The crowd is pretty mixed: college students, 20-30-something townies, and throw in a couple old guys. The staff here is so friendly! I love the bartenders. They're always happy to replenish my water and never make me feel guilty for not ordering a drink (yeah, I know, I'm lame). When my friend moved away from Appleton, we threw her a goodbye party here because this was always her favorite bar. The group of us took up all of the tables and the staff was very attentive to all of us. The bartenders even played jukebox music just for us. The locals were as friendly as usual and chatted with some of us. What I love about Jim's Place is that it's laid-back (though not as much as, say, The Nickel) and you can still easily have a conversation with someone instead of yelling over the music. Also, the way the bar is set up makes it pretty easy to chat with people you don't know, which I like. Fun fact: I hung out with my professor here once!

I finally made it inside this past weekend - and I'm so happy I did!! We came on an early Saturday afternoon and there were about 7 other people inside the bar. They have about 15 seats at the bar, and about 6 high top tables in the main bar area. They also have some outdoor seating (with its own bar) and a new add on to the front for indoor table seating! It's a much bigger space than I would've thought and you can tell has had some great work put into it recently (check out the bar backsplash when you visit). We ordered a few different drinks and all were made to our liking. The Bloody Mary was great - we asked for spicy and it was the perfect amount of heat. It comes with a chaser of your choice, only thing that could've been better was if I got a pickle too! They have a full food menu and an exposed grill where you can watch your food being made. We went in between meals, so only ordered appetizers. The onion rings, cheese curds, and jalepeno poppers were great! A good deal too at $13 for all three. A true Oshkosh classic that still hits the spot!…read more Leroy's on 7th & Knapp has been a go-to spot for my family for generations. I grew up coming here, and my grandfather was a regular. Back when I was a kid, all the men in my family even played on the softball team here, so this place has a lot of history and memories for us. I finally stopped in again recently and the food absolutely delivered. The pizza, cheese curds, onion rings, and pretzels were exactly what I was looking for when it comes to good, satisfying bar food. Everything hit the spot, and the portions were solid. What makes it even better is that I live right around the corner, so I definitely see this becoming a regular spot for me.
