On a friday during lent, looking for a place with seafood near our hotel. What a great place!…read moreWalked in to live music and got seated right away. The place is warehouse size HUGE, so i doubt they ever completely pack out. The low country seafood boils are amazing, and very generously portioned. My daughter opted for king crab legs and they were perfect. The seasoning and sauce was lick your plate clean kinda yummy! Me & spouse had the fried catfish, which was amazing. Perfectly fried and seasoned. Clam chowder was new england style. Delicious, but not hot. Just warm. We were so hungry we didnt send back. Got a local IPA on tap. It was warm & stale. Our server was so kind & honest about it. She shared that several people returned their tap beers that day because they were warm, and admitted she didn't know enough about beer to help me so the bartender would come over. Wow! That's outstanding customer service! Apparently the IPAs in bottles were EXPIRED as per the very nice bartender. So I got a Sam Adams instead. Whatever, you're here for the seafood and it is excellent. Just disappointed with a huge bar, you would expect the beer to be ok. Our server, i wish i could remember her name because she was so nice and smiley. Definitely would return here if in area again. This was a pit stop on a roadtrip vacation.

YELP! you steered us wrong! We were in the area for an errand and decided to give Konran a try. We…read morereally wanted to like this place as its a local restaurant with cute decor and friendly staff, however the food was severely amateur. We ordered goyoza, yum yum noodles, 2 bowls of spicy shoyu with pork belly and garlic cheese fries. Ohhhhh where to begin... The goyoza were from a freezer bag and weren't even good quality. They decided to fry them which made the dough hard (not crispy) and there were about 8 tiny goyoza for $8! The garlic cheese fries were frozen, seasoned, grade school curly fries with cheese whiz on them. The spicy shoyu had soba noodles not Ramen and the noodles were mushy after a couple minutes at the table. This was touted by the waiter as having "more vegetables" than the other soups but that consisted of scallion, frozen corn nibblets, frozen edamame, and kimchee. The pork belly looks like it was purchased cooked and they seared one side. The fat in the pork belly wasn't rendered correctly and the soup was not balanced. In authentic shoyu you get half a soft egg with runny yolk...the egg in this was hard boiled and sliced with an egg slicer. If you're looking for something authentic and tasty- probably skip this restaurant. Our bill was $58 and we left thinking we ate at the mall food court. Please...cooks at Konran...visit Asia or at LEAST some AUTHENTIC Asian restaurants and tweak your menu!
