Hands down one of the best Doctor I've visited as many others have mentioned. I only wish I found Dr. Dong earlier I would be visiting his practice a lot more often. I bought a pair of glasses online and needed some adjustments, not only they were able to see me on the same day I didn't even need to make an appointment nor be a current patient. When I arrived I was promptly greeted and Dr. Dong saw me pretty much right away. They were both very friendly and professional and the adjustment took only maybe 5-10 minutes. I was quite happy with my visit and glad they are part of our insurance plan. The entrance is a little hard to find since 80-02 building is a large office building but the front desk would be able to help if you need help locating. I have been seeing Dr. Dong for over 3 years now (recommended by a close friend) and have always had a pleasant experience and thorough exam. He is punctual with appointments and takes the time to explain the process as well as answer any questions thoroughly. Everyone in the office is friendly and attentive. TL/DR: Dr. Dong and Alice runs a caring mom and pop eye shop that wants to make sure you get exactly what you need without having to overspend on eyeglasses. I recently visited for an eye exam and new glasses. Dr. Dong's office is this this unassuming little space on the ground floor corner of a business complex that is directly above the Union Turnpike/Kew Gardens train station. The front entrance is a small waiting area, to the left are frame displays, and to the back are the exam rooms. Walked in, checked in, and got down to business. The exam took about an hour as we went through all the tests. Dr. Dong was patient and thorough, and explained everything in detail. He definitely gives off caring parent vibes, which, is pretty refreshing as many other places I've been to just sort of go through the motions. After coming up with a prescription, and helping me run down the prices, Alice helped me choose a pair of frames that were discounted through my insurance. Have come here twice now and plan to return as long as Dr. Dong is practicing or until/if I move away from Queens. Excellent doctor - very clear and concise. Happy to answer any questions. I asked him about LASIK and gave me his honest opinion and let me know about the recent FDA study from about a year ago. Doctor Dong is a most reliable, patient and kind doctor. He definitely explains well, and always has a course of action planned for any situation I've brought myself or my children or my mother in. My sister and her daughter switched from whoever she was seeing, to Doctor Dong after I've raved about him and she agrees he is the best. Alice runs a tight ship at the reception desk. She is friendly, kind, and communicates efficiently. I am so thankful to both for their years of amazing service and care. Dr. Stephen Dong is one of best doctors we have in NY. He was always professional and took the time to answer any questions I had regarding the test results or various options. His honesty is much appreciated in an era where doctors are more interested in pushing wares to generate additional profit. For the last five years I've been to his office, he has always told me straight up that I do not need glasses or contacts nor did he try to sell the glasses he stocks in contrast to some of the other eye doctors I visited over the years. If you're in Queens or can garner a weekend appointment, I highly recommend Dr. Dong's office. I came here for an eye exam and Dr. Dong was very thorough with the exam. He tested both my eyes & the pressure in my eyes as well. I waited about two weeks for my eye glasses. They have a wide variety of frames to choose from! And Dr. Dongs assistant is more than helpful with helping you choose a pair that fits the frame of your face. I'm really happy with my eyeglasses! I came in to pick them up today & they felt really natural walking with them on. He takes his time with you and a very thorough guy with his explanations; answers any questions I had patiently and suggest the best options to me for my contacts as well as explaining price points for different contacts. My wife and I were greeted by a polite, soft spoken, but highly professional woman who took all my information. She then gave me an initial eye exam which was thorough and proficient. After a few minutes, I met Dr. Dong who asked me a few questions and then went right to work pinpointing my eyes issues. You could tell he was experienced and enjoyed what he was doing, this put me at ease realizing the reviews I had read about the Dr. were indeed true. He was very detailed, and I never felt rushed or that I was just another patient. After, I picked my frames, (Big Selection) he then did few more tests with the frames.
