The next day I got connected with Josie, and from the very beginning her energy made me feel like I had made the right choice. I drove from Hollywood to Cerritos to open an account and start the process, and from there everything moved quickly and smoothly. My wife and I had to get new debit cards. We were told that we could get them the very same day if we went to one of their branches. We visited the Long Beach financial Credit Union office in Cerritos and as we learned, you can get your debit card replaced that very same day! The lobby had activity, but it was well organized, they have you check in at a kiosk and then a representative greet you to help you with your transaction. We like the fact that they were very courteous and attentive to our needs. That may be the reason why we continue to have accounts opened with them. read more

Horrible experience trying to execute a simple wire transfer at LBS. I went into the Los Altos branch in person to initiate a time-sensitive and critical wire transfer to secure an out of state property that I was purchasing. I needed to send earnest money to a title company in Tennessee. Keep in mind that I was physically present at their brick and mortar facility, with all personal identification in hand, and my account has sufficient funds for the transfer. In addition to the regular recipient information, they wanted an escrow number, the name and phone number of the title agent servicing my account, and insisted that they be able to call them, despite the title company being closed due to being in a different time zone. I did not have the escrow number so they initially refused my wire request. I was livid and insisted that a manager get involved. After the teller went to consult with his manager, he relented and agreed to do his job. So then he needed to call the "main branch" to "confirm" the details and verify that the wire could be sent. And I got ANOTHER round of stupid questions from the OTHER agent at the main branch, who AGAIN refused to authorize the wire. Unbelievable! After escalating to another manager at the main branch, I was told that the wire request was approved but would not be sent unless I answered a phone call the next day to AGAIN go through their security gauntlet. Since like most people, I have my phone set to ring for only recognized callers, I had to enter three different LBS phone numbers into my phone to be sure I would get the call. After over an HOUR struggling to perform a simple wire transfer, I was able to leave their facility unsure if the wire was even going to be sent. Not a good feeling to go through the evening thinking I may lose a prime property because of LBS and their "security" requirements. Next morning my phone rings. I answer and another round of stupidity began. The girl on the telephone wanted me to ask a series of questions to "verify" my identity ONE MORE TIME. But she was having "computer problems" so she put me on hold while she dealt with her computer problem. Finally she came back on the call and posed a half-dozen "multiple choice" questions that I "had to answer" or the wire WOULD NOT BE SENT. The questions included information that I NEVER gave them when I opened the LBS account. Things like where I lived twenty years ago, roommate names from the same period, what year I opened an old credit card, what job I had in the 1990's, etc. It was clear that they were using AI or another intrusive computer program to dig this information up and "quiz" me about it. I understand the need for security but this was ridiculous. What more do they need when I was there IN PERSON and it was MY MONEY that I wanted to transfer? It felt like I was being treated not like a valued customer, but like a criminal. I am not happy with the treatment and will move my business elsewhere. read more

I have been doing my banking with LBSFCU -the name I know it as, for a very long time. I continue to tell my friends and customers how much more I like the credit union over a traditional bank. The customer service, correction: the personalized customer service is genuine. I have always felt they put the customers needs in first. Additionally, the follow thru is detailed and customized to whatever is needed to resolve any issue. I don't believe the Big banks can't compete with the individualized service the Credit Union can give. I can't remember all the names of the many employee's who have helped me over the 30+ years. However, I will say their is a few who have been helping me in the Cerritos branch for a long time, specifically Lupe, Jesus, Jennifer - who has been transferred, Fric & Frac as I call them -lol, Marium and the Filipina who sits in front of Marium. Their commitment to doing their job above what is expected is evident. I enjoy the personalized service plus the true feeling of being special / as if I really matter to them, that they give me. Lastly, their sincere desire to help me with my many requests -and believe me, I feel I have more than 10 or more members put together. I don't believe I would / could find this at any Big Bank and for this I won't leave LBS - the updated name. This core group help me smile when I enter all the way until I am finished and leaving. I will continue to recommend this particular location, since this is my go to location, to others because of all the positives I've mentioned. It's nice to come here for a quick deposit or withdrawal but not to despite or sit down and talk. It'll feel like an hour 2 hours 3 hours of your day is going by. It's unfortunate that this bank takes that long for each person. I'm sure their quality of service is efficient but it takes too long. They make you wait and wait it's just better to schedule an appointment if that's even possible but good luck. Let me tell you how wonderful LBS truly is! I bought a new car in 2019 and was financed with them. Never heard of them before. I just refinanced my vehicle with Mark Wilkins, he was great! I was approved in under two hours. Easy breezy and qualified for the lowest rate. I also have a small personal loan with them as well. Going to refi that one as well. Not once have I had a person who was rude or inattentive on any calls I made to them. All their employees are great! So glad I left Wells a couple years ago, and have all my accounts here now. I have never been approved or given better offers than competitor banks... why did chase and Capital One approve me for a car loan and my own bank denied me 2x in the last 10 years... YTD - I have 3 paid off car loans. Anyways my breaking point was the rude... phone teller (sounded old, miserable and like She had no friends) who honestly had no business being a teller with her rude demeanor. My check was going to be on hold for over a week and she was blaming me for it... Lady, you are a teller, don't take your job personal.... Work in the back doing something else please. Anyways, I spoke to a few other family members, all 6 of us are closing our accounts with LBS. Never banking here again. LBS has been going downhill. I defaulted on my loan due to financial hardship and my family members sickness but I am trying to fix everything and get my car back. This company has made it very difficult to do so. The towed the car 45 mins away from my home, then the place has it set up to were I had to make an appointment to get my personal items out. My purse wallet id everything important was in the car and because they couldn't make me an appointment that day or the next day they are charging me $100 to get my personal belongings. Lbs will not call me back and help me figure out what to pay to fix this I may have messed up but now they are making it extremely difficult to fix my situation read more

I use to like this bank a lot, till they hired people who gave me the wrong advice when renting apartment, teller there told me to use cashier checks for my payments when I explained to him I needed safer way to give the money to home renter cause it was off Craigslist, told me I would be safe if at any point using a cashier check, I lost 3k an came back to them. They couldn't do anything an had me leave the bank. I would say fuck them, I wouldn't recommend them for any transfers or services im dropping my account with them, still have police report open. read more

Lbs financial at cerritos branch is a joke.. opened an account on 9/20/2022 was told that my card will come in 5/7 business days and it's 10/4/2022. Still nothing.. called to confirm with no attitude and was told card was ordered on 9/27/2022 and to give it til 10/112022? What is that about? Started to get frustrated and still got no answers why it was delayed. Heard they were good but it was just rumors. They worse then wells fargo.. #trash read more

I know it is not this branches fault but I don't know of another way to share how frustrating it is to try and make payments on your automated services. Every time I call I have to call back a minimum of 4 times in order to make a payment to my car loan. Not to mention you can barely hear the automated person talking. I press 1 and say yes and I still get directed to an operator which does me no good because by the time I'm off of work and able to call you are closed. Please try to do something to fix this. I can't be the only one that has this issue. read more

The teller was able to quickly get my bank check as well as have me talk to Oswaldo, a financial service rep, to help me refinance my car at a vastly lower APR. He was also able to give me advice from helping me to a stop payment on my cards. read more
