We really enjoyed our stay at the Starhotels Metropole. It was great because it was not far from things we wanted to do. The staff was very accommodating and the rooms were very clean. We really enjoyed the breakfast along with our stay.

I chose this hotel because it is really close to the train station. The hotel is in a great location. The Trevi, Spanish Steps and Pantheon are all walking distance. We even walked to the Vatican from here. There are plenty of restaurants near by. The area is very safe. The hotel staff are all helpful. I would stay here again.

Great location, great service, nice competent employees, and a very nice room, what more could you want. We were part of a tour and so we arrived at this location after a harrowing drive into town. Our driver was amazing, as the traffic in the heart of this city makes Los Angeles look like a picnic... amazing, but I digress. The location in the middle of town made it very easy to walk to many of the highlights that are sought after in Rome. But it's easy to get a good location, getting good people is a bit more difficult, and the Metropole has done it. The day of our departure I was able to come up with a string of stupid and silly questions and the folks at the front desk tolerated me, and, even smiled at me as they tolerated me. I appreciated it. It take skill to help somebody asking dumb questions and at the same time making them feel good about it. An example of the customer service excellence was obvious every morning as my wife was able to ask for a cappuccino and they gave her one. There was no handy machine in the breakfast area, nope, the employee went an made it for her. Impressive. The Metropole will be on my list for all future visits to Rome. As this was my first visit to Rome, there is a good chance that it's my last, but if I do head back, I would not hesitate to stay there again.

This red wine was smooth and delicious‼

Great staff! The bartender Gennaro is great..makes a good dirty martini and speaks Spanish too! The restaurant here is very good and the prices are reasonable for dinner! The place that desk group recommended was not good...they need to promote their restaurant. Our server Cosmina was top notch! I recommend the prosciutto and Buratta appetizer!! The room was clean and air conditioning worked well! We enjoyed the "happy hour" appetizer was a meal in itself..lovely beef carpaccio (roast beef) fried zucchini thin sliced and porchetta with focaccia romana which was next level delicious! Good wines and great staff!!

I really enjoyed this hotel, it was very nice and modern. Clean and well located near the train station. The breakfast was great and included gluten free options. I would stay here again without question.

Rome is such a large city and seems as though we are in a good location. Quick walk to the tour buses and bus terminal. Room is clean and check in was a breeze. Our rooms were ready when we arrived early at 11:30 am. We needed it so we could sleep for a couple hours before heading out. We read complaints about the air, no issues in our room. Our kids were right next door, no adjoining rooms but close. We used the Monograms tour package and our host was friendly and had us prepared for our 3 day stay here. Always there to help. Complimentary breakfast every morning was good. Buffet style. Good hours also. 6-10am. So sleeping late works good. This was our largest room from our trip to Italy. It was the best for sure.

Evidently, a training hotspot for rude and blissfully incompetent hotel staff.

That made the location extremely convenient. The hotel sits a short walk from Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, where Pope Francis is buried. Some areas near the main train station are often described as unsafe by Italian standards. We did not experience that near the hotel. Tourists and locals were out late, and the neighborhood stayed active into the evening. Rome is compact and easy to navigate. Most major attractions felt reachable within about 20 minutes by taxi, bus, or rail. We tried to visit the Trevi Fountain at 10:00 pm to avoid crowds. That plan failed completely(see pic). It was packed. Locals eat later than in the U.S., and many parts of the city stay busy well into the night. Restaurants remain open late. A note for U.S. travelers. European hotel rooms run smaller for the price. Even using Hilton points, our room would have cost close to $700 per night USD and felt small. The hotel offers a pleasant rooftop bar and a spacious lobby with multiple seating areas. The buffet breakfast was a solid, comfortable way to start the day. It was included for us as Hilton Diamond members. I am unsure of the cash price. Overall, the location and amenities make this a smart pre-cruise choice, especially for travelers relying on rail connections.

We were able to walk to great shopping, restaurants and sites, including the colosseum and Trevi fountain. Clean accommodations and friendly staff. With jet lag, our sleep schedule was sporadic. Pro tip: Ironing boards/iron not in room and must be requested via Front Desk. However, you can have up to TWO items pressed daily Free. I deducted one star because our bed was lumpy - time to switch out the mattress! And be sure to request a room on floors 1-3. The fourth floor is right below the gym and very noisy during gym hours.

However, it is quietly nestled in a beautiful little neighborhood. It is very quiet and quaint. Upon arrival we were greeted with the welcoming staff and escorted into the ruins beyond the lobby where we were brought a lovely tiramisu welcome treat to enjoy while taking in the ruins. The room is impressively large with a huge bathroom. We had a plush king sized bed with cozy down bedding. The thick beautiful curtains ensured that the room was perfectly dark for great sleep even if we wanted a mid day nap. There was a lovely little balcony with a view of the courtyard. With the curtains open the natural light is perfect. The bed was comfortable and we Sisto very nicely here. The bathroom is very big with a walk in shower and bidet with all toiletries needed to have a comfortable stay. I will say I was a bit bummed that the tile warmer was not functional but the hotel was very kind offering anything to make sure that we were happy. This was not a problem and we stayed in this room as warming towels us a perk but not a requirement. I would also note that the building is quite old and the bathroom had a metallic smell perhaps from the pipes of older plumbing but it was fine as long as we kept the bathroom door closed. I think the hotel was really concerned that we were upset but we absolutely were not just keep in mind this building is antique and if you are coming from the US where everything is new and not used to a potential aroma of antiquity be prepared to experience a true European city and do not complain. All details are thought of here including mini bar, clothes steamer, hair dryer, toiletries and a welcome gift. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. They are always ensuring that we were comfortable and happy. We absolutely loved our stay here. The hotel is a special place and experience. The nostalgia of standing and staying where the Romans once stood 2000 years ago was definitely a treat! The hotel has a rooftop terrace where we enjoyed breakfast in the mornings and wine in the evening. The lounge just inside of the terrace is cozy and comfortable to enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail in the evening and there's a cozy fireplace to warm up, which we took full advantage of after a long wet rainy day in the colosseum and Roman forum. We had a great stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special Roman experience. We will definitely be back!
