i will soon be hiring Le Petit Chateau to do a third remodel at my home. its shocking to see prior bad reviews on this company when my experiences have been stellar. i notice the negative reviews are very old. I have never enjoyed the process of a remodel until I hired this Designer who has an impeccable team that works with her. She is creative and has an eye for style in whatever I've explained I like. I really cant say enough good things here but my favorite points to share are: 1. great design 2. great team of skilled workers 3. attention to details 4. no excuses-projects finished on time 5. good vendors/for picking out materials etc. Le Petit Chateau made it fun to improve my property. Not a good experience. I thought it would be good because they are heavy in european design but we came out of it with a modern spa feel. curtains, lamps and sconces are amazing and transformed my room. Still waiting on bench and wall art. Supposed to be in 2 months ago but they are giving the run around as to what the issue is. The designer they have is amazing but the owner is where the problem I think lies. She doesn't own her issues with the store. It's a real problem when i find out the manufacturer is amazing. so i question whether the owner, who places all the designers orders and handles all comms with the manuf. even put the order in. They don't even call you to keep you up to date. I'm at my last call today and will most likely ask for a stop order and get my money back. Do not order special from this lady. She uses every excuse from the book to explain why your stuff is 2-3 months overdue. read more

As others have said in their reviews I am so mad at myself for not reading this stores reviews prior to our purchases! My husband surprised me with the purchase of a large farmhouse trestle style table that's I had been looking around for. That was June 2013, we knew it had to be made and was told 3 months max which was understandable. Fast forward 3 months... Nothing. Didn't get to use it for the holidays which is why we bought it, continually called and got the run around for several months. Now 10 months TEN MONTHS after purchasing the table and bench we finally receive them only for them not to match at all. The table is what we wanted but the bench is Easily 3 shades off. I was blown away that this could be overlooked as I noticed it immediately. So we have been stuck with a mismatched bench for the last 3 months, waiting today for the right one to be delivered and I'm sure it'll be another issue. We are now convinced Debbie just have us the old display table instead of a brand new one because we got so upset and now the table in the store is gone. Bottom line do not buy from here, not only is the wait to get your items absolutely ridiculous but the customer service is bad. We paid over $3k for this stuff and continually get the run around. She paid for half after she had sold the items and never paid for the rest. She told us she would pay multiple times and each time failed to send the checks. Beautiful items but a bit on the pricey side. I've been working with Mia and Elizabeth on a deal to purchase dining room set. Agreed to $5k for 8 chairs and table but Mia was rude and short after I advised that I will not pay for items in cash. Will not risk losing $5k if they close the store. All other stores take credit or 20% down and rest when items arrive. Yes, they are discounting the whole set by $530, but I even suggested to pay cash upon the arrival of table and she said "absolutely not, that is NOT part of the deal". Be careful, these days don't pay for items in cash unless you are picking up right away. I have no problem paying cash, as long as I'm walking out with my purchase. Businesses are here today but gone tomorrow. Not saying that this will happen to this store, but I sure would like to have some sort of protection if anything happens with my order. I truly wished that we could have came to a mutual agreement regarding payment and I would have given them a few more stars. SO SOME UPDATED NEWS: I ended up buying my dining room set from Pottery World in Rocklin...way better deal, better price and better table: They delivered all my stuff in 3 days!! WOW, didn't have to wait 5 months and they let me pay with my AMEX. AND no pushy sales staff!!! Also told my friends about Pottery world and they will be buying their items from them as well... I have to pile on when everyone is correct. The store is beautiful but the service is terrible. It's incredibly ridiculous to order anything from this store and the customer service is non existent. I'm still waiting, 13 weeks later for simple wall hangings that we're to be in 6 to 8 weeks. Despite my repeated callin, I had to remind them that they owed me merchandise. Ive been told 3 times that my stuff is on the next shipment coming in "next week." I've tried to can el the order twice and have yest to receive a call back even to acknowledge. I've visited the store only to be told that the manager has to approve, again, no calls back. Do not order from this store. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before I ordered a painting. What was said to be 3 months is now almost 6 months with no end in sight. The owner is a real flake! Promises to call but never does. We've had to do all the pursuing trying to find out what is going on. Now I'm expected to wait another 2-4 weeks to get my money back! I'm contacting Channel 3 to see if they can do anything. If I could give zero stars I would. My review is similar to everyone else's review on here. Ordered bedroom furniture and dining table and chairs from Debbie. Everything took way longer than promised. When I say way longer I mean like 8 months longer. I understand when things don't go right from the manufacturer there is only so much you can do. But what you can control is your promise to keep customer updated. I tried to explain this to Debbie several times. Be responsibly for the part you do have control of! When another promised deadline for furniture came and went, I always had to be the one tracking her down for answers. Just terrible customer service...the worst I've ever had and Debbie just doesn't care. She takes all your money upfront so she just doesn't care what happens after that or at least that's the way I felt. We were so unhappy and basically saying we wanted our money back. She begged us to take the furniture once it came in and promised us a discount. Well you probably know where I'm going with this...furniture finally came and there was no follow up on a discount. And to top if off, furniture hardware was not what we ordered. The whole experience was terrible and every time I look at my beautiful, expensive furniture I think of the stress and unhappiness I felt to get it. Not sure if Debbie is still in business, but incase she is and someone is thinking about doing business with her....buyer beware!! We didn't listen to the reviews and I so wish we had. Do not place any special orders at this store!! I ordered several Sid Dickens tiles...I was required to prepay and it took 6 months to receive them. I called the company that produces the tiles, in Canada, ordered a tile myself (to see how long it would take) and it took two weeks to arrive at my door. I also ordered two iron sconces from Le Petit Chateau. After going into the store multiple times and asking for items, then my money back...I was told they do not refund special orders...I was constantly given the run-a-round about when the sconces would arrive. They even gave me delivery dates but the items never arrived. Finally, after 9 months (yes, 9 months) I asked for a store credit and it was agreed to. I spent the credit immediately because I do not want to go back in there after all I had been through with them!! The owner had also promised a free Sid Dickens tile for all my waiting but never followed through with that!! I can't say it enough...don't special order from Le Petit Chateau, you will regret it. This store is truly OLD WORLD concepts (at it's worst) as they claim. I ordered a set of towels which didn't arrive for 6 months!! (The sales associates kept telling me they were on their way from Europe) and finally when I stated I wanted my money back they figured out they were incorrectly ordered. I got them finally with a "free" washcloth for waiting. I should have known that doing business with them would be a catastrophe but I ordered a side table ($2,477.00!!) from them which I was told would take 2-4 months. WRONG!!! Again, 7 1/2 months later after harassing them I was told that it was finally in! (It truly was on a slow boat from China apparently) When it was delivered, I was disappointed to see it was 1)delivered very dusty and dirty 2)the incorrect stain and color!!! Debbie, the owner asked me if I would like to wait a few more weeks because the 'right one' was on it's way. I asked for a refund. Which by the way took another few weeks to get back. The OLD WORLD part is the horrid customer service and inaccurate time frame that I was given. I am all for supporting small business but NOT at my expense and NOT to propagate future bad customer service. DO NOT SHOP HERE! I never will again! read more

DO NOT PAY CASH AT THIS STORE!!!!!! We ordered about $10,000 (!) worth of bedroom furniture on July 14, 2012. Although they tried really hard to get us to pay cash, I couldn't do it since we weren't taking immediate delivery, and I'm so glad I listened to my instinct and insisted on using my credit card. We were told our order would arrive in 12-16 weeks, but they also said things often come in much earlier. Well, November 3, 2012 was the 16 week mark, and when I called them to find out the status, they said what they really mean is 3-4 months, so my order wasn't technically due until November 14, and they were expecting it right around then. I pointed out the contract specified weeks, not months, and 16 weeks isn't the same as 4 months. Oh well, all I can say now is that at this point I would consider myself lucky if they made that 4 month mark. Half of my furniture FINALLY arrived on December 21, which is 23 weeks, or 5 months and 1 week after I placed my order. As of this writing on April 20, 2013, 40 weeks (or 9 months and 6 days) I STILL do not have the other half of my furniture. I could've made an entire human being in this amount of time. I've heard every excuse in the books, from Hurricane Sandy (not sure how that would affect a shipment from China to CA, but okay) to Chinese New Years (apparently nobody in China works for about a month when they have their New Year?) to the economy (it's improving, so somehow that has delayed my order). Now I see they're having a special right now offering an additional 5% discount to anyone paying cash. I can't in good conscience let that stand without at least trying to warn people that paying cash in this store would be a horrible idea if you aren't taking your merchandise the same day. The owner has done a few things to try to mitigate the damage (a small store credit and some loaner furniture that only arrived two weeks ago, 38 weeks after my order had been placed). But none of that was on the table until I told her I was going to call my credit card company and dispute the charges. Had I paid cash, I would have had absolutely no power. I will say the parts of my order that have arrived are absolutely beautiful and just as expected. Excellent quality and worth every penny. Just be forewarned paying cash is probably not a great idea, and the staff and owner know full well you'll be waiting for your furniture for a VERY long time after it's promised. Take whatever time they give you and triple it. If you're okay with that, then by all means go ahead and order your dream furniture from them. I may lose my store credit for posting this, but I would rather have a clear conscience than the credit. read more

PLEASE READ THIS....Buyer Beware! On Feb. 14, 2013, my husband and I bought an entire bedroom set from this store. We were told 12-14 weeks for delivery. 3 of the pieces were a speciality finish, the bed and armoire were the standard black. We were told we HAD TO pay all the money up front which we did ($13,000). Four or five months went by and no furniture or contact by the owenr, Debbie Nelson-Motell. Every few weeks I would contact her always to get an excuse why it was delayed. Hysterectomy, breakup with husband, employee difficulties, the manufacturer...you name it! Finally, in September of 2013, Debbie sends a photo of the furniture that had finally arrived ONLY the speciality finish was not what we ordered 7 months prior. Of course, she blamed it on the manufacturer but agreed to have it shipped back to have it re-done. We did keep the bed as it was correct, however, the armoire which was standard black did not come at all! "The manufacturer is having issues with this particular armoire" we were told. So December (10 months after we ordered the furniture), we receive everything except the armoire. Debbie tells me that another armoire is available and we agree to take that one. We agreed to have it done in the speciality finish. When the armoire finally arrived 14 months after the original purchase, it is yet another finish. During the entire ordeal, I attempted to gain the name and number of the manufacturer, but was given the run around. Debbie suggested that the manufacturer take the armoire back and re-do the finish. Not wanting to deal with her any longer, we asked for our money back. In the meantime,I was able to locate a decal on the armoire with the manufacturer on it and put my detective hat on and tracked down the owner. GUESS WHAT...she did not place our order for 4 MONTHS after we gave her the money!! The owner told me that he had been having issues with her paying for his product so they put her on a COD status. We also read in the Business Journal where she owes/owed $15,000 in state sales tax. Please be very leary of doing business with La Petit Chateau and Debbie Nelson-Motell. I will say that when I advised her that I had a long conversation with the owner of the furniture company, she returned our money with interest. She plays a ponzi scheme which could land her in really hot water. She will tell you she's the only store that carries this furniture, but don't believe her. Read all the reviews (here and other sites) before you pay for anything in advance. Our experience was similar to those of many others. Much time spent with credit card company (to no avail). Delivery MANY months after the very liberal extreme "estimated" date given at the time of purchase. Credit card companies can't credit back $ because the date on the contract is "estimated" and the "unanticipated delays" story Le Petit give them (probably in a form letter) makes it legally difficult for them, even if they are sympathetic to the circumstances. After this experience, we won't even buy anything cash and carry. Also, if you are going to purchase anything, always wait for sales. The continuing sales get prices down to "reasonable" for the high quality items offered. read more

Frankly, I am waiting for their doors to close. I puchased an item from the store when they were located in El Dorado Hills. The item was delivered and the delivery folks were not able to get the item upstairs. Shame on us for not measuring; however, we did not think the size of the item would be an issue. Buyers Beware: DO NOT SHOP HERE!! This is the WORST store & service EVER! At first glance, they have beautiful French Country & Italian furniture, but don't expect that you'll ever get why you bought! In April, my husband and I purchase a gorgeous black & rust wrought iron bed. Two problems right when we bought it 1) We were told it'd be 12 weeks delviery because it was handmade outside the US (Mexico). 2) To get the 40% off sale price we had to pay cash in full up front. These should have been red flags, but we loved the bed, so we agreed. When the end of June came and the bed was due to us, they said that "due to a manufacturing delay" it would now be the end of July. The end of July, they said that it was still delayed and the manufacturer promised it would be on a delivery truck in two weeks (I spoke to the owner at this point), and that our delivery date would be August 25th. A few weeks later they called and said the delivery would be August 30th. We were frustrated, but so tired of dealing with it we figured we'd give them the 5 days. So August 29th I called to see if we had a delivery time, and I was informed that they had been consistenly unable to contact the factory, and would like have someone domestically remake the bed and ship it to use within 3 weeks. Now first of all, originally they sell you on the fact that their stuff is handmade and imported and unique....but at this point Mia (the manager) told me that the bed wasn't that hard to make...they just purchase from Mexico because it is cheaper. We demanded a refund (which is against store policy), and luckily they agreed. But they told us it would take 2 weeks to get our money back because it had to come from their corporate office (which we still don't understand since this is a single store with one owners who frequents the store. But they insisted we needed to wait 2 weeks to get our $1800 back, which we fronted them 5 months before for a product we never got! (They should have paid us interest). The day the money was due to us (a Thursday), my husband called to see if the check was ready to pick up, and Mia told him that the owner was in earlier and had the check but forgot to leave it and left town for the weekend. So we had to wait until Monday to pick it up. My husband went first thing Monday and got the check. As a consolation for our trouble, they gave us a jar of red pepper chili anchovy jam. I have heard rumors (online & from people who know the owner) that the store may have financial trouble and uses your money before you get your product. Do NOT EVER pay for an item in full before you get it, as I later found out that if the store closes you're out your money! This is the WORST shopping experience I have ever had. Le Petit Chateau is not Better Business Bureau accredited and has multiple claims against them for the exact same issues. I highly recommend you shop elswhere. We are thrilled that our new Pottery Barn bedroom set will be delivered this week-- 2 weeks after we ordered it. read more

Le Petit Cateau at the Fountains in Roseville is a sophisticated little French inspired furniture store. They sell everything from large furniture items to small take home jams and marinates. Right when I entered the store I was greeted by one of the employees asking me how my day was which was very welcoming. The store was very clean and organized and very easy to browse. I ended up buying some Earth and Vine jams and marmalades and I could not be any happier. They are delicious with anything, and especially because they have a sample of one of the jams by the register you can taste the product before buying. Since my initial visit I have ordered some dinnerware by Casafina, which have not arrived yet but the company has been great with keeping me informed if they are coming in sooner. I love this little French furniture store and I would reccommend coming into this store even if it is just to browse. read more

This is the first time that I have ever been so disappointed in an establishment that I felt compelled to write a review to warn future potential customers. My wife and I ordered a dining room set back in early June of 2013. I won't bore you with all of the set up details, but the owner Debbie Nelson offered us a small discount for a cash payment and asked for 100% of the order up front. I offered and she accepted 70%. We were promised 10 to 12 weeks for delivery. In early October, when the table set had still not arrived, we were told that she was checking with her supplier, but that she anticipated that the table set would be arriving soon. By the time late October arrived I demanded a specific delivery date. I was assured that the table would arrive by Thanksgiving, placing the delivery at over 20 weeks from when we placed the order. I told Debbie that I wanted to speak to her supplier myself to verify her story of the delivery. She refused to give me the name, indicating that it was against their policy to disclose exclusive suppliers. I called her and followed up several times. Thanksgiving came and then she said that there was a transportation/trucking problem and the set was to arrive by the first week in December. We really wanted this dining room set, so I gave her one more chance and asked her for a guarantee in writing, that if the table did not arrive by December 7th, that she would refund us our deposit with interest. So after 6 months, we never received the set and instead received a cashier's check refund. My strong speculation is that current cash deposits she receives are utilized to pay off current delivery orders, that our order was not placed until she managed to accumulate enough cash to put the deposit down and that when it came time to deliver, the supplier did experience backlog issues of some sort. If the set ever did arrive, she had a backup sale to cover the cash she gave back to us. If you decide to not heed the warnings of these reviews, whatever you do, put little to no money down. read more
