Perfect venue for the Candlelight event we went to. We circled the block a few times trying to find this venue, it was obvious on foot but not as noticeable driving by. All of the staff was professional and friendly. Once we checked in for the Candlelight event we were seated at a high top table. The stage was elevated so there weren't any bad seats. They offered beer and wine for alcoholic beverages at the bar. The ambiance was intimate and the decor was perfect. We listened to tunes by D'Angelo and Jill Scott. The duo singing both had amazing voices and put their own spin on each song. I've been to several Candlelight events but the one here a La Maison Rouge was my favorite. I just got married here in January, and words cannot describe how amazing the entire experience was. Nicolette the owner and wedding coordinator was so graciously above and beyond helpful with everything! As a new bride and planning my wedding on my own I had so many questions and concerns and she was so available even if I was (most likely) being incredibly annoying. We paid to rent out the atrium of the Healey building (separate from the event space, just upstairs) on her recommendation and I CANNOT GET OVER how absolutely gorgeous and magical it was, especially to just go downstairs for the reception into the beautiful Maison Rouge and surprise all the guest with its glory (We chose to get married here because the space needs NO extra decoration). I'm just so beyond impressed and in love. The dressing room bathrooms was such a nice touch too, On site getting ready! Just to have Nicolette come and scoop you up and point you to the aisle. La Maison Rouge is such an Atlanta icon and I am so proud and blessed to have been married there. Side note: they have moved downtown and the building is historic and gorgeous. If you need an event space and you enjoy an eclectic taste this is definitely the spot for you. My son and his wife had their wedding celebration here and the age group was from young to older and EVERYONE got a kick out of this decor. The staff that served us was amazing, there is a decent receiving line area, which we used as both receiving guests and a food buffet. Enter further into the space and a good sized bar greets you, with plenty of table seating as well. A dance floor, and romantic nooks and crannies as well. Really the space had it all. Oh, except for signage and parking. Two negative things for your out of town guests or those not familiar with the area. But, otherwise a perfect spot for a fun, fun evening! read more

The only reason it is getting a lower rating is because of our experience with the on site wedding coordinator. We would go for a month or more after emailing without a response and would be afraid of being scammed. So overall, if you don't mind poor communication and love a unique venue, then this place is perfect. My husband and I had been planning a Leap Day elopement for months because we didn't want to deal with the stress of a traditional wedding. Since we went this route, we decided to throw a marriage celebration earlier this month for our family and friends. Because this wasn't the typical wedding reception, we had to find a unique venue and we found it with Paris on Ponce/Le Maison Rouge. We wanted to stay away from the boring, usual venues: country clubs, historic homes, hotel ballrooms, etc. We fell in love with this place instantly and knew we were ready to celebrate our milestone. We had a little over a month to plan our entire party and we couldn't have done it without assistance from Dennis at POP/LMR. Dennis will help you tailor your event to your specific needs. He was very helpful and provided a list of preferred vendors including catering, entertainment and photographers. We were looking for something that would be easy to plan and something that would amaze our guests. And it worked because we had no problems and our guests loved everything. Pros Fun venue Unique decorations - no need to bring in more decorations, we left the tables bare and let the venue shine on its own. Green's is right across the street. They were our booze vendor and told us they're open late if we run out of anything. Luckily, we never had to run across the street for extra beer or wine. Con - only 1 Dennis advised us to have fewer tables out for guests to encourage mingling and dancing. We did this, but we realized we could have taken away more tables for an even bigger dance floor. read more

I've been to a wedding and an office party here, and both were definitely memorable due to the venue. It's a truly unique space that I would definitely recommend to anyone who's looking for something a little offbeat and different than the normal stuffy venue. It's a quirky, Bohemian and trinket filled space that you really have to see to get a feel for. The bar was my favorite feature...probably because I spent the better part of both events refilling my drink there, but that's not the point. The bar has that well worn, antique look that just absolutely fits with the rest of the room. There's lots of room for a large number of guests to gather around it and admire the cool antiques and signs on the wall behind it while they drink. I highly recommend this place for parties. Oh Paris on Ponce. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the BEST wedding ever. OK, technically it was my lovely, patient planning ninja bride who dealt mostly with George, Judi and Shane (owners and manager respectively), but I was there through the walk through, the rehearsals and, oh yeah, the wedding. Shane is a man of infinite patience. He knows how to speak to brides in the calming tones reserved mostly for the suicidal or those strung out on crank. He lays things out clearly, but is willing to work with you on most facets of planning. The contract is clear and easy to read. Nothing hidden, no small print. Now there may be some confusion here. When we first selected Le Moulin Rouge, that was its name. Paris on Ponce (PoP) is in the process of rebranding the space to Le Maison Rouge. I'm not quite sure why, but I have a feeling it was to do with Le Infringement de Copywrite. So keep in mind that I'll still refer to the space as Moulin Rouge and it may still be listed as this in Yelp (until they fix it), but it's now Le Maison Rouge. Rewind: we chose Paris on Ponce's Moulin Rouge (Now Le Maison Rouge) based on a few criteria. 1)Location: it was in the middle of everything we do, especially since we both have a fondness for the Poncey-Highlands. 2)Uniqueness: I've been to weddings at the Fox, Trolley Barn, about 3 at The Park Tavern, but none here. In fact, few people even seem to know about this great space. I swore months ago never to use the phrase "hidden gem," so instead I'll say it's definitely a secluded treasure. A covert jewel. A disguised den of definite radness. 3)Pre-furnished: I pledged early on not to spend money on decorations. It seems like a waste to me. So while I appreciate a good ice sculpture along with everyone else, to see several hundred dollars literally melt before my eyes is something my tightfisted self couldn't deal with. No need to spend money on the crazy/beautiful PoP. Without fail, each new person who walks into the room(s) gasps. (Well, everyone except my mom who found the entire place "confusing," but my mom would find a way to complain in heaven. "All these clouds aren't good for my sinuses, you know.") Not only did we not have to spend a dime on decorations, chairs and tables are also provided. And the tables are nice marble-topped ones so we decided we didn't need to rent linens either. 4)Price: For such a space, the price was relatively inexpensive, especially when we compared it to the other top venues like the Fox or Park Tavern (let alone the Botanical Gardens or the Aquarium.) PoP allows you to bring your own liquor and has a large list (9+ vendors long) of preferred caterers. However, you're not required to choose from that list, though it may cost you a bit extra. 5)Size: For the love of my bank account, the space accommodated my entire wedding, all 165 people worth. (The arrangement we picked, could handle 200.) We didn't really feel crowded, though I wasn't in the room during cocktail hour when our coordinator had everyone corralled in the main room away from the buffet set up. It may have gotten a little intimate in there, but we were busy running around the store taking strange wedding day pictures with all the antiques (which, yes, PoP allowed--actually ENCOURAGED--us to do.) The rest was all in the customer service. Shane was truly easy to work with. When we had to drop boxes of liquor and pallets of beer off, he told us, "Anytime Saturday. It'll be fine." When we needed to pick up the leftovers, "Oh, Sunday afternoon is fine. Don't worry too much." The rehearsal went off without a hitch and he and George and Judi greeted us like old friends whenever we walked in the door. Now that we don't have to worry about having a friend or acquaintance steal PoP out from under us, I'm going to be praising them from le rooftops. Curious about the dining and food options at the venue for events such as Candlelight. I went to their website and the site looks like an Indonesian gambling site. There is nothing to find on the site about the venue. Okay I just checked the FAQs and it reads "no food or beverage permitted", I would assume this mean you cant bring food and drink in SO does the venue offer food and drink at the venue, I cannot tell. The website is not viable enough in offering details. Oh, before I forget, there are reviews about how great the venue is for weddings in the last weeks to a month but nothing further. read more

Had a wedding with 140 people here. For the price, we got sooo much out of it. We didn't do an ounce of decorating cause, hello, the place is already pretty decadent. I visited Le Maison Rouge for a New Year's Eve party this year. The venue is interesting, to say the least. However, I would not recommend hosting an event here unless you enjoy the heavy French baroque feel it provides. I realize it's a little unfair to criticize a place because it has a style that does not match my personal preference. I would like to explain a few of the other issues I encountered in Le Maison Rouge. The main room with the stage has only two single restrooms situated on either side of the bar. They were overwhelmed by demand and had long lines all night. If your capacity is around 200 guests, you should have adequate facilities for them. To get to the main room, we initially went to the logical entrance area at the back of the building. However, a sign said this door was no longer in use and the go through the front door. This led us through the Paris on Ponce antique-style area before finally entering the the main rooms. Why have a logical entrance closed down? Finally, there was a lack of seating given the number of guests at the event. It was impossible to take a break and relax with a drink at a table. I'm not sure if the venue is to blame, or the party organizers, but this was a major annoyance. Overall, I have tried my best to separate my issues with the party I attended with the venue itself. Unless you really want the Moulin Rouge vibe, stay away from this place. I found it to be tacky and over-stimulating, but if that's your thing, enjoy! read more

Very unique event space in a hip, convenient location in the heart of Atlanta. Attended a friend's wedding and reception here. The entrance takes you through Paris on Ponce, which was an added bonus. Great art and a antiques to look at on your trek back to the event room. The art at the entrance to the room is fantastic! Definitely will start your event with all your guests smiling. The inside of the room is posh, dark, drenched in red and velvet. Every nook and cranny has a bobble to look at. The bathrooms are the same way, visual overload but not in a bad way! While the space is very full of collectibles, it was very clean and comfortable. The wait staff was super attentive and went out of their way to make sure everyone was having a good time. This isn't the average reception hall! For anyone looking to throw a party that really lets people relax and have a good time, this is definitely a place to check out. The first time I was here was for a wedding, and it was one of the most fun and memorable I've ever been to. The path to the venue is lit through the antique store, so you might lose a guest or two to the shopping. But once inside, you'll be stunned by the room. There is a built in bar, a stage with a grand piano, lots of cafe tables, tiffany lamps, funky chairs, and the lamps from the ceiling give the place fantastic atmosphere. The staff is incredibly helpful and accommodating, but clarify the different checks and total cost before signing the contract. They have a list of recommended entertainment, caterers, etc. if you need ideas, as well as a valet for those evening events - it is still Ponce, after all. And just think, after your party, those interested guests can wander over to the Clairmont without having to get into a car. read more

Such a great event space. Like none other in Atlanta. I came for a Valentines Day drag show (perfect for the single lady that doesn't want to be reminded by all the lovers out there) and had an amazing time. The drinks were strong, the staff was extremely nice, and the vixens heated up the stage with killer dance routines. There was one drag queen who was way better looking than most women I know- props! There was another one killing it with flips and splits. This is a yearly show so look out for it. All profits go to the Jerusalem House. read more

Having our 30th anniversary party at Le Maison Rouge at Paris on Ponce was the best idea that I have had in many years! We wanted to have a unique location for our all out celebration, and this was perfect. The party mood was set as soon as the guests arrived at the front door. Then the walk through to Le Maison Rouge continues to add to the fun, quirky mood. Dennis was wonderful - answering every silly question I asked, offering ideas and checking in with us as the evening progressed. People are still telling us 2 weeks after the party, how unique and fun the location was.... They can't believe we found this great location. If I could give this place negative stars I would! I have been looking at places to have my wedding reception for the past month and after much debate had choose Paris on Ponce. I loved almost everything about it. Only thing I didn't like was that we couldn't start till 7pm. The spot is nice and held the right amount for my party, but when I went to show my mom the website I noticed that since December when I went to look at it (it was my first place) the price had jumped $800 from $2850 to $3650! I called Paris on Ponce and spoke with a gentleman about this and explained that I had been there less than a month ago to look at the space and the price difference. This guy told me basically I was S.O.L. He said they had been charging $4200 to rent in December and that they had moved the price from $2850 to $3200 and now to $3650. He compaired it to buy a plane ticket and how the price changed all the time. He said that he understood that I was upset about the price change, but basically he didn't care that they had told me a different price and I could take it at this price or go some place else. I feel that this is horrible buisness etiquette! Why would I want to give them my money when they treat me like this. Oh, and on top of the $800 price change I would have to pay another $400 for parking, so what was $2850 would now be $4050! People beware These people are out to just get your money and don't care about you. They just want to sell a "plane ticket!" I would rather spend more money somewhere else than give these rude people a dime. read more

La Maison Rouge is hands down my favorite wedding reception venue to date. Two very close friends publicly shared their vows to be together forever at a nearby church Saturday and afterwards we came here. I valet parked the car and entered into the beautiful crazy strange world of Paris On Ponce. For those of you that are unfamiliar with Paris on Ponce, its a giant antiques store filled with everything you can think of from old timey furniture to mannequin legs wearing fishnet stockings and glittery red platform heels. (excellent to dance with at the party while wearing a sombrero, by the way) Once you wander through the store you enter the doors to La Maison Rouge. As its title says, it is a room that is red. There was ample seating around the stage and dance floor and a small 'balcony' area to the side. My friend chose to have a live band hidden behind the curtain during the cocktail hour and her DJ was up there on the side when the time came to dance the night away wearing ridiculous props from around the room. The photos from the evening are undoubtably different, beautiful, and have lots of smiles. read more

Le Maison Rouge is hands-down one of my favorite places in Atlanta. We had our wedding reception here for 70 guests in December of 2012, and it was an absolute hit with everyone! We wanted a low-maintenance yet memorable space, and LMR was perfect. The vibe is so unique and the decor is fascinating - it's like a scavenger hunt in a 1950's Parisian nightclub - and the bar and stage make it great for parties. Plus, we had zero decorating to do, which appealed to me as we didn't use a wedding planner. I also love the fact that you get to walk through the store to get to the actual space...it's kind of like an adventure on its own, and many of our guests browsed the booths on their way through. Dennis and Skip are both extremely easy and comfortable to work with, and once we booked the space they took care of just about everything. (To make things easier, I suggest going with their recommended vendors.) It might not be the cheapest venue in town, but the experience and ease are certainly worth the investment. We got married at LMR/POP on 1/1/2012 and had a blast! The venue is so unique and entertaining - our guests seemed to really enjoy the ambiance. Dennis spent a lot of time with us, making sure all our requests were covered and that our vision for the celebration came to life on our big day. We went back on our first wedding anniversary and we look forward to going back many more times in the future. It is especially great now that it's on the Beltline. Fun to walk by the venue on the Beltline, stroll through the cool antiques and take a peak into the venue where we exchanged our vows.
