Honestly very disappointed both times I have gone here. The first time I went, it was literally snowing outside and I was rudely told I could not wait for a table inside. I thought he was kidding, but no, I really had to wait outside in the freezing cold for a table. As the other reviews say, the food is delicious. I love the pancakes, but it is not worth how rude the employees are. I went for the second time today, and waited for over 30 minutes (with just one other person) for a table. There were many small tables that opened up that would have been perfect for us but we were ignored when we asked if we could sit there. A place that I was hoping would open in Florence. I've been here twice and I have to say, each time was an awesome experience. This new brunch and lunch north american type restaurant is just what this city needs. Beautiful inside decor that reminds me of my hometown, very cozy and perfect for escaping from rainy days. The first time I visited, I got the mexican black bean soup which was exactly what I hoped it would be. The cilantro and spices were on par with something I myself would make (and I am half mexican ;-). I would say, for the price - I would add bread or tortilla chips or something as a side. I always feel that soup as a main course needs a 'friend' if you know what I mean. The second time I went to Le Vespe, we indulged in the brunch menu, eggs, bacon, pancakes french toast - you name it, we probably ordered it. Everything was perfect and they even had real Canadian maple syrup which I would have licked from the bottom of the plate if possible. I also tried their lemon poppy cake which was really good! If you are in Florence missing brunch and American coffee (it happens), you must come here. I've had the pancakes with Maple Syrup, and the Huevos Rancheros and was beyond satisfied. They have smoothies, fresh juices, English Breakfast, pretty much as North American Brunch as it gets in Florence. I used to pop in when I was in the neighbourhood to grab a take away cup of coffee, which is also very exotic here. (Their coffee is tasty and very caffeinated). I had dinner here for the first one last night as part of a Yelp event and was blown away by the cod cakes. You will not regret ordering these fluffy golden clouds of flavour. We tried the kimchee rice, falafel, and a spicy potato and vegetable curry. Everything was hearty, spicy, and satisfying. My sisters and I loved this little place. It was a nice brunch with certain non-Italian elements, like the fact it was more of a breakfast meal than a brioche. But, it still had enough Florentine-esque qualities that kept me in the city -- in particular, the exceedingly kind owner who shared some useful information for us as travelers. We ordered a couple white wines (the owner brought two different kinds to let us try), cappuccinos, a flat white and caramel coffee. All delicious. For our meals, we got the eggs with spinach & feta, the French toast with maple syrup (one of the owners is Canadian!) and the grilled cheese & bacon sandwich. Each came with a light salad and some very tasty potato. All around a pleasant late morning -- be mindful that tourists will naturally be alongside locals eating here, like most of Florence. We have come back to Le Vespa twice since being in Florence. You really can't go past the food and coffee here. On the first day we had the granola and the annex breakfast. The fruit used with the granola was perfectly ripped. The star of the food is the bacon and sliced potatoes that come with the savoury breakfasts. The second time my husband and I came back, I had the Logan breakfast wrap. This wrap was amazing with its eggs, sausage, avo, cheese and this tasty Mexican sauce. Then we get to the coffee. You have to have a cold drip ice coffee. They use beans from Guatemala that have sensational after taste. They use different arabica beans for their espresso, which have a good depth to the coffee. The prices are more then reasonable for the portion sizes. The staff are extremely friendly. We will probably be back for breakfast tomorrow! read more

We wanted a break from Italian food and this was the right place to do this. As soon as I walked in, I got the vibe that this is a popular study/hangout spot for Americans studying abroad in the city, and I can definitely see why. The cafe is decorated with books, intriguing artwork, and kitschy gadgets. The ceiling has exposed wooden beams, and half of the room even has wallpaper. The decor, good variety of music, and friendly, English-speaking staff all contributed to a wonderful experience. I ordered the yogurt with granola and fresh fruit, plus a side of eggs, and everything looked beautiful and tasted perfect. It was just the right portion size for a good price. My friend ordered eggs with spinach and feta, which came with toast and house fries, in addition to a matcha latte, and she raved about it all. If you're looking for an "authentic" Italian experience, this probably isn't the place to go, but Florence is extremely artsy and international, so this cafe is a perfect addition.
