We stopped here on our journey around the city one evening, and it looked like an excellent spot for a bite. I am so glad that we did. We loved the people-watching and shared great conversations with the staff and the servers. They were very friendly throughout the time that we were there and had terrific recommendations. We ordered a few French staples and, of course, some delicious drinks as well. Paris undoubtedly has better food, but we loved what we got here. My biggest complaint is the space or lack thereof, that you have when you go to places like this. They work hard to cram as many people in there as possible, and they do a great job at it. Nevertheless, they were quick to serve, and everything was clean and warm when ordered, as necessary. I recommend it to people who are in the area and are interested in a quick bite. read more

I am really shocked this restaurant does not have a higher score. The food was delicious and presented very attractively. The service was attentive and efficient. We had a late unplanned lunch. They served us quickly because they were going to close before the dinner service. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a nice restaurant by chance. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the pomme frites were perfect as well! Because it's a warm June night I needed something cool and icy so instead of the normal Apérol Spritz I drank my new favorite, the Saint-Germain Spritz which is 1 1/4oz Saint-Germain liqueur 2oz prosecco 2oz sparkling water or lemonade With a slice of lemon Truly divine! Taking a break from walking the streets of Paris we dropped into a lovely street cafe located on the corner of Rue de Turenne and Rue de Frances Bourgeois - just behind the Place des Voges, 17th Century Palace Royal, the oldest planned square in Paris and a most expensive and chic residence to Paris nobility. The service was impeccable the food noteworthy and the perfect location to people watch. This is a corner filled with chic boutiques of named designers, an eclectic mix of wealth shoppers, day worked and tourists filled the streets. So good to see all this hustle again. But I digress, my husband had a lovely beef burger and fries nothing to report other than he is a picky burger guy and was very pleased. I on the other hand ordered a Caesar salad and it was anything but Ordinary. In face I would say it may have ruined me from ever enjoying another Caesar as is typically served in the US (romaine, dressing, croutons, cheese). First off the salad served by Royal Tureene was beautiful! Secondly, the produce was lovely Fresh, lush, crisp leaves of romaine lettuce, lined the ample bowl, this was filled with a significant mound of; * chopped romaine lettuce (greens not cores) * sliced blanched carrots * blistered marinated cherry tomatoes * snipped green chives * shaved nutty parmesan * sweet raisins * buttery croutons The crowning floral was a full chicken breast which has been prepared exquisitely to yield a smoky, sweet, moist crunchy bite. The protein was pounded to tenderized at about 1/2" thick and marinated in a paprika based sauce, it was then breaded in Panko and fried crisp. So got an Airbnb close to this location, in La Marais. Just walking and enjoying the beautiful buildings and weather. Had 3 to 4 rows of outdoor patio seating that were packed. Found a table on the side that was perfect. Great service, funny servers, I speak l little French but tried my best. Very charming. Ordered a delicious bottle of red roses, foie gras, French onion soup. My daughter and her friend. Super, just needed a pack of cigarettes lol. We asked for a cheese plate without meat. They then brought it with meat. We then asked for a new one. They had only removed it. We make a scene, they replace it. They promise not to charge us. We get our entrees, they were ok. I get my brownie, and it was fine. Then they bring us the bill and they charged us for the new cheese plate. We had to argue with them to get them to remove it. Where to begin? 45 minutes after not even asking me if I wanted a drink. Yes, the waiters acknowledged me,but I finally had to go inside and complain. Then the beefsteak,which could not be cut with the serrated table knife and only marginally better with a requested steak knife. Really chewy beefsteak with a rather wilted green leaf salad--well the fries were decent. In all fairness, during the first 20 minutes of my wait,the restaurant was rather busy, but the crowd had thinned out and still no service. I had eaten here 5 or 6 times while here on different trips a few years ago and was looking forward to another good meal. Not this time! My advice--keep walking. Paris has lots of good restaurants. Came here for lunch as had been shopping in the area. I only had a starter and wine as we had dinner plans later. L'escargots were fabulous - lovely and garlicky. As I am gluten free then I brought my own bread. Portions are huge! My friend ordered the goats cheese salad and a massive salad with bacon, veggies, cheese and bread arrived. He done it justice but it was a bit of a struggle towards the end! Service - no issues. It was a very hot summer night, we passed a lot of overrun terraces. Luckily there was a spot on this one aaand they had a cooling water sprinkling system! They called it 'aire de Bretagne'. The waiters were lovely and in a very good mood. The restaurant has a classic menu with some fish and meat. Our fish burger and rumsteak were 'a point'. We ate here last night after arriving in Paris late afternoon. We had a bottle of Beaujolais Nouveau 2014 since the festival was very recent. It was very reasonably priced at 20euro. We had chicken caesar salad, escargots, 2 cheeseburgers, and steak tartare. All the dishes came out well prepared and were very tasty. The wait staff was pleasant and came to check multiple times on how we were. The portions were a surprise, we figured they would be the smaller sizes ... but the burgers were very near 1/2 pound with a large basket of fries. The steak tartare was very good, had that hint of sour that meshed well with the dijon and hint of tabasco. The chicken on the salad was superbly cooked. The parmesan "shavings" were thinly sliced but very long. It was enjoyable. I admit that if we had read this review in advance, we would have skipped it. Glad we didn't. read more

And there the tattoo covered waitress who took our order, in full view and not the least embarrassed, took two glasses on the bar in her left hand, dipped her right hand in a bucket full of ice cubes, filled our glasses and brought them to our table! We were in Paris for 10 days and this was our place. Each morning we'd go for coffee and breakfast and many days stop by in the afternoon for a wine. The service is excellent. Our special waiter was David. He spoke excellent English and was so funny as he dealt with us. This was our second trip to Paris and last time in 2010, we spent a lot of time there, also. My wife and I got the hungries on a recent trip through Paris and this place looked inviting enough for us to stop in. They welcomed us just fine, as there were only a handful of patrons for an early lunch. I ordered the crepes sucre, which was underwhelming and unsatisfying. My coffee was decent, but my wife's decaf was terrible. Nescafe powder with some rancid water. She and I each took one sip to confirm how rancid it was. We tried to get the attention of the waiter to complain, he intoned that we would have to speak with the owner. She finally approached after a few minutes and gave us a look that said "too bad". In my broken French and their broken English, we tried to get the $5 taken off the tab. They began to argue that 'we should have known better' than to order decaf. REALLY? We've had good, REALLY good decaf in Paris already. Theirs was just terrible. It went downhill from there, they refused to do anything about it and we walked away pissed off (and me still hungry). We had a lovely experience and came back twice to enjoy the warm, helpful, and attentive wait staff, the high quality of the food, and the very pleasant ambience. We especially enjoyed the soupe a l'oignon, the mousse au chocolat, and the cheeseburger, as well as the selection of wines. We will definitely come here next time we're in Paris. Can't understand some recent negative reviews. We visit Paris every year for several weeks and eat at many Bistros and Brassaries. The Royal Turenne is better than most. Its location and large terrace at a busy crossroad near the place des Voges makes it a prime locale for the people watching that is so much a part of Paris life. The food is excellent. Great and huge salads. The steaks, which I ordered on three occasions were far superior to any I have eaten at many Parisian Bistros, including ones recommended by famous food critics. The waiters are multi-lingual, friendly, and efficient. It is not cheap, but show me a decent restaurant in Paris that is. Ownership of this Brassarie changed hands several months ago and some reviewers worried that quality would decline. Not so! Stopped by for dinner. The service and food were average but read the bill!! I ordered (not on the menu) hot water with lemon. I figured they'd charge me something but the house water is free, so how much more could it be! On the bill, they charged me 5.40 Euro!! For a cup of hot water and a slice of lemon!! That's almost $7.50 Canadian!! They said they had to charge me for tea, but the tea on the menu was 4.8 Euros - is that a double rip-off!! What a tourist trap - stay away! read more
