The staff was warm and welcoming, and the happy hour with wine, cheese, and fruit was a great touch. The courtyard with the stone fire pit and waterfall is beautiful and makes the whole place feel extra inviting. You also really can't beat the location--it's an easy walk to the village, shops, restaurants, galleries, and the beach. Our room was updated, very clean, and well-appointed with a fireplace, large TV, microwave, fridge, and a nicely renovated bathroom. Now for the downsides... Carmel happened to be in a heat wave while we were there, and the room was HOT. There's no AC, and the tiny fan they gave us barely made a difference. It definitely made sleeping uncomfortable. But the biggest disappointment by far was the breakfast. For the price you're paying per night, it was honestly shocking how underwhelming it was. The only protein option was hard-boiled eggs (and if you don't eat eggs, you're out of luck). Everything else felt like the bare minimum--mediocre toast, bagels, croissants, granola, yogurt, etc. The yogurt was so watery we couldn't even eat it, and the rest was just very basic and forgettable. We did appreciate that it was delivered directly to our room. Overall, we did enjoy the stay because of the charm, location, and friendly staff, but the heat and especially the breakfast were definite letdowns. We'd consider coming back, but with much lower expectations for the food--and definitely not during a heat wave.

The You are not allowed to leave pets unattended which is a rule at manyother establishments. They offer pet strollers, towels and a rinse station for the dogs. My dog Boba is remembered by name and is welcomed with a treat. His picture is taken for their yearly album and our stay is personalized with his name on the welcome board. My dog likes to bark and I do my best to keep it down. But never have I had to deal with complaints because they get it - and the other guests seem to understand also. Snacks for humans and pets are available in the lobby throughout the day . The staff is super friendly and go above service to have our room ready for our stay - with accommodating early check ins when possible. They offer goodies to take home during check out. Breakfast choices include quiche, oatmeal, baked goods, fruit and yogurt. It's best enjoyed out on the patio or inside where dinner trays are provided. My favorite rooms have a patio and Jacuzzi tub. The rooms are spacious and bedding is soft. The price is very reasonable for their amenities. The location is 5 min walk to Carmel shops and restaurants. The beach is a few minute drive too. So location, breakfast, spacious rooms and dog friendly staff is why ai choose to stay here every time we visit Carmel and Monterey.

After some back and forth, the company comped us an insufficient amount given we didn't have access to the property for a day. For that price, the place should have been in good working order and available for the entire rental time.

At least in our room, we did have some space to move around although we were on a lower level and could hear some noise outside. There were some aspects that were interesting- there were two luggage racks which was a nice touch, but each was quite rickety and threatening to collapse at any moment. For the cost of the room, you would think they could repair them or replace them. The room was also quite hot , and there is no AC so we were provided with a fan that has seen much better days. Again for the cost, maybe update this?! I will say the towels were fantastic and incredibly soft. The water pressure in the shower was also very good. Also, the mattress provided good support for me. I'm a side sleeper and normally wake up with aches but I did not encounter any during my stay. The staff for the most part was decent, but it also depended on who you interacted with. Some were definitely not as friendly as others and seemed to know only peripheral details. The mini fridge was only stocked with sparkling or still water and cookies were brought each night but if you say at the Del Sol location in Napa, their mini fridges are stocked with five times the type of drinks and snacks so finding that the selection here to be extremely limited was very disappointing. The room was cleaned each day and there was turn down service at night. The location is decent, and it's walkable. They have valet car service, but it's clear they don't have a dedicated lot but rather street park. My car was covered with debris and quite dirty when returned. I guess given the location space is limited. Bottom line- If I were ever to return, it's unlikely I would stay here again. It's not worth the cost.
