The tenders are white meat, but very much still juicy. And the fried coating is flavorful and crispy. I am not as fond of the one in Gonzales, but maybe that's just me. We ordered the children Fingers, however didn't realize that they call the little chicken nugget bites they serve chicken finger until we got home & didn't have enough nuggets for our gang. I had to go back, after my nephew called & asked about a family tray, which is originally what I tried to order, but was told that they didn't offer family trays, except for their French Fry trays. Very disappointed!! The ONLY thing not soaked in salt was the fish. The fish pieces were so small and had NO flavor. Just regular frozen pre-battered fish strips. July 2, 2023 I placed an order for 3pcs special $6.54 w/tax there was a lady working the drive thru that appeared to be less knowledgeable about the charge credit/ debit card which was asking for additional tip to added. She ran my card several times as I repeatedly informed her that my card was being charged because I was getting notifications from my bank. She told me no ma'am its not going through, so after seven attempts at this and she wanted to try an eight and I said, "No ma'am here's $10 bill!" received my change and drove-off. The following day I went back into the store and spoke with a very nice mgr on duty and explained to her, showed her my actual receipts, charges on my bank statement. So, the lady who made the illegal charges stood-bye just watching us talking nice to each other and she never said a word about nothing, no apologies. The MOD ask me to give them until the next day so that the accountant could check all the transactions of $56.34 No one ever followed up with a phone call, text nor did they return the money charged to my debit charge. It's now have been two weeks and nothing from this company has happened yet with the charges and they don't plan to return my money, so I called them and the manager today asked for all kinds of proof but he could see where this crazy lady charged me seven times and said nothing was there on there end. He refused to return my money asking for my personal bank statement to be given to them. Are you kidding me Sir. So, now I have to file a complaint with BBB, the Gonzales PD for theft and also with my banking facility, but its worth it when you deal with uneducated personal. Meanwhile he was given all the information and had it in his possession and said, yes ma'am we dropped the ball on this and still wanted more proof of purchases made on my card. After waiting in the drive through line, I learned (from a small sign in the window) that they do not take orders in the drive through. It is only for orders that have been previously called in. Makes perfect sense for efficiency but More AND larger signs along the drive through route would have been helpful and prevented my frustration with them. read more

This place use to be GOOD, but now it SUCKS. This was not the first time I had problems at Leaders. First time my fish was dry and crumble up. They have me a small for a Large. Wanted me to bring it back, and get th pieces I was missing. And was RUDE. But, I didn't have no way. They should have replace the whole order. Then went back three months later, for 3 Large fingers. I Call in got there 15 minutes like they said. Had to wait, at the window 15 minutes. Was missing fingers, have us no rolls, and was cold. Wanted m e to bring it back. Hey, I don't have no way. I feel that I must write this review because it's been a long time coming. I have eaten at Leader's many times over the last 20-30 years. The food was excellent when Newton Leader was alive and operating the place. But gradually over the years the quality has gotten worse and worse. So i was eating here less and less. My husband and I have eaten here for the very last time after this evening. We ordered a large fish with dirty rice and a small side of fried okra. Let me just say the taste and quality of all of it was terrible. The fish were cheap cuts of very, very thin catfish (maybe) could be Basa. Look that up - you really don't want to be eating that. The dirty rice was just meh and the okra was nothing special or even hot. Even the packaged tartar sauce was just white colored oil in a pack. Terrible! The best thing about the whole meal was the roll and the fountain drinks. And I'm not going to even start on the chicken nuggets. Here's a hint - the menu says they are chicken fingers, if that's a finger it's only the knuckle. Like I said the quality of the food is atrocious. So all I have left to say is "LEADER'S THANKS BUT NO THANKS"! You've gotten your last dime from us. You're a pathetic shell of the place you use to be and Newton is probably rolling over in his grave. May he rest in peace! read more

quality of food is very good. WE actually prefer it over Popeyes. However, there speed of service is sub par. I walked in tonight at 720, didn't walkout with order until 810, 50 minutes wait. I love the chicken , I were very disappointed with the service on 10/11/22 at 1:15 pm. I were in line with a ten minute wait because of the cars ahead of me. I were on my way to work, upon getting to the window, I were told that if I had not call in an order , that I would have to place an order at the window and get back in line. My order was only fried chicken, nothing else, there were 4 cars behind me and I told the lady at the window that I were on my way to work, it made no different to her. First time here. This is the way fried chicken should be made!! It's outstanding! Obviously a local favorite, even the late lunch crowd was plentiful. Prices are better than typical fast food fried chicken. Leaders is much better! They have local favorites like homemade rice dressing, chicken gizzards, fried okra and okra rings. Everything I tried was outstanding - this is my new favorite place for fried chicken. Nothing spectacular about the building; it's a local mom-and-pop restaurant. Spoke with 'manager' Mikayla regarding unsalted fries. Never have I not been able to request this in all the years I've been coming here. To tell me you can't because you don't want to fry fresh fries is lazy and poor customer service. Not to mention you hung up!!You rather lose a long time customer behind some salt; says a lot about what you think of my business. They are super slow. Give you a time but then make you wait twice that long. If chicken isn't ready when ordered, say so.

We used to pick up and waitr here a lot but not anymore. We've also been in contact with waitr multiple times because of issues with this place. The food is always over cooked and cold. This was one of our favorite places to eat but the prices aren't worth trying to eat here anymore. read more

i used to do a lot of business with leaders. today may have ended it. on monday and tuesday you can get 4 legs and 4 thighs for 5.00. today, thursday, i went in and had to pay the full price for the same thing. (10.89 plus tax) i wasn't too upset with that. only they ripped me off. instead of getting 4 thighs and 4 drumsticks, they gave me 4 thighs, 2 drumsticks, and 2 drumet.
