I purchased a leaf filer gutter guard. My complaint is not with the product or the installer. The salesman told me that they are only given me 5% off for senior and 5% off for military. I purchased them on Monday and Tuesday they were installed. Wednesday I look on the site it says 10% off for seniors and 10% off for military. I called the company and and talk to Michael Evers he told me you signed the contract. It only 5% seniors and 5% for military. I said on your site it said 10% for seniors and10% military. Their customer service is appalling; they rarely answer the phone and almost every time I called I got a recorded message. Asked me twice, after telling him I didn't know he told me $7,000, for a small ranch house. When I said no way, he said $2,000 to reinforce and seal the existing gutters. They talk a great story in the sales pitch, but don't expect much from them after that. I had Leaf Filter gutter protection installed on my 2-story house in the Fall of 2017. I was told at the time that if I ever needed my roof and/or gutters replaced to contact them and they would remove them prior to the work and re-install them after. This Spring we had a hail storm pass thru damaging our roof and gutters. I tried unsuccessfully for 4 weeks to get Leaf Filter out to remove my gutter covers despite numerous promises and being passed around to many different people and office locations. I finally got Leaf Filter to agree to let me have the roofers remove the covers and I was told the warranty would still be in effect if I had Leaf Filter reinstall them. It took me 6 weeks and numerous broken promises to finally get them out to reinstall the covers after my new roof and new gutters were in place. During those 6 weeks we had several storms pass through our area. Due to the wooded area I live in I had to get up on a ladder and clear the gutters 3 different times. As a senior citizen there is a fair amount of risk in my doing this, but the gutters were overflowing from the rains and to prevent damage to my home I had no choice. I would not have had to do this even once if Leaf Filter had lived up to their commitment. The final straw was after this frustrating experience I was billed $450 for the re-installation. Decided to have LeafFilter system. The first quote that was given to was was well over 12,000.00. We decided not to have all of the house installed instead we decided to have the gutter system installed for half of the house. The total footage was 156 feet, which came out to be 26.00 per foot. After researching the internet the average cost for the product is anywhere between 7.50 and 12.00 per foot. The sales rep was only after one thing that being a profit. Currently I found 6 inch gap between to of the panels I have called customer service several times however I have not received a phone call from them . I called the representative and did not get a response. I am very unhappy about the price we were ripped off. So I would suggest do your homework first. They are only after you pocket book. I think I've fallen victim to a bait and switch operation. I am a senior citizen and a widow. There should be laws in place to curb and prevent fleecing of the elderly. Thank goodness for Yelp and BBB. I hope this review spares someone the anguish I incurred. Leaf Filter and I signed a contract. It specifically stated that Leaf Filter would repair, realign and reseal gutters as needed and install hidden brackets as needed. The salesperson (also aka estimate guy) assured me my house was ready for the installation based on his inspection my home was ready for the Leaf Filter installation: all systems go! They installer came, started the work and about forty-five minutes into the labor stopped and said to me that he could not finish because my gutters were too old and rusting (Conditions he admitted should have been assessed and discussed in the pricing for task completion), but admittedly a practice not routinely enforced by the home office. He stated that I needed all new gutters; If I wanted to proceed, Leaf Filters would gladly sell me, at a considerable additional price, new gutters; to which he just conveniently had on him and/or had nearby access even though he was sent in from Minnesota. I called to complain. Mike, the Operations Manager, was all too familiar with the salesperson making these pricing and contracting errors and to make matters worse, he audaciously was rude and arrogant throughout our entire discourse. To be honest, he projected belligerence and he presented as a prevaricator that did a lot of projecting, but that's my subjective belief about his demeanor and lack of professionalism and sorely needed people skills. He admitted the salesperson was too old to climb ladders thereby making it improbable that the salesman was capable of properly making adequate inspections and the subsequent assessments. Sidebar: (get someone "young'" or capable enough to do the job required or get the elderly an assistant) The likelihood of a customer needing new gutters was an admitted common occurrence for Mike. He conceded the company knows of the salesman's limitations and this familiar issue of improperly estimating costs. Could this be deliberate? Mike told me the salesperson didn't want to get on a ladder any more than I wanted to climb one and I should give him (the salesman) a break. Huh?! Unsatisfied with my responses from Mike, I called corporate. His supervisor, James, later told me the salesman clearly wrote the contract wrong since the salesman hadn't really inspected for an estimate; nevertheless, the company was not going to eat the cost of providing me gutters. He apologized for Mike being discourteous but agreed with Mike that they would not stand by their contract, a fact Mike had driven hard when I told him, I'd take my complaint to corporate. In summation, I feel scammed. This is fake advertising to say the least! No small print, they just don't honor their contract. They sell half of what you need up front knowing you'll have to buy more to get the job completed. This clearly explains why the starting price was $9,672.00, but allegedly with negotiations, coupons and discounts the bottom line was $4,400.00. Mike even offered to install them on the existing system. I agreed and said "but if it fails or clogs the contract says you'll repair it and refund my money." He rescinded the factious offer he shouldn't have made considering the liable constraints before him. This feels like a "scam" for fleecing the elderly and women who admit they don't know much about gutters. My salesman sold me on the system by telling me the horrors of not having Leaf Filter at my defense. The aforementioned James said he was going to cancel my contract because they were not going to honor it by supplying my with the necessary new gutters at their cost ,even though he acknowledged the error on the salesman's part and that the terms of the contract possibly, if not probably, inferred in the wording of the contract, they could be held liable for providing them because of their negligence in under/wrongfully estimating and writing the contract that supports a "scam" or intent to defraud, mislead, or mischaracterize their overall intent for the price and terms to which they committed to in both oral and written agreements. The contract, which by the way does not mention any exclusions or exceptions regarding the condition of the homeowner's home is looking and feeling more and more like a two-part scam. I just had these installed on our house and the installers did not live up to the contract. According to the sales pitch we heard 3 times saying they would "completely clean, caulk and pitch the gutters before installing covers". During the visit by the sales associate he mentioned it was their slow season and it was difficult to keep all their crews busy. Well they came and installed them and when I got home from work that evening I noticed that the leaves were just plucked out and thrown on the ground and I decided to take a cover off and see what the gutters looked like and they weren't "completely clean, caulked and repitched" so we contacted the sales associate and he said he would put a ticket in for a crew to come back out the next day to rectify the situation. Nobody came or called so we called and were told someone would come on Saturday afternoon and if not a manager would contact us on Monday and none of that happened. I called my credit card and told them to cancel the transaction but it was already pending and has now gone through. I'll attempt to be brief but inclusive. My system was installed end of December 2021. As I don't open drapes in dining room during winter living on a corner with winds from all sides and a huge Bow Window, I didn't see that water was on the 2nd glass of my 4 pane Bow Window. When I noticed it, I called, was given an appointment for Tues. April 26th, 8AM-Noon. At 12:15 no call to say they were running late, I phoned service and was told they would check on why and get back to me. Today Apri 28th at 10:05 AM I get an unknown phone call from an 'unscheduled' repairman that he was here to check on it. He said I did not need to come out. I returned to my computer with a cup of coffee and about 10-15 mins. later I look out, and the 'repairman has gone without a word, left no paperwork, made no phone call on what he found or what he had done - just left'. I then called him back on the phone # he used to call me and HE refused to answer. I left a message. He never called back. I look at reviews for this division and it appears I am NOT alone in my issue(s) with this location. After this I've spent the better 3+ hours trying to reach them via email and phone. BE AWARE, they don't list their "individual phone numbers for the addresses listed on their form" and I will be looking into whether this is legal or not. I don't think it is. That said, I called the one number they CLAIM to be of help (Customr Service), but let me remind you, that's the same one that Scheduled the Appointment, so.... I used the number anyway, spoke with Mike who was quite resourceful; however I neglected to ask him for the location of the contractor that worked on my job and so I phoned again. I get Aurelieus who would not answer that question, but had NO problem in just hanging up the phone on me. I now call back again and this time I didn't need to go thru the options, but I did reach a very courteous, helpful and professional lady named Sarah who provided me with the information I needed in my effort to inform Corporate Office in (write this down): Hudson, Ohio 1595 Georgetown Road I am now waiting to see if Mike's efforts to help me will be addressed. If this company will show up, if this company will as required provide paperwork for any service they provide (initially or in follow-up). What they wont tell you is what they will not do. I was told they would completely clean my gutters prior to install and that all our issues would be solved. Well did you know that if your gutter downspout runs underground and re-pops up at the end of your lawn that they don't consider that to be part of your downspout? I didn't! I'm not an expert in terminology on where a "downspout ends". We even told the sales guy our specific issue of why we were hiring them. They then made it worse clogging my "downspout under ground" when they did their cleaning and the next rain storm we had pooling of water at the corner of our house. On 09/24/2021 I met with a sales rep from Leaf Filter. I was initially quoted 7,040.00 for the gutter guards. I told the sales rep thanks for his time at which point he asked me what was the most I was willing to pay? I told him I would be willing to spend 4,000.00 due to the fact that I had special metal gutters on a sun room addition. He agreed to this price and guaranteed me a lifetime warranty and related that the work would be completed on 09/24/2021. 09/24 the installer arrived and did a pre inspection of the gutters and informed me that the gutters attached to the sunroom were a specialized gutter and that he could not guarantee this work. He then called his supervisor named Brian and put him on speaker phone at which point he related the same information that he could not guarantee this work as it is a special gutter. Brian then related that he would attempt to contact the supervisor of the Lombard Illinois location to see what can be done about this. After 15 minutes Brian called his installer at which time I spoke to him and he related that he was unable to get in contact with his boss and asked me what I wanted to do, I explained to him that I was given a guarantee by the salesman and that if he could not guarantee this work I wanted my order cancelled. Brian then related that he would inform his supervisor who is also named Brian that I wished to cancel this order. At 920 A.M. the supervisor Brian called me and asked how I was doing I told him not good and that I was upset that I was lied to by the salesman who said I would have a lifetime guarantee on gutter guards. Brian then related that he would deduct 30 feet off the price and related that the new price would be 3600.00 and that he would still have his installer put the gutter guards on and that he just would not guarantee it should a problem arise in the future. At this point I told him no thanks and that I wanted this order canceled. At this point Brian told me that I would have to pay a restock fee of 25% and asked me how I wished to pay the 1,000.00 dollar restock fee. I told him I would not pay this fee and that I would contact the BBB and corporate. This was by far the worst customer service I have ever received and would not recommend this company to anyone. I was lied to and then threatened with a restock fee after receiving a written contact that clearly stated lifetime transferable warranty. At the end of the conversation Brian agreed to guarantee this work for 3000.00 and the installer returned and told me he has never done an install on a specialized gutter like mine and related that he would figure out and that he would have to put the screen under the shingle and screw the screen to the gutter. I was told by there sales rep. that no damage would be done to my newer roof yet i found torn shingles and screws through some of them to hold them down i guess. Also communication was very poor. Called leaf filter they sent a representative Stephen to our house he sat at our kitchen table and told us all about their product and the guarantees. One of my biggest concerns is to make sure they did not have any subcontractors and they did the installation themselves. He assured me and showed me on his sales pamphlets there is no subcontractors and everyone works for leaf filter's. I signed the contract and a couple days later I came home and there was a young gentleman on my roof By him self installing the gutter guards. I then asked him are you the only one and I asked him are you a subcontractor and he said yes he. Do not let the sales rep into your home! About a year ago, I purchased a home and realized I had to fix my gutters. I was putting it off until I saw an ad for leaf filter on tv and thought it was a great idea. After calling and scheduling a free estimate, the sales rep was at my house the next day. I showed him the areas I was concerned about and the work I was interested in getting done. After he did some measurements, he asked if he could come inside. I thought he had to use the restroom or something, so I let him in. Then out of nowhere, he pulls this briefcase out and sends me down this whole sales pitch road about how the company's the best and you'll never have to worry about anything. After the cheesy sales pitch, things became uncomfortable where the rep was aggressive to close the sale. Once I found out how over priced the leaf filter system was, I was not interested in working with this company anymore. He told me that they also restore and install gutters as well. We started talking prices, I told him I wanted to look around, but he was looking to close a sale and deflected any of my concerns or opinions. I called to get an simple estimate, but at the end I felt like I was cornered in my own home with someone trying to sell me a used car. We came to an agreement on a deal, but instead of being happy with my decision, I did not feel comfortable. The work was scheduled for the next day. He said no one had to be home for the work to be completed, but my girlfriend left work early to oversee the job and to make sure there wasn't a problem with the neighbors. I would not recommend this company. The work was done well but the gutters were not inspected as promised resulting in leaf filters placed on gutters that were rusted out. This resulted in filters needing to be removed, new gutters installed, and filters replaced at a $1400 cost. The person who sold the job could not be reached. The only phone number was a warranty number and the person there said someone would contact me. Never did. Terrible service. This job was done for my 94 year old father. Heard nothing but good things. Very impressed with the professional and knowledgeable sales rep that came to provide a quote. Ended up going with the leaf guard system upon a complete remodel and new gutters. Have very mature trees and a cotton wood. Expressed my concern with water running off the guards and even without debris on or in the gutters. I was very nervous about causing more issues even without debris entering the gutters. Was told no worries we refund 100%. Now getting the complete run around from customer service. The issues I am having with water falls on any type of rain day is causing way to many issues with interior water penetration and pooling to an unsafe extent in the exterior. Can not wait to have a ice rink in winter time, maybe I'll just wait for an ice rink at my front entry slip and fall till I elevate this situation... Not worth the headache and worst customer service ever. Stick with cleaning out your gutters. Total joke of a product that may work for the perfect scenario but not for 98% of us... Same experience as other people that left bad reviews. I did not hire them to do gutters. Had an appointment to get a free estimate. When the guy showed up he told me about the product and was about to start measuring when he said "yea we will go inside and I can talk to you and your wife about ordering it today". I replied that my wife wasn't available for this and I just wanted to get the estimate as scheduled and needed to look it over. Numerous comments and statements were made by the salesman that "your wife knows I'm coming right" and was saying we needed to book it now. I told him if I needed to answer right now on the spot that the answer would be no thank you. I told him I needed to compare to another company I have coming out. He said "well we can reschedule for a day when you're ready to make a decision". Well I need your estimate to make the decision. He kept telling me I needed to decide now and that they are closing up for the season. I let him leave and never got the quote he was supposed to give me. LeafFilter is the type of company that you need to approach with a high-energy skill negotiations. I got the rep out and looked at my gutters and I do have about 160' worth of them, and some of them at a height excess of 20'. The initial quote was way too high to "fall for" so when I started the negotiations, I did put my best effort and got a price that is a fraction if I had to do it myself or change my gutters and install one of those Costco products, which I don't trust at all because... it is Costco! The biggest take was that it has lifetime warranty on the leaf system as well as the gutters they have re-aligned and re-positioned. The techs were a father-son team, very nice, helpful, worked the whole time (it took them about 6,5 hours to finish) and they did took care any smaller issues I had. Now, the not so good stuff. - The rep didn't communicate to the technicians what needed to be done and when they showed up and I showed them the specific spots that needed attention, they weren't aware of them. - The technicians showed up to my house before the designated time slot and without giving me the heads up that they are on their way to my house - Once the job was done, LeafFilter doesn't provide the customer with an invoice!!!!!! THAT IS NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL! - The rep never called or emailed me to see if I was satisfied with the job and if everything went well. At the end I want to see how this system performs and if it does what they say it does. Otherwise, I will have them coming out all the time to fix things until it is the way I want it. read more

LeafFilter is the best rated gutter cover system (that was tested) by Consumer Reports (2014). I saw them at the local Home & Garden show in California & scheduled an estimate (it's corporate owned, so the state shouldn't matter). They asked that my wife be present, which was not a good sign. They came out and inspected my gutters & showed me the product. I like it because you cannot see it from the street like other products. The fact that it screens out dust & very small particles doesn't seem that important though. I am concerned about leaves. The rep gave me an estimate of $1800... for 52' of gutter. That is $34 per foot. Ouch. If someone offered me $100 each year for the next 18 years to clean out my gutters I'd take it -- it only takes 20-30 minutes at most to clean them out. So, for me, it simply isn't worth it. Instead I plan to spend $200 at Costco on a similar product and install it myself. Maybe it's not as good as LeafFilter, but I am saving $1600. Worst case I am out $200 (if that product doesn't work) and I hire a local kid to clean them for $30 each year. read more

I was interested in this product for several properties. It wasn't until I dealt with their sales person named Paul that I became completely disinterested. He was rude, walked out in a conversation, and then only came back once he realized I had buying power. I don't recommend this company if they send Paul. read more

We just had the LeafFilter system installed on our 2-story home. The product is fantastic compared with other gutter protection systems on the market. The installation people fixed/repaired our existing gutters and then installed the LeafFilter over the top of it. It's securely fastened and won't let anything (other than water) into the gutter. The mesh is so fine, not even sand can get through the tiny openings. This is great because whirly birds cannot fall into the gutters and grow mini trees. Other gutter guards have openings that are bigger and don't prevent this from happening. Compared to competitor brand gutter "caps", the LeafFilter system can withstand heavy rainstorms. A typical gutter cap that curves around can only handle "light" rain. If you have the gutter caps, heavy rain will just fall over the sides of the gutter. Plus, your gutters still get some leaves and debris. The contractor that installed the LeafFilter was friendly, professional, and always cleaned up after himself. Our particular installer has been doing this for years, so he knew what he was doing. As a added bonus, the product came with a transferrable warranty. So if we ever sell our home, the new owners can call LeafFilter if there are any problems. read more

Disclaimer: We did not have the LeafFilter system installed on our gutters. This review is in regard to the initial sales call. My husband and I were rather unimpressed with the sales pitch for the product. While I do not doubt that LeafFilter works, we were treated poorly. The sales guy who came to show us the product/give us a quote spoke down to us the whole time. When I said I knew what surface tension was (I'm a scientist), he scoffed at me and insinuated that he didn't believe me. Additionally, he essentially tried to scare us into purchasing additional gutters, by saying we were having overflow problems based on markings on the current gutters (we're not & another company found no issue). Furthermore, the system is very expensive. Between the negative feelings we had towards the sales pitch and the expense, we decided not to have the LeafFilter system installed. While I don't doubt that it is a good product, we were very unhappy regarding the service. read more

AVOID LeafFilter Gutter Protection. This is a complete sham operation, interested in doing nothing except taking your money and wasting your time. Immediately after slithering from his brand new Lexus sedan, the salesman took one look at my gutters, and told me that all of my gutters would need to be replaced. When I explained to him that the gutters were only 2 years old, and worked fine, he reached for alternate reasons why his system couldn't be installed on my gutters. He told me I'd need a different "style" of gutter for his system to work, but our gutters are identical to the ones depicted on the LeafFilter website. I had Leaf Filter Install their Gutter Protection on both my House and Garage on March, 30th 2018 following a Work Accident where I am now Permanently Disabled from a Torn Rotator Cuff Injury and having 2 Surgeries on my Right Arm and cannot Clean out my Gutters anymore. This Cost me a Total of $6,045.00 and they have a Lifetime Money back Guarantee Warranty if not Satisfied at anytime and is Transferable if I sell my House. A couple of Months ago I noticed that some of the Covers that were Installed on the West Side of my Garage seemed to be Warping. I got on a Ladder to see what was going on. Some of the Corners of the Covers were sticking up and Leaves and other Garbage were getting into the Gutters. I called Leaf Filter and told me what was going on and they said that they would send a "Tech" to check out the Problem and would call me that Day to let me know what time he was to arrive at my House. I waited about 1 Month for this Appointment and the Day that the he was to arrive I sat around all Day waiting and nobody called or showed up!!! I called them about 5:00 PM to find out what was going on and got their Voicemail and I left them a message to call me back and gave them my Home and Cell Phone Numbers. The next Day came and still nobody called me. I called them again and I finally talked with someone who said that the Person who was supposed to come to my House no longer worked there...SO WHAT??? They Scheduled another appointment about 2 Weeks later and a Guy showed up and after he tried to do some adjusting to the Covers (and I was with him as he was doing this) he said that I needed 5 to 7 Covers Replaced between both the House and Garage. He said that someone would call me to Schedule another Appointment to Replace them the next Day which was on a Friday. Friday came and went and again nobody called. The following Monday nobody still called so I called again, got their Voicemail again this time left them a message that that if this Problem was not fixed soon I wanted my Money back and that I would contact the BBB and I would write some Reviews about their Company that they would not like. I finally got a call back and was told that they would Remove the Gutter Protection System and Refund my Money and I explained that I'm Disabled and just wanted to get it fixed. They made another Appointment, again on a Thursday, and a Guy showed up and again did MORE Adjusting to the Covers on both my House and Garage. He wrote up a Report and told me that there were 1/4' Gaps between the Covers, that Brackets were Missing or Installed Incorrectly, and that both my House and Garage needed to Redone and it should be done within the next Week and someone would call the next Day!!! This time I took a Picture of his Report after I Signed it, which I have, and then Friday came and went and again nobody called. Now I was getting Upset after paying all that Money and now I also have Holes in my all of my Gutters!!! I called them yesterday AGAIN, got their Voicemail again, left them another message, told them what their "Tech" told me, and I mentioned that I also had a Picture of his Report. I still didn't get a Call and luckily I had a email from the Previous Appointment from the Person who made the last Appointment and I sent him an email letting him know what his "Tech" found and that I had the Picture of his Report and he sent me an email asking me what the "Techs" name was???!!! Don't they even know who they sent out to do a Job???!!! I sent him the Picture of the "Techs" Report and I still haven't gotten a call back yet today. I feel that I was Ripped off and I wrote in my last email to them that if they Remove their Gutter Protection System that I want my Refund FIRST and that since my Gutters are now Damaged that they should also be Replaced...again no Call to make an Appointment to have the Gutter Protection System Replaced. I don't write bad reviews often as I appreciate that everyone has an "off day" sometimes. However, my phone experience with this company was atrocious. I called to schedule an estimate and spoke to Leigh. She asked me what time worked best and I said my schedule was relatively flexible and for the most part wide open. She immediately asked when my spouse was available and despite my insistence that I was the primary decision maker for this would only offer me weeknight or weekend appointments I'm guessing because she believed he'd be more likely to be home then. After repeatedly asking for a daytime appointment during the week she told me she would need to talk to her manager and reiterated that they really needed my husband to be home. While I appreciate that they want all decision makers to be involved assuming I have a spouse and that his decision is the most important is offensive.
