After reading most of these comments, I can see things haven't changed for this company. I am shocked it is still in business. Unfortunately I was one of the "survivors" who got to ride this bus way back 20 something years ago. I was constantly late to and from school because we had to pick up other students from different schools. We did this thing called "tags" where the bus would meet up with another bus and we would switch buses. I remember writing the company a letter because I was so fed up. Of course nothing really happened except for me moving up front. Didn't change the fact that I was late to and from school. I wouldn't recommend this company for your child if it was the cheapest transportation out there. read more

They drove our son to school for about 6 weeks. The van was old, had noticeable damage from accidents, and the seats didn't support a booster seat, which made his journey extremely uncomfortable. When we asked for better accommodations, we were met by excuses by the dispatcher. The driver we had was frequently on his phone in our driveway when our son was dropped off, which didn't inspire confidence that his safety was top priority. I would agree with Rachel L. I do not use this company but a driver comes through my neighborhood in Boxford, MA every morning. The speed the driver goes is scary. He/she drives very fast through small back roads. This morning I was almost hit. It appears the driver was looking at something else and did not see me until the last minute. I would not use this transportation company. I just almost got run off the road and as I followed the driver going my normal route this driver was going well over the speed limit weaving g between traffic. This took place in lynn. Bust number 46. I as a parent would not feel comfortable having my child being transportation by this driver. A school bus branded with the LBK logo on the side windows was tailgating me and blaring their horn while driving through Rowley on 5/30, they pulled down towards the train station speeding away. I was going the speed limit, in fact I was probably going a couple miles per hour above it. The driver was a female and seem to have no regard for the safety of the passengers, honking and driving within feet of the back of my car. Employing drivers like this as school bus drivers for children is a huge hazard. Whoever this driver was needs to be retrained or let go. This is roughly the worst form of transportation I've ever rode on. One time I was on an LBK bus on my way home from summer school and these two girls were making fun of me and the bus driver didn't give two single fucks about it. And the monitor was just looking at me like I was some sort of brick wall. A lot of the bus drivers that I've experienced on this platform has been not nice or just yelling at me. Larger transport company but they get the job done efficiently. Driver and monitor personalities vary greatly but in the end its been ok. For everyone complaining about these vehicles parking in handicap spots, especially during the summer, these vehicles are MOST LIKELY transporting special needs children to and from school and field trips. read more

My disabled 15 year old daughter has been riding the bus since she turned 3. She has been on CJ's Transportation, North Shore Shuttle, Salem Public School bus and LBK Transportation. It wasn't until I had my LBK driver and nurses/monitors that I finally felt like they cared about my child as well as the other children. My schedule of driving my other 2 children has made it difficult to work around, sometimes my daughter would be dropped off or picked up at a time that would interfere with me having to be at another school. My driver made a point to work with the office and schedulers to make the times work for ME. My driver has been like a part of my family after showing so much love and care to my daughter and the other kids on the bus. Every year I hold my breath hoping that a different company doesn't get the contract instead of LBK because my driver has shown me that I can trust her and the monitors to keep my daughter safe. They ask questions, talk to her teachers, and relay messages when it's important and get to know the kids they see everyday, twice a day. If the parent interacts with the bus driver and monitors, they will become friends, family, and trustworthy. Don't just plop your kid on a bus and walk away. You have to at least open up to have a relationship with your driver like I have. They have your most precious cargo in their hands! Give them the respect they deserve and appreciate when they go the extra mile for you and your child. That's how you build a positive relationship with anyone you are trusting with your child's wellbeing. read more

Considering they serve special needs students who have problems with schedule changes, you would expect they would try and be consistent. Nope. Within this school year, the driver and time has changed at least 7 times. They don't tell you when it changes, they just show up late or early. They even forgot to pick up my child once. He can be home anywhere from 330 to 415; you never know. He has a therapist in the afternoon who has had to leave at least 5 times because she can't wait any longer for him to get home. I feel bad for the drivers who have to bear the brunt of angry parents with anxious kids. When you call the office, they really seem to care less. It's understood that things happen but safety transportation never ever had such issues in the 5 years I worked with them. Parents of special needs children have enough stress without having to add unreliable transportation to the list! Figure it out LBK, please! read more

I honestly don't even want to give this company a star but I guess I have no choice it's the only way to leave a review. I have had to deal with this Transportation Company now for five very long years and it has been the biggest headache of my life! Unfortunately, my daughter is outsourced from our school system to a different city due to a debilitating anxiety disorder and this is the company they have a contract with. On several occasions LBK (actually more than I can count) has picked up my daughter late, have forgotten to pick her up or have shown up way to early all of which increases her anxiety and makes things even more difficult to bear. In all these years I can only say that we had one fantastic driver and of course she left. We have had drivers that have spoken to my daughter inappropriately, aired their dirty laundry to her and the other children, verbally abused the children on the bus and the majority of them drive recklessly. I have made so many complaints and nothing is ever done to correct any of my concerns. There was one incident that was so disturbing that not only I but even her school complained to the company and we got their famous "we will look into it". I knew nothing was going to be done so I had to make a complaint to the Department of Motor Vehicles on this driver because she was so ignorant, irresponsible and reckless that I was in fear for all the children that she would be responsible for. This company should not be granted the right to transport anyone let alone innocent children with or without any kind of disability. My only advice is if you have an option of who transports your child or children do not under any circumstance let them ride with LBK!! I pray that one-day they will be closed down for good so that no-one else will have to endure what we have!!!!! read more

My disabled child rides their bus. They are consistently late to pick him up for school. Today they arrived at my home a FULL 1/2 hour AFTER his school starts!!! Why is this ok? They do not take the legal IEP documents seriously and think it's ok since these are just the disabled kids. Awful company. Would not recommend this as an option for any school district or student looking for a transportation company. They have put me on busses for hours at a time when it should only take 30 minutes. I have even gone as far as hiring a chauffeur to avoid them. The children they drive are mostly juvenile delinquents and the drivers do not do anything to stop a problem with the kids. They have even simply forgot to pick me up at school. Buses are old and break down often. You can tell the management of this company has neglected it and does not care about the students. I am a Special Education teacher. During the course of my many years of teaching I have had the opportunity to engage with numerous bus companies , drivers and monitors who are responsible for the care and safety of the most vulnerable of students. I have never written a review on yelp before but due to the numerous frustrating experiences I've had with this bus company I feel compelled to write one today. My student who rides on an LBK bus has specialized needs that have been repeatedly ignored by this bus company. Frequently she would either arrive at school or be picked up at the end of the day by buses that were inappropriate for her to be able to physically access. Despite numerous attempts to communicate with bus drivers , monitors and the company manager this situation has not improved. My student's mother has been equally frustrated with this company's inability to provide consistent, safe and reliable transportation. I would NOT recommend this company to transport special needs children. read more

This company is absolutely horrendous. I would never recommend it to ANYONE. I've had so many horrible experiences with this company it's unbelievable that they are still in business. They have picked me up late numerous times, has forgotten to pick not only me, but other kids up from school. Some of these bus drivers are just a total disgrace of human beings. One of LBK's driver was extremely unprofessional! They had me reply to their text messages & read out loud to them the response, talked about personal relationships... even where they lived. They had yelled back at another person on the bus like a child many times, then proceeded to call them a b****. Oh! Forgot to mention that this certain individual had almost hit a pedestrian! After many times of calling and putting in complaints, contacting the head of transportation, LBK said that they would do a full investigation and look into it. This driver still works at the company. I am still completely disgusted by this. LBK is an awful transportation company for letting this continue on. Most of the drivers ALSO communicate to my peers and I complaining about the company and how much they dislike it. Not only that but they also have a horrible communication system. And as a person that suffers from multiple mental illnesses, this company makes everything 1000x worse for me. I can't even imagine what it does to children who have a disability or those who are handicapped. I don't trust this company whatsoever and can't wait to be done with them. If you have a child who takes LBK, I recommend that you try to get a different transportation company ASAP. That's all I have to say about this atrocious company. read more
