While reading I saw that Metric in Chicago was on the list. And that was the sign this place had to be a must try! Came here on a Saturday morning. I walked a few miles from downtown to the neighborhood this place is in. It is in an industrial part town of area. Kind of reminds me of the west bank of the flats area or temont type of area we have in Cleveland. The shop itself is not very big. However the coffee, is absolutely incredible. While there I met Cara . She was so friendly and knowledgeable. I mentioned that the reason for making the walk to this place was to see how it measured with award of top 100 shop. From there I got my espresso. Amazing. Just amazing! Cara also took the time explain the cupping process. And how Metric gets their beans. The educational experience for a coffee nerd like myself was . And then getting a chance to do the cupping was icing on the cake!!! I'm very glad that I got to experience this gem of a shop. These two cashiers need more coaching on QA quality assurance is important when it's not included it causes customer service to drop quite a bit. I love a specialty latte so the Honey Bee latte caught my eye and oof, delicious but maybe a little too sweet for me. I think with an extra shot of espresso and a little less sweetener it would have been PERFECT, but as is, it was just a little too weak and a little too sweet. My friend got the banana coffee from the same specialty menu and felt the same way. This is one of her favorite spots in town, so definitely good coffee and worth another visit, but I might stay away from the specialty drinks menu. We also got a spanakopita as a quick bite and that was a hit!
