At first a little surprised by the exterior, it's a bit dated and rundown and the interior reminded me of a church with the stained glass windows and wooden floor and walls. Outdoor seating has big umbrellas to give plenty of shade and a very serene atmosphere, could only hear nature. There are about 15 farm cats that are very friendly but we were instructed not to feed them. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the wine and history of the winery. Did a $12 Flight which you can select four 2oz pours from a list of white/red/sweet wines: Malbec 2014: I didn't love this Petit Verdot 2013: full-bodied with a smooth finish Sweet Lazy Days Red: fruity and sweet, easy to drink Bill's Wild Blackberry: fruity yet full bodied and sweet, not as sweet or sugary as a dessert wine, bought a bottle for $18, very excited to try it this summer on a hot night They only offer sangria every 1st and 3rd Saturday - I was so bummed they didn't have it since they offer it in a growler for $20 - next time I'm in the area! read more

After being underwhelmed at the wineries along this route, I was pleasantly surprised by Lazy Days. As the name implies, it was a very 'laid back' place, and I enjoyed more than a few of their wines. They have 9 acres of vines, so they are pretty much all estate grown. They grow a surprisingly large assortment of grapes, including Pinotage (a South African grape), Arneis (an Italian white), Toriga Nationale (a Portuguese grape), Albarino (Spanish), and Gros Manseng (a rare grape from France) - in addition to your 'standard' set. Some of these grapes aren't ready for sale, but will be ready in the future. They even had a Malbec! I didn't take great notes, but I did like the Vidal Blanc and Capuchin Red blend. The Petit Manseng had really strong honey favors. But my favorite was the peach wine, which became a spritzer when water was added. I could drink that all day! read more

Place appears to have a great outdoor seating area but there were bees literally everywhere, with multiple nest under the outside roof. Bee would also come into the indoor small bar area. My friend was stung and we left immediately. read more

Don and I came here with Tim and Jess. Not a bad price for their complete wine tasting. It was $5. But if you buy a bottle they take off the cost of the tasting. I bought a bottle of the Blackberry Wine and a bottle of their Sweet White which was real tasty with the peach sprtizer added to it. So Don's tasting was free too. read more

Cozy spot to try a few reds and whites! They are known for their wild blackberry wine which was more of a desert wine to me. I found their red and white blends to be the most appealing and of which I purchased. The sommelier was knowledgable about the wine and local information as well such as breweries and food! I have been to quite a lot of wuneries in my time. The best you would think, would be in CA. Now...for thr value of the wine and tasting...yes, CA wineries are at the top. This is because they are bigger and produce much larger quantities. This is why buying CA wine is also cheaper. Ok...lesson finished. Now to explain why it is SO important to support your local wineries. They don't have the same capability of mass production that the CA wines do but this doesn't make them lesser. If anything...it makes the wines they produce more valuable. Enough lessons. I have recently become a big fan of the VA wine country. There are some true surprises in these bottles. You would be at a loss if you assumed they didn't produce drinkable wine because you would be wrong...very wrong. Lazy Days falls into the rank of very drinkable wines. True...they aren't chewy wines but I don't always want a heavy wine. They produce a VERY drinkable selection as as for pruce, are aming some very reasonable pricing for a bottle. The lovely lady there when I did the tasting was charming as well as knowledgeable...2 qualities you must have. She could tell your tastes right away and catered to them. Very eager to satisfy your tastes in fact as she is that confident in the product! A tasting of 12 is $5 but free if you purchase a bottle. Take a trip to the edge of the VA wine trail for a taste....you won't be disappointed! read more

Brewery vibes for a winery. If you're looking for the Instagram worthy winery post this definitely isn't your spot but there's tons of positives. The wines are affordable with a nice view of the vineyard. The guy working was super friendly made us feel welcome. This winery is only about a year old, and considering that, they're doing a great job. The tasting room itself is small and intimate, but the building has some appealing tables with umbrellas outside and some classic cars to check out. The staff was super friendly! They had about 5 wines for tasting, some red and some white. There wasn't a tasting fee. Our favorites were the Petit Verdot and, surprisingly, the Sweet Lazy Days, a blend of vidal and chardonnay with 2.5% residual sugar. We would have guessed this would be too sweet for us, but the chardonnay balanced out the sugar, making for a nice patio white. I thought all their wines were well made, and in a few years I bet the quality will increase. In all, this made for a nice little stop on our wine adventure, and I would go again if I were hitting some of the wineries in Southern Virginia. read more

The best winery outside of the Lynchburg. Really enjoyed our time here. Beautiful scenery, peaceful vibes, and very good wine. The wine tasting is well worth it and will make your bottle selection very tough. We went with the Hallowine but, you may like a different one depending on your preference. I went to this winery the first time this past weekend. My wife loves Sangria, so we went for their Sangria Saturday. They seem to do this the 1st & 3rd Saturday of each month. The Sangria was the best we have had from a winery! The cool thing was the were having an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids too, so we were able to occupy the kids and have some family quality time. Their tasting list wines were very nice and well balanced too. We bought a case of wines, picking 2 of each six we liked. They told us they host The Virginia Summer Solstice Wine Festival the 3rd weekend of June, which we will definitely be back for. The musician playing was very appealing too. read more

Wasn't impressed the first time but I like sangria so figured I'd give it another try for this special "event". So I had purchased a Groupon also and was a little bit concerned after reading the last review. Actually the wines were quite good although they had quite a few sweet wines. It is a little bit cheesy that they suggest that you get a tasting when you first come in, but you actually get a tasting with your coupon. They do give you a sangria growler but it is empty, which I also find a bit tacky. However the venue is nice, I enjoyed the tour of the vineyard, and the lunch was pretty good. So I enjoyed the visit, but I don't think the Groupon is worth it.. read more

My husband and sister loved the wine tasting. Craig was the guy who handled the wine tasting for them. He was very knowledgeable about the different wines they were trying. Had a great personality. The wines were very good and both my husband and sister left with several bottles and she also got one of the wine glasses to put in her collection. The vineyard was beautiful. This was the best winery experience we have had. The tasting was great with many different options. The server was friendly, personable and had a wealth of knowledge of the area. I really hate to leave a poor review but this experience was beyond poor. I honestly feel sorry for the owner and employees....they should be ashamed of the service and quality. For starters the Groupon deal is a joke. The growler that comes with it is empty and is $15 to fill the mini growler. The wine tasting is $5 but is waived if you purchase a bottle of wine. (So Groupon $30 fill empty growler $15 bottle of wine $20...and i was overcharged by $10) i was never offered a refund for the extra charge only wine in exchange. So one pitifil visit cost me $77. The wine is mediocre compared to surrounding winery's. The lunch included in the Groupon is a styrofoam box that you fill from pans that are set out by the employees. Kids that are the family of the winery owner or employees are running around even in the tasting room. (We purposefully left our kids at home only to watch others run circles) Never again. read more

I've never been to a wine tasting so bad I had to walk out in the middle of it till I came here. I just moved to Lynchburg and was so excited to be in wine country. This is the first winery I've been too in the area and I was super excited because of the cute name. My best friend is visiting me and we talked about hitting some wineries. We sat down as the place was busy. It looks cute. But the wines first of all have a horrible smell. Both of us could hardly dare to take a sip. Then we only had maybe three or four wines and they were so bad we had to leave. All of them were terrible. The ladies working were amazing and sweet and wonderful. They were so kind and didn't have us pay for the part of the tasting we did. Which honestly if they did I would have been pissed and given one star. But yeh bring a blanket your dog and our own bottle of wine. Cus the ones here are a no go. Oh wait you can do that literally anywhere else. We have now been to 2 summer solstice festivals and 1 hallowine festival at Lazy Days and we intend to return for years to come. The wine is excellent, the music is perfect, the venue is beautiful and the employees are a blast. I live in North Carolina and will come up at least once a year for these events, they're that great.
