SIX MONTHS! HORRIBLE COMMUNICATIONS! I would email, text or call and leave messages. Even after Eric and I had a conversation specifically about this issue, multiple times HE WOULDN'T RESPOND FOR WEEKS OR EVEN A MONTH OR MORE! All along I was being told that the delays were due to lack of employees or materials. I was trying to be flexible with the timeline but was just being taken advantage of. The final straw was when the owner Eric told me that he was having problems keeping up with a new residential housing development that he recently got the contract for. So, HE GOT A NEW JOB AND LEFT ME HANGING, even thought we had been discussing this since January. Finally, this February (2023) I noticed that there were several large patches of dirt where the sod had been laid. I called Eric to see if he would replace the sod. I explained that I was only talking about the dirt areas where the sod had clearly died. He said that he would definitely call me back with a time that he would stop by to look at it. It has been 2 weeks and no contact what so ever. No surprise there. I regret the day I even heard of this company. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!

John, one of the foreman who works for Jon, was ready to provide us an extremely reasonable quote and lower than the competitors. He let us know approximately when they would start and how long it would take. They called the day before to keep us updated. They started early and stayed until it was completed. They did an amazing job!! We had just had some landscaping done in our front yard which surrounded an old oak that had lost a huge limb. We needed the tree taken down as it was hollow. Tre, (who was the foreman for our job) and his crew did an amazing job as well as we're meticulous about the new landscaped area. We were just in awe of how Tre's team could drop huge limbs from a tree without injury to the surrounding lawn. Our neighbors even commented on how clean the lawn looked! They took 6 pine trees down for us and ground them down to a point that unless you knew there were trees there, you would not know anything was removed. Also, we had a very small magnolia tree next to one of the pines and they expertly were able to keep it. We also had a beach gum tree nestled next to a cedar. Hoping we could keep the cedar and cut and grind out the beach gum, Jon (the owner) was able to do that And also grind the stump nicely down.
