My family and I found this place through yelp after vacationing in Italy few days. There is a wait time but it goes by fast. It is a little tight for big groups but we made it work. This place really deserves an extra star, but I will explain why I can't give it up. Le Vespe is an adorable, quaint cafe with a great menu. Lots of healthy options, eggs, avocado toast, potatoes, mimosas, smoothies, fresh juices... great for brunch. I had the Logan breakfast wrap and my husband had the Finch sandwich. Everything was amazing.....until I found a huge long black hair in my sandwich. Appetite lost. I spit it out and we left almost immediately. This place has so many great things, but our experience was memorable in the worst way. That's the only reason I can only give it 3 stars. This is an amazing breakfast spot in Florence. Although it's not your typical European breakfast if you're craving your typical American brunch while you're traveling this is your spot. It's got a really great atmosphere with all your favorite brunch items you love at home. Breakfast burritos, avocado toast, smoothies, juices and better coffee than your cup o joe back home. It was packed with mostly travelers and lots of college students. The servers were amazingly nice and overall it was the breakfast I was craving while traveling. I had a rough start of my time in Florence, so I was a bit worn coming in here. Their menu brightened my evening right away though! Often in tourist areas the restaurants give what the tourists want. Nothing wrong with that at all. However, Le Vespe Cafe is different. It's a cafe that I'd go to if I was local, probably with more than myself next time. The items on the menu spanned a lot of different tastes. Japanese, Firenze, Montreal (poutine), etc. It's tapas, mid-size servings. And they have a very fun selection of juices and shakes, some of which vegan (no daily for me). I got the kaarage fried chicken (marinated in ginger, garlic, and soy) with a sesame seed dipping sauce. I also snagged an Avocado Passion shake (avocado, cucumber, apple, banana, agave, and soy milk). The shake was 5; the chicken a 4. The chicken seasoning / marinate didn't come through. The shake came and went :) This is a vegan and gluten-free friendly cafe. And they still like the omnivores. Well rounded, good spot to bring 2-4 people. Enjoy! read more

I've been here twice now because it was one of the few places I knew of near me serving American style breakfast. The food is decent but not anything mind blowing. HORRIBLE service. I've never been treated like that in a restaurant, ever. They were openly making racist remarks about my friends and in Italian to the couple sitting next to us and the server was extremely sarcastic and rude. Will not ever be returning! I just love this place... Been there today with a friend for a late brunch and the food was divine, so was my vanilla soy latte and the takeaway tea we grabbed while leaving (so rare in Florence!). My boyfriend and I were only in Florence for 4 days but 3 out of those four, we frequented this cafe.. sometimes twice in one day even!! not to say that Italian food isn't good, but if you're trying to stay away from such a heavy meal and want some good English food, this place is GREAT. If you want a nice healthy classic brunch or lunch, go here! The place itself reminds me of something I'd find in Brooklyn because it is so cute and charming. The staff is so friendly and they speak English very very well although like any restaurant, try to use the Italian words you know out of respect.
