Exactly what we were looking for. After an exhausting day of site seeing, we just wanted a couple drinks and an appetizer. We ordered a beer, poutine and their home made raspberry soda. I would love to give Le Chic Shack five stars but I will explain the downgrade later. But first, the POSITIVES: The restaurant is situated in a perfect location right off the boardwalk in front of the Château Fairmont. Which is this beautiful castle that is now owned by Fairmont Hotel. They have tall wooden tables, tall windows and high ceilings. It's really a beautiful restaurant, great beer selection, and their homemade sodas are awesome. The bathroom was spotless. The staff was super friendly and you could see the kitchen station, which was beautifully clean, organized and kept up. The chefs/cooks were very nice too when I asked about the burgers and their ingredients. We ordered the Le Shack and the Le Robuste. The Brioche buns were amazing and the burgers were just the right size. The Robuste is made with Bison meat, which I have to say, was cooked perfectly. Bison meat is very lean and due to that, it is overcooked and dry the majority of the time HOWEVER these guys did that meat justice (perfectly cooked). It also comes with "Gentlemen Sauce" which I am not going to make any lude jokes but it was very good. The french fries (we got the classics) were phenomenal!!! Cooked perfectly, lightly seasoned and I mean lightly. I do not like salty fries so it was really nice that this place took it easy on that. We also got the Homemade Sodas in Blood Orange and Mango. They were awesome, not super sweet at all and you could actually taste the fruit. The NEGATIVE: Unfortunately, there are two reasons I had to knock off a star.... First, I asked for ketchup and napkins (it was a to go order so we could sit on boardwalk and enjoy the view/weather/etc.) They gave us ONLY two ketchup packets AND LIED to my face when I asked twice for napkins and this was by the manager. For one thing, I should not have to ask for either; it's just common sense. Then, considering the prices it should have been a no brainer to even overburden my order with napkins, mustard, ketchup, etc. Second reason for "star" knock off, is can they stop slathering so much Mayo and/or Aioli on everything?! Seriously, I love both but I do not want my food literally "drowning" in it. My husband took a bite out of his burger and the Aioli (he got Le Shack) oozed between his fingers, it was disgusting...and he says, " Where's the beef?" He got a mouth full of nothing but Aioli. I swear I felt like we were in the Whole Nine Yards (filmed in Montreal and Quebec City) with Chandler.... uhhhh I mean Mathew Perry telling the waitress no "Mayo" on his burger and the cook slathers it on anyway. My suggestion is that you should go, it is very good, but be very clear about "EASY" on the sauces and if you get a to go order, TRIPLE check your bag for the standard accompaniments...like NAPKINS! read more

It was hard being vegetarian to find vegetarian poutine but this place has a great option to the regular poutine. They use a mushroom ragu and large chunks of potatoes which gives it a more hearty, earthy taste. The large chunks of cheese curds gives it the essential poutine flavour. Their salads are excellent and their mushroom soup was great as well. Service was friendly and the place is relatively affordable. Definitely recommend for others to try. read more

We went at 11am today and was hoping to get an early lunch when they open after many friend recommendations. They were not opened, and they were still cleaning the counters, glass doors, and even though they saw people like us waiting in front for more than 15 minutes, made no effort to inform us of their expected opening time. We had to leave town today, and their grill wasn't even fired up. For overpriced burgers and fries, it was not worth it to be kept waiting this way for fast food, so we left. Don't think we will try this place again even given the chance. There are many places around town with better service and food. read more

We were here a month ago for lunch. Decent dark stout, (Guinness?) We had 2 different burgers, both pretty tasty ! The medium bowl of fries is BIG. Sit by the open window or patio and enjoy the tourists strolling by. Very good service, very attentive to your needs. read more

Very popular burger place in Quebec City. We were lucky to get a table before it started raining hard. We ordered a burger and a chicken sandwich. Both were very good and worth the hype. After spending a day in old Quebec and feeling the pain from price gouging, Le Chic Shack was an absolute oasis. The veggie burger was one of the best I have ever had - beets on top a nice touch - and the maple salted caramel milkshake divine. My husband was happy with his burger and beer, too. First meal in Quebec and oh how delicious! It was lunch time and the place was buzzing, but we were lucky enough to be seated by the window. Interesting process of ordering food: be seated, look through menu, walk up to the cash register, place order, return to seat and wait for piles of deliciousness to arrive. Oh, indulgence! We had Le Chic and Le Shack burger. The beef was juicy and the entire burger was amazing (drooling as I'm writing this review). We also ordered the classic poutine. The fries had just the right crispiness but I don't think poutine will be my favorite dish. The salted maple caramel milkshake was pretty good but I could barely taste the salted caramel. I have been here twice but am giving it a one rating for this experience. My husband and I went here for the first time this past Friday evening. I ordered their chicken burger with fries. I advised the server I had a dairy allergy (came with cheese) and I saw our server write this in the computer for our order. I did not feel well afterwards but didn't really think anything of it as I advised our server of my dairy allergy, I figured it was something I ate earlier in the day. My husband and I then went again for lunch on Monday before heading out of Quebec City. I advised the server that I had a dairy allergy and he informed me that I would have to have the gluten free bun as there is no dairy in that bun. Our server Friday evening did not tell me there was dairy in the bun and the kitchen staff did not give me a gluten free bun. I had the exact same bun as my husband did with his burger. When I received the burger on Monday I could see the difference between my bun and my husband's. The food was great but when I advise a server of an allergy I expect this to be taken seriously. I am lucky my allergy is not severe and something more didn't happen. I trusted the staff at Le Chic Shack took my allergy seriously. I won't be returning on my next trip to Quebec City. read more

We ended up here one night after a nice bike ride. Great place to go with children. Burgers are great, salads, soups and the local potato dish with wild mushrooms. After driving for about 7 hours and finally arriving in Québec, my boyfriend and I were looking for somewhere simple and basic to eat while we waited for our hotel room to be ready. We decided on Le Chic Shack. I am not a big fan of burgers, they're kind of "eh" to me and definitely not top of my list. But I also wanted poutine, so this was a place close by to where we were staying, and very convenient. We went sometime between 3:00 and 3:30, and the place was pretty busy. It was also Labour Day weekend, so there were a lot of people in the city. We were seated immediately. I ordered the Le Chic burger, and for a drink I ordered the mangue et rhum épicé from their Sodas Maison Alcoolisé menu. The mango soda with rum was served in a cute mason jar and had a very strong fresh mango flavor. It tasted boozy, but was not overwhelming in any way. We also ordered the classic poutine. The burger I had was so good and so juicy. I am a slow eater, but I had wolfed that down within minutes of it arriving in front of me. The poutine was perfect too. The cheese curds were chilled and had a perfect rubbery texture (as one should expect from a good poutine), and the gravy was hot and flavorful. The fries were nicely crisped and did not taste greasy or soggy. I found the service to be just right. They weren't helicopter servers, which annoy me, but they weren't inattentive to us either. We were in and out rather quickly and never had to wait too long for anything. I am a very big fan of Le Chic Shack and will definitely go back the next time I visit Québec City. read more

TOPS!! It's hard to imagine a finer hamburger joint than this awesome little spot at the foot of the Chateau Frontenac. My wife and I just spent three full days in Quebec City. My only regret about our restaurant trolling is that we only ate lunch here two of the days. We left on the fourth morning and we almost stayed a little longer just to have lunch here again.
