Negative experience with Dr. Blum as a new patient. Dr. Blum was completely uninterested in even discussing my particular issue (headaches from glasses) let alone resolving it, and was super dismissive to the point of rudeness each time I asked a question. I also didn't receive the full exam that I paid for (eye dilation) just the refraction test that should have been free with my vision insurance. Safe to say I won't be going back. I didn't have the issues others describe about the front desk staff, they were actually great the three times I spoke with them (phone and in person.) read more

To begin this review is about three different parts of this office Doctor Blum is an excellent doctor & nice person and this should not deter from seeking his assistance - Front desk woman there is a very mean unhappy depressing woman at the desk that has been there as long as I know and is just not a great customer facing person at ALL she makes me not want to stay there for another second if I didn't have to I would be happy to be there the day she's fired with bells on - I've bought and my insurance has paid for multiple glasses from the store section of the office My mother ended up buying a a pair of sunglasses which were NOT prescription from this store She decided she didn't like them about three days later and we could not return or exchange for another pair and there are no details as such on the receipt What store such as TOM FORD which is the brand doesn't allow a return time of at least a week? Also the store claims to be a separate entity aside from the office but yet receipts say Blum ? Stop playing games with people because Karma comes with a storm YOUR LUCKY I DIDNT BUY THESE GLASSES BECAUSE YOU WOULD HAVE TAKEN THEM BACK FOR SURE I suggest you take my exchange or this review will stand as a testament I would understand not exchanging a prescription order but this was not the case I like Mr Blum but myself and many other people I know have had similar experiences as above Thank you read more

Was in a desperate search for an eye doctor for my daughter and went to Blum eye center since its near our place. We tried walking in and as i approached the lady in the registration, (who obviously seemed to ignore a possible patient.) She did not even look at me as i was standing at the counter in front of her for a good 1 minute. I greeted her good morning and she did not even respond. I asked if they take walk ins for an eye exam and with a straight face she said "no". So i asked when is the next available date and she responded Sept4. Our "very unwelcoming and disappointing conversation" happened in less than 3 minutes and her without even looking at me. Maybe stapling the papers on her hands are more important than attending to a client. Will not go back to this office only if to be faced by the rude staff!!!! read more

I was so impressed with Dr. Blum that he is now the Ophthalmologist for both myself and my mother. As patient of Dr Lawrence Blum I would highly recommend him for his great and legitimate services as well as the staff of his office. I am going to bring you some cases that I and my family were greatfully satisfied. My baby grandson was born eyecrossed.We were very worried not knowing what to do. In 2004 my daughter decided to see Eyedoctor in our area which was Kew Gardens .we found out his name as Dr Lawrence Blum (by that time he has office on 119 str.and Metropolitan ave . After few examination Dr .Blum suggested to go for an operation . We were shocked not knowing the outcomes of the operation.Finally we were agreed and now my grandson (17 years old man )is handsome and beautiful man. The next case is worse than first for my family . All of a sudden (it happened in 2016 ) my husband 's left eye became narrowed . We didn't know the reason went to see eyedoctor in Forest Hills as well as in Kew Gardens . But not Dr Blum that time . So they were prescribing eyedros medication (each of them $60-80) we did it have choices using the drops. Nothing helped . The eye gets worse . After all he agreed to see Dr Lawrence Blum. That time we entered beautiful wide well furnished office , clean with the staff so nicely greeted. My husband liked it and he agreed to see the Dr Blum .The atmosphere was very pleasant. When the Dr checked his right eye he found no problems.Then he start to look his left eye He turned his chair towards me and said "his eye is fine he has tumor in his head " and immediatly send for MRI. We were really shocked for such a high professionalism to lead us to the right direction. There we again understood that Dr Lawrence Blum is really honest doctor working for the safe of patients . Recently I went thru cataract operation .It was very successful without any problem .evrything was on time ,no any delays . What I like is :the office is always with patient but you don't feel waiting period because you are surrounded by polite personal,books,magazines,TV and order of the work itself. Every staff knows their duty ,quiet atmosphere. And again if anyone is in need for Eyedoctor it should be Dr Lawrence Blum. I have been going to Dr. Blum for over 4years, today was my last visit. His staff needs some major training. 1st person I saw called me a liar. 2nd person was busy burning a candle so couldn't answer my questions. Instead she basically called me old and told me I needed a test due to diabetes. I'm not now nor have I ever been diabetic. I just wanted a new prescription. Never got it because after waiting 90 minutes I never saw the doctor. Maybe his staff needs a Starbucks training! read more

Went back recently and had another great experience. Everybody was super nice. VERY thorough exam, including the visual fields test. Dr. Blum is very kind. I know based on the way he comforted a developmentally-challenged young man. If you drive there you probably won't find street parking. Staff clued me into a parking garage literally around the corner from the office. They're called Alliance Parking (allianceparkingservices.com) and are located at 116-24 Grosvenor Lane, Kew Gardens, NY 11415 (at Grosvenor Lane and Metropolitan Ave.) It's pretty hidden away down a small alley so, if you're not looking for it, you may miss it. Continue on Metropolitan Ave (the eye center on your left) and right past it make a left onto Grosvenor Lane (a narrow one-way street). Garage is immediately on your left. $8 for 5 hours. Pretty good deal. Cures that parking anxiety. read more

Deborah at Dr. Blum's office is completely unprofessional. Although I didn't go to see Dr. Blum his receptionist was very rude and unprofessional. She had a Verizon technician in the office and was unhappy with the service. I have no problem with that. What I did have a problem with was the manner in which she spoke to the technician in the presence of the patients. In addition she went on to voice her opinion about how she felt Verizon workers should have remained on strike, didn't need a raise or any benefits. As a Verizon employee and a union member I told her she should watch what she says because she doesn't know who is in her presence. She said she didn't care because it was true. I informed her that it is because of our benefits that she gets paid. She was completely unprofessional. If you have an issue you DO NOT voice it in the presence of your patients. Based on the reviews it seems like Dr. Blum is an excellent doctor but just based on my experience with his staff I will never visit his practice. I will make sure that all of my fellow Verizon and union workers are aware of the incident as well. read more

If I could give a 0 out of five, I would. This is supposed to be a pediatric optometrist, do not come here if you want to learn more about your child's eyes! I'm not sure what the name of the doctor is I saw, because he walked did not introduce himself, just said your son needs glasses, as I waited for more of an explanation, like he has a stigmatism or he is struggles to see far away, he said do you even speak English!!!! I was waiting for you to explain, why he needs glasses doctor! When I said yes I do speak English, and started to ask questions, he seemed annoyed and even said it's not like he has a disease. This is my child and he's starting to wear glasses at a very early age, he didn't know a lot or possess skills to even assist in understanding the numbers. His idea of a good practice is passive immigrants that he can steal money from. A complete racist, disturbing experience. Do not go to this doctor, he is not patient or kind! He does not know how to handle children. Please look for someone that is professional and deserves your money. He is not worth supporting at all. This is probAbly the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. Oh yeah and the wait is 3 hrs after your appointment. That's just the icing on the disgusting doctor experience. read more
