The Chicken Fajita Taco. Nice choice.
    Michael B.

One of Texas' best kept secrets is how good the food can be at the gas stations. Off the top of my head, I can think of very good places at these stations that serve hamburgers, Indian food, Tex Mex items, and of course tacos. So when I heard that there's a good taco place inside the CitGo gas station off old 183/Bell Blvd, I had to check it out. The verdict? Not bad! I'd come back in a heartbeat. They're mostly known for their Kaiju-sized mega breakfast taco, but I decided to try the lunch tacos instead. Got the chicken fajita and the carne guisada taco served on a flour tortilla, then grabbed a soda and a seat. (BTW, carne guisada is usually stewed chunks of beef.) Like many of these places, once you order the food, you have to pick up a soda from inside the gas station mart and pay for it at the counter. Seating is basic, it's a couple tables by the drink cabinets, but I'm not fussy. I do appreciate being able to eat a gas station taco somewhere else besides the inside of my car. Both tacos came fresh and hot, quite nice. For my taste both were a little on the bland side, even with some salsa to top it. However, where they shine is in the size - these are VERY packed with meat and I had trouble finishing both of mine. As they say, quantity has a quality all its own, and these had it! This place scores a 4 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either.

We tried the Mega taco, Torta & Al pastor taco. Everything was very good!! My husband is picky about his Al pastor tacos and he loved it. My mega taco was huge. The picture is half of the "taco" because I forgot to take a picture. It is the size of a burrito. The ladies are so friendly. We had a nice chat with them since they were not too busy at 1pm. Fyi, they close at 2pm on week days.

Have the best breakfast tacos I have found in Leander. They also have amazing homeade salsa! 10 out of 10 recommend.

We buy certain seasonings and oils only from TJ's as well as cheese and other items. If I list them all, you'll get bored. I absolutely never leave Trader Joe's without fresh flowers for our apartment. It's a TJ ritual that dates back more than a decade for me. Heck, way back in the day (over a decade) when visiting friends in L.A., I would always get flowers for their places from TJ. Anyway, back to the reason you're reading this-you want to know my thoughts on the location and nothing more. So, as I mentioned I don't like the other store for reasons of chaos. This store gets super busy too but parking is much better since there's a decent lot. It's easy to navigate through the store and get to all our favorite things. Service is always typical TJ friendly. Happy and with smiles. Products and shelves are always in stock and filled. Extremely clean store. It's worth the drive out of the city to the 'burbs for this store location.

While standing in line I struck up a conversation with a couple behind me. The wife had 4 flower bouquets in her arms and her husband had two. I said you guys must be getting ready to go on a flower distribution run. The husband said they are all for my wife and this less than she normally receives on Mother's day. I then said, "Wow you are a great husband!" When it was my turn to pay, the husband said to me that it was so nice of me to give flowers to the seniors that he was going to buy another dozen for them for me to distribute. I was actually a bit stunned because no one has ever been so spontaneously generous. So I grabbed both bouquets of flowers and headed to the independent living center. Because many of the seniors were visiting with their families, only two seniors were there today. So each one got a dozen roses each for Mother's Day. One lady said she had no children and she would not have received any flowers on Mother's Day. Was it divine intervention or kismet? You decide. I was blown away by the circumstances. Today was a giving environment.

I also love their rotating fun and unique items, which make every visit interesting. Grocery shopping here is always enjoyable. I'll definitely be back whenever I'm nearby. Cheers

The selection of cheeses and prepared items on the back wall is excellent and very well priced. Their sourdough bread is very good, and the selection of breads is good in general. They have a relatively new store branded version of "Dave's Killer Bread" in several varieties, and not only is it priced much better but I think it's tastier. The so-called "aisle of shame" sometimes has interesting household and clothing items, so is always fun to look through if you have the time. The store is rarely crowded, but sometimes lines are long to check out. Some of the cashiers are super nice and make the experience more enjoyable.
