Tough one to rate, mostly because this isn't your 'typical' tasting experience. Lexington Valley is definitely...away from the crowds...shall we say? You have to hunt for them to find them, but I'm glad I did. 4 stars mostly for the Norton, which was their admitted star. Their tastings are by appointment, but fortunately they said "come on by" when I called on a Monday holiday. Follow the directions on their website, NOT your GPS! Your tires and phone signal will thank you. I forget how many acres of vines, but it's not a lot. Fortunately they've been growing them for a while, and it's an eclectic mix of vines. Only the second time in my life I've seen Marshal Fosh served, as well as one of the few places that have Catawba (a grape native to North America). And not sure I've EVER seen Gruner Veltiner (an Austrian varietal) before. Gruner Veltiner (white): Crisp and some lime notes Vidal Blanc: Off dry...but since I rarely enjoy this varietal don't take my word on how it is Catawba: Another off-dry white, got some lychee. Not something I'd try again but it was worth a shot Cab Franc: I'm not sure how to describe their Franc. Didn't get the a-typical pepperiness or bell pepper flavor. Not bad but definitely different. Norton: I'm rarely a Norton fan, but definitely liked this one. My server explained the smoothness is due to the age of the vines, so this doesn't taste like your 'typical' Norton. It was jammy...but not really.

Very quaint, peaceful, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed a quiet afternoon with some snacks and wine.

What an incredible find off the beaten path! Amazing views, great wine and an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff (Cal's the best!) -you can't go wrong. There are dogs to play with, snacks to be had and did I mention the views? If you don't prefer wine they serve Bold Rock cider as well, really awesome. I've been spending an awful lot of time here since my first visit in 2014- check it out

My favorite is their "Black Tie Norton," a classy blend of Norton and Cab Sauv.

I have never been to this part of Virginia, and wow, I was absolutely stunned. Nestled in the mountains, this vineyard provides a gorgeous backdrop. The wine was good, I'm no wine pro- I just know I don't like sweet wines. Everyone who was part of hosting us was very helpful. The bathrooms were located in the building at the top of the way. They also have sheep on their property. They minded their own business, but they were cute to look at.

Along with wine tastings, Ecco Adesso offers their 350 acre farm as a place to explore the vineyards, hiking trails, meadows, orchards, waterfalls and creeks that are on the grounds. I got a wine flight, which included four 2-ounce pours. There are four flights to choose from, and I chose the Old World/New World flight, which had two Chardonnays and two Cabernet Francs. I'm not a Chardonnay person at all, but I'm 100% a Cab Franc person. It turns out, I really loved the Chardonnay! Who'd-a known. That's the great thing about doing a flight: You can try something new and maybe discover something about yourself along the way. I enjoyed my wine flight on the big porch outside of the winery. The porch overlooks the beautiful grape vineyards, and it's a picturesque sight to behold for sure. The porch has big rocking chairs, so you can sit and sip and rock and stare at the scenery. I found that the people who work here were incredibly friendly and helpful. At one point, I wanted to try a little taste of a different wine that wasn't on my flight, and they didn't even blink and just gave me a pour. So nice!
