Don't get confused with the sandwich line on the very right of the restaurant (takeaway only). You should walk to the front and let them know you are looking to dine in. Seats are fairly cramped outside. The food was good, but could have been better. Duck confit fell off the bone very easily, but some of the meat was a little dry. The sautéed potatoes were fairly crispy, but I'd prefer the frites. Rump steak was a pretty thick cut and slightly chewy as well. Bearnaise sauce helped a bit. Fries were fried well and were tasty.
i normally do not like cold sandwiches but this was simple and effective! we got the baguette with butter, cheese, and meat. and pickles!! so satisfying
This place is known for its sandwiches for a great reason: they are fantastic and well priced. I advise getting here early as a queue will start right away going outside of the building.
My friend and I visited here in October 2025 and loved it so much, we came back the next day for a repeat lunch. Try to get a seat at the counter if you can so you can enjoy the performance of lunchtime and watch this woman make these incredible perfect jambon-beurres. Everything about this place is superb. I will never go to Paris again without eating here. A simple sandwich done simply with fresh ingredients done to perfection.
Stopped in here on our first day in Paris- what a great experience! It's small and it's crowded- depending on the music on the speaker- the entire place- including staff- sing as loud as you can imagine! The locals know all the songs and the French people do it right! They have a menu- which you can order from if you sit at a table- we choose the bar seating where you can get a sandwich- no sandwiches at the tables- The Julian w the hard cheese and cornichon pickles is the order- the staff told us how to add these to the Julien for a wonderful sandwich! The onion soup is also quite good. You can get take away and eat as you walk the streets as many do. The staff was super and inviting- the ones that speak English talk and engage you as you eat- even the chef on his break sat by me at the counter and tried a little English! We picked up take away sandwiches for the train back to Frankfurt! Wonderful experience in the Vendôme area- try it!
Order at the counter for a great sandwich! They also have sit down service for meals but the sandwich is where it's at! So good and you have it in about a minute and back on your way!
The food here was awesome, I loved the vibe of the place and really enjoyed the service the employees gave us. I got the duck, and it was delicious, it comes with potatoes but I substituted it for chips, and there were so many, crispy, delicious and not burnt at all. Our server was so nice, and looked liked she loved her job and liked being there. The tables are close together and the bathroom is downstairs. There is a big outside area with tons of seating covered and non covered which you are able to smoke inside and outside. There is a full bar and tons of tables inside. I will define you be coming back to this place. 100/10 definitely recommend

Pour nous américains typique, on va dire que c'est un " ham sandwich , " mais c'est une simple pièce d'œuvre. Belle baguette, bon jambon, beurre généreux, fromage exceptionnel, cornichons immaculés...voilà un sandwich parfait. Si tu arrives pendants les temps plus occupés, ou pour juste à prendre un sandwich, c'est à emporter seule. Si tu veux manger en place, il faut que tu commandes sur le menu complet. Le " cheat code " pour avoir le sandwich encore est pour commander une planche avec tous les ingrédients et on peut créer beaucoup des petits sandwiches soi-même. On fait ça pour ma mère (et moi) et j'ai commandé le pied à cochon avec des frites. Les frites était somptueuse. Le cochon était similaire à des plats barbecue de Caroline du Nord à l'est (ma origine) donc c'était un surprise plaisante. One of the things I wanted to eat in Paris was Jambon. After some research and finding the best restaurant that fit into our itinerary, I decided we should go to Le Petit Vendome. Originally we were going to get them to go and eat them at Jardin du Luxembourg but we ended up dining in. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted and were given the option to dine in or take out. We told her dine in and we had our choice of where to sit. It's a cozy restaurant that has indoor, outdoor and bar countertop seating. It was a little hard choosing the cheese so I asked her what she recommended and she suggested Cantal "entre deux". I ended up ordering Jambon with Cured Ham and Cantal. Mink didn't know what to order so she ordered the same thing. We both ordered a black coffee as well. They didn't take long to get our coffee out and moments later we received our sandwiches. They were amazing! You can taste the quality of their ingredients and the baguette was amazing. Customer service was exceptional and we're so glad we dined in. We highly recommend going to Le Petit Vendome.
When in Rome do as the ... I should say Paris. This place was around the corner from where I was staying. Definitely seemed like the locals hang out here. On our final night we grabbed a bite. First off it is cramped inside so we sat outside, slightly less cramped. For starters we got the French onion soup which was amazing probably best I ever had. Not salty like the states. We also got the prosciutto (jambon de pays) since my wife's been on a prosciutto kick. It was good. We both ordered the rib steak with fries. (Steak frites). It was very flavorful but a bit more fatty than we both like. I highly recommend the black peppercorn sauce. I should have ordered the Pave cut which was their rump steak to balance it out. Overall a nice French meal.

A spot that was featured on Delicious Destinations for their Ham and Cheese Baguette. About 10 minutes ride from Musée D'Orsay so we got here for lunch around 1:45. Surprisingly they were busy but we lucked out as a table for 2 finished and we were seated right away. Small, loud and cozy with a petite Bar area and outdoor seating. We started with Pelforth-Local Lager. Light and crisp. They also had a US IPA (Lagunitas) and Belgian Ale on Draft. For starter, we shared their house made Foie Gras. Mild flavor and delicious! For Main, it was the Duck Confit-tender and cooked perfectly with home made potatoes taking it over the top. Escalope Normande was also excellent-medium rare Veal and creamy mushroom sauce that was so good we asked for more on the side. Many of the entrees looked enticing. From Andouille Sausage to Steak, Pig Triotter, Lamb Chitterlings and even a Burger which we saw on a few tables. Also, Charcuterie is available. The Ham sandwich can be eaten only at the Bar or ordered for takeaway. Ingredients-House roasted Ham, Cantal cheese and Butter. So simple and delicious! Our Server was upbeat and engaged with hustle. She navigated a busy Lunch crowd with ease. Local flavor for sure and not to be missed!
We got sandwiches to go and tried to eat them nicely at Place Vendome, which was a short walk. Ironic, eating Parisian sandwiches in an area of luxury shopping galore. The sandwiches were messy to eat, mostly because the bread of was so tough. Seriously thought I was going to break a tooth! Tasty but bread was way too tough, so we went carb free. And, there were no napkins in the bag. Omg, funny all around.
Le Petit Vendôme is one of those places you'll see all over social media and travel guides, often praised for serving one of the best sandwiches in Paris. Naturally, we had to see what all the excitement was about. ambience has that old-school Parisian bistro feel We ordered their best sellers and while both sandwiches were made with quality ingredients, fresh bread, and generous fillings, they just didn't live up to the expectations. They were good, but they weren't the kind of sandwiches that make you stop after the first bite and think, this is amazing. I honestly don't understand the hype. After waiting in line, I expected something truly memorable, but it turned out to be just a good sandwich, nothing more. If you happen to pass by when there's little or no queue, it's worth trying. But if there's a long line, I'd skip it and head to one of the many other excellent sandwich shops in Paris. For me, the wait simply wasn't justified. read more
Absolutely worth the line for a sandwich!! You have heard the hype and you simply must go! We were in the area and looking for a late lunch so we stopped by around 2PM and got in line. We had to wait about 15 minutes but it was so worth it! We got of the ham, cheese and butter sandwiches and my my this was amazing! For $20, the sandwiches were a GREAT price and absolutely delicious! No need to sit inside just grab and go and enjoy! read more

Authentic French restaurant is such a treat !! The veal and duck dishes are absolutely delicious and clearly prepared with care and tradition. They also have an awesome wine selection that pairs beautifully with the menu. The restaurant itself is cozy with tight seating, which we didn't mind at all .. it adds to the charm. Lunch does get very busy with both pickup orders and dine-in guests, but the food comes out pretty promptly despite the rush. Another big highlight is how extremely well-priced everything is for the quality you're getting. The servers are friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience feel warm and relaxed. Overall, it was a truly lovely dining experience and one I would be soooo happily to return to. read more

Ham was dry, butter no taste at all and the Baguette was the worst in paris. I would never ever recommend this place. It's famous for nothing. I am so upset I went there. Don't go please any bakery has better sandwich in paris read more

What an awesome hole in the wall with great atmosphere and vibing French culture. This is the spot To go to for authentic French food and French atmosphere. We started with the homemade pate ( terrine) which was sourced with baguette and pickled olives / cucumbers. The pate was fantastic and we got a huge portion for the cost. We also tried the escargot which was flavorful but rather tiny. We got the duck confit which was good but bland, not unique enough to try here , tasted like any duck I have had. My friend got the burger and fries which was recommended. We had rice pudding for dessert which was surprisingly unique and very good . Highly recommend it. It was fluffy and light with a bed of light caramel on the Bottom. This place is so good and authentic, I really enjoyed it . They get busy quick and often require a reservation, interestingly they make exceptions for any women that come without a reservation but are quicker to turn men groups away , not sure if it's culturally related. I highly recommend this place overall , great food and vibe on a busy day. read more

We were denied service because our family is not Parisian. Unbelievably rude. Claimed they could not seat us without a reservation - that is after overlooking my family for locals that walked in after us and seated them immediately (confirming they did not have a reservation). Then the server continued to ignore us until we left (and also confirming we understand French). What a disappointment. We've been coming here since 2017 every time we visited Paris. Such a shame because their food is lovely. We would not recommend for tourists/Americans. There are many places in the area that do not discriminate. read more
This local Parisian joint gets packed! And just like a typical Parisian restaurant, know that it'll be a tight squeeze and you'll be shoulder to shoulder with the strangers at the next table. Our usual spot (Le Petit Pontoise) was closed on Tuesdays during our 20 hour layover. A chance to try another spot we found on YouTube courtesy of Les Frenchies! My bf had to get his foie gras fix, since it's banned in California. He said it was quite tasty. Kinda went downhill from there: the onion soup was super salty. The duck confit was dry and salty. The accompanying potatoes looked and smelled promising, but sadly we mushy. I left most of the dish untouched, and we try really hard not to waste food. The beef cheek stew was very tender, but it was also salty. The potatoes that came with it helped to even it out a bit. Reservations recommended! You can make them on their website. I made our reservation for 7pm on a weekday and by the time we were served our starters, the place was packed: both inside and out. Glad we got to try a new local place, but probably won't be back. read more

Came here on a Saturday around 1pm before a trip to the Louvre. Was pleasantly surprised not to see a line out the door for sandwiches. We opted for take out sandwiches as opposed to their sit down menu. Inside seemed small and crowded. We both ordered the special of the day which was goat cheese and prosciutto on a baguette for 8 euro - 100% what we needed and 100% would eat again. read more

Le Petit Vendome was our first lunch in Paris, and looking back was likely the most authentic, local place we ate at in Paris. We came on a Thursday for lunch in October, and the restaurant was full. The waitresses were welcoming and beckoned us inward to the back of the restaurant, where we were seated at a cozy table. Be aware that there are usually 2 lines! The one on the right, which is usually much longer, is for sandwiches (usually to go), and there is a separate line (usually shorter) to dine in. Between 2 people, we shared a salad with prosciutto, an order of 6 escargot, and a beef stew. Everything was tasty and well-made, although the escargot was on the salty side. We saw a few tables order the duck confit, which looked just as tasty. If you're covid-conscious in 2022, this place will definitely test the limits of your comfort. Tables are packed so close together you can easily reach over to the table next to you and grab their salt and pepper shakers, if you so chose. Despite how busy it was, we got our food quickly and the staff was great. It was clear that many locals eat here, so we were grateful to have found this spot! read more
This tiny, non pretentious, friendly neighborhood restaurant was just amazing! I made a lunch reservation for 2 online and asked for a window seat. Little did I know that we'd be seated by the door. The rest of the tables would leave you shoulder to shoulder with the other guests so I was just grateful my request was accommodated! The door table had its perks- no neighbors and I had the best view people watching during our meal. We stared across the counter which serves their famous sandwiches which many Parisiens lined up for. When you go, check out their daily special! We picked a Thursday for their beef bourguignon and it did not disappoint. Hubby is a huge onion soup fan so he's had 4 or 5 on this trip. This restaurant served his favorite. He thought their steak was good but was wowed by their peppercorn dipping sauce. Price is also resonable. We had all these food for under 50 euros. This is a spot you shouldn't miss but make sure to reserve ahead! read more
After a hurried trip to Galleries Lafayette, we were in the mood for a hearty meal. This place is pretty much what you'd imagine a quintessential French bistrot to be...early 20th Century decor, tables that were too close to each other, and about six different languages being spoken at any given time. When we first arrived there was only indoor seating, which was terrible because like most French restaurants, there's no AC. Fortunately the beer was cold and we were able to get outdoor seating once there was an opening. Unlike most Parisian restaurants, the food came out quick, about half a beers time. The rare tenderloin paired excellently with the peppercorn sauce; as a matter of fact, even the frites paired great with the sauce. Even though my French was terrible, the staff were very friendly and even provided me with an English language menu. I'd definitely give this place some repeat business the next time that I'm in town. read more

Such a gem this small, unpretentious neighborhood bistro was and seemingly well favored with the Parisians as well. Workers were pleasant and quite helpful getting all diners situated in their quaint dining area. Ordering from their menu was made easy for us foreigners. We had the French Onion Soup (scrumptious), Steak Tartare (rich with favorable texture), and the Duck Confit (a little dry). The French Onion Soup was an automatic favorite with its rich beef broth, carmelized onions and soft, fluffy bread soaked and layered with cheese. I understand that duck is difficult for even the French to perfect as was evident by the seemingly dry duck confit. Paired with a glass of a cheap Bordeaux promised us a relaxing evening which was met with such relaxed service. read more
