My family came to Layaly Beirut for lunch after driving to Interlaken from Zurich to see the nearby lakes. It was snowing outside and we were hungry after our drive, and we found that the food here was just what we needed to continue our trip. For a family of five we ordered three skewer platters (two chicken and one beef kebabs). Since we were particularly hungry, I think that we would have benefitted from ordering another plate or two (each plate came with two kebabs), but it was all delicious! We especially liked the bread that they provided, and I enjoyed the hummus and baba ghanoush as well. The meat was very tender and soft, and the wait staff was also very courteous. After a few days of eating European food, it was nice to just eat some chicken and rice. I won't be returning to Switzerland for a while, so I unfortunately won't be able to come back to Layaly Beirut, but I leave this review here so that others may try the tasty Lebanese cuisine served at this establishment. read more

Good location. Although service is a touch spotty, this is overshadowed by the great food. Mixed grill platter is terrific. Lamb, beef, and chicken skewers provide a sampling of the various meat kebabs and all are scrumptious and juicy. Rice is excellent and the pita is spot on. Hummus and babaganoush are vintage, and the meal is capped with a complimentary rice pudding which knocks it out of the park. We stopped by here after a long day of hiking and it was exactly what we needed to satisfy our hunger. We got seated pretty quickly since we arrived quite late in the evening. If I recall correctly, the hours were not exactly correct on google and they were open a bit later. We had called in to ensure the kitchen was open. We passed by the restaurant several other times and it was always packed with a long line. I do recommend planning ahead. We got the mixed grill. I have to say that the beef kebab was the best of the 3 kebabs on the plate. If I was to go back I would take a full plate of beef. The toum and hummus and babaganoush were amazing as well. Tried this place on recommendation of our AirBNB host. Easy to get reservation online. Doesn't look too fancy at first but they have some of the coolest most colorful lights above each table. The food was excellent. The beef kafta was my favorite. The hummus and baba ghanoush were excellent. The rice was really good, much preferred over the fries. Only minor issue was the chicken. The chicken on the chicken plate was flavored well but was not tender at all. Seemed almost dried out a bit. I've never had Lebanese food even in California but we got the kafta platter that came with 2 beef skewers and wow so good! We shared one platter between me and my wife and it was almost perfect in amount. If we had 2 more skewers on the platter then I would have been super satisfied! The food ; the service outstanding. We were a table of 6 people with 1 person with some food allergies and another a pure vegetarian. Never have I experienced genuine concern and care to cater to special needs like this. Our server and possibly the owner was so very gracious - even offered us 2 deserts on the house and their special honey to go. I'm going to be honest, I didn't want to share my meal with my family. After finishing half, I could not keep the encroaching forks away any longer, and soon my meal was gone. I was forced to order two more full orders just so I could get my fill, we all could not get enough. Fresh pita, sauces all had a ton of flavor. To find a restaurant that prepares simple food in such a tasty way it's all I ever need. Can't believe this was in Switzerland. Best meal we had since arriving in Switzerland! Attentive and friendly service- came to our table several times to check on us. We ordered the chicken skewer and the kafta. It was very flavorful and tender. It was not dried at all. The portion size was large comes with rice, salad, babagonoush, hummus and pita bread. The best food in Interlaken/lauterbrunnen/Grindelwald area. Authentic Lebanese. Our party (family of four) ordered an appetizer and the platters (chicken/steak/kafta). Platters come with baba ghanouj, hommos, a salad, fries or rice. Two types of rice to choose from (biryani type or white), plus of course the hot off the oven pita bread. They also have pilsner/lager beer, a good enough list of wines and a full bar. If u r in the area AND hungry, go there! My picky eater kids (from the USA) finished their platters! We found Layaly here on Yelp and just let me say that you NEED to go there and give yourself a real Middle Eastern treat! We ordered the vegetarian plate and the Marinated Lamb plate called Sheaff Teller. Both were served with babaganoush and humus. The veggie also had at least 10 different items including a salad. The lamb had been cooked perfectly and was accompanied with yellow long grain rice and salad. Also served were pita breads which were freshly baked. Service was excellent and friendly. English was understood. Also three sauces were supplied, The first being a pungent garlic sauce the second being a mildly warm chili sauce red and the third being a yogurt-based sesame sauce. The sauces are to be used as garnishes. A bonus Pita, somewhat like a Armenian lachmajoun but with sesame and spices was served topped with green olives, fresh mint and sliced tomato on top. When all is said and done we must give Laylay a five star rating which was well deserved. read more

Very disappointed with this place despite glowing Yelp reviews. First off the service was awful, we had to ask two different waiters for forks - both ignored our request. I ended up having to go get forks myself from their stock. We weren't given a menu for the longest time, and we had to flag someone down for them to take our order. Secondly there were flies everywhere, and the back door kept blowing open sending blasts of wind to our table. The food was extremely mediocre. I ordered the Kafta Teller/Platter, which came with minced lamb, bread, hummus, babaghanouj, salad, and fries. The bread was cold and tough, the meat was bland and the amount paltry, and we could barely tell the difference between the hummus and babaghanouj.
