We had a late day lunch here. Cafe wasn't too busy. We had great service. The crepes were good and the ambiance was relaxed. Overall, we enjoyed it and it exceeded the aggregate reviews.

Our first stop in Quebec City for quick lunch. We all enjoyed the different crepes: ham & cheese, mushroom & cheese and fries. This is a nice place next to the Chateau Frontenac with a lovely terrace for the warmer months. Quick, friendly service. I'm

Fondue was good. Atmosphere was ok. We should have asked to sit outside since it was nice out. Cheese was great and had nice flavor. Chocolate was ok. Two other people got single serve and got the same plate and we got for two. Same amount out chocolate and things to dip.

We came here for quick lunch because it was just at the corner of hotel le château Frontenac. The vegetable crepe was good for quick lunch; light and feel healthy. The French onion soup was not so good and I can't even finish it; it was more watery and the cheese was tough to bite down to swallow. The French crepe was average. Hot chocolates were decent. Service was good and the staffs were friendly. Price was right for quick lunch.

A Delicious Lunch in the Heart of Old Québec…read more We stopped into Lapin Sauté for lunch following a wonderful walking tour of Old Québec, and it proved to be the perfect place to relax and enjoy a memorable meal. Both of us opted for the table d'hôte menu, which included an appetizer, main course, dessert, and tea or coffee. We happily paid the small supplement to begin with the Duck Foie Gras served with strawberry-rhubarb jam and brioche--a decision we did not regret for a second. The foie gras was rich and silky, while the sweet-tart jam provided a beautiful contrast. For our entrées, I chose the Pulled Rabbit Poutine with devil's sauce. Comfort food elevated to another level, it was hearty, flavorful, and utterly satisfying. My dining partner selected the Cassoulet with duck sausage and duck leg confit. While the duck was excellent, it was the beans that stole the show--perfectly cooked, deeply flavored, and exactly what a great cassoulet should be. We finished with desserts: a traditional Far Breton for me and a beautifully executed Crème Brûlée for my dining partner. Both were wonderful endings to an already excellent meal. The service was warm and attentive, the ambiance charming and inviting, and the food delicious from beginning to end. Located in the heart of Old Québec, Lapin Sauté is exactly the kind of restaurant travelers hope to discover--authentic, welcoming, and serving food that leaves a lasting impression. Highly recommended, and we would gladly return on our next visit to Québec City.

I ordered the half rack of ribs, which was a mixed bag. The flavor was good, but several ribs were so burnt they were completely inedible--straight to the discard pile. They came with a well-dressed Caesar salad featuring seasoned croutons and delicious shaved bacon, plus sliced fried potatoes that were crispy and not greasy in the least. The thick layer of BBQ sauce wasn't quite my style--I'm a dry rub girl--but I was too hungry to care much. No photos because I devoured everything. My dining companion had a chicken sandwich she raved about. She ordered a Nordic spritz while I indulged in some Quebec cider. Honestly, I expected more pork options given the restaurant's name, but they fed us quickly and efficiently, which was exactly what we needed. No real complaints except for those burnt ribs. The interior has eclectic, cool-looking decor that's worth checking out. Our waitress provided quick and efficient service as well.

Personally, it was a treat for me trying out something different, but I do not think everyone would appreciate its almost raw meat and liver-like texture. The Tartare comes with fries, a salad, and crouton to round up the order. We upgraded the side of fries that came with the Tartare into their Tout Cochon poutine. I was happy with that option that way I was able to sample their house poutine without needing to dedicate a full meal order for it. I can say this was among the best poutines I have had. The gravy was rich and flavourful. The poutine was also loaded with a variety of different proteins like the Gaspor farm ham and the bacon-wrapped sausage. The perron cheese curds also perfectly topped off the whole dish. Our last order was the Quebec pork chop marinated and grilled with maple and tamari. It was served with apple chutney, sweet potato mash, and seasonal vegetables. It is exactly as you would expect with the ingredient details of the dish's name. You get a lot of different flavour profiles and textures with the meal order. Some saltiness with the pork chop then some sweetness with the apple chutney. Meaty tenderness with the pork chop, mushiness with the potato mash, and then some slightly crunchiness with the seasonal vegetables. We dined on Sunday lunchtime the day before Family Day. There were people waiting to be seated by the time we arrived, but fortunately our group of only 2 people has a table spot available so did not need to wait. We were led down flights of stairs to the lower floor which was level with the street below. The whole place with its classic walls and decor exudes with classic charm.

Most of the items presented to me were things that I've never had before. My meal came with a complimentary glass of wine or beer. I picked red wine. I received a full bodied house red, which was a perfect choice. The split pea soup I picked was just a few degrees above room temperature upon arrival, and grew cold before I was half done. The peas had a firmness that would indicate they were undercooked. (Or perhaps that is how they are cooked here.) Either way, its texture was not to my liking. (No bread or roll was given). The main I picked was "Grandma's Treat" a combination of foods some of which were truly delightful. A slice of meat pie, meatballs, beans, vegetables, and pickled beets and onions (?). The meat pie was very good, not at all spicy with a flaky crust. The meatballs were my absolute favorite, served with small cooked potatoes in gravy. Delicious!! The beans were good, much like beans usually are. The mixed vegetables were string beans, carrots, and tomatoes on top of what appeared to be cooked purple cabbage (?). Good, but also barely room temperature. Included on my plate was something with which I am not familiar. A reddish purple pickled beets and onions (?) that was cool and slightly sweet. I enjoyed this a lot. Needless to say, the main course was a lot of food. I had to take my dessert to go. My choice, chocolate pie, was heavenly. The crust was crisp and it was served in a thin sweet red syrup of some sort. I'm certain it would have tasted even better at the restaurant. (I ate this pie later that evening after carrying it around, then refrigerating it, so it wasn't in its best form.) I am no expert on Canadian cuisine, but dining here was a nice addition to my exploration of Old Quebec City. I would recommend this restaurant.

It is incredibly simple, tasty food, focused on tracing back the traditions of people who inhabited Quebec when it was the capital of New France and later English conquest. The Pea Soup is a simple, yet perfectly executed first course. The meat pie is made in a style of home, plentiful meat with little of the pie crust. Maybe, not the easiest meal to eat, but satisfying. Simple green beans, some potatoes. Meat balls from Bison and Elk are flavorful. Boreal beers on draft are wonderful. Dessert of maple pie is a classic and one must be prepared for loads of sweetness. The team working here is kind, accommodating and attentive, although to be fair, they have been quite understaffed during the holidays Aux Anciens Canadiens is a place that undoubtedly belongs here. It is simple comfort food, situated in a historical home and serves the the kind that one would find in Grandma's kitchen.

The tradition of table-side cooking is something that has largely evaporated, probably for many understandable reasons that might range from catching someone's hair on fire to the complexity of making waiters become chefs. Yet, Le Continental kept it alive and fortunate guests have the privilege to experience this. The restaurant was opened by two Italian immigrants 1956 in a historic house of old Quebec. Then, about a decade ago, ownership transferred to a gentleman who started here as a waiter at the age of 13 and now is the owner. If a story like that is not enough to cement the quality of Le Continental, consider that the team of waiters here has worked at Le Continental most of their lives. They are true masters of their craft. When it comes to wine, there is a pleasant, fairly condensed wine list focused on French appellations. Highlights of the menu are unquestionably the excellent steaks, in particular the filet mignon, as well as Pommes Dauphinese and Escargot. Le Continental is a relic of times long gone and a place that needs to stick around here. Given how popular it is, that hopefully should not be a problem.

They made a sauce and without inquiring, poured it over the steak. We did not enjoy the sauce. It reminded me of A1. The mashed potatoes were soupy and the creamed spinach seemed to be a strange concoction of puréed spinach soaking in some liquid. Neither were creamy or rich in flavoring- simply watery. The chopped carrots served as an accompaniment to the meal were the best tasting and the mousse was nice. The Caesar salad was nothing special.
