    Generous servings on charcuterie platter!
    Carla N.

Learned that Xe is for Xenon from the periodic table, atomic number 54. (That should be added to your About Us page on your website). Great vibe! Nice variety of wines. Generous servings on the charcuterie platter. Wished the bartender was a bit more chatty given that the place wasn't busy (5pm on a Monday) and I sat at the bar by myself. Bartender was working on her laptop at the end of the bar, but responsive when I needed something. Should keep your website up-to-date; home page lists Christmas hours and advertises available tickets for New Year's Eve masquerade ball. I plan to bring my husband here when he's back from his business trip. I could see making this a regular spot for me!

What a lovely place for some great wine & live music. Very grateful to have had the opportunity to enjoy our Valentine's Day here. Would recommend the Crusher Petite Syrah!

Nice little surprise on the way back to Neenah from Door County. Great selection of wines, craft beers and cocktails. They also have a create your own charcplatter with various meats, cheeses, baguettes, etc. Pam, the owner , was super friendly and the bartenders knowledgeable and fun. We will definitely be back next time we're up in Neenah.

My fiancé and I had high hopes for "Mondo! on the River" based on the glowing reviews, but after…read moretwo visits--one of which ended with us walking out--we sadly won't be returning. From both experiences, it felt like the restaurant is run by a team with limited customer service experience. It wasn't a staffing issue; there were at least six employees on the floor each time. The problem was attentiveness and follow-through. On our first visit with family, we ordered drinks and food. The "Vegetable Situation," "Mushroom Linguine," and "Meat Parade" pizza were all genuinely good. The cheese flight, however, was underwhelming--especially for a wine bar--and lacked thoughtful presentation. Service was slow and disjointed, but we chalked it up to a possible off night and decided to give it another chance. Unfortunately, our second visit confirmed our concerns. We sat at the bar hoping for quicker service. After ordering our first drink, we were left unattended for an extended period. The bartender disappeared, and we eventually saw them chatting casually with a guest in the wine shop. That was our cue to leave. We really wanted to love this place. The food has potential, but the lack of hospitality and consistency makes it hard to recommend.

I don't know how often the menu changes, but it seemed clear that it did change. There is also a menu of wine, beer, and spirits available. I enjoyed excellent service from Claire and a truly exceptional meal consisting of the Scramble (duck egg, ramps, fingerling potatoes, and topped with crispy potato chips), Country Pate (toast points, stone ground mustard, pickled collard green stems and carrots, and fennel), and Smoked Ribs (corn bread with thyme butter and collard greens)! I loved the vibe of the place, which made it seem like a casual bar with decent bar food. I did not expect the high level of quality dishes I saw on the menu, which followed through to the plate compositions, and then onto my palate! There wasn't a single disappointing bite in any of the three dishes I ordered, which were all from the small plate/appetizer section of the menu under "Colds" and "Hots." The Country Pate board was a perfect start, and the Ribs are smoked in their outdoor smoker, providing a slight smoky flavor and very tender meat. Ribs are served over delicious collard greens and with a side of cornbread and thyme butter. I tasted an herb in the cornbread and forgot to ask, but it may have also been thyme, or just my imagination. The cornbread wasn't moist, but also wasn't dry, and it had the crumbly texture one looks for in cornbread. I did not expect to taste collard greens this good in Neenah. The Scramble was absolutely perfect! You can tell from the photo how perfectly the duck eggs were cooked. There were fluffy and flavorful, and they were served over sliced fingerling potatoes, and then topped with crispy housemade potato chips. I wanted to order more, but I was satisfied, and it was getting late. I still had a 90 minute drive back home and work the next morning. If you're anywhere Neenah, I highly recommend you eat here!

Our server was very friendly and with such a small space, it was easy to get her attention. The location is very low-key, but fun! And like Ellinor, many may double check their Google maps as they get nearer to the restaurant, wondering if they're in the wrong place. Unlike Ellinor, Marvol lives in a small, obscure corner of Appleton - it's not in an established neighborhood full of progressive diners with progressive views and progressive palates. And I love them for it. Sure, it may have just been a business decision to minimize overhead, but it says something bigger. It's an Appleton restaurant - everyone is welcome. True to the owners' approach to dining, Marvol's seating is more than cosy. It's intimate. You have to be okay with getting close to a stranger for the journey. Marvol's food doesn't disappoint. More important than the storybook plating and the flare, the food screams of excellent sourcing. Marvol's trout belly and roe, Kendall's greens, Wisconsin sweet corn and crab. Every ingredient can stand on its own - but they're so much better together. Whereas Ellinor caters to the many with mainstays and midwestern must-haves (red meat, burger, pizza with pork in it), Marvol feels like a small test kitchen full of new ideas. Some will land, others won't, but it's all part of the experience. It kind of feels like Chef Adam is inviting us into his brainstorm, where he jots down his ideas for the week on a notebook - and that's the menu. Though I had my favorites, I don't think going through them would help you. Because Marvol has probably moved on. All I can say is, you can trust Adam. Note: A huge selling point of Marvol is their drinks. I did not try any, as I don't drink alcohol. There is no official NA cocktail menu.
