Caprese salad was bright and beautiful

This is a great hotel with easy walking distance to many restaurants, shopping, and tourist destinations on the western side of Rome. The valet parking was 35 euros a night, and they were so friendly and speedy at parking our car when we arrived and retrieved it for us when we were ready to leave. The hotel lobby is beautifully decorated and spacious with a comfortable lounge and restaurant. Check-in and check out were easy, and the front desk service was polite and top-notch. Our room was large and spacious per European standards. The bed was comfortable, linens soft and clean, and there were many luxury amenities like robes/slippers and nice smelling toiletries. The bathroom was adequate per our experience with Italian hotel rooms. The restaurant here was great with lots of choices and several gluten-free options. The bartender was our server and was incredibly accommodating. The gf roll they provided with my meal was one of the best ones I had on this trip. The caprese salad presentation was the most beautiful I've ever seen. The catch of the day was grilled tuna with a delicious vegetable medley. I also could have had gf pasta had I wanted. The husband of mine enjoyed a delicious looking pizza. Great experience here. I would definitely return and recommend it.

We checked in and were upgraded from a deluxe to a superior room. We opted for a complementary breakfast each morning rather than bonus points. There is some construction here and unfortunately the rooftop is closed, I believe we missed nice views Vatican and castle from here The location wasn't so good & wasn't terrible. We walked about a mile to the Vatican. It was about a :30 walk to the Trevi, colosseum & Termini as well. Disappointed that there aren't laundry facilities, we checked in advance and were assured that there were machines that we could use. Laundry pick up service by item would be well over $100 for 5 days at the hotel, They recommended Cinderella laundry a half a mile away. Our room was very tight. From our bed we can reach everything in the room. The air conditioning cooled us off, the bed was very comfortable, and our room was quiet. The bathroom @ 6 x5 ft, it is even tighter and there were no hooks on the wall to hang our toiletry bag, wet hand washed laundry or towels. There was a magnifying mirror & blow dryer. There is no plug in the sink to hand wash some undergarments. The tight shower makes washing without wetting my hair impossible. They ran out of washcloths so we used shower gel without. The breakfast buffet had a nice cappuccino bar with juices and waters. Fruit, salad, cheese, yogurt, pastries, eggs, make your own waffles, meats, cereals, poached salmon ... Two staff members cleared tables & refreshed & cleaned the buffet. The hotel acknowledged my birthday with a chilled bottle of Prosecco. We had a fridge with a few bottles of water, 2 juices and a cola. The staff at the front desk were always helpful and knowledgeable. The concierge got us taxis. We appreciated housekeeping coming daily, freshened our towels & replacing toiletries. Our check out was very difficult. There was a long line at 9:15 as the on line check out wasn't working. One elevator has been out for 6 days, we had luggage so it took time to get to the lobby. The concierge couldn't call us a taxi we ran with all of our luggage to a taxi stand in the square & it took an hour later & I'm a hot mess & we wanted the 10 o'clock train.

Location: The location is approximately 10 walk to the train station. It is a 20 minute walk to the Vatician museum. It is not close to the Coliseum, Spanish steps, Trevi foundation. They are on the other side of the bridge. Room: The room was clean nicely everyday. It was replaced with new shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion. Staff: The staff were very nice and accomdating. When I had trouble opening the room door on my first night, they helped me switch my room. In my next room, the usb charging outlet was not working. They offered to fix it the next day. I guess they forgot, so they fixed it the next day. Air conditioner: Due the fact they had central air conditioner and winter does not officially end in Rome until March 21, there was no air conditioner in the room during my stay. I thought this was a pain because it was pretty hot at night and it got very stuffy. I had to request the heat to be turned off and had to open the windows. I heard complaints from other people on my floor that it was too hot. Lounge: The lounge is spacious. There is outdoor space for smoking and indoor space. Rooftop: The rooftop is closed at night. I checked it out one more but it was empty. The rooftop has a great view of the city. Gym: The gym is located in -1 behind the elevator bank. Perk: You can a free expresso or cappuccino during your stay. One per room.

I will start with the positive. Great location for sure..easy to walk to most landmarks plus surrounded by restaurants and shops. Most of the customer service was good although don't expect anything speedy late at night. Tried calling guest services, operator and room service with no answer. Had to go downstairs to lobby to get more pillows and ice. I would like to also mention that the room beside us was also taped up in evidence tape from a crime scene. I know stuff like that happens but it's a little discerning. Also ... no TV channels with anything remotely entertaining. My wife severely sprained her ankle and was held up in the room for a good 20 hours. Reminder for next time.. always bring your ipad!

Not sure where to begin. This will be a long one. We are Starwood Gold members and have always had an exclusive area to check in. Typically it's quick for Starwood resorts. There was a designated check-in at the Meridien however anyone could stand in that line and it took forever. The front desk were very professional and kind. Got our room keys and headed to the 2nd floor. We got off the elevator and there was a bad smell. Almost as if someone left a dirty wet towel in the hamper. We ignored it and went into our rooms. They were nice looking and the beds were really comfortable. Almost too comfortable, lol. Never wanted to leave. Bathrooms are a good size but the shower is really small. One of our rooms had a bathtub but our connecting room did not, which was fine. We noticed there was no iron or board in the room. We didn't know if there was suppose to be one or not. We headed to dinner and on our way back we asked the front desk. She said you need to call for one since the rooms don't come with them. I asked if we should do it now or in the morning. She said the morning would be better. So the next day we call around 7am for an iron. She says they will send one up. 7:45 the iron still isn't brought up, so I call. They tell us 5 mins. 15 mins later we get a call saying they ran out of irons. I tell them our clothes are completely wrinkled and we need to leave by 8:30 because we have a tour scheduled for 9. They tell us they will send someone up to iron our stuff at no charge. Perfect! However it took them another 15 mins to come up and another 20 mins to bring our clothes back. At this point we are gonna be late for our tour. We just want our clothes and will address it later. We return in the afternoon and thought let me call and ask again if they have any irons since we will need our clothes ironed again for dinner. They have one and bring it up. We go to use it and the board is broken and won't stand up. Ohh well we will just iron on the floor. I'm not waiting for another one. Meanwhile when we got back from our tour I noticed our toilet paper had been replaced. Nothing else in the room was touched. Housekeeping wasn't suppose to come because we had the green choice card and the do not disturb sign up. Didn't think anything of it and thought maybe it was a mistake on their part. We leave for dinner and the floor we are on still smells bad. The smell is now coming in to one of our rooms. Again we ignore it. Later that evening we come back and our keys don't work. Housekeeping is on the floor and asks if we need help. We tell her our keys don't work but we will go downstairs to the front desk. She quickly proceeds to use her key and open our door for us. We were surprised because we thought how does she know this is our room? Scary! The next morning we are leaving the room and walk out in to the hallway and we hear a swishing sound under our feet. We look down and notice the carpet is wet in the hallway. I look down the hall and notice housekeeping is scrubbing the tile inside the rooms and pushing the excess water out the door leaving the carpet in front of the doors and hallway wet. Ahh ha!!!! That's why the 2nd floor smells bad! The carpet is wet!!! Later that evening we return to our room and notice our rooms were restocked with water bottles and we have fresh towels. Housekeeping has been in our room, AGAIN!!!! Even though our Do Not Disturb sign and green choice cards are on the outsides of both our rooms. Totally not acceptable! We were not prepared for that! The hotel is in a nice location, front desk were professional, but housekeeping at this hotel needs some major help!!!!!!

We stayed here at the end of our honeymoon trip after we got off our cruise. If I'm not mistaken SPG did a full renovation of the hotel in 2016 after acquiring the property. And the interior and rooms are indeed very nice and modern. We ended up being upgraded to the suite because the original room we had was too warm. The suite is on the top floor, very spacious with a separate living area and large bathroom, and access to a private veranda. The staff were friendly and helpful and the extra perks (free museum admission and complimentary espresso drinks at the café) are a plus. The location is also super convenient so all in all, highly recommended and we preferred this hotel over the St. Regis quite honestly. Would be happy to stay here again!

By Rome standards for a full-service hotel, it would be considered affordable by many. But just to be clear, it is not ultra-inexpensive. For the money, it is firmly in the 4-star hotel genre (getting a 5-star Yelp rating from me within this category because I could find nothing wrong with it during my stay). So, while it may not have crystal chandeliers and butlers running around, it is definitely not a student tourist level hostel. It has modern, comfortable public spaces, elevators that hold more than 2 people at a time, a restaurant with a good breakfast spread, and well-appointed guest rooms with modern amenities and AC. I really don't need more than that when I am traveling solo for business so it was perfect for me given that set of circumstances. As a comparison, I have stayed at a 5-star Rome hotel which was absolutely a step up in terms of service, luxury features, and a sense of a personal attention. But when I am alone on business, that level of service is not necessary and can feel uncomfortable to me. There are plenty of cafe's and restaurants within a 10 min walk and it is a reasonable walk to attractions such as the Opera House, the Coliseum, and the Trevi Fountain. It is also a 10-minute walk to the main terminal Rome train station and the cool, local Nuovo Mercato Esquilino if you are into that type of thing like I am. I spent early mornings walking somewhere for coffee and then through the Mercato to watch the vendors work to ready their produce and meat to be pawed over by early restauranteurs which was a cool look at the underbelly life of this great city. I really liked that this hotel is not right up against the busy street and, on at least 2 sides of the building, there are streets that are not constantly jammed with the noise of traffic. My room fronted one of the quiet sides. It is unclear to me if I was upgraded to a nicer than standard room location because of my Hilton loyalty status but I had a very quiet stay in a room that was impeccably clean and could be easily darked out during the day if I needed a restorative nap for my jet lag. The gym was reasonably appointed and open 24/7 and the wi-fi speed was top notch. I had a great stay here for the money. Based on all of this, when in Rome in the future as a solo business traveler, I would be very happy to stay here again.

That made the location extremely convenient. The hotel sits a short walk from Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, where Pope Francis is buried. Some areas near the main train station are often described as unsafe by Italian standards. We did not experience that near the hotel. Tourists and locals were out late, and the neighborhood stayed active into the evening. Rome is compact and easy to navigate. Most major attractions felt reachable within about 20 minutes by taxi, bus, or rail. We tried to visit the Trevi Fountain at 10:00 pm to avoid crowds. That plan failed completely(see pic). It was packed. Locals eat later than in the U.S., and many parts of the city stay busy well into the night. Restaurants remain open late. A note for U.S. travelers. European hotel rooms run smaller for the price. Even using Hilton points, our room would have cost close to $700 per night USD and felt small. The hotel offers a pleasant rooftop bar and a spacious lobby with multiple seating areas. The buffet breakfast was a solid, comfortable way to start the day. It was included for us as Hilton Diamond members. I am unsure of the cash price. Overall, the location and amenities make this a smart pre-cruise choice, especially for travelers relying on rail connections.

The lounge just inside of the terrace is cozy and comfortable to enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail in the evening and there's a cozy fireplace to warm up, which we took full advantage of after a long wet rainy day in the colosseum and Roman forum. We had a great stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special Roman experience. We will definitely be back!
