Wonderful haircut! Great price! And some cool tips on follicle restoration (that I didn't even realize I needed!). This beautiful salon, tastefully recreated in an inviting Mar Vista backyard has everything you would expect at a high-end salon. The only difference is parking was easier, and there was no wait! Making the appointment was effortless. Noori was very kind, professional and incredibly knowledgable about all things hair. May have been my most enjoyabale haircut ever. Just came back from Noori's new garden salon :) My super fine blonde highlighted hair was done as fabulously as she always does it ( she also did my Gatsby wedding hair which was stunning !) DO NOT GO HERE. It's been a year since I got Yuko done by Noori. I told her I wouldn't write a yelp review if she cut off the damage when it grew out, which to her credit she did try. It's been a year and I'm still dealing with the damage she caused. These are AFTER photos attached. My hair was soft and healthy and beautiful before coming to this salon. I had gotten Yuko previously 6 times before moving to California and every time my hair remained healthy and soft with the addition of be straight. Noori assured me she was not only trusted to take care of my hair, she claimed she was one of the first taught in LA, saying "the Asians came to her first." She gave me some product (from a used bottle) to help with the damage but when I demanded my $ back she asked for the product back in return. I have spent hundreds of dollars and countless hours trying to fix the damage she created. I'm not sure if I'll ever get my healthy hair back. I see the yelp reviews calling her out and her denying the stories. I'm sure they are all true given the similarity in mine. If she tries to say mine is false, I will present more proof in retaliation. This business needs to be shut down. UPDATE: I still have to walk by this salon and I don't say anything or even look her way but if she sees me she runs out of the store and screams at me. Threatening me and swearing at me in front of everyone around. I don't yell back, I just take the abuse. All because she fried MY hair. read more

Needed my eyebrows cleaned up, there was nowhere else near Main Street open on a Sunday so I walked in here, rationalizing that most of the bad reviews on here weren't for eyebrow related services. i wish I had read the negative reviews on here more clearly before I did. The back "room" where the technician took me was filthy, with raggedy towels strewn about the chair and wax crusted machines nearby. She took almost 30 minutes to do a C+ job, literally looked like she did nothing and it took forever. Two stars because i guess she could have taken my entire eyebrow off, instead of wasting my time and $35. Went home to NYC to my regular spot and got it fixed for $8, so I will make sure to clean my brows up at home before I visit Santa Monica next time. read more

I went there twice. Once for threading and once for a full set of eyelash extensions. Threading for my upper lip was good, but she ruined my eyebrows! Never go there for eyelash extensions! It will ruin your lashes. She puts on synthetic thick looking lashes that look fake. She doesn't use different sizes to fill out the lashes, all the lashes are the same size. Looks un natural. And she glues one extension on many lashes which irritates and hurts your eyes constantly and makes it impossible for new lashes to grow. They feel very heavy and painful. read more

Horrible, horrible, horrible. All I wanted was my hair to go back to being the natural ash blonde that I was born with. Could they do this? Hells no they couldn't! I was told by Pedro, who spoke such oddly broken English that it was difficult to understand him at times, that ash colors are "impossible" to get via dying (regardless if this is your natural 'coooler' he said) and so he proceeded to dye my hair so dark it I looked like I was a dead girl. Not knowing anything about hair I took him at his word when he said I could only go darker. When I tried to have him lighten, he dumped peroxide on my head and left it there for 30 minutes then he dumped some coloring on it. I spent like $200 bucks only to see the color washing out after the first shampoo. Then my hair turned orange. When I asked for bangs, he gave me a 1/2 bowl cut. Other stylists in the shop never said anything negative about what this moron was doing to my hair. They were all "oooh that's so pretty". Uh huh. I finally left and found a place that really knows hair care. Now I have a great cut and, best of all, I have my natural ash blonde color back! Yay! Plus, I don't have to pay $5 in quarters for parking. Avoid this place! Or, if you feel you really must go here, for whatever reason, just don't see Pedro. He couldn't have done worse things to may hair if he had poured gasoline on my head and lit me on fire. Really. read more

She also made sure I knew what to do walking out the door in order to keep my hair purple for as long as possible. I am very happy with my first experience at Next Salon and I will be back again! I posted this to to google too because really do I love my hair and nails!!!! I had my hair dyed and trimmed by one of the stylist named Andrea and gentleman named Larry gave me a great pedicure. I highly recommend them!!! Andrea always makes me look like a million bucks. She is always very professional and a great conversationalist. And Larry has me dying of laughter every time. Only thing, you have to plan ahead for is the parking since main street is always active! It's always a hit and miss but if you're patient, you'll find something within walking distance of the salon. We had an appt with Andrea. Left home way early, just knowing how SM is. Parking was packed, we went around for several times, waited and waited on others to leave, even tried to park father from the place. No luck, that took over 45 minutes, everything happened well before our appt. No luck. Andrea was texting and calling, asking us to park behind a black Porsche, two cars in one spot. I explained I couldn't do that, that would be illegal and I would get a ticket for double parking and blocking the traffic. She even came outside of the salon, in the busy parking lot, insisting in directing me to park behind the black Porsche. We reached no agreement with parking; she said the parking spot was hers and I would get no ticket. I could not take the chance. Although we had appts for 2 people, we had to head back home without any hair done. Not professional and a waste of our day. Owner threatened us and deleted our initial post, see below: "Response from the owner: I do not know this person .Has never been in my business .what kind of person uses a baby monkey as profile picture? This salon has inspired to sign up for a Yelp account and NOT for a good reason! I went for a full leg and bikini wax and my therapist (Mary or Maria or whatever) ended up storming out the private room in a rage leaving the door wide open while I was half naked on the bed. She was using luke warm wax and the strips were sticking to my skin probably because of that reason. When I pointed out that she had missed some spots and could feel that the hair was breaking inside the skin it was then she decided that my hair was too short to wax. I can tell you that it was extremely and embarrassingly long after being left to grow for 2 months. But not as embarrassing as the things she went on to say in front of a salon of colleagues and customers. After looking me up and down she shouted that I just wanted something free and suggested I couldn't afford to pay PURELY based on my appearance! The salon's owner Noori stood by basically telling her everything was going to be alright while I was practically ignored while I tried to explain myself. Goodness knows why I was so calm! After remaining poised both inside the salon and in an email of complaint I received a call from Noori, defending her colleague and correcting my statement that the fact that she had been waxing for 20 years was irrelevant (she has actually been doing it for 25 in case you're interested). Unsympathetic to the fact that I had been subject to prejudice and was shamefully forced to walk out and all the way home with powder and thick wax all over my legs, she told me I could either come back to get the rest of my legs waxed for free but not the bikini - and that she would do it herself after her colleague publicly insisted that she 'doesn't want to touch me again' before turning her nose up at me. This really is a much longer story which details just how unprofessional and lazy they are at the salon but I wouldn't recommend going there for a wax or to be judged by your appearance. If their solution is for me to go back to probably increase my chances of ingrown hairs on my legs and then go to another salon to get a proper bikini wax treatment, they must be MAD to think I have the time! Unlike the terrible therapist suggested, I do have a job that pays me well enough to afford waxes but I can't be running up and down Main Street while I should be doing it! read more

I picked this salon for my wedding after 2 or 3 trial runs at other salons, because I thought I was saving money, with reasonable quality for hair and makeup. Next offered reasonable pricing both for me and the bridesmaids. On my wedding day, my hair did turn out beautifully, for about an hour until the curls wilted in church and the frizz showed. The stylist that did my makeup insisted on Aveda liquid foundation, which ended up streaking/running in church when I was sweating from how hot it was. My sister had to run up and wipe my face quickly for the photos, because it was that obvious. I have been wearing my own not so superior CVS Maybelline powder foundation for years, and have never had it run in the heat. Believe me, you do not want this type of drama on your wedding day, especially in front of your mother, sister, and childhood friend. You do not want to haggle with the owner who is billing you for an extra $150 than what she originally offered you a month ago, all in front of your family on your wedding day. The owner and main stylist at Next increased their pricing on my wedding day. They had offered excellent pricing a month earlier when I went for my trial run, but changed their word last minute as I went to the register to pay for everything at the end. It really put such a bitter taste in all our mouths just before the ceremony started. I paid them the higher prices that they demanded, since I was already late for the ceremony, and I really didn't want to get sucked into such a negative argument on my own wedding day. I wished at that moment that I had just gone to any of the other 3 beauty salons that wanted to charge me $50-$100 extra per person anyway, since I had not saved any money, and my curls wilted in church within 2 hours, and I had spent four hours getting patronized by such a transparent stylist. Oh, and they have no parking, so I had to send my sister out to pay the meter every hour for four hours. read more

I drive 20 miles for a haircut. One way. In L.A. traffic. That's how much I like this place, and how great Bab's haircuts are! She's styled rockstars and lawyers, and always knows what to do with my unruly hair. Next Salon is a bright, wide open space with friendly people, right on Main St, with a parking lot behind and plenty of restaurants around, just across Urth cafe. Im trying to grow my hair out and im finally at the point where i can do a cute a-line bob and my fave hairstylist wouldnt do it for me, she said it was too short, i was not convinced. My hairdresser of 13 years retired. It has been difficult to find her replacement until I found Tomoko at Next Salon in Santa Monica. I first met Tomoko as a walk-in customer in April for a Keratin Treatment. I went back to see her yesterday for color, highlights, and a trim. She was kind, had great energy, and a really fun personality. Best of all, she did a great job on my hair and I am so happy I found my new hairdresser. Highly recommend Jad for a keratin treatment. Definitely the best brazilian/keratin treatment I've had .. and I've had a lot!! Half wavy/half curly, fine and prone to frizz, I have a love/hate relationship with my hair that Jad thankfully turned back to love:) Either air dried or a couple minutes with the dryer and my hair now looks healthy and amazing! Even from the get go .. with prior treatments I've left the salon with super flat hair. Not pretty. This time I left with true salon-worthy hair - smooth, healthy, natural, beautiful .. Exactly what I wanted! Very happy with the entire process. Will definitely be going back! 2nd time with Jad .. after amazing results with the keratin treatment, I went back for a trim. I trusted him to do his thing, which says a lot because I get extremely anxious about hair cuts. And he rocked it!
