I was only supposed to be gone for the month of June, which would be cutting it close on the hair front but thought a couple days wearing a hat wouldn't kill me if need be. Only problem was, I was actually having fun in California and wanted to stay a bit longer than planned... All fine and good but now I desperately needed to bite the bullet and find a stranger to whip my hair back into submission. After having the same person doing my hair for the past 10 years, you all know what I'm talking about here, that person you found a groove with, who knows your hair and how you like it, was nowhere to be found... Yieks! What's a girl to do? I had a choice to make... Drive back to New York and cut my fun short, or take a chance on new stylist... How bad could it possibly turn out? With that thought the panic settled in and all the memories of disastrous hair cuts and highlight jobs from hell that peppered my youth came flooding back. Let's face it, it could get pretty bad! So like most New Yorkers I collected as much intel as possible to make an educated choice. However finding George was still a happy accident... My friend thought he was sending me a link to his stylist but sent the info for George's private salon instead. Out of all the wrong turns I took on my journey across the country, wrong turns that somehow usually brought about new and interesting experiences and people, George was the most right wrong turn I took! We started out small with some highlights and after I saw the outcome I immediately made another appointment for a cut the next day. Not only does George have a way with color and a pair of scissors but he also has a way with people. He was so patient with my worries and concerns, and with his stellar sense of humor, good nature and talent had me back in commission with a new short cut, great color and a smile to go along with it! Thank you George! I love my new look! So now my only question for you all is... Is it a good enough reason to relocate because you found a new great stylist??

The front of the shop is essentially a slightly-upscale barbershop with a few chairs, a shampoo sink, and a jeep chair for little kids. In the back is a small salon for womens' haircut and coloring. Tom works mostly in the front section. But most importantly, Tom gives a great haircut! I've been to a lot of places that charge 3-4x and it looks just the same. I want to start this review by saying I never leave bad reviews, but what's felt like such a let…read moredown and heartbreak, I had to share that this is NOT the place to go for ktip extensions. Over the past 6 weeks, I have now had 5 full ktip extensions just slide right off of my head. When the first 3 happened after only 4 weeks of wear, I talked to salon and explained how upsetting it is to spend so much money on the hair only for it to come off my head within such a short time frame. Keep in mind, the first time I got Ktips at a different salon in December, they lasted 4 MONTHS. Not a single one was out of place or even close to coming out. I asked very kindly after visiting another salon and getting a second opinion (the stylist looked at my head and said "yea these were installed so badly and unevenly) to have a refund. Not for the hair, the removal, or the highlights, only for the install. They refused to refund me a dime. They did offer for me to come by the salon and they would try and fix it, but I travel for work and will not be back in LA until the fall. But also how could I trust them to do a good job now? Now after loosing 5 total (easily 500 dollars worth of hair) I'm left with no choice but to share my experience and only try and help another person who maybe is like me, on a tight budget and really trying to make wise choices on what I spend on myself. My hair is part of my career and to see it falling out weekly is just so heartbreaking. I also run a business, and I know what it means to make a situation right, and I'd still love to give them the chance to make it right. I'd also like to say these women were SO nice to me when I was in the salon, but the treatment I received after the fact did not make me feel taken care of.
