As I walk in, the nice lady behind the counter welcomed me very friendly and after knowing that it was my first time in a Haitian restaurant, she recommended the Griot plate. I ordered it for take out, there's no dining in, so everything is take out. After I sat down, I started eating this delicious plate...what a delicacy...everything was done perfectly. The Griot was fried but not too crispy, it was tender and juicy on the inside, perfect to be douzed with the sauce that come on the side. There was plizki as well....the rice was moist, well seasoned and plentiful. The fried plantain was still crispy to the bite... Everything top notch, one of my best meals during my trip to Montreal....

The gravy sauce was also small (smallest I ever had and I had my fair share of this plate). Picklies was perfectly fine. Pricing is about average. There was way more rice than griot as per the norm I've experienced elsewhere. Gravy sauce was too small. Plantain was a miss for me. Overall the value is a little low for me and the competition really does it better. I'd come back in a bind and give them a second chance but I'd rather drive a little further to get the good stuff.

I've been back a dozen times since then. I usually order the lambi, which comes with a mountain of riz collé, fried plantains, pasta salad and pikliz (like all the other food). It's so flavorful and extremely worth it. It's best to go before the dinner rush when there's a fresh batch of food (depends on what you order).

Renovations are not fully done yet inside, but honestly, that's not what we were looking for. We tried 3 kinds of meat: taso (fried goat), fried pork (griot), and fried chicken. My favorite was the taso. It had a nice taste of lamb and was tender and seasoned. I found the griot to be very fried (maybe that's how it's meant to be). The accompanying rice and pasta salad were good. Portion size is not huge on the meat but as a meal it's adequate and very decent for the price. The place looked family run and the staff was very friendly in explaining what was what to us tourists. At $8-10 after tax per Styrofoam meal including a can of pop, I'd come back to try some of their other items if I passed by again.
