I booked a reservation here through Costco and overall I thought the experience here is pretty solid. Things I liked 1. Breakfast was good. Grand selection and it's nice to not have to find food outside in the morning. 2. They gave us a complimentary wine for our honeymoon. Tasted great! 3. They were friendly and also gave us free soft drinks at the bar. 4. LOCATION, so close to the train station and in the heart near all tourist things in Rome. Things that could've went better 1. Our toilet broke and didn't flush for a small period of time, it ended up fixing itself. Overall I would recommend this spot for the location, breakfast, and amenities. Great location for food, not very close to any major landmarks though as far as walking is concerend. Very clean and the staff is nice.

We stayed here 3 days while we explored Rome. The good news: It's a great location! We walked to the Coliseum, the Vatican, our bike rental place, many restaurants, etc. it's clean and the staff is more than willing to accommodate. They gave us a nice bottle of Italian wine when we registered. There is a large assortment of breakfast items to choose from. Beds were very nice quality. It was incredibly quiet. They have a very cool light control where you have to put in your room key to have the lights come on. The not so good: Breakfast items were not of the same high quality we've had elsewhere. The coffee Americana was the weakest we had in Italy. Juices were watered down, lots of bread but not so great, we never figured out how to change the thermostat in the room. read more

Great location, great service, nice competent employees, and a very nice room, what more could you want. We were part of a tour and so we arrived at this location after a harrowing drive into town. Our driver was amazing, as the traffic in the heart of this city makes Los Angeles look like a picnic... amazing, but I digress. The location in the middle of town made it very easy to walk to many of the highlights that are sought after in Rome. But it's easy to get a good location, getting good people is a bit more difficult, and the Metropole has done it. The day of our departure I was able to come up with a string of stupid and silly questions and the folks at the front desk tolerated me, and, even smiled at me as they tolerated me. I appreciated it. It take skill to help somebody asking dumb questions and at the same time making them feel good about it. An example of the customer service excellence was obvious every morning as my wife was able to ask for a cappuccino and they gave her one. There was no handy machine in the breakfast area, nope, the employee went an made it for her. Impressive. The Metropole will be on my list for all future visits to Rome. As this was my first visit to Rome, there is a good chance that it's my last, but if I do head back, I would not hesitate to stay there again. read more

Great staff! The bartender Gennaro is great..makes a good dirty martini and speaks Spanish too! The restaurant here is very good and the prices are reasonable for dinner! The place that desk group recommended was not good...they need to promote their restaurant. Our server Cosmina was top notch! I recommend the prosciutto and Buratta appetizer!! The room was clean and air conditioning worked well! We enjoyed the "happy hour" appetizer was a meal in itself..lovely beef carpaccio (roast beef) fried zucchini thin sliced and porchetta with focaccia romana which was next level delicious! This is an initial first day review. So far, we are not happy with our room or the service. First off, when we booked it looked completely different in the photos than it did in person so we felt deceived. Secondly, we have asked several times for more towels and blankets but end of the night still nothing. We also asked for slippers but apparently our room type doesn't get any. Another thing to note is the AC doesn't want to work like it did when we first got in the room, showering soaks the floor because there is no door or shower curtain & no one picks up the phone when you try to call down. We also wanted a queen but instead they pushed together two beds. We will be looking to cancel and switch hotels in the morning. read more

I have fond memories of this hotel, maybe because this was the first hotel in Europe that we have ever used. Check-in and check-out were quick and efficient. Desk clerks spoke workable English, and were very accommodating. Breakfast was served buffet-style, which was amazing. We were able to taste-test foods/dishes that were new to us. Everything was delicious, and the spread was unbelievable! This hotel is in a great location, within a 10-minute walk of the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain. There are a lot of restaurants within that walk, as well. We were there for only two nights, so our small room was adequate. The only complaint we had was the view from our window---a strange enclosed area with fire escape-type stairs. Nothing to write home about. Our experience at this hotel was memorable. 2.5/5 Stars. The front desk was friendly, the rooms were clean and decent, and there's a free breakfast that is alright enough but that's about the end of it. My two biggest issues were 1.) The tv's have a lot of channels and satellite stations from other countries, but literally only ONE english speaking channel and even sometimes it would be in a different language. After a long day of walking all around the city exploring I like to return to my room to enjoy some entertainment and relax by watching tv as many do, well you can't really do that if you only speak english. With the amount of English tourism here, I would've thought that they'd be more accommodating. Furthermore, this hotel proudly boasts about their "High Speed Internet" which is absolutely a bold face lie. I tried to just watch Netflix on my laptop instead but that is also impossible with the wifi only running at a turtle paced 2 mbps (for those that are not tech savvy, 2 mbps is just as slow if not slower than dial up from the 1990's which is absolutely laughable). This hotel is only good for sleeping and taking a shower, nothing else and nothing more which is absolutely not indicative of a "4-Star Hotel". Maybe this hotel was four stars 20+ years ago, but it is now 2024 and this hotel is three stars behind. They need some serious updating and definitely a change in management/corporate or this hotel will continue to decline until it goes under and bankrupts itself. Next time I am in Rome I will probably end up choosing Hotel Artemide which has way better reviews and amenities at the same price point. Very disappointed with this hotel and it's misleading advertising. read more

Rome is such a large city and seems as though we are in a good location. Quick walk to the tour buses and bus terminal. Room is clean and check in was a breeze. Our rooms were ready when we arrived early at 11:30 am. We needed it so we could sleep for a couple hours before heading out. We read complaints about the air, no issues in our room. Our kids were right next door, no adjoining rooms but close. We used the Monograms tour package and our host was friendly and had us prepared for our 3 day stay here. Always there to help. Complimentary breakfast every morning was good. Buffet style. Good hours also. 6-10am. So sleeping late works good. This was our largest room from our trip to Italy. We arrived from NYC at about 8am our room wasn't ready. Reception said we could upgrade for an immediately available room for another 35 euros per night-we declined. We were able to check I. At about 10:30am, which was good. The room came with non-alcohol beverage which we had tonight. However, after two night the bottle of Chianti still had not arrive in the room. We asked a second time this evening-still hopeful derive will dial it up a bit. A call to front desk inquiring on the wine makes a third request. This is why we moved the review from a 4 star to a three star. The hotel is in a great location. Easy walking access to a lot of locations, bars and restaurants. Room was clean with a good shower and bidet-which is a nice change up. The breakfast is well laid out, while light, is a good balance of sliced meats and fruit. The coffee was strong and the espresso on request-we enjoyed. We'd stay again. read more

Never in my life have I encountered a mass of idiots like the ones that staff this hotel. From an incompetent and unprofessional front desk, to a bellman who cannot even operate a room fan. The doorman stands silently, never opening a door or helping with anything. I just wanted to sit in the restaurant during lunch, to have a table to work on, and wait on my family and was refused and briskly shown the door. My room is situated next to a plumbing drain, which handled water all night, and I am right on top of the dining room, awakened by the sound of crashing plates for several hours this morning. Agreed with most that's already written here. Staff were not overly friendly, but not blatantly rude, except the two security/entrance greeters. The men that monitor the front door also closely monitor female guests' behinds, taking the job so seriously that they will move to areas of the entrance to get a good view. This isn't uncommon on the street, but I was surprised to see by hotel staff. Room is adequate and in the hot August temperatures- was always cool. The breakfast was below average. The only thing I really ate was luke warm scrambled eggs. They had cut up hotdogs, Rice Krispie/corn flake cereal, canned warm mushrooms and green beans, and canned pears. Little pastries and mini croissants were there too but were stale and never tasted fresh. We might have been lucky in the past with very generous and hospitable hotels, so our expectations were a bit raised and therefore disappointed in some interactions. Many flights from America arrive 8-9am. They are used to customers arriving early and having to wait. I didn't sleep all night and arrived seriously jet lagged and exhausted. We sat at the front awaiting our room. We asked if we could have a bite to eat at the buffet while we wait. "No" was the answer, as we only get breakfast the nights we stay, but you can go a few blocks down to get breakfast." I was too tired to try and navigate at that point. We then asked for some water and were charged 2.5x the normal rate. This may be the norm, and we could have been just spoiled previously with hotels that truly cared for their guests comfort. The room was always cleaned well and fairly quiet. It's near Termini station if you plan on using the metro. We won't stay here again, but it does provide the bare necessities if your in a crunch. read more

I stayed here for a week during my visit in February. Very good hotel, fairly new property therefore the construction & layout is modern and spacious, as is the decor, furnishings and bathrooms. Or it's been renovated??? Either way, it's not one of those old construction European hotels with tiny rooms and bathrooms. Service was very good. No language problems. The front desk staff was very helpful during check-in process, they were great about explaining directions, metro etc. Room was quite spacious and very comfortable. It was facing the inside of the building (not towards the street) so I had no noise issues at night whatsoever. Black out curtains. Very comfortable bedding & VERY clean! I slept really well during my stay here. Bathroom is modern, sufficient vanity space and extra shelves for toiletries. Very clean. Well maintained & good housekeeping service, leaving extra free water bottle daily. Breakfast was included in my booking, decent selection of breads, meats, cheeses, eggs and fruits etc. These basics are usually what I look for in the morning, so I can't relate to people's complaints about limited choices. Location is great too. 15-20 minutes walk from the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain & Pantheon etc. Two Metro stops just around the block and Termini Station is a block away too where you can get the train to the airport from. A block away from the Opera. Not so much in the heart of the hustle & bustle that you get disturbed by loud street noise at night yet a short walk to everything major. They have several hotels on the block, a few coffee shops, restaurants as well a some souvenir shops etc. Post office is around the corner too. Taxis easily available. Nice location near train station. Convenient to most sights. We walked everywhere. Very clean hotels. Rooms were nice. Bathrooms were large enough and modern. You have to insert your key card upon entering room for lights to work. There were three of us and we had three twin beds. My son's bed had a leg that broke off so he tried to counterbalance the weight. Since it was the middle of the night we didn't call front desk. We were too tired. But when I told them the next morning they apologized. I kind of expected them to comp the $2 water we had in return but they didn't. This hotel did exchange currency, at which seemed a reasonable rate, but I'm not totally sure. Nice hotel. Good location. Free breakfast. Recommend. read more

We spent 4 nights, 5 days at this hotel. Wonderful, comfortable beds, great breakfast buffet and all around excellent service. My husband and I really enjoyed the hotel bar. Our Barrendar Diego was the best in Rome! Not only did Diego make the best cocktails, he offered us great advice and tips for seeing all the sites and eating out in Rome. Ask him to sing and play some piano and you will be blown away!!! Rate hotel 5 stars but Diego gets 6 stars!!! read more

Very clean hotel with a big buffet breakfast! If you are not familiar with the Starhotels chain, this hotel reminded me of an older Hilton or Marriott in Atlanta, GA. Very clean, spacious and modern with an efficient helpful staff. Our room was large and roomy even for 3 adults with a full size modern bathroom. The soaps smelled wonderful and the aroma permeated the room in a pleasant way. Our room faced an interior courtyard which made for peacefully, quiet sleep after our very busy days walking the city. A huge bonus was the full restaurant breakfast buffet in the morning. With 2 teenage boys, this filling meal was a life saver. They offered eggs, breakfast meets, breads, cheeses, potato options, fruits, yogurts, etc. No matter your breakfast preference, I am sure you could find something that you like! The staff were very helpful in recommending restaurants and arranging transportation as well. read more

Great hotel!! I was a little disappointed that they couldn't honor my double room reservation during early check in. I didn't want twin beds but that's the usual in Europe and I wanted to get an early start on site seeing so I settled for what was available. The room was spacious. I mean extra room to walk around which is rare in Europe. The hotel is an easy walk from the Termini train station which made it easy to get around the city. Good location nearly 15 minutes from the Spanish Steps (walking). Pretty good places to eat nearby, but much better places near the fountain. The rooms are spacious with all the modern amenities you could ask for. Recently renovated, so everything is very modern and new. The beds are amazing. I slept very well all week. It made for a good location for my wife and I to see all of Rome in the 7 days we were there. The staff speaks good English and all were very helpful. Worst experience ever with a hotel!!! Decided at the last minute, midnight , that we had to purchase another room after telling travel agent ok to bring a cot to our room for one night!! Our second room booked had a pull out couch and two single beds together, but they made us purchase a third room for my daughter and her two friends. There is no one here, it's a ghost town. Super disappointed. Rooms smell like sewage and view is of compressors and heating units. Do not come here. Very rude staff and taking advantage of foreigners. read more

I found this hotels location near the main train station to be very convenient. However it is a mile or so east from the major tourist attractions. The front desk was a little rude when I asked for wine glasses to enjoy a bottle of wine in our room and they looked at me strange and explained that they do not provide wine glasses. Pretty strange and rude for a hotel. It wasn't a big deal though. Our room was large for European standards and the complimentary breakfast was good. read more
