I have passed this place everyday on my way home from work but by that time it was closed. I finally had the time to stop one day and try this place out. I went in and was able to get my order in right away. The service was good as the counter person took my order. Then I had to wait about 20-30 minutes for my order as it seems like they cook to order. I ordered an 8-piece mixed box. It comes with chicken and rolls. No sides as all sides are sold separately. I finally got my order and got home to try this chicken. It was crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. A good start. The chicken had great flavor but was very salty. The food is always fantastic. I ordered a sweet tea but the cashier said they were out. I asked For a cup for some water and she charged me. She was not rude but not friendly at all. Everyone who came in after me got their food right away I had to wait and when I got here they were making chicken but I got an old piece of chicken a breast. And they didn't give me a roll and I paid .75 cents for a pepper that was so small that I should've got 2 just poor service. read more

Best fried chicken I've had in a long time. The breast was juicy and very, very crispy, fried to perfection. Small serving of coleslaw, my husband wanted more as we generally don't eat French fries. Service was not fast food~15 min but I didn't mind the wait. I saw people eating thin cut fried fish that looked yummy and the thick cut fries looked good too, so we may have to break our rule and try them. Will definitely make this a regular dinner spot. read more

slow service, unfriendly to customers Called in order at 4:15, before evening rush. was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. arrived at location at 4:28, wait behind vehicle in line for 8 minutes. Finally get to window and not greeted by vertically challenged women sitting on stool. Was told that my order will take an additional 7 minutes to cook and if I would mine pulling in front of the store. I pulled in front of store and waited an additional 11 minutes before my order was delivered to me. Leader's has been in Ascension Parish for as long as I can remember and they've always served some of the absolute best fried chicken you'll find. My personal favorites are the chicken fingers, their sauce and their coleslaw. Everything is always seasoned perfectly super fresh so you may wait a while for your food, but it's SO worth it! P.S. Their fried catfish is also so dang good AND they have the "good ice" for your drinks! read more

The food is great, I typically order the chicken nuggets, fried okra, and fries. The sweet ketchup is so good! My only complaint is when they get busy, they leave the phone off the hook, but I've driven in the parking lot and called with only 1 or 2 cars in line, & they will still leave the phone off the hook (no longer allow you to dine in at this time). They've had a hard time getting staff to work lately. read more

Went in today for our 3 rd time. Was not impressed. The chicken was not really seasoned. The onion rings were over cooked and hard. The staff forgot my order and after i checked on (about 10 people after me received their order) it i still had to wait additional time for my order. I think i waited about 40 minutes. No-one even apologized Each time we have been here we were not impressed. First time was at closing so we figured we would give it another shot. I hadn't eaten at this location in a long time. The chicken fingers (which are really nuggets) live up to my expectation. I've been eating Leader's my whole life. I moved away from Louisiana nine years ago, and very often crave them. Additionally, I enjoy their fried okra, and their signature sauce is always delicious. I usually order 2-3 extra sauces. My friend ordered their onion rings, which I had never had. I don't typically enjoy onion rings because people's breading differ so much; however, these might be the best onion rings I've ever had. The fried chicken is just ok at best. The tenders are very small morsels and sometimes so dry they are painful to eat. The last two times we visited they were out of chicken! We had to wait 20 minutes only for the server to tell us they used all the chicken for other orders that we would have to wait another 20 minutes for chicken. Not worth the wait I can assure you. The onion rings are tasty and the fried okra is a nice change from fries since their fries are not the best. But the coleslaw is a killer, so good and sweet and has raisins. Their sweet ketchup sauce is so much better than any other dipping sauces but they do charge for extra. They are located in a strip mall with a very basic interior and old style hard booth tables. You have to call ahead and place your order before using the drive through window. read more

Placed a phone order at 4 pm for a 6 pm pick up. Food wasn't ready at 6 because they lost the ticket. That happens and I get that. What gets the 1 star is the rude staff. I was treated as an inconvenience and was never given an apology for the food not being ready until 6:45 read more

Ok now I'm picky about my chicken. Must me really crispy on the outside but still juicy on the inside. All parts of it, not just the dead center. Leaders got it going on. So you get the idea, I order inside, I see tones of fried chicken coming out the frier but still have to wait "my chicken to cook"... My first visit I didn't understand that. Why can't I just have the chicken I see right, and I happen to be the only person in the restaurant. Well, there drive through window is alway revolving and all that chicken was for people placing endless to go orders!
