Le Mount Stephen hotel was recommended to us by a friend, and I'm so thankful we chose to stay here. Everything either met or exceeded our expectations! After a long 12.5-hour flight from Tokyo, we were completely exhausted, so having such a quick and seamless check-in with no wait was incredibly appreciated. One of the standout moments was how the team immediately secured us a reservation at their stunning Bar George restaurant on the first floor. We were able to check in, freshen up in our room, and head straight to an amazing dinner without any hassle! Our departure flight the next day wasn't until 5:30 PM, and the hotel accommodated a late checkout at 12 PM, which made a huge difference in allowing us to relax before heading out. I've traveled extensively and am very particular about hotel showers ~ and I can confidently say this was one of the top 2 showers I've ever experienced. The rain-style showerhead had incredible water pressure, which is rare to find. The bathroom overall was exceptional, with plush, fluffy towels and high-quality amenities (e.g., bidet etc). The room itself was beautifully designed and extremely comfortable, featuring cozy beds, blackout drapes, and impressive high-tech touchscreen system that controlled lighting and both day and night drapes. The range of lighting options ~ from soft and ambient to bright ~ was awesome. I would also like to recognize Marc-André, who assisted us with our luggage both days and kindly helped arrange a taxi. His service was professional, and greatly appreciated. This historic hotel (currently undergoing some exterior renovations) truly delivers a luxury experience. Amazing experience here!! I told my fiancé we are going to stay here every single time we come to Montreal, and I never do that with hotels!! the concierge desk was fabulous! They helped me arrange for flowers, for a special champagne, and for an early check-in! The closest thing I can compare it to is probably the plaza in New York City, not so much with regard to aesthetics, but Service! We did not try by george but will absolutely try it next time. It was a stroke of luck that we stayed at Le Mount Stephen. We had reservations at another downtown hotel, but their staff was on strike. Since we already had reservations at Bar George, which is Le Mount Stephen's restaurant/bar, we decided to reserve a room there. The exterior, entrance and restaurant have been kept historic and then you step into the hotel lobby and it is ultra-modern, as are the rooms. We arrived around 2pm and were disappointed that there was not a doorman to help us with our luggage. It was snowing and my husband had to lug two large suitcases up the snowy stairs. After that rocky start, the rest of our visit went smoothly. Since it was well before check-in time, our room was not ready but they held our luggage while we went for bar bites at Bar George. Between the quality of the food/drinks, the atmosphere, and the convenience factor, we ended up there for dinner that night and breakfast in the morning. It was so warm and inviting and the servers and bar staff were very professional and friendly. After our late lunch, our room was ready and the staff had already put our luggage in our room. It was a beautiful, well-appointed room, although it was so high tech that some things took a bit to figure out. There were bottles of water and a chocolate on our night stands, somehow that seemed more personalized than just having water on the dresser. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was large with a fully automated toilet and a large shower with a rainfall shower head. Check out the next morning was a breeze and this time we had a doorman help with our luggage and even stayed with us until our uber arrived to help load the car. We would absolutely stay at Le Mount Stephen again in the future when in Montreal. read more

Housekeeping and turndown service seem to know when to magically appear as the rooms were always cleaned while we were away and turndown service left slippers by the bed and chocolate and water on our nightstands while we were at dinner downstairs after we checked in. Luxurious hotel located in the heart of downtown Montreal. The lobby could have been more opulent but the rooms were slick and very modern; The bathroom had splendid lighting. The bar and restaurants are top notch but as they are opened to the public, it is very hard to get a table as hotel guests.( minus one star for that) and it can become problematic if the weather is bad and you want to stay in. The room prices are not off the chart specially if you book the deals from the leading hotel of the world website ( 4 nights for 3 paid). The staff was courteous and the whole experience enjoyable. There are many fantastic amenities here. Let me start with the option of self parking. I stayed for four nights and made use parking. Do keep your self parking ticket handy as you will need to show this when you return. They do recommend you back into your parking space, to make leaving easier. The garage was narrow, and my small Kia Forte was easy to drive. Centrally located most places I was driving to were twenty to thirty minutes away. Now a tough topic to describe. The "Light controls". When you enter the room at the front door is one of two master light controls. When lights are turned on, there are four levels of lights. First level is "staring straight into the sun", followed by day light, evening, and night light mode. Each time you change modes, the drapes and shades will close, you can use the second control panel to override any settings as required. This unfortunately is a process of trial and error. Above the night stand is a smaller set of light controls of evening and night light, as well as drapes and shades. The night light mode is a set of under the bathroom sink and under the bed lights to prevent you from walking into walls and stubbing your toe. Like I said try it out, then use the control panel to override default settings as required. The shower is a rain shower with colored lights or a shower head with hose. There is a button to have the lights scroll through the color spectrum if you enable the disco mode. The floor is heated so it's never cold to the touch. Then there is the Japanese heated toilet seat with a remote control with many buttons. The art deco windows remind me if a Picasso piece, and you need to move from window to window to see different areas. There is only one window on the wall you can open a crack. The room itself is large and there is a separated side with a desk, closet and storage space for luggage and bags. The staff speaks English and French and easily answered all my questions. A hidden gem I would highly recommend. read more

When I go on travel, it's the time to pamper myself, I save from every paycheck to travel. This is a five-star hotel that absolutely hits every mark of quality. The staff could not be more helpful or friendly, the room, the beds, the linens, are all heaven. The bathroom has a rain shower with changing colors of light. I did not want to leave the shower until the grim reaper came and got me. The Hotel is located downtown so it works well for either business travel or for tourism. There's Metro nearby. There is parking for an additional charge that is either self park or valet. I recommend booking through the hotel website, I got an extremely good rate and discount for staying four nights. If you join the leaders club (free), then for each reservation there is free breakfast for two at Bar George. The cleaning is top-notch and non-obtrusive. Only once during my stay did I see cleaning staff in the hallway, they operate like elves. I don't have enough praise for the staff in the hotel none of them seem to have a bad moment at any time, they were extremely friendly and extremely helpful. I did not use the concierge service but overhearing him work with other clients, I was very impressed. if I travel back to Montreal there is no question this is where I'll stay. read more

Everything about Le Mount Stephen is magnificent. The exterior is from the 1800s when buildings had architectural detail and style. The Great: The bar/restaurant Bar George was lively and over the top on a regular Tuesday evening. And where the hotel really shines is with its employees. The concierge handled a number of items for me quickly, inexpensively and expertly - not something you experience at most hotels. I needed aspirin and a toothbrush and it was sent up immediately. I needed to have a package delivered and it was done within a few hours. And when I mistakenly left my shoes in the room and only realized when I arrived in NYC, the concierge was there to immediately ship the shoes to me. The Less Great: Funny little quibbles - the luxury king room is really spacious but there's so much dead space in the room, get some flair in there! And the bathtub, which is huge and wonderful, can only be controlled from the adjacent shower, so to make it hotter or colder one needs to exit the tub. Room 210 features a huge terrace but no seating area out there. Finally, and somewhat importantly, the hotel was built way before taking into consideration the needs of the elderly or infirm. Thankfully I'm neither of those but when my flight finally arrived a few hours late and I got to the hotel at 1:45am I had to shlep my carryon up the grand steps to enter the building, which can prove difficult if you've got a lot of suitcases or it's snowing or raining (none of this happened to me, just an observation for others). But these are minor details to an otherwise perfect stay. I don't get to Montréal very often but when I do, I've found my home. read more

A historic boutique hotel with luxurious & modern amenities. Work brought me here. I remember being dropped off in front of the building and wondering to myself if I was in the wrong place? Talk about wow factor! They've gone to great lengths to preserve the buildings history which dates back to 1880. When you step inside it feels like you're in a castle. Once you get to the lobby it becomes modern and artsy. Rooms are very modern as well. I stayed in a one of their luxury king rooms offering beautiful city views, a very comfortable bed with soft cream linens. A work desk right next to a series of windows. The bathroom has lighted mirrors, chromotherapy rainforest shower and heated floors. The shower felt like a nightclub in Vegas! You can listen to music & play with lights... The toilet features a remote control that can basically do anything you'd like to your sacred areas. Let's not forget that they also offer a custom pillow menu (upon request) so you can find the perfect pillow that's just right for you. I took advantage of ordering room service for breakfast and really enjoyed my latte & delicious fresh lox 'n bagel in bed of course. Best way to begin any day is by having breakfast in bed in my opinion! One last detail, you definitely want to enjoy a meal or cocktail at their bar called Bar George. read more

My stay at Le Mount Stephen lived up to the expectation. The room was a vibe in itself; so much of a vibe pictures doesn't do it enough Justice (Check TikTok in my bio for video of the room). The location is great as it's close to everything you can think of. The Room Service staff was very accommodating and nice I can't stress that enough. Same for all of the front desk staff and Doormen (Hillary, Nancy, Zachary, Kobe & Claudio). Most definitely will be staying here again & recommending to friends and family. My only complaint is that the Thermostat heat should be able to be raised a bit more as the weather has become a bit different lately (but I understand due to surging energy costs these days). They also do deposit holds on your account of about $1,000 USD; So keep that in mind. Not a big fan of Bar George as it seemed very simple and plain; with little to no Vegan Options besides Avocado Toast. Other than that The Hotel Interior is a sight to see. Uber Around; doesn't seem like much parking in the surrounding area as it's a busy neighborhood but full of things to do and see. read more

This hotel is situated centrally and priced not too steep for 5 star hotel. I loved their lobby lounge and decorations, the only drawback was the size of the room which was really tiny. I appreciated though all the modern features of the room and I especially liked their rain shower with LED lighting system, which you could choose from white, red, blue, and purple maybe. I think the room I stayed, which was a deluxe queen, would be ideal for a single traveler and I recommend to get a little larger room if you're traveling with someone. read more

I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights during a recent trip to Montreal. I was intrigued by the fact this hotel was built adjacent (and connected to) a historic mansion and made the plunge. It was a wise decision. The hotel itself was fabulous, most notably for its 100% splendid service. The staffers were extremely professional, friendly and responded to all requests immediately. We had a key that got demagnetized - problem immediately solved. Our room had a weird rattling sound - problem immediately solved. We needed ice (there are no ice machines here) - it was brought up right away. We needed our car - it was brought out ASAP. That's the kind of service you should expect here. What was most pleasant was that during our stay we actually got to know a lot of the staff and that made it an even more pleasant experience. The room was impressive, except for the fact I opted for the queen bed option. The queen bed room is smaller than the other rooms, but that didn't distract from the comfort of the bed. The only issue to be mindful of is the queen bed room has the bed literally against the window, so there's very little space to walk for the person on that side of the bed. Also the modern-chic look of the hotel means you get a lot of small windows as opposed to big ceiling-to-floor windows .. but at least there were plenty of little windows to go around. The room itself is fully modern and has plenty of smart home amenities. You can easily control the blinds, drapes, lights and temperature of the room via a little panel on the wall. The bathroom was also amazing, with a fully modern bidet/Japanese toilet and a rain shower that comes with even LED light settings. It's actually quite cool and therapeutic. The hotel is connected to an old mansion which is where the restaurant/bar is located at. The food and drinks at Bar George are top notch. I actually enjoyed some of my best meals in Montreal there so it was great that such a good dining option was located right in the hotel itself. This is a truly solid experience and folks looking to stay in Montreal should seriously consider this option. I also like how it's so conveniently located to various notable sights and it's also just two blocks from the Peel street metro station. There are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby as well. We also lucked out since we were so close to the Bell Center that we were able to catch a Depeche Mode concert during one of the nights ad hoc. All in all this is a fabulous hotel that is punctuated by an extremely impressive staff. read more

Was in Montreal on business (checked out of the intercontinental hotel and was at the airport). Weather in chicago etal forced loads of flights to cancel. Mine was last to cancel so I was stuck with out hotel options. With platinum status with Marriott and Starwood and Fairmont - NO hotels within 40 miles of Montreal. Expedia lead me to this property. It's is a leading hotels of the world affiliate. Newly renovated and opened. So it was kinda off the grid. The only options were this pricey unknown and some sketchy hostels and fleabags. Site unseen I bought a night for 500. I was quite pleased. Cabbie had to look hard for it as it's not YET a well known player but it will be. This place has tons of charm, history and hipster vibes. The original building was a private residence in the 1800s and then a men's social club. The addition preserves the old building and most of the charm and elegant wood work and details. The new portion might not appeal to everyone. Very hipster mod and kind of tiny windows and stark lines. The property yanks you back and forth between the 19th century and the 21st century. If your heart is set on grandiose views and balcony this is not it. I found the staff helpful and proud of their new gem of a property. Not sure how the hotel and the hip bar scene mix but I will come back to check it out. Since I was there by accident and had to grab a early flight out I can't comment on the food or beverage service. I did use the gym and it was fine. If you are a fan of architecture the work to integrate this space is amazing. I will post photos. read more

From the moment you heave open the Cathedral heavy front door (which you may have to do if the doorman is understandably sheltering from Montreal's arctic temperatures) you're in another world: wood panelling, stained glass, Gone With The Wind style sweeping staircase, and a bar and a restaurant that screams - quite delightfully - of a bygone era (between 1890 and 1920 at a guess). In Montreal for three days and it wasn't just the -24 degree 'with windchill' that kept me eating and drinking here. I just couldn't see the point in risking an inferior experience outside when it was so warm and pleasant in. Breakfast either in my room or in the cosy dining room was both picture and palate perfect: oatmeal with all manner of delicately dried fruit and nuts and a maple sugar lump, heaped smoked salmon on one of Montreal's famous bagels (soft, tasty and edible as opposed to endlessly chewy like most bagels), with shaved red onion, cream cheese and freshly-cured and sliced capers, hot milk automatically supplied with your coffee... and pleasant, intelligent service; neither groveling nor over-familiar. Lunch: Scallops en croute - some serious yum. Dinner: wild mushroom risotto - creamy beyond belief. The Hotel portion of Le Mount Stephen is a separate but conjoined building. If the public areas are turn of the century before last, the rooms are turn of the week before last: ultra modern, with automated everything - from a toilet whose seat automatically flips open as you come in range, and with a pre-warmed seat and choice of waste evacuation 'style' on a flanking control panel - to various and sundry styles of lighting, heating and window covering status, all under the control of a touch screen mounted on the wall. The bed is plush, the in-room coffee via a fancy little Italian espresso machine, and the shower beautifully lit and perfectly operating. I'll confess I got a great deal on Priceline. If I'd paid normal 5-star prices and/or if this had been in mid summer, I'm not sure my feelings would necessarily have been any different but the feeling of having somehow won the lottery here might be dialed back a little. But no matter, should I be back in Montreal anytime soon, Le Mount Stephen will be my first choice. I'm not sure if this advertises itself as a boutique hotel but it has that feel, albeit slap bang in the center of the financial district and, seemingly, with all the mod cons and facilities one could wish for. HORRIBLE HOTEL/SERVICE Someone Entered our room while we stepped out for supper between 4:30 and 10:30pm. We asked to view the security tapes and they categorically refused. Staff said it was housekeeping but our dirty glasses had been left in the room.They wasted our time for 2hrs saying a manager would come meet us. Never showed up. After 2hrs they sent the bar manager saying they would have to call security if we persisted to see security footage. So we asked for a refund and cleared out our room. Last night, one of the valet parkers reversed into my brother's car while his car was not moving. My brother even honked to warn him that he was behind. However, the valet parker did not even take the time to turn around and reversed full speed into the front of my brother's car. What surprised me the most was that the valet parker did not even take the time to apologize and was rushing to get home since his shift was over. In addition to the rude valet parker, the rest of the staff were very hostile towards my brother as well. When my brother had proposed that he wanted to leave the car at the hotel since it was leaking, they just shooed him off. Over all very disappointed with how the staff handled this situation. read more
