staff are great! the restaurant has such a cute, cozy vibe. food comes out pretty fast, and the restaurant is accessible. the food is priced well, and it's very tasty. a favorite spot of mine.

We love this little diner that has a historic, eclectic feel! It was really good, with the exception of the dressing on the salad. It was a little too bland for our house. We loved the hummus on the Mediterranean plate! You can tell it is homemade with love!

I finally made it to Lazy James in Madison, and let me tell you--it was worth every second of the wait. The setup is casual and inviting: you order at the counter, grab a seat, and wait for your name to be . The menu is small with a focus on classic breakfast staples. They also have a variety of scones and pastries that are perfect with a cup of coffee or as a sweet finish to your breakfast. It does get busy, especially on weekends. I visited during peak hours and had to wait, but they move people through pretty fast. If you're looking for a relaxed breakfast spot that delivers on flavor and charm, Lazy James should be on your list.

Staff doesn't seem like they want to be there. Pretty rude to not just me but other customers. Didnt get food, the coffee is decent though. Also looks like a pretty place to sit down and eat.

This was my first meal in Madison and it did not disappoint! There were so many delicious options on the menu and in the pastry case, but I went with the veggie frittata special and split a blackberry scone with my friend. The scone was perfectly moist and had whole blackberries inside, with a delicious sweet glaze on top! This may have been the best scone I ever had and I wish I lived close so I could try more flavors! The meal was delicious as well, and I loved that they had fresh jams to use on the toast. I also had a hot mocha latte which was absolutely delicious, and I'm picky with hot coffee! The service was very quick and the inside is adorable, with a very homey vibe. I would definitely recommend this to anyone in the area for a cute little brunch spot.

I wish I could remember but this scramble was it called but it has mushrooms, bell peppers, onions and chorizo in it.

One of my fav breakfast spots (and really the only) that I went to when I lived in Madison. I still have dreams about the raspberry and lemon scones. Menu isn't your typical breakfast that you find, though they do have a basic eggs, hash-brown, and protein w/ toast option. Chai tea latte was always good, however, very very hot. Sometimes too hot to enjoy with breakfast so I'd recommend asking for them to not make it with scalding hot water. If you want to get the scones, make sure you get there early before all the good ones run out. Service here was meh. Typical order food at the register and find your own place to sit. No personalism with the staff at the register really. Again, make sure you get here early as sometimes later in the morning or afternoon you'll have to wait for seating. This goes for parking. Sometimes the parking lot is a disaster. Very cutely decorated, overall 10/10 recommend

Birthday brunch for (1). My portion was absolutely massive and I was absolutely unable to finish it. Phenomenal atmosphere, even better marmalade.

My fiancé really wanted a waffles so we ended up here on Sunday morning! The food was delicious. My eggs were perfectly cooked and the hashbrowns were nice and crispy. He loved the waffle with all the toppings. The gal taking orders was very personable and answered our questions honestly. The restaurant itself is super quaint and cozy, perfect for a Sunday breakfast. There's lots of street parking around if the lot is full! We will definitely be back.

It's been awhile since I've been to Lazy Jane's, but it's still as good as I remember it to be. We stopped in for a late breakfast and of course I had to get a couple of scones for later. I just love the chill vibe here and they take credit cards now (not sure when they started to take them but last time I went they only accepted cash).

I stopped by on a Saturday morning for breakfast. One pays in the counter, gets a buzzer and finds a seat. I got a seat right away. My buzzer didn't work. Not sure if they forgot to buzz or the buzzer itself is faulty. I waited for about half and hour and checked about the situation. My food was sitting in the counter window all that time. So finally I was asked to take the cold food and eat. Then came the next problem. No forks. They are still washing. I waited for a while and got the forks. By then the problem shifted to no knives. Finally I collected the knives after a while. Granola with berries and banana was good. My other items were corned beef hash and taco omelette. Both were cold to appreciate the taste. I think taco omelette was better. Chai latte was fine. Overall, I found food ok. But this place is very disorganized.

Almost a decade and a half in Madison and finally made it to Lazy Janes. Great breakfast! Lots of options. Comfortable dining atmosphere makes you feel like you are in your grandma's kitchen. Will definitely be back. Counter service with buzzers to pick up your food at the counter.

Lazy Jane's is such a staple on Willy Street! It's very unique and eclectic and a fun casual spot. You order at the counter and they call out your order when it's ready. We've ordered many things but this last visit I chose the waffles. They are fluffy and delicious! I will say at times, the service is slow, but they are always busy so it's just something to keep in mind, especially if you're going on a weekend!

    Delicious blackberry scone!

We loved Lazy Jane's as much on our recent visit. A must when in the area! The scones, scrambles and sourdough rye is worth the trip.

I just wish the had a kids menu section with 2 items that where super simplified and came in kid friendly utensils etc

It was off the highway, so I thought I would give it a go. Walked in and it was what you would expect from a Wisconsin diner -- old carpeting, waitresses who are lifers, and signage from the bygone era. I sat at the bar, with barstools that came about 4 feet off the ground, and asked the cordially waitress what was good. She rattled off about 3/4 of the breakfast menu so I needed a few minutes. A few minutes passed and I went with the Krab Cakes Benedict (why the K?) and the Cottage Platter. The crab cakes were decent (definitely better than the Cottage Platter), but very crisp on the outside, straddling the line of burnt, and somewhat cooked on the inside. Light on the seasoning. As they say on the cooking shows, it was screaming for some acidity...or in this case some Old Bay. Then the Cottage Platter, which I was very much looking forward to, fell flat for me. The hashbrowns had a funky taste to them, which I couldn't quite place. And again, overall, the dish was lacking in flavor. Would I go out of my way to hit this place up again? Most likely not. If I was in the area and wanted to try something else, I probably would.

For food, we started with the Cheese Curds that were seen on Food Network. I liked the flavor of cheese but wish they were a bit crispier. For entree, we shared the Old Fashioned Burger. The kitchen was kind to split the entree for us onto two separate plates. The burger was thicker than I expected as well as more well done. As far as service, staff was hustling. There were pockets of time we waited for water refills and there was quite a long wait between the curds and burger. Our server was extremely kind and bubbly through the lunchtime chaos which is always appreciated.

Regrettably, something went wrong at my dinner at Graze. After the meal, I received an email asking for direct feedback with the management, which I shared. And I received a very well written apology with a sincere effort to make things right. That effort brought what would have been a 2* experience up to a 4* review. The most important tidbit I have to share for someone contemplating a dinner at Graze is to go hard on the vegetable focused starters. Wow! These were the stars of the show. Hands down. Full stop. Those were five star dishes all the way. Asparagus in season with bread crumbs. Stunning! Young tender beets paired with strawberries? Inspired! While the burger was tempting, I had a burger for lunch and I couldn't bring myself to do a two burger day. I went for the Korean Fried Chicken app as my main, paired with those veggies. It was plenty of food, and I had high hopes for the chicken given the chef's background. But some of the meat was stringy and overcooked. The sauce was zesty with good heat. Still, it fell short of the standard. Warm cookies and milk are never bad. Classics are classics for a reason. But given some of the culinary creativity that exists in the kitchen, it's a bit uninspired. That said, one scoop of seasonal pear sorbet was fantastic! Great flavor and texture. While the server did not know what type of pear was used, I'd put my money on Boscs. The place is popular. Make reservations early. Madison turns out not to be such a late night town, so plan accordingly. While I may not have been tempted to return originally, after the care and attention I received from management, I would indeed come back. I'm sure there is a 5* experience to be had at Graze, but sometimes it takes a second visit to get there.
