This was our second sail with Layla sailing. As usual, it was a very smooth sail and Captain Liz navigated through the Peconic Bay and waters surrounding Shelter Island exceptionally. Although the water was mostly calm, she did have to warn us about an upcoming wave, which we were very grateful that she did. Captain Liz asked if we wanted her to set anchor in calm waters so we could swim, but we were having such a fun time on the boat we decided to stay on the boat the whole time. The service of food and beverages we brought on board was phenomenal and we had an absolutely wonderful day, just as we did two years ago! I highly recommend this trip!! My wife and I had a wonderful sunset sail on the Layla. Captain Liz and and first mate Rachel took great care of us. There was plenty of space on the Layla for us to socially distance appropriately, with my wife and myself staying primarily in the super comfortable bean bag chairs on the bow and Liz and Rachel staying primarily in the cockpit area, while still being very attentive to us. We brought wine and cheese with us to enjoy, which Rachel served to us on a beautiful platter. It was exactly the relaxing experience that we needed. This is a MUST-DO on your trip out to Greenport Seriously, look no further. I've done this twice and have recommended other friends / family and everyone raves about it. Liz + Rachel made you feel as if you were a guest in their house. The boat was METICULOUSLY clean and the views were beautiful. We had a planned vacation to visit our daughter and her partner Jeff. About a month out we get a cryptic text message about marriage, eloping etc. After a bit of discussion, we were in full blown wedding preparation from 3000 miles away. Between Jean and Kegan, the idea of a wedding on a sailboat made it to the top of the list. We reached out to Liz to see what we could do. Since this was very early in the season, really early, we were worried, but Liz came through with flying colors and we had a plan. We started working out the details for a half day wedding sail and it could not have been simpler thanks to Liz and her commitment to make everything perfect. She had great suggestions about food and drink. In the end we went with a couple champaigns plus some wine and an amazing cheese platter from Kate's Cheese, a local company. On the day of the wedding, we arrived just a bit early to work on wedding pictures. We waved at Liz and Rachael who were making final preparations for the sail. When they were ready, Rachael came to greet us and transported all our gear to the boat where captain Liz welcomed us aboard. This is when all the magic happened. For the next few hours, we were treated to a great wedding and sail on a beautiful, immaculately maintained sailboat. Captain Liz performed the ceremony flawlessly and Kegan and Jeff were married. Then we drank, feasted, and sailed on a beautiful sunny day. Liz and Rachael are ultimate "people" people and exceptionally skilled in their sailing craft. Best day on our mini-moon yet!! Liz and Rachel were so sweet yet professional as we rented the boat for ourselves for 4 hours. The boat is gorgeous and they have really comfy bean bag chairs that make it so easy to sit in the front of the boat and be comfortable for hours. They served us our meat and cheese plate and sandwiches from the local cheese shop we brought on board (Kate's). And poured the rose whenever needed - we felt like royalty! Captain Liz and her team are wonderful hosts and provide all of the ingredients for a great evening on the water - super comfortable beanbag lounge chairs, cooler to keep beverages cold, YETI cups, Bluetooth, etc. They were extremely helpful in pointing out local sites and providing history when we had questions, but also provided plenty of space for quiet relaxation and catching up. Everything about our afternoon sail with Liz & Rachel at Layla was beyond expectations. To start, it was originally supposed to rain but ended up being 80 degrees and sunny! But that's not the only surprise. Liz and Rachel are thoughtful in ways that your typical boat charter is not. There were flowers in the bathroom. They placed all our snacks out on a gorgeous tray. They served our wine for us. They made feel like we didn't need to lift a finger so we could just enjoy the sail. So many other boat charters are great--but leave your food and snacks up to you.
