I called for my 1st appointment and specifically asked if they direct bill ABC i was told yes and made the appointment. I was assessed and had treatment. The receptionist asked me to pay for the appointment because the physiotherapist wasnt registered with ABC! I asked why i was not told that when i booked the appointment or when i came in for the appointment and that my ABC info was on my documentation. She said sorry you will have to submit manually this time. I asked when he will be ABC approved. After a complicated knee replacement in February 2026 I attended physio 5 days a week for 2 months at Capilano. The reason I chose this particular clinic was to use the Biodex machine to increase my range of motion. It did not disappoint even tho I had to live outside of my home community for 2 months. I was told it is the only machine in Canada situated in a physio clinic. The Capilano staff from the front desk right through to other therapists and assistants are warm and welcoming. Arjun, my physio therapist was skilled and engaging while always focused on my recovery and increased range of motion. I highly recommend him. His assistant Ava was so kind and personable. As well as physio I utilized other gym equipment in addition to the Biodex. This included a treadmill developed by NASA that can reduce your weight for walking. Allie, the kinesiologist is helpful and engaging. When I have a second knee replacement in about 12 months, it will also be a complicated procedure. I've been to Capilano Rehab Clinic three times now for a shoulder issue. I was referred by my doctor and I'm so happy I ended up with Christy as my physiotherapist. Not only is she funny, she plays a lot of 80s rock which I'm into. And one time she made her team sing along with her to Oh Caroline LOL. But the main thing that I loved about visiting this clinic is that she was able to identify my issue within a few minutes and set me up with exercises straight away to help fix the problem. The waiting area is cosy with lots of space for winter boots, you can see to the gym which is always busy with patients. The reception staff are friendly and helpful. There is a blackboard with funny quotes or a joke of the day to give you a giggle while you wait for your appointment. Christy's area is a nice room with 6 beds and curtains to separate them so you have a bit of privacy while you are there. She usually has three or four people in at a time and sets you up with heat or whatever treatment you need while she assesses the next. It's quite efficient! The room is clean and I like to get the spot with the painting of Jimmy Hendrix. Anyway better get back to those exercises.... read more

If you're looking for a place for physiotherapy, I suggest you look elsewhere. I came for an assessment of a joint problem, and based on my experience I will not be returning for further treatment. Any diligent health professional doing an initial assessment on a new patient will take the time to ask not only about the specific concern and it's etiology (how it happened), but how this concern fits in the patient's life and functioning. This was definitely not my experience with the Physical Therapist (PT) at Capilano Rehab. The PT I saw did not do this, despite all the signs around the clinic touting her advanced education (and therefore higher fees). She instead spent her assessment time with me talking at me about TV shows and how Justin Timberlake is coming to Etown (I don't even watch TV, and seriously, who cares??). She asked me minimal basic questions about my injury and it's history. I told her some things, like the quality of the discomfort and its impact on my work life, but would have appreciated more discussion about lifestyle/movement modification since I work out, play contact sports etc. Her talk quickly turned superficial as she did minor manipulations for about 10 minutes before moving on to the next person, obviously a regular with whom she loudly discussed her latest Netflix obsessions. PRO TIP: don't treat new patients the same as your regulars, maybe get to know them first?!?? My "treatment" then consisted of 15 minutes of TENS. TBH the evidence for TENS is a bit nebulous - works for nerve pain override, but I don't have nerve pain. I wasn't told by the PT this was the plan, nevermind why. I'd never had TENS before, so good thing I know what it is. TENS can make some people feel dizzy or even pass out, so again the basic assessment and treatment discussion was lacking. The male assistant who put the TENS on me didn't say anything about it, but did show me how to adjust the machine intensity. I got the impression he thought everyone gets TENS automatically and they all find it to provide miracle relief. I asked him which buttons controlled what electrodes (like upper or lower) and despite having placed them on my body moments earlier, he didn't know. So he guessed. He guessed wrong. Sigh. Then when he took them off he effused about how great TENS is. I felt no different for its use, because really I don't think it's indicated for my particular injury. All in all a less than stellar experience. My friend who used to go here for years switched providers recently because she felt the place had "started to go downhill". I think I'll stick to my highly knowledgable sports masseuse and my workout coaches. Sad that they seem to have more helpful and relevant suggestions for my recovery than someone with a Master's degree charging $100+ per hour. Maybe if I was a couch potato my experience would have been better! read more

Wow. First visit for a long term issue and very impressed. Lovely front desk staff. Could see their gym through the window and was impressed. Everyone seemed upbeat and pleasant. My therapist MJ and her assistant were both terrific. MJ found my "issues" with her very accurate finger probe. Ouch but oh yes! Through some manipulation she was able to give me a degree of relief I hadn't felt in a number of months. I've tried chiropractic and ortho massage, both temporarily helpful, but I feel that MJ will be able to rectify my issues. She's given me some very doable exercises, so I believe I've come to the right place for therapy. This is not just a bandaid approach. This is a fairly extensive clinic, and although I don't know all their services I suspect whatever modality they use would be very helpful. read more

Wow so I go some how hurt my shoulder and I saw my family doctor he sent me for x-rays and as well as he gave me some cream for my shoulder as well. He also recommended that I have some physio therapy done on it. So I went to Capilano Rehab Physical Therapy right by where I live. 5832 Terrace Rd NW, Edmonton, AB T6A 3Y8 Phone #: 780-466-1104 so I get in there and hand the receptionist the request from my doctor to have physio done on my shoulder and the first thing she asks me is if I was on any kind of Government assistance program. I explained to her that I am on AISH here in Alberta and she said oh well the next appointment that I have available is November 3 2017 that is 11 days way still I said well do you have anything sooner. She said we do but if you want one of those appointments you would have to pay out of pocket then. I am like wow really? The place has setup a two tier system if you are paying out of pocket you get priority treatment and if you are on any kind of assistance you get treated like shit! That is clearly discrimination under the Alberta Human Rights Act section 4 you can NOT discriminate against some one due to source of income which is what this place is doing. If you pay out of pocket you get in sooner and if you are on any kind of government assistance you have to wait 11 days just to get in.
