I now live in Philadelphia and still only book with Sarah whenever I'm home. It was so important for me to have Sarah there to do my hair for my wedding back up in Massachusetts and of course, my hair was beyond perfect. After 12+ hours of the hustle and bustle of the day, including dancing (and some drinking), every single strand was in place and it looked just as perfect as the moment she sprayed the last bit of hairspray on before I headed off to the ceremony. Also The 1 star goes for the cleanliness of the salon. I walked in with long hair, I had a pic and a specific length that we discussed and Julie seemed to know exactly what I was requesting. It was Nothing outrageous to say the least. She questioned me about my highlights and where I had them done as she flung a few pieces through her fingers. I thought that she was being nice. I didn't catch her sarcasm, unprofessionalism and rudeness until all was done and I was home. I also asked her to please not cut anything off of my bangs. She asked, "Oh, why? Because You cut them?" Shouldn't matter right? I thought to myself. So she had a good 6"to "HAVE AT IT & CHOP and still could have left me with that 3" of length that I still wanted. Strangely, as she did this, she repeated 5 x's **"Well, AT LEAST You'll STILL BE ABLE TO PUT IT IN A PONYTAIL!" AT LEAST?? No, I can't Julie!! She also lobbed my layers so short they don't go to the elastic, are too short to curl up naturally and She left huge holes throughout. Holes: disconnected abrupt short to long layers that don't blend or make sense. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! Nor could I say anything other than "Please THAT"S ENOUGH OFF!" THEN.. OOOH SHE JUST COULDN'T HELP HERSELF!! She just grabbed a chunk from center of my bang area, no sectioning & no blending !! Just chopped 2.5" off !! Yes Julie I did! I had cut them, I was growing them out & they were fine! ( I had been a hairstylist for 12 years in a couple of salons before I became sick and unable to work. I would have never done this to someone and so I never expected this type of strange treatment. WHO AND WHY DOES SOMEONE DO THIS TO SOMEONE???!! At cash out for this $50 wash, cut & blow dry I gave her 3/$20's and asked her for 2/$5's back, She had the nerve to get sarcastic again and say..."Oh..Why? Cause you want one back?" UGH! This is not about getting my money back btw. I am happy to pay $100 to get what I want. I am also not a vain person, but for the last 3 weeks when I wash my hands and look into the mirror that I can feel my heart rate quicken and I shake! I have NEVER experienced a salon visit like this ! More than disappointing!

Well, I went in on a Tuesday afternoon and there were a few people there, but there was no wait for a walk-in. I got a fabulous wash, cut and dry and it was better quality AND lower price than L&L. I LOVE it! Will definitely go again. I love that I can walk here and I am supporting a small local business that's family friendly (the stylist had her teen/preteen daughter in the shop). If you need a haircut in Hyde Park, they do ALL hair! To the left of me in a chair was a black girl getting her hair relaxed and to the right of me was a Hispanic-looking woman getting a style.

The first braiding place I went to (I don't remember the name) in Boston was not it so I'm happy I found Blessing. I'm plain so both times I've gotten regular box braids- one time with triangle parts. Blessing and the other braiders will slick your edges too without you asking. The thing that sets this place apart is that whoever is braiding your hair will actually Greet you with a smile- at least from my experience. They also don't get frustrated if I have a last minute request, like putting an ombré hair at the top. They also don't rush you without providing quality service. Prices are average. Two thumbs up.

She washed my hair in under two minutes and it was very clear my scalp was not clean afterwards. She would not pay attention to how she was drying using the towel and shoved it in my face many times. With the braiding gel, she would also put it on my face like she wasn't paying close attention. I had to remind her that the middle of my hair which is very dense was still wet and she does not know how to blow-dry hair! She is very aggressive and I am not sure what kind of training she got but I had a migraine after the appointment and had to take painkillers. I have never had such a painful hair appointment. It is not right for your customers to feel this way. I would have spoken to her if not for the language barrier and I wanted to cancel my appointment at some point but decided to keep going as I had already paid before the service!
