- 10 Star Steller service! - Sooo, I'm in my MickyD's parking lot sipping on my 99-cent breakfast Iced Coffee and my car battery died! As this is a PG rated review, "Oh crap!" I needed a new battery. Customer Service- I called these fine folks, and a very nice employee told me that the owner Matt would be there to help me within 15 minutes! That's right, the owner of a business that's been in operation since 1958 was coming to help! He showed up in less than 15 minutes, jumped my car within seconds, and explained where and how to park my car at his place. Very efficient staff checked me in and took my keys. Ambience- I plunked myself down in a comfortable chair and noticed the very nice couch and flat-screen tv. Within minutes Matt came out and quoted a fair price and said it would be done quickly. Rest Rooms- At one point I headed for the restrooms and laughed out loud and the sign on each door! See my picture. Now I know why the men's room was eat-off-the-floor spotless! I didn't check the lady's room as I didn't want to deal with the screaming that would ensue! Wait Time- In less than 45 minutes my name was called, and I was out the door. That is nothing less than spectacular! My tire pressure light had lit up recently and I noticed that they took care of it without asking. Nice! Nervous about tomorrow. Probably won't show. Was recommended by a friend and after what happened he is looking to move his business as his daughter was not acknowledged just like me. Walked in with one gentleman at the counter and 3 people behind the counter. Stood there for a couple minutes and the lady asked if I had an appointment, I said no I was hoping to make one and she turned away and went to her computer. I was taken back. Customer sneezed and everyone said bless you and I said "sorry, I don't have the credentials." (Got a laugh from everyone) Stood there another 5 minutes after the only other customer went to sit down. Then I went and sat down. More people came in and I started openly asking who their best competitor is as I've been here for 15 minutes and haven't been helped. Scared me that no one had any recommendations. Then lo and behold I was pointed at and called on. Felt like the price is right and ran to the counter. Asked them who their competitors were as I'm not sure I have confidence that this is the right place for me. They all looked and the lady looked at me and said I didn't know you needed to make an appointment and I said yeah. When you asked I said "no I don't have one but would like to make one" and you walked away. Great costumer service. She was apologetic. But the first impression and confirmation from what my buddy experienced was done. I chose a tire and set up an appointment for an alignment and rotate of tires. But I'm scared if their workmanship is twice as good as their front office staff I would be lucky to have 30% of the lug nuts even on the vehicle when I pick it up. What would you do? I really want to use a local small business. But wow, just wow. I expect this kind of treatment from Firestone or discount tire. Not a locally owned business. And people wonder why local businesses fail. read more

Trashed my vehicle with an attitude looking for the lug nut lock key, that they should of Professionally had on hand as most tire mechanics/companies do have multiple lug key kits. They could have just asked but instead, left a six-inch grease smear across the driver's side car door and handle, dropped stuff I had in the glove box on the passenger floorboard, knocked my driver's gloves, that I kept up by the radio, between the driver's seat and console, got grease on the passenger leather seat, ripped key bag by not tying it back but merely shoving it in, and trashed my trunk emptying detail bag and not putting compressor zip bag back where they found it but instead throwing it to the side. I will not return or recommend this local place as they treated me less than a valued customer. I had high hopes for this place that bitch slapped this frail grandpa back into reality. read more

Pulled in to the shop without an appointment and the lovely lady behind the counter listened to my flat tire problem which was in the cargo area of my SUV. She sent an associate out to get the tire immediately. I went to Walmart and while I was gone they worked on my tire. When I returned the tire wasn't quite finished. Waited a few minutes and bingo it was done and back in my SUV. Terrific service to a first time customer. I highly recommend this organization for any of your tire needs. I have a 2002 Honda CRV, I bought it new. the starter was bad. the replacement bill was $1006.00. Matt Laye said that he is not the cheapest in town. He is right there. He has a good shop and his employees are welcoming, but he buys his parts retail and marks them up again to customers. the starter that costs @ $200.00 on line cost me $450.00. Oh and of course he will not let you get the parts your self. I will look elsewhere for my next repair job. read more

These guys are great! Honest, thorough and fair. I was in Avon Park last week and after 1000 mile drive discovered my brakes were shot. We have been to layes several times for both our vehicles. We used them because they came reccomended from a friend. Shame on us. We should have done our research. First off they replaced several parts that turns out did not need replaced AND they bought brand new instead of refurbished. Never thought to ask us our budget just assumed we'd have the cash for whatever. Cool all fixed no big deal right? Wrong. They kept the stabilizer for our air intake meaning that the car would just randomly cut off. Once in the middle of 27 with vehicles coming. But hey, you get to charges us more so whatever. Also. They are 120 an hour. DOCTORS DONT EVEN MAKE THAT. and every time we take a vehicle to them even more goes wrong. They stripped and lost bolts on our truck, they kept our battery stating that "we should've told them we wanted it" how about you communicate with your customers? Weve spent THOUSANDS of dollars of labor alone for things that take minutes to do. You tell them what's wrong yet they still hit you with the diagnostic fee. This place will rob you blind. And if you ask questions they will gaslight you into thinking you're not supposed to question them. They will not work with you, will not communicate with you and we have never gotten a quote on costs beforehand. We turned down a tire rotation that would cost 600 dollars. Lo.and behold next time we go to open our hood the latch is broken. Hm. Weird. It was fine before it went into the shop. Guess how much to fix a dead battery and hood latch? You guessed it. $600. I call Layes tires early in the morning to ask how long an oil change would be. They tell me 20-30 minutes. I drive over there before work trying to squeeze it in because it needed to be done today because I won't have time to do it any other time. I walk in and tell them I need it done but if it's going to take longer than 30 minutes I would not like to get it done because I would be late for work! The lady told me no no she will make sure it gets done in 15 minutes. They take my car and I'm waiting and waiting. 30 minutes go by and I check on my car they told me they haven't even started on my car after I've been waiting for 30 minutes and say that I can bring it in tomorrow if I'd like. So inconsiderate to other people this morning. The first thing I told them was that I was limited on time if it's a problem I can always come in another time but they tell me 15 minutes and it will be done quick. They didn't even warn me after 30 minutes that they haven't even started to see if I wanted to reschedule I had to come up to them to ask and I'm getting more and more late for work. I show them I'm upset and they don't even offer a discount or anything so I don't leave upset. I'm upset and told them they wasted my morning and made me late for nothing and They just say "they didn't mean to make me late" very poor service this morning and I'm a FREQUENT customer that they are familiar with.
