Overall, we had many interactions with lots of staff members and they were almost always very patient and gracious with our unfamiliarity. Housekeeping was excellent. Concierge was top notch. The rooftop bar was a lot of fun! Breakfast buffet also a winner. Honestly, what's not to love at this location? I suppose if I were it nitpick the shower ledge was high so may have been tricky with my previous injury but the water pressure was a plus, also the bidet and so were the bath products. Service is superb, feels like a 5 star hotel. Location is good. Away from the busy touristy areas, but surrounded by lots of good restaurants within walking distance. Nearby are also mini markets and 15 minutes walk away is a grocery store. The lobby and restaurants are nice and classic. However, the rooms are quite dated. The bathroom sink lacks space to put down a toiletries bag. The toilet paper roll holder is way too far back to reach. I was in 2 rooms. One had a bar over the shower for towels or to hang clothes to dry - which was nice. The other room had a broken shower head holder that the shower head was constantly falling off of (room 127). One room (room 129) had very poor drainage, so took forever to rinse off foot. The bedsheets are soft, smooth and silky. They provide nice story terry slippers. There are individual small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and lotion. This is an older historic building which I always appreciate. However something is very wrong with the construct over the room I was staying in. In the first room that I stayed at (room 129), there was very loud water noise over the ceiling for a very long time in the middle of the night (an hour plus). It sounded like draining a tub of water or a flood. It was so loud I thought it was going to flood into my room. One of my rooms was not thoroughly cleaned or prepared. The trash bins were not emptied out, the welcome biscottis and water were not there. The rooftop restaurant/bar have a decent view of the city and the historical city wall. I do recommend taking a walk along the wall, which is right next to the hotel. It is 10-15 walk from the Borghese Garden and gallery. read more

This is a beautiful hotel with up and down service. I loved the stately lobby and pristine bar area. The waiter in the bar was great as he even worked with the kitchen to accommodate our breakfast food request despite the fact that breakfast had concluded. The food was very good too. The front desk staff were ok but not the friendliest people. They did their job but with a stiffness and forced smile that was not genuine and atypical from what I usually receive from a Marriott hotel. Perhaps most frustrating was that the hotel had a small staircase I had to carry my two large bags down when I was leaving, and the bell staff looked at me and then continued their conversation with each other and offered no assistance. I certainly didn't expect this given they helped get the bags to the room on the first day, and were tipped for the effort. The room itself was fine and more spacious than I expected. But the tub/shower combination was disappointing and didn't drain water well (it pooled up over your feet while showering). And most disappointing was the rooftop bar wasn't opened yet for the season despite the beautiful weather (I stayed at a different hotel almost 2 weeks later in Rome and their rooftop deck was open for business). This hotel is in a decent location and right next to a taxi stand which was very convenient. With some attention to service it can be excellent. read more

I reserved this hotel which cost USD$600+ per night. At this price, you think a hotel will be spectacular, right? Wrong! Upon my arrival at this hotel on September 7, 2022, I called reception to ask someone how I could lower the air conditioning which was blowing at full force & freezing. The employee at reception said that the A/C is controlled by a computer. I reiterated that I needed to control the temp myself, as the weather changed (day to night). The employee would not give up control of the A/C. I ended up catching g a cold & cough. Besides this, the bathroom is tiny and dated. To take a shower, you have to raise your leg & swing it over a high bathtub edge. Beware handicapped or elderly folks! Once standing in bathtub, you slip continuously because at either side of your feet, the tub walls curve & slope upward so you have no stability or bearing. I kept slipping as I showered. At breakfast, the cantaloupe was fizzy and wasted and the buffet lacked high quality food. . Although I emailed Marriott Resorts (btw, I'm a Marriott Bonvoy member), their only response was, "I am very sorry your stay ... was not the Marriott International experience you deserve." They asked Rome Marriott to take action and respond. Here's what they responded, "... The purpose of this is to convey to you our sincerest apologies" - PERIOD! We were able to enjoy a couple of nights at this amazing hotel. The location is perfect. Walk to the central area where there are many places to eat and people watch. Shopping is wonderful as well. The hotel has an exquisite breakfast on the rooftop. The views were exceptional. Check in was smooth. Our room had two balconettes with views of the city. The Gran Marriott Flora is stunning and impeccably maintained. I was fortunate enough to be upgraded to a corner suite, which has a spacious oval shaped living room and views over the park next door. This was a welcome treat as I always expect European rooms to be tiny. The interior spaces/stairwells and terrace on the top floor were beautiful. They serve a breakfast buffet on the spacious top floor terrace every morning (go early before it gets hot/sunny). The restaurant was fine, not really a destination, but there are so many great places to go in Rome not really an issue. Would definitely stay here again! read more

I recently had the chance to stay at this hotel while on a business trip to Rome. It is in a very convenient location within walking distance to many restaurants, the park and Trevi Fountain. I can say without a doubt its claim to fame is the rooftop buffet for breakfast from which you can see St. Peter's and sweeping views of western Rome. The staff was very attentive and the food delicious. The hotel bar was a highlight as well, where we'd stop and have drinks after work. Allesio's (sp?) bartending skills and Old Fashioned mixing were top notch and I took note for my drinks at home. The only thing I knocked them down on was the extensive construction going on at the time of my visit. Very loud sanding, banging, etc. started early and went throughout the day. I'm not sure if there was a way to avoid this, but all I could think was, "Thank goodness I don't try to sleep during the day. Yikes!" read more

Stayed here for 7 nights in August. Located on the swanky street of Via Veneto this Marriott is located across the street from the Metro which has a Carrefour market. I was upgraded to a junior suite on a upper floor which had a separate living room and bedroom and a plush bathroom which included a towel warmer. Bathrobes and slippers made the stay comfy and the room was quiet. Breakfast was complimentary and the rooftop restaurant Cabiria had spectacular views of Rome which including the Borghese park and the Vatican. Cons at the hotel was the customer service was spotty at the front desk, the living room furniture was dated and the gym lacked decent equipment. Rome Marriott Grand Flora Hotel My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary by spending 10 days in Italy during the summer of 2017. We stayed at the Rome Marriott Grand Flora Hotel for the first four days of our trip. First impression was that the hotel was small, but lovely, and had some beautiful design details. The staff was nice, but not overly friendly. Later in the week, we visited with the concierge and I was not impressed at all with their helpfulness. The lobby was inviting but no one was just sitting around like they do in other hotels. I felt like I was annoying the staff anytime I interacted with them. Curtis travels a lot for work. A LOT. And he always stays at Marriott properties. With each stay, he earns points and when asked if he wants a drink voucher or 500 points, he always chooses the points. Well when it came time to book our hotel for Rome, he had over half a million Marriott points banked. So he got us upgraded to the Presidential Suite. Cost plus points was comparable to a stay at any regular hotel. Wowsa. What a lovely surprise!!! The Presidential Suite was enormous! By far the biggest space we've ever stayed in. In addition to the large oval-shaped living room, we had two bathrooms, a long hall, a separate walk-in closet, and a large bedroom. It really was grand! Every window had a beautiful view. It's hard to describe what it's like to see ancient ruins right outside of your window. The Aurelian Walls run throughout the entire city of Rome and were built in the third century. The bathroom was so elegant. I had never seen nor tried a bidet before this trip to Italy... and... I tried it and I liked it! Very refreshing, albeit a bit awkward with bum knees. My only complaint was that the open shower left a lot of water on the floor and even with towels down, the floor was slippery. And the shower stall itself was on the small side. We were surprised to receive this enormous platter of fresh fruit, a bottle of Prosecco, and a box of chocolates from the hotel. We are traveling in style now, baby! Happy 20th Anniversary to us!!! The hotel had some gorgeous architectural details, I especially loved the staircases. Just leaving the lobby takes us outside to the vestibule where cars can unload. Looking to the right we see the Aurelian Wall again. We were a bit removed from the heavy tourist areas but close enough that a walk or short taxi ride would get us there quickly. The next morning, we went up to breakfast on the hotel's terrace. Wow! What a view from the top of the Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora. We ordered coffee then went through the breakfast buffet. As soon as we sat down, seagulls came to investigate. These birds are much bigger than they look! And I didn't realize how close we were to the Italian coastline... it's less than 30 miles away from Rome. I was super impressed with the breakfast food at our hotel. We had a lovely selection of eggs, fresh fruit, fresh bread, and fresh juice. Nothing came out of a box or was processed. Delicious! We had breakfast on the terrace every day of our stay. I was impressed with the Marriott Grand Flora until I stayed at a couple of other Marriott properties, including a second one in Rome at the end of our trip. If I'm ever lucky enough to return to Rome, I would probably not stay here again simply because the service was just good but not great. read more

Stayed here for four nights with our baby boy. All in all, things went smoothly. We got a junior suite. I was a bit worried before arriving as other reviewers have reported their "living room" to be extremely narrow, but we were pleased. Off the top of my head, I'd say our extra room was a good 10 x 20 feet. And the baby cot had been placed in the room already, as requested beforehand. There were a few small things that were not great. - We had to traverse a small stairway to reach the elevators, so that meant I carried our baby in his stroller up and down about five steps every time we came and went. Just something for you all to know in case you have mobility issues. - The doormen were either understaffed or just not very attentive. Often, my wife or I had to open the door for the other who was pushing a stroller. - Gold members no longer receive free breakfast. This was disappointing and I think was a change made after I reserved the room but before our stay. We were given 50% off vouchers at check-in. I emailed the hotel about this but was simply told it was a company decision. While I understand, I do believe a true 4 or 5 star hotel would make an exception and grandfather in an inquiring customer. The one major issue we had was when housekeeping left a used bidet towel sitting on one of the mats we were using to dry our baby's bottle's. Disgusting! I don't know how this happened and can only assume it was an oversight to leave it there. However it is wrong to even place it there in the first place! It caused me to wonder what else housekeeping was doing while they were cleaning that I would not like. I did not report the incident as what was done was done, and I really did not feel like taking the time to complain as I was not seeking any compensation. Oh, and as some others have noted, we did have some towels with stains that we simply threw on the ground as soon as we saw them. Maybe staying at the Four Seasons prior to this tainted my experience; however, I still feel there is much room for improvement for this hotel. First, we booked through a travel agent so it wasn't direct through Marriott. Because we had a "voucher" we were treated like second class citizens even though I am almost Marriott Gold. Our decision to stay at this hotel was based on a few things: king size bed (hubby is very tall) location, Marriott rewards program. The hotel was sold out so we ended up with a very soft queen bed. When one of us rolled over it woke up the other person so not good. We requested a king size bed but because they were sold out we couldn't move until the final day. Even our travel agent tried but no luck. We spoke to other guests that were Platinum members and it was a nigh and day experience. If you aren't a Marriott Platinum person forget about any special treatment or upgrade. After the room debacle we thought we might get an upgraded king room...no such luck. The final night both keys didn't work so we had to go to the front desk to have them rekeyed...they probably reset them on accident. At checkout they tried to charge me full price for our stay and didn't apply the voucher until I looked at the bill. They are vigilant about their free Wi-Fi with only allowing two devices access. Rooms are very tiny and typical European sized so don't expect this to be the larger size American rooms. On the positive the Concierge was wonderful and the rooftop breakfast provided and an amazing view of the city. I don't understand why they don't have the rooftop open in the evening for cocktails. Location is awesome but don't expect your normal high end Marriott experience here. For the $600/night I had much higher expectations for my stay. read more

As far as Marriott's go you won't find one in a better neighborhood than this in Rome, it's close to the Metro, the US embassy, the Hard Rock and the Spanish Steps. While beautiful on the outside the front desk staff was pretentious and snobby. The front desk clerk thought he could get away with talking down to me, after a little chest thumping from me he backed down. The room while very clean with a nice bathroom was teeny tiny and faced an interior court, you would think that using Marriott points I would receive a little nicer room. I was also very disappointed that the rooftop restaurant was closed for a private event. I wouldn't have booked there if they had made me aware of that. We only stayed here one night but it wasn't too bad. For the price, I would have expected more but I suppose you are paying for the location. This is in a nice area of town near the American Embassy and nice restaurants. It is also near a huge park and has a great view from the rooftop. We did not eat breakfast there, but just went up to check it out. The room was decent sized and for European standards, quite roomy. The bathroom had a bedet and the soaps and shamppos were high quality. There was a desk area and a large flatscreen TV. You had to put your key in this slot near the front door in order for electricity to work in the room. The business center was lacking as the computers were old and slow. Also, the room that it was in seemed like an old starge closet that they expanded to make the business center. The staff was friendly and helpful. read more

It's Rome so expect everything to be expensive. The hotel is no exception. I recommend you create a Marriot Rewards account before your stay if you don't have one and you will probably get your wifi for free. If not, the charge is reasonable at 9 Euro for 7 days stay. My wifi was free but limited to three devices. The rooms are a little on the small size but relative to most Marriots and bigger than typical European hotels. There is no swimming pool but they do have a small gym with basic equipment. Breakfast was included in our rate plan and had a very expansive buffet selection of hot and cold food choices. Mimosas are available at no additional charge and the coffe was fantastic. All of the staff that we associated with were very friendly. Maid service checked the room twice daily and left chocolates in the evening. There is a metro entrance just across the street but expect about a 5 minute walk underground to reach the tracks. It is convenient to access all of the great sightseeing locations. There is also a hop on hop off bus stop only a few blocks away. The pasty shop next to the hotel is a must stop. Gelato and other menu items are very affordable here and quite tasty. The name is Lotti and it's also recommended by the hotel. Beer at least he hotel bar will run you about 12 Euro each. The price you expect for convenience in a hotel bar. The price is the same or even higher across the street at Harry's Bar. Find a place off the beaten path. read more

The breakfast on the roof was delicious and you can't beat that view a truly magical combination. The coffee was exquisite and it'll really wake you up in the morning. The waffles are delicious but It also could be brad makes a dirty waffle. They have made huge strides in the technology of mini pancake making allow breakfast to be made at the push of a button. The concierge was awesome! She knows excellent service. Unlike other high end hotels who don't have great concierge. We got a junior suite which was only $259 per night. They have the best breakfast buffet in the city because of the rooftop view. The hotel is close to the city center, metro and sites. It's adjacent to the villa borghese. We walked everywhere from here. Great if you're going to stay in the city or if it's your first time in Rome. When I was in my 20s, I stayed at hostels throughout Europe which are like 3 star hotels. I'd recommend avoiding this hotel at all costs. You will be robbed. It doesn't matter if COVID prevents you from traveling - they will still take your money and use the COVID emergency in Italy lapsing as an excuse. Meanwhile, there are limited options to even get to Italy from US along with US travel being deemed unsafe in Europe. Flavia Casini was absolutely horrendous with the lack of any customer service or understanding. Rather than just stealing my money, I wasn't offered a voucher to return next year, not even a bottle wine promised if I were to return next year after stealing $1,000+ from me during the COVID emergency. A despicable act during a difficult time. It's truly a shame that this one incident has led me to pursue canceling my Bonvoy card and loyalty. (PS - Hilton refunded me in Italy! Due to the Coronavirus, we postponed our trip to Rome. Rescheduling and refunds were not issues with the airline and pre-scheduled tours. But, the Flora still has not issued a refund or offered new dates of stay for when there is no longer a travel issue. Despite Marriott's recent company-wide policy allowing customers to receive refunds due to the virus, this hotel has not complied. Additionally, we have been thrown into a loop of contacting corporate and then being redirected to the Flora--where each time we were treated with disrespect or just flat-out ignored. It's really too bad about this hotel...it is pretty and centrally located, but not worth the aggravation or unfair treatment. read more

The Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora is located in the heart of Rome, within the historic city walls and on the ritzy Via Veneto. Unknown to me prior to our trip is the fact that this area is one of the most expensive areas of Rome. As a result, there are a lot of overpriced restaurants on the street, as well as high-end retailers. The US Embassy is also on the street, and is about a 5 minute walk away. The nearest metro station is a 10-15 minute walk away, while both the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps are about a 15 minute walk away as well. Anyway, back to the property. The Flora is located in a historic building built in 1909. The decor of the property is decidedly on the historic side as well. Despite the historic decor, though, the property does have updated technology, including wireless and wired high-speed internet access and flatscreen HDTVs. Despite this, however, the climate control system is, unfortunately, antiquated. You are unable to set your own temperature; the system is centralized with a central control. You can, however, alter the temperature slightly by +/- 2 degrees and are able to control the fan speed. Beyond the technology, the room is pretty old looking. I'm not talking about the historic feeling either. The furniture, carpet, and drapes throughout the property looked tired and worn. A refresh is long overdue. Otherwise, the rooms are nice and have a good amount of features. In my one stay here, I had a Jr Suite. Unfortunately, the room was facing the interior courtyard and thus had no view. However, the room did have a separate living room, separate bedroom with king bed and a decent sized bathroom with shower/tub combo. Despite having a single vanity, the bathroom did have a towel warming rack in the shower/tub combo and a bidet. Next to the bathroom is a decent sized closet with the safe and some drawers. Note: the in-room safes in this hotel aren't large enough to lockup a 15" laptop. Oh, and watch out for those towel heaters! Nearly burned myself once or twice! There's also no drying line in the bathroom incase you need to wash something. Another interesting note is the lack of unoccupied electrical outlets in the room. And those that were available often stopped supplying power when the lights were turned off... good thing there's a door between the bedroom and living room so we could leave the lights on in there and let the phones/cameras charge while we slept! Service wise, this property is a mixed bag. The front desk staff was pretty unfriendly when we checked in. The doormen were mixed, some being friendly and others not. The maids, though, are very friendly, and for our room, we received daily housekeeping AND turndown service. Turndown service also came with amazing chocolates made by none other than Italian chocolatier Venchi! The turndown service wasn't so much a turndown as a refresh, but that's ok. Perhaps what was most odd about this property was the food service. The whole property seems to revolve around their restaurant, the Cabiria. In fact, when you turn on your TV for the first time, it will say the Cabiria Restaurant welcomes you! The restaurant is opened for lunch and dinner and closes between the two services, though we didn't try. The menu is rather limited (in my opinion) and while they say they are Michelin rated (though not starred), I couldn't find them in the 2013 guide. I also felt it was overpriced, but again, I didn't try it for myself. It's also important to note that there's only 3 elevators on the entire property and they're very small and slow. We stayed five nights in this very nice hotel. First the good: Location, location, location! As a platinum member we were upgraded to a junior suite which was very nice. The staff was average The bar staff was exceptional The maid service was better than any I have ever experienced. The not so good: It appears the economic problems in Italy are filtering down to the workers. The attitude was a bit off from when we here in 2008. The hotel is very dated with furniture and carpets worn down. The slow pace in Italy is no longer cute to me after traveling here more than 20 times. It took nearly 10 minutes to check out and no one was in line ahead of me. That is just absurd. The rest of Europe has progressed more quickly. The food service and quality was average but reasonably priced for the area. The breakfast was very average. As I booked three rooms so far for my pre stay in Rome and was suggested this hotel by a friend. I can for sure say that two of the three rooms were ready when we arrived early as planned yet since I booked all three rooms and being a Marriott rewards Member and paying for all three rooms that we should have at least received our room as well at the same time with early check in. But that didn't happen. Furthermore, the assistance at the front desk was sorry but not sorry really nothing we can do without much of a care. I know being American to check my attitude and expectations at the door. I usually enjoy Marriott properties but I won't be staying at this one again for sure. Look for another hotel if you expect to book a hotel with any plan or early arrivals or late check outs. read more

I'm here on business using this hotels meeting rooms to conduct our business. I've been in this meeting from since 7 AM and tonight we ordered in food for our very eclectic crowd that the hotel cannot cook for. It took some major haggling and arguing, but the hotel conceded to providing us with plates and flatware. Finally. Is it too much to ask? Thank you for at least accommodating us this time. read more

I used to stay at this hotel for many years until last July 2018 when I woke with brown spots and a blood spot on the pillow. I realized that it was traces of droppings from bed bugs. I was mortified that I got bitten by bed bugs in a Marriott Hotel. I immediately contacted the front office manager who at first did not even want to move me from the room. He then reluctantly agreed after the room service supervisor saw the brown spots for herself and told him that they must move me. Later I talked to the manager and sent them emails but they just insisted that it was not bed bugs without giving any explanation to the what was on the pillow. I asked to be compensated for a one night stay but they refused. They were adamant that there were no bed bugs. Awful experience. I will never stay there again. read more

While the location of this property was good, overall service as a Marriott Platinum member was just ok. Lot of issues with redeeming points, no room upgrades and the internet was often slow of down completely. The restaurant staff was very nice, but front desk, not so much read more

I have organized a group trip to Europe for the past 19 years. I do not work for a travel agency & I pay to go on the trip like the rest of the group. My group last year stayed at the Grand Flora Hotel Rome. We had a group of 60 that were staying 2 nights , checking in 10/16/18. Total charges for the group were about $28,000. Most of the 60 guests spent money that is not included in the group total. I stayed at this hotel w/ a group of over 100 in 11/15. Stay was wonderful, everything was done well & it was a highlight of our trip. It was because of this visit that I chose to return to the hotel. There were 2 couples from the group that wanted to arrive at the hotel on earlier. I made a reservation online for 2 rooms. I then decided to ask my contact person at the hotel, if I could add a room to my group reservation on 10/15/18. I was told that it was possible to add a room for that date. I then canceled both rooms online. The other couple decided that they did not want to leave the group that night and would not be staying at the Grand Flora Hotel . For some reason only one of them canceled completely. Initially neither of them showed up again when you looked under my upcoming reservations. Months later when I was on the trip in Italy, I noticed that I had an upcoming reservation when I checked my Marriott account. This was the first that I noticed this. I do check my account frequently because as a Platinum Premier, [now Titanium Elite] member I have a great deal of activity. At this time I was traveling through Italy on a bus with 60 people. My phone didn't have service but I had our Italian guide call the hotel. He was not able to get in touch with the group contact. I emailed her starting 10/13 several times but no response. I was extremely concerned because I thought that this reservation I was now seeing in my account could be the room I booked for the couple arriving early. When I contacted the hotel &spoke to the front desk, I was told that I had a certificate that was attached to that reservation. I did not understand what they meant by a certificate because I had not use points for that reservation. I called 4 times & none of the times was able to talk to the contact person or get this sorted out through the front desk. As soon as we checked in on 10/16 I asked to speak to a manager immediately When the rest of the group of 60 were out enjoying Rome & the fabulous location of our hotel, I was in the lobby waiting for the hotel group contact. I knew it was important that this be sorted out correctly. As soon as I saw her I asked her & she had no response. At that point I felt I had done everything I could. I knew that as a Platinum Premier member that Marriott would stand by me. About a month later I received an email from the hotel that I would be charged for this reservation. I immediately contacted her via email. On 10/24here is what she said: "As far as the no-show is concerned, we do understand you followed all required steps for canceling the booking online within the deadline. We will therefore keep this charge pending and would like to suggest to refer directly to the Marriott Desk, in order to verify if the cancellation went through correctly. As soon as we receive a communication proving the cancellation was confirmed, we would be able to wave the penalty charge. On the contrary, please be informed that cancellation policy is very strict and considering the high occupancy levels for that night we will not be able to wave the penalty." I also contacted the general manager, Flavia Casini. There were many emails exchanged between us. He also said that they were waiting for the Marriott Desk. After reading this I felt that the charge would be sorted out and I would not be charged. This was not true. In 1/19 I was charged $435.17 from the Grand Flora Hotel . I again emailed Debora Viel and Flavia Casini. I felt I wasn't getting anywhere and should email Amy McPherson, CEO Marriott Hotels, Europe. I did this & was disappointed not to receive a response. I also spoke NUMEROUS -at least 10 times to Marriott Customer Service and each time spoke w/ a supervisor. I was told that a phone call would be made to the hotel and this would be fixed. All these promises but nothing happened. I was given this case # - 81523588.I also received emails from 2 people in Marriott Customer Lucy Cox & Janet B. both from Marriott Customer Care. Again, nothing happened.I am frustrated. I can not believe the Grand Flora Hotel Rome would charge me for this room reservation. There are reasons that they should not have charged me - I am a Platinum Premier Member, we spent about $28 K in10/18 & about $44 K in 11/15. but the most important reason - I did EVERYTHING I could to sort this out. I called & emailed the hotel w/no answer from Debora,before we checked in.This is not fair & it isn't the way Marriott use to operate.
