I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is, from Julie at the front who kept me informed about possible openings for our grooming to Mong the groomer everyone was super sweet. When we picked up our doggie he was happy and beautiful.

My cavapoo and I come to Le Pet Spa every month and a half or so, and we always get amazing service! The owner Judy is very responsive and kind, and keeps meticulous notes on how you prefer your pet to be trimmed. The prices are fair and they don't nickel and dime you for each thing (like how Biscuits & Bath charges extra for teeth brushing, gland expression, nails, etc.). It's so lovely being able to have your dog with this team for a few hours and not worry about how they're being treated and their safety. I'm so glad I found this place for my boy and I hope to be coming here for many years to come

I believe in supporting local businesses and they've been in BPC longer than I have (1993 for me). I've gone there immediately after getting a rescue dog on two separate occasions. They're very helpful and kind. The owner gifted my little Chi Coco a bone she loves to chew on in her crate and he adjusted and put her harness on for me. Love these guys!

They do an incredible job here! We brought our puppy in for her first haircut and I'm so impressed with the way it turned out! The people who work here are incredibly nice and really do groom your pet the way you want. The price is a bit expensive but I think it's totally worth it because they really do a full range of grooming. Not only did they wash and cut her hair but also cleaned her eyes, ears, and butt and also cut her nails. Tot came back super fluffy and soft and smelled terrific and the way her hair has grown out is perfect. She also didn't seem too shaken up (she usually despises baths) so they are clearly very good with your pets. We will definitely be coming back and if you haven't tried them out, you definitely should!

Happened to just be walking by in my new neighborhood and found this place open and walked in for two dog trims. My dogs squeal and cry and whine and wiggle like no other whenever I try to trim their nails at home, yet they came in and out of here quickly and quietly. The Groomers were professional and sweet to my dogs who did not love being there. Definitely will be coming back.

These guys are the best! Our dog Simba isn't the easiest to work with and sure does not like bath time but every time he walks out of le pet spa he looks like a million bucks and is so happy! I live nearby & was looking for a groomer & decided to try it because of the great reviews. so glad i did!! they were accommodating with scheduling & when i asked them to call me if they had an opening sooner than my appt, they did! they made sure to listen when i gave instructions of how i like his hair & even called me to double check when they realized i forgot to mention his tail. i know he is not an easy boy to work on but they said he did great & he came out calm & happy with the best haircut ive seen!!!! will definitely be back.

Absolutely loved our experience with Le Pet Spa!! Judy was so kind and helpful. I live in another state, but needed to coordinate Brooklyn's grooming. They were very helpful getting her vaccine records from our vet in NC, coordinating with me and my family, and took wonderful care of her! Her cut looks great and three days later, she still smells so good! Super reasonable price for the TLC they gave our pup! Definitely going back!

My new go to groomer for our lil fur baby! We just moved to NYC from LA and searching for groomers was not easy. When searching for NYC groomers, 9/10 places looked ridiculous (sorry NYC). Prior to coming to Le Pet Spa we took a risk on another groomer last month. It. Was. Horrible. So we were so scared to try another place and luckily Le Pet Spa is THE ONE. 1) the haircut itself is wonderful. 2) Judy and Phil are amazing people. I can see why they have been around for 28 years!

I've never taken my cats to a groomer so I was a little nervous. Both of my cats are Persians, and they do need to be brushed out quite a bit. Neither of them love being combed or brushed, but Mila in particular is really not into it. She started getting a little knotty when I went away on vacation for a week in February and my mom and sister didn't remember to comb them. For one reason or another, over a month later, it became impossible to comb out the big knots that had matted. I knew it was uncomfortable for her since the fur tugs on the skin when it's in that condition. So I started just cutting them out. I didn't care it looked like I had butchered her, I just wanted her to be comfortable... I realized I could not do this by myself and there were too many knots for me to get out myself since she won't sit still for more than a minute when I try to comb her. The reviews looked solid, and it's pretty close to where I live. I dropped her off at 10:30 and came back 2 hours later when they had finished. Everyone who worked there was nice, and Mila was completely fine. There were horror stories in reviews for other places about how the owner suspected a sedative had been used. Or one review was about how this guy witnessed the groomers slamming the dog around in the sink because it kept trying to jump out. I was told Mila was actually good and easy going. I think she looks so cute and funny. Not sure how she feels but I needed to be done. I'm really happy about how she was taken care of as well as how I was treated. I definitely recommend this place to anyone with a cat or dog.

New to downtown I was looking for a good dog grooming place, and wow am I happy I went with the reviews for Le Pet Spa. They truly do deserve all 5 stars. I felt comfortable the second I walked through the door as I was greeted by Judy (who is probably the warmest woman in all of NYC). She asked specifics in regards to grooming, and if there were any special conditions they should know. We then walked to the back where she kindly introduced me to the groomers who were all full of smiles. We went over the details (with I believe his name is Kwan) and I handed her over. When I came to pick her up she came out wagging her tail looking absolutely fabulous! What a fantastic job they did! We will be returning here on a regular basis, and not just for grooming but for everything. Le Pet Spa is full of the most friendliest, helpful, knowledgeable staff. I highly recommend.

Very friendly staff and they did an awesome job with Nigel and Spencer's grooming. The prices are comparable to prices for grooming in Manhattan so I wasn't really expecting a bargain or anything, but they did an outstanding job on their hair and I couldn't have been happier. They also provide free delivery so I have ordered the big 25lb bag of dog food from them and other trinkets delivered as well. They do it same day. Good deal. Their prices on dog food and other items (even though they say they can even be cheaper than Petco) are a little bit more expensive than they are in other parts of town but for the convenience, I think it's worth it. If I am walking the dogs and happen to feel that the boys need a treat or a new toy, I just pop right in and we are greeted by the cute (and large) house dog. The boys just love it there. For my pets' needs, this is now my one-stop shop!

Wonderful, skilled, and kind groomer. I adopted a 10 month old shih tzu mix from a family that could not care for him anymore. His ears were severely matted to the point they could not even lay flat against his head because there was so much hair tangled and overgrown. His hind quarters were the same way with patches of matting throughout. They took him in one day after I tried to get an appt. They apologized for not being able to take him right away since they were completely booked before the holiday. Max came out looking 5 pounds lighter without all that hair. They did a wonderful job shaving him down, but not too close that you can still see his beautiful patterned coat. They also left a nice poof at the end of his tail. Max seemed happy and not traumatized or in pain at all after the experience. Prices are average for Manhattan. The shop is very convenient to where I live and their care won me over. I bought a 5 package deal on the spot (slight discount) to keep Max looking like a happy, healthy, fellow.

I cannot recommend Le Pet Spa highly enough. I was a customer for many years and they always took great care of my little guy. He always got great baths from them. They had lots of good advice for my various dog needs. They were particularly wonderful, so helpful and supportive, in his final months. Their kindness and love made a difficult time easier for me. read more

It's so apparent how much everyone here loves animals, which makes us (our pup included) love them! We took our very timid schnoodle puppy here for his first grooming appointment. We were nervous about how he would handle it, and nervous about what he would look like post-grooming. We picked him up and all our fears were allayed. They did a fabulous job on the cut, and our "timid" puppy was ready to move in! A few weeks later we took a walk and went by the store and he couldn't wait to get inside. Judy and the owner (whose name I didn't catch) were there and they were both so sweet to Woodhouse - it made my and my husband's day. We will be stopping by frequently and we can't wait for his next grooming appointment! read more

I really wanted to love this place but after a year of disappointing haircuts, I'm finally calling it quits. A few months ago they shaved my Pomeranian which was devastating knowing there was a 50/50 chance her hair wouldn't grow back. Luckily it did, so I decided to give them another chance, especially because the owner was extremely apologetic and is always super kind. I took her back today making sure I booked the same groomer who did a wonderful job the last time. Unfortunately they cut her WAY too short again, even with an updated, very detailed instruction card. Point is, they are VERY inconsistent and you never know what you're going to get. If you have a double coated dog with a really nice coat, I implore you to go else where. It's just not worth the risk for the 1/3 good haircuts you get on rotation. read more

After trying several different groomers in the city, this has to be the best one. They have consistently done a great job grooming our golden retriever. He needs to have his ears, back feathers and paws trimmed, and no one else has been able to give him a proper haircut. The staff here is incredibly friendly and have excellent customer service. read more

This updated review may be a little redundant, however, I would just again like to thank Le Pet Spa for yet another incredible grooming. The estimated wait time ended up being hours longer than they quoted, which admittedly was a bit of a hassle to our day. But they made up for it by a personal call from the owner the next morning and an extended discount as an apology. Honestly I think this is what true "service" is: small business owners will always face challenges but if you can own up to them and offer a way for your customers to return... They probably will. Kudos again to Le Pet Spa. read more

Le Pet Spa deserves all 5 stars! I recently moved to NYC and after doing a bit of research, I decided to take my 10 year old Morkie here for a grooming appointment. From the woman I spoke to on the phone to schedule to appointment, to the groomer and the woman at the front desk; they are all wonderful, helpful, friendly people. They were thorough and I could tell they genuinely cared about my dog, so I felt completely comfortable leaving her in their care. Best of all, her grooming was a total success! She looks fantastic and I am not sure what they shampooed her with, but she has never felt softer ! I can't say enough nice things about Le Pet Spa! I would recommend them to anyone. read more

Best pet shop and groomer in NYC! Audi (not sure how to write his name) is an amazing groomer, he is very talented and kind with Lulu our pom mix. Her looks are amazing thanks to him! I have a new Havanese puppy and had to wait until she had all her shots to get her groomed. I attempted to brush her, she cried and ran into her crate to hide. Someone had groomed her roughly. La Pet Spa listened to my issues and were very accommodating. When I brought Lily in they were very loving and we discussed how to groom her, she very matted. She was done in under 2 hrs and looked fantastic. When I got her home, she allowed me to brush her. I highly recommend Le Pet Spa. read more

I never ever review anything but after the wonderful experience I had today at Le Pet Spa, I feel not only obligated but honored to write about my experience. Our beloved MinPin was in need of a manicure and our normal groomer was closed. It was late in the afternoon and we called numerous places online and thank God we found Le Pet. Not only did they stay later until we arrived, they went out of their way to greet us outside and make sure we were able to find the store! And what a greeting it was! Instantly, all the staff showered our pup with hellos and compliments as if he was a superstar. He's normally very nervous when undergoing any type of grooming, however, the team at Le Pet was so kind and welcoming that he felt right at home. Most importantly the work that was done on his nails was hands down the best I've ever seen done. To say I was impressed is an understatement. We're beyond grateful! To know that there are places that care so much about their customers and genuinely treat the animals with such love and care is so relieving. And they have such a great selection of treats and toys. My rescue yorkie needed a nice grooming session so badly and we are so happy that we chose Le Pet Spa! The owner was able to accommodate my super last minute appointment on same day!!!!! She was kind, courteous and explained everything thoroughly. I couldn't be happier with the end result!!!!! My yorkie looks so nice and clean after being groomed at Le Pet Spa!!!!! So happy with the cut! My toy poodle recently moved from Tokyo and I was really worried about not finding a salon that was just as good as the ones there. But wow! I love le pet spa! I'm very selective on where I go for grooming when it comes to my toy poodle and these guys are amazing. I have zero complaints- they always do a phenomenal job. Judy is incredibly friendly and accommodating. My little guy will be coming here always :) read more

Amazing job with my golden retriever's haircut! Her cut is even all over and exactly the way I asked for it. It's not always easy finding a place that does such a good job on long haired dogs but Le Pet Spa was perfect. I would rather pay more for better service so the price was very fair and job was done in 2 hours. Thank you! read more

Le Pet Spa is a fabulous little pet shop/groomer. I live right across the street but I would still come here even if I moved uptown. The staff here is probably about as nice and professional as you can get. I bring my very picky and fresh 15.5 year old dog/love of my life here. The ladies here really care about your pet here and that is worth its weight in gold (for me at least). Prices are about what you would expect for the city and fair. In addition to great grooming, they have food & treats. I will be a loyal Customer for as long as they are open. read more

I have a difficult senior dog to groom (rescue/deaf/blurry vision/frightened). Our past few groomers have "broken up" with us. Le pet spa has been patient and kind and have taken great care of my dog! They have done a fantastic cut and clean on her since we've started going and I whole heartedly recommend them to everyone. They listen to what she needs, and what scares her, and do everything they can to make a successful visit for everyone. They always let her leave looking fantastic. 10/10! read more

I went to Le Pet Spa right after an appointment at Downtown Vet. My girlfriend and I had just found out that our cat, Bones, has leukemia and likely would not make it. Bobby, the owner, helped us find treats that Bones might eat since he had not been interested in his normal food for the last few days. When Bobby found out why we were looking for something tasty, he picked one, and insisted that it was on him. My girlfriend was so touched she almost started crying. Needless to say, such a classy move has won Le Pet Spa a customer for life. read more

Great haircut for my puppy! They were so patient with my overly excited pupper and she wasn't unhappy or scared after the cut. She also came out looking gorgeous! The price is on the higher side of what we were used to, but it was money well-spent. Highly recommend if you want to give your fur-baby a good groom! read more

We just moved in Battery place from Boston, can't image we could find a such wonderful place for pets grooming. Since in Boston, we couldn't find any good place for our Poodle hair cut... We like the new look of our poodle. Can u image we just left it in Le Pet Spa, finished a movie in Battery Regal, then his new look surprised me... The owner is very nice, we got a 5 times coupon with the first time free... Which is worthwhile than the other chain pet store....Highly recommend read more

I usually submit an appointment request through their website, and they're pretty good at getting back to you fairly quickly. Once the appointment is confirmed, they send you a reminder text the day before and request any updates to your pet's vaccination records. This past Saturday, I dropped off my cat at 9:30 AM (was given the choice of dropping off between 8:30 AM and 11 AM). I was told that he would be done in 2 to 4 hours, but they would text me once he was finished. I received a text around 12:50 PM that he would be ready for pickup in 10 minutes. I paid in cash ($142.08). This has been the routine for the past 12 years, and I have been very happy with how the lion cut turns out every time. Everyone there is nice, and they always tell me that my cat is a sweetheart. We look forward to seeing them next year.

Molly has had standing appointments every month, but they're not always followed up, and sometimes, I don't even know when her appointments are. I had expressed my concerns with Laura in the past. Last month, I was supposed to go away on vacation. We had already booked Molly's appointment before my vacation, so I wasn't concerned about it. I asked her for a status update on the day of, and she told me that she had moved her appointment date, and "sorry I didn't update." She didn't even ASK ME if this schedule change was okay to begin with! What the hell? Who is she to just move things around without asking me? When I expressed my frustration at the time, she gave me a very curt/dismissive reply. I called her out on it, then she blamed texting as the reason why it came off that way. Then guess what: work on your texting/communication skills, if that's the way you choose to communicate with your clients. Not to mention that whoever is helping her run the business side of things (Tammy) has been super rude. She even tried to get me to RETROACTIVELY sign a fuel surcharge document for the prior month, when this had never been discussed with me. All of her responses (via text) are super curt, dismissive, and rude. That air of superiority does not work for me. All of the negative reviews about the customer service are accurate. Things were so bad at that time that I texted Laura and said that while I've appreciated everything she had done for Molly, we were going to have to part ways. She and I discussed it, and I was convinced to stay with her. She told me about what she had been struggling with, and I was compassionate to her situation. Things got better for a bit, but not for long. That's the key issue with this place: there is a lack of consistency. Things look "better" for a bit and then drop back into the abyss. Today was the straw that broke the camel's back. Her truck needed servicing. I understand that those types of things are not predictable. Of course I would be understanding of this, but each month comes with some sort of issue. It's hard to consider this a "one off" when it happens more frequently than not. I expressed my frustration and she said she's apologized in the past. I told her that this is causing me anxiety each month. Getting my dog groomed, when her schedule is already booked, should not be this stressful. Her reply: "It is unfortunate that you feel that way. The only anxiety I had today was that I could get my truck repaired in time to not let my people down, and that it wasn't a giant bill. It is my hope that you feel better." It was clear from her response that she has no empathy for others, despite being someone who's used her own mental health issues as an excuse for her past transgressions. "The only anxiety that I had today..." part basically makes it seem like she's diminishing my feelings about being dismissed nearly on a MONTHLY BASIS. So apparently, it's only about herself. By her saying "it is unfortunate that you feel that way," it was clear that this is over and that this is completely irreparable. She takes zero ownership and had no insight into the fact that it's not just about today -- everything is additive and I have not seen things go smoothly for a long time. Apologies can only go so far. She also told me: "I agree that it would be nice if things always ran smoothly all the time, but sometimes we just have to roll with it." There's been a lot of back and forth for many years, a lot of schedule changes, a lot of Molly getting dropped from the schedule, lack of communication, etc. I had been loyal through all of it. I've BEEN rolling with it. Yes, of course it would be nice of your clients to be flexible from time to time... but it shouldn't be all the time. The tone of that also feels like she's asking ME to shoulder HER burden. Unfortunately, it is just time to part ways. They seem to charge a missed appointment fee if cancelling less than 48 hours in advance, and whole amount for no call, no show. Apparently, respect or this policy isn't a two way street. If you notice from other reviews, she's lost several loyal clients due to rudeness and lack of reliability. One of the other reviews says that they cancelled him 30 minutes prior to the appointment, using COVID as an excuse - and one of the groomers gave him a snarky reply: "I'm sorry this how you are reacting due to being rescheduled during a National crisis." It's these types of unwarranted, inappropriate, snarky remarks that I've gotten so used to from some of their people. This is clearly the norm of how they speak to people, which it shouldn't be. Perhaps she should spend more time on her business and less on her chickens.

AVOID. They critically injured our dog and refuse to admit any wrongdoing or take responsibility. Our dog is on cage rest for a month, plus pain meds with potentially dangerous side effects, while we hope he can avoid surgery to restore a slipped disc that happened during grooming. Yes: during grooming. Vet says his injury is consistent with having been dropped. Owner denies all, gaslights me and our vet, then tried to intimidate and threaten us both. When I first brought our dog's injury to the store manager's attention, she suggested perhaps groomers "went too close to his privates", making him uncomfortable. Then suggested we cone him overnight. Apparently no one would own up to dropping him - shocker. It was hard to stay patient with this, but I tried. I made it clear I wasn't looking to blame anyone, just needed to know what happened SO I COULD TAKE CARE OF HIM properly. They had no interest. After multiple communications back and forth, and 2 entire days spent at the vet, our poor sweet dog meanwhile enduring a severe allergic reaction to the first meds attempted - it was relayed to us (again through the store manager) that the owner demands to speak to our vet. Odd, but our vet graciously took time out of her busy day to speak with him. She relayed our dog's injuries were consistent with having been dropped. Owner then reinvented their conversation as: (our) vet told him I was clearly just looking for money from the shop and had also made an angry scene at the vet's office. Which is hilarious, as I was not and did not. Plus there's zero reason for the vet to say this. Troublingly, this is also extreme racial stereotyping I don't appreciate, or expect from an NYC business. Vet verifies this convo never happened. Owner then accused us both, me AND the vet, of slander (because we didn't validate what he made up) and threatened legal action. Reminder, our dog still hurt all this while. Which is the REAL issue. Would have been far simpler to address our dog's injury, rather than continue to deflect and attack. So the owner made up a story he liked better than the truth, called the vet and me liars for not corroborating it, then threatened me us both for "slandering" him to his employees, adding "HOW DARE YOU". Insanity. Awkward. And absurd. (he wasn't even handling this himself for days, but having his store manager go back and forth for him while he was cc'ed on emails about it doing nothing. I was then in the awkward position of having to relay back to his store manager, what he told her was not actually the conversation he had with my vet, as vet will verify.) Bottom line: Our dog was severely injured in his care. Having the vet speak to him - at his request!- and verify injuries is not slander. Telling the truth is not slander. Finally, refusing to accept an alternate version of what happened, that actually did not happen, is not slander. This is the USA. We do still live in a democracy. And while it's clear this man has issues, he can't intimidate me into silence - though tried. What's upsetting beyond belief is our dog was harmed and mishandled, and now is in physical pain with day to day activities severely curtailed. Our dog is the one who suffered, but the owner acts as though the harm is to him. The shop could have handled this any manner of ways, but chose to try and turn this into a soap opera, accusing us of everything in the book, calling the vet and me liars, threatening legal action, and etc. Unprofessional in the extreme, frankly bizarre and overall disappointing just as a human being. We were longstanding customers with a record of happiness at this establishment. That is obviously no more. We approached the issue saying "hey, something happened in this grooming, not trying to get anyone in trouble but please let us know what it was, so we can tell the vet and get our baby cared for properly." How it mushroomed into this level of Crazy is staggering. They cling to saying our dog was fine, based on him wagging his tail when he saw me, when I came to get him. DUH. He's a dog. Of course he wagged. (He also wagged his tail at the vet, despite being in incredible pain with a slipped disc grooming caused- he wagged his tail at the vet while continuously whimpering, plus shrieking when she touched the disc.) Our concern is our dog be able to walk, run, jump and play again. It has been heartbreaking to see him endure weeks of crying, shaking pain. We also hope this does not happen to any other dog in Manhattan. Please beware. Incidentally: the owner, for all his screaming about money, did not cover a penny of our emergency vet bills, pain meds, or even refund the paltry grooming fee that he originally promised he would - (then went back on his promise when we didn't verify alternate "facts" his staff relayed). Instead he chose tirades with racist, sexist, paranoid, imaginary motives. In 2023. In New York City. Unbelievably bad business. read more

This review is a long time in coming, only because I wanted it to be 100% correct, factual and have evidence to back it up. Reviewer Sam Harrison in this thread of reviews gave me the evidence I very much needed to back this up. While I think it's great that this establishment has nearly all good reviews that just didn't make sense to me, something the Le Pet Spa manager used to thrive on spitting at me when I had the unfortunate luck to work for her. No company or place of business has all good reviews, and now, thanks to Mr. Harrison, neither does Le Pet Spa. As stated, I used to work for the woman who is the manager of Le Pet Spa, and when I did work for her she was an absolute tyrant, a total sadist, and a manager who led with 100% intimidation of the employees that reported to her. When I learned that she had gone to work as the manager of Le Pet Spa, I became instantly concerned for any dogs or cats that were brought there for the services the establishment offers. If this woman was sadistically cruel to the employees who reported to her, me included, I TRULY had to wonder how she would treat animals. Mr. Sam Harrison claiming that it's more stressful for your pet if she is there and that it's better to bring your pet there when she's not there raised a definite red flag for me, AND it proved my theory was correct. In the age of #MeToo, Times Up and as a survivor of this woman's workplace abuses I feel it's my duty to post this. I also wonder if she treats her employees at Le Pet Spa the way she did at the company where I worked for her, AND, if like employees at her former company, they are afraid to come forward. I am not accusing this woman of sexual harassment, but, workplace abuse is workplace abuse and she is guilty of workplace abuse like no one's business. In fact, the abuse she meted out on me and others in the workplace was, as I have come to call it, off the Richter scale, it was beyond brutal. Beware!! I also watched as various co-workers of mine walked off the job because of the way this woman treated them in such monstrous fashions. As a published author of 2 books on the subject of bullying, I will NEVER stop calling out abuse where I see it...as everyone should do as well, if they are being abused in the workplace, or, even if they are a witness to a fellow employee being abused. AND, if there is retaliation from upper management against the employee reporting the abuse or the bystander reporting the abuse, well, know this now, retaliation is completely ILLEGAL. A review by a customer of Le Pet Spa, Renee Dg is worth reading. Where this customer mentions gaslighting, that is what Judy Passer was notorious for when she was my boss at the jewelry company. This woman is no one to do business with. She will lie, manipulate and gaslight her customers every step of the way. Lastly, when she was boss she had me illegally demoted and cost me $84,000.00 in wages. #MeToo read more

They don't listen. After multiple attempts at explaining a very simple grooming we wanted for our girl, the juice is not worth the squeeze. She always comes out lopsided with weird gaps in her fur, like they shaved places for no reason. Think they may be having other issues, high staff turnover and prices go up every time we come in. Or maybe they just want to see what people will pay before walking away. Anyway we have walked away! There are too many other places in the city to deal with this one. read more

Seemingly slightly smaller location of Le Pet Spa. Thankfully, shelves are just as well-stocked as any larger Le Pet Spa and staff helpful and friendly as always. Nice to find this tucked over by SoHo - very convenient for grabbing something before heading home! read more
