I am especially passionate about promoting and trying my best to help small businesses thrive. Typically, if a small business will not be getting my return business, I would never even think of going to the Internet to possibly dissuade others from giving that business a chance. Never, ever, have I ever wrote a two star review, but I feel very passionate about this and as many of you who are likely reading this review, my dogs are my family and their care and comfort is of the utmost importance to me and I failed them and myself with this one... If this post is too long, the short version is: proceed with caution, look over your pets before you pay and/or leave if you do decide to give this small business a chance. I am so upset with myself for choosing convenience over the gold standard of care my pups had always received across town from a "big name" groomer. I should have walked right out when my instincts told me to when I waited in the entry way that smelled like a cat has marked the entirety of the place for 5 minutes before being greeted by staff. As a non-cat person the smell was offensive and overpowering. "They groom cats... I'm sure that's to be expected" I told myself. When I picked up my dogs I asked how they did and the person who rang me up said, "I can ask." Oh, ok, yeah, please do. The groomer, Pam, came out and gave high praises to my two pups. The "best she worked with all day." No reports of bad behavior, which my dogs have never had bad behavior for any other groomers, vets, sitters, etc., but as a reasonable dog owner, I know that sometimes things don't go as planned And I just wanted to make sure that my dogs were comfortable With their new experience. This Brought me great comfort. There were also no reports of any mishaps. Again, not that I was expecting Any mishaps, but as a reasonable person I can and would understand that accidents can happen with wiggly animals and sharp objects. But again, I was relieved that there was no report Of the sort. When we got home, I noticed a Sizable gouge in my male dogs belly right near his sanitary area. Bleeding was fresh and a skin tear was noted. I kicked myself for not looking him over at the shop And just felt really bad that he endured some sort of pain But was also a little upset that I wasn't told About it. I didn't call and question them because seeing as how I spoke with the groomer before I left, I could just see this turning into an argument that really didn't need to happen. They can't UNcut him... At this point, I am at fault for neglecting to look over my animals before I left and taking the word of the professional behind the counter. I noticed a couple days later on my female pup a large gash near her "underarm" (pardon me, I don't know canine anatomy). This was old enough to not be bleeding but new enough to still have an open wound bed. Again, too late to bring anything up to the groomer, but given the "clean cut" and wound age it clearly happened during grooming. Both of these instances would have been forgivable had they just been honest with me. Things happen, just be transparent. I am reasonable. I'm giving two stars because A) at least one star is required to review and B) I appreciate the discount for bringing in more than one animal. Also, over the phone and in person, the staff was all pleasant to talk to and they claim to have an outdoor area for the dogs to stretch their legs and relieve themselves in the event that their owners can't pick them up as soon as they're ready to go. But yes, they were extremely pleasant when omitting part of the truth of my dogs stay with them. read more

Pam and her staff are absolutely compassionate , caring and provide such amazing service. My problem child, Shih Tzu, Louie can be a handful, however they always manage to make him look absolutely fabulous. The services are provided professionally and I'm always pleased with the care and quality of his cuts. When I pick Louis up, Pam always provides me with a little report card. Louie know that if he behaves he gets to pick a stuffed animal off the wall. He also gets a cute bandanna of the month and to go treats which he loves. read more

Took my yorkie first timer here and when making appointment we let them know she is very grumpy and can get aggressive at times with strangers. A lady called us to let us know to pick her up and then got a separate call from groomer telling us my dog was a danger, awful and aggressive. Kept scaring me that if she would've biten she would have to report to police and have her pounded and that they could have her put down said a lot of things making me feel awful. When I got there to pick her up my dog looked very scared I hope they didn't miss treat her!!! I made an appointment for my Shih Tzu at 10 AM and I they called me to at 5 PM to pick her up. When I went to pick her up, I asked them why it took so long and their answer was that they groom in an assembly line. which I understand but if I am making an appointment at 10 AM I believed that my dog would be groomed at 10 AM not "whenever they get to her". I wish the scheduling was more consistent. I don't like that she was at the groomers for six hours. My expense at Le Paws was far from professional. In short -- I will not bring my dog back here. I'm visiting from Atlanta and prior too my visit, I contacted the company through the email listed on the website. I never received a response and had to call to obtain information. I spoke with the owner (Paula -- but I found the business registered to Deborah Gordon). I asked if she received my email and she stated that she wasn't sure and had me forward my original email to her personal email. For timing she mentioned to me that if I brought him tomorrow (Thursday) that it would be about 2-3 hours, but that on the weekends my dog may be there for 5-6 hours. She mentioned that she would print the pictures and give them to the groomer. I mentioned to her over the phone those where photos from his grooming in Boston. DROPPING OFF BENJI: I showed up to drop off my Teacup Yorkie (Benji) at 10:30AM. The lady at the front had me fill out a little blue card with my information and the information of my dog. I attempted to show her the rabies certificate and she instructed me to write "current" on the vaccination line. I then told her "do I show you his rabies paper I have it here". She replied "no you just wrote it was current". I found this odd as all others grooms I have taken my Benji to asks to see the certificate and for it to be current. I then asked what the price would be and the lady said 40-45. She then asked me how I wanted to have him groomed. "How much should be taken off of his head, chin, body?" I found this odd as I had sent pictures. I told her I sent pictures and she said "oh the owner will bring them in." I left there and was expecting to receive a call within 2-3 hours. I called once 3 hours was done to check on him. The lady mentioned that Benji had just finished his bath. He was waiting in line to be dried and then groomed. Around 3:30 I called to check on him and they said he should be done in about 30 minutes. Side note -- all of the groomers I have taken my dog too have called once they are done. This groomer didn't. I called around 4:00 to check and was rudely told "yes we said about 30 minutes... he's ready" Benji was there from 10:30AM-4PM. He was there for a total of 5 and a half hours!! I arrived and was told the total was 50.88 I had to pay first before seeing my dog. I was in shock to see my dogs hair and had been cut extremely short and no where close to the pictures sent. His eyes still had tear stains. I know dogs get tear stains but every groomer has been able to clean and remove them -- except this one. I had an appointment at 5PM and was unable to discuss my concerns. So my plan was to examine him further at home and then speak with the owner the next day. His hair was not cut anywhere near the photos I provided. The following day I return to the salon to speak with the owner. I called prior to insure that she was in the store. She told me "I heard you were super ecstatic about the way your dog came out" this was definitely not my reaction. I then proceeded to ask her how my dog did. She said he was very troublesome. Let me mention this my dog is all of 5 pounds -- a teacup Yorkie. She mentioned to me that it took two people to hold down my dog and then for the groomer to do the work. That means a total of three people to groom my dog two of them holding down my dog. That's ridiculous!! As I went into talk to the owner I could immediately see her facial expression - she was not happy to see me. She asked me what I was unhappy with and so I stated to her the grooming was done incorrectly, as well as the timing. I specifically mentioned to her that I had given her photos. She responded to me with a very authoritative voice and you could definitely hear the attitude in her voice as well. This should not be something the owner of a company should do to make customers happy. She then told me that "it's just hair... it will grow back". This statement is true. However, you take your dogs to the groomer to have them cut and styled correctly and professionally. I also brought up the difference in price and she mentioned to me that it was taxes. This is total BS anywhere from $40-$45 dollars does not total to what I even paid with taxes. This was far from a professional experience ... no refund was offered or even a partial refund. Hopefully this review helps others considering this location NOT to take their dogs there. They do not uphold their word as a company and do not treat your dog with respect. Once "home", My Yorkie came home so thirsty he ran to the water bowl. This business model seems to be quantity not quailing. Apparently they don't care how their guests are treated -- as long as they can get as many dogs in the door as possible. read more

I have been taking my border collies and aussie here for many years. However on this last visit when I went to pick up my dog, the lady at the fro t desk said I needed to speak with the owner. I asked how much the cost was before my dog was ready and the front clerk looked at the groomer and asked how much of a discount to apply. The groomer then said "full price". I could here my dog yelping. Then the groomer proceeded to tell me my dogs nail was cracked. And it would fall off. Now I know that happened there because she didnt go in that way. The place is dirty and has a smoke smell that lingers. Also my dog seems to be really excited to get out when I pick her up. Bloody Weenie. Look at google reviews. They cut dogs a lot and claim accident. Probably an untrained otherwise unemployable unprofessional that has to do this work. I Took two 4 month old puppies to this groomer. it smelled heavily like cigarettes but after calling every groomer in NW San Antonio, they were the only ones that had availability on such a short notice. I now know why. When I picked my dogs up, the groomer (assume owner) came running from the back to tell me that I need to blow dry my dogs after I bathe them at home because that would help them get used to being groomed. I thought the level of urgency and panic that she approached us with was odd. In any case, we paid and left but the dogs were extremely anxious. I thought it was first time groomer jitters. On my way home, the male wouldn't leave my lap and kept wincing and trying to get in my face. When I arrived home, I noticed my shirt was covered in blood. I called the groomer and she said it was probably toe nails. I checked both of their paws but no blood. The male has white paws so it was clear it wasn't him. I began to look them over to see if I could find the cut. It turned out to be coming from the penile sheath on the male. Interestingly, the fur wasn't clipped short there. I asked her what could have happened and she suggested a urinary track infection. I emphatically disputed that possibility. I thought she may have clipped the skin when she was cutting around it but I couldn't see any cuts and the fur around that area wasn't clipped close to the skin. I medicated it and watched him. Later that evening, He was sitting and his penis peeled out of the sheath. It had a cut about a 1/4 inch from tip. She says he didn't make a sound but I just don't see this as a possibility. I actually think he was showing off while on the grooming table and she tapped it to retract and it was cut. I don't see any other explanation. I don't understand any reason for the clippers to go near that part of his anatomy. She will not respond to the vetranerian invoice. She says puppies are hard to groom which even though I'm not in the business, I wouldn't disagree with that. But I don't see any reason for the clippers to go close to that area for one. I don't understand how she didn't notice. She obviously made a mistake and I'm sure he screamed. Apologize and make it right. The suggestion that it was a UTI was absurd. Finally, I have a vet bill and a ruined blood stained shirt. I shouldn't be charged for the sloppy grooming jobs alone but at least Make it right by responding to my vet bill and ruined shirt. read more

After they took my payment is when the girl working the cash register said the groomer wanted to talk to me. She came out very defensive, claimed it was because she pushed him too hard. You couldn't even touch him when we brought him home for 2 weeks because he would whimper in pain. He was depressed and not his usual playful self. My Marble started going when he was 6 weeks old. Kelly was his favorite groomer. Marble went there for 13 years, and has since passed. Petunia has been going there since she was 9 weeks old and still goes there. She is 8. Lola has been going there for her full 3 years. This place has been awesome to my Shihtzu's and they treat my babies wonderfully... They always listen to instructions on how I want the hair and if it isn't correct when I pick up they take them back and fix it. They give a multi dog discount, a bag of cookies, a bandana and will spray perfume (I always request for no perfume). Sometimes if it is a new person at the front check in can be slow to check in but that's understandable. My babies have been going there for so long they know the routine and what has to be done. Pam and Kelly are great and my shihtzus love them and always look nice. My brothers shihtzu goes there as well and looks handsome even if he is grouchy when he gets groomed. read more

Our Dotty just had her beauty shop appointment at Le Paws. We've been taking her there for about 3 years. She is a Maltee-Poo and has cysts all over her body, and as all Maltese, only one coat of hair. Very sensitive skin. They take their time with her, and do an excellent job. I do like it when there are 2 people there. It's best to make an appointment, instead of a walk-in. We used to live near Babcock, but moved further away, and we still take her to Le Paws. Most recently we were very disappointed with the job done by the owner of a shop near us, so we decided to try Le Paws on a friend's recommendation. After the grooming, our three dogs -- a yorkie, a soft-coated wheaten and an Airedale -- never looked better. The bottom line: Le Paws did the best job of any shop we've been to, and they were no more expensive than anybody else. DO NOT take your pets to Le Paws! I was a first timer and asked for a full service package and was left very upset! After picking up my dog from this groomer I noticed that he had two obviously large ticks on him! I called and left a brief message about the service and was not contacted until late the next afternoon. The owner asked if I could bring my dog in so that the ticks can be removed to which I replied that I had already removed the ticks, she was oddly stunned that I removed them. She then said there was nothing she could do about the ticks. The owner stated she was going to "make things right" and offered a complimentary bath when he was "due". I bathed my dog after this conversation and found about 6 more fleas on him!! Personally, I don't even think they gave my dog a flea bath!! I will NEVER bring my pets here ever again. Just a word or 2 of warning! Do not take your dog here! A good friend and former employee told me that a couple of the groomers including the owner beat the dogs if they are at all difficult. They hit them no matter if they are really old or blind, puppies, even dogs that are muzzled. Be sure that if you are aware your dog can be difficult then your dog has been abused. She also said it was very filthy. Also they charge customers for special shampoos but all the dogs get bathed with the same stuff. And cats don't get bathed at all but customers get charged. That's bad enough but for them to hit the dogs, it is sickening. They shouldn't even get a star. read more
