I would like to give honorable mention to the lovely and tender-hearted, officer Sanchez…read more.. Late Saturday evening, my husband, our dog, and I were stranded, due to a flat tire. No one we attempted contacting was available to come to our rescue. We had been walking for about an hour, along 1431, hoping someone would see us and stop to help. Some parts of the path we had to take, had barely any shoulder to walk on. Cars were frighteningly close when they passed by us. Mosquitos were feasting on us. I was wearing hard, high heels . My hip joints were aching. You don't realize, when driving, just how steep our hills are here, until you have to walk them. Holy cow! Officer Sanchez pulled onto the shoulder, with light flashing. She asked for our I. d. 's and said "hello" to our dog, who wasn't inhibited at all about showing how happy she was to see her. Plus she didn't mind putting our furry girl into her nice, shiney, black, new police SUV, along side us, for a ride all the way home. She friendly chatted with us, smiling and laughing and sharing opinions about artificial intelligence, among other things. She was kind and respectful to us, from the moment she approached us, until we parted . Thank you officer Sanchez. You're GREAT!

This a police department that respects and is respected by the citizens of Georgetown. Great…read moreofficers, led by a conscientious and caring Chief Nero. Normally don't write these, but after reading the review by the fellow that apparently doesn't like getting caught when he's speeding, I was compelled to stick up for this department. My over 40 years in public health and public safety has exposed me to many public safety agencies, and GPD is one of the best.

A speed trap is not a police car parked behind a billboard, waiting for you to drive by to clock…read moreyou going too fast. Because if the speed limit is clearly posted, then whether you saw the cop or not when you were speeding doesn't matter. A speed trap would be an officer putting something in front of the lower speed limit sign which would lower your speed from 45 to 30 and then stop you because you did not lower your speed. You tell the officer you did not see a lower limit sign. Officer says "tough" and writes you a ticket anyway because he "knows the sign is there". You go back looking for the sign and he shows you where it is, but you cannot see it until you move the tree branch which is hiding the actual speed. Complaining that G'town officers are Horrible and unlawful because you did not see them ahead of time is too bad. I guess you want them to stop at the edge of the highway with their lights flashing so you will have time to slow down. That would be too dangerous. If the speed limit shows 45, the limit is 45 whether an officer is present or not. If you are going 65 because you do not see any police does not mean you are not speeding.

The officer that took my information was very patient, professional, and got all of my information. I had all of the transactions with me. It was plain, and a little humorous: he sorta tried to say that these were hard to prosecute and that there were bigger fish to fry. While he was trying to not tell me, I said that I knew that it wouldn't be solved quickly if at all. I told him, I understood "no DNA in a day". He agreed and seemed a little relieved. I don't blame them cuz There are definitely bigger Fish to Fry.

I live in the Brooklands subdivision just off of CR 137 in Hutto, TX. I told the front desk person that the snake was curled up near our back patio and that I needed an officer to come by. An officer was dispatched to my home and confirmed that indeed the snake was a full-grown adult Western Diamondback rattlesnake. I want to commend the officer and his back-up (I didn't get their names) in the manner they handled the situation. Using appropriate snake-handling tools, the officers calmly took control of the 4-foot rattlesnake and killed it. They fixed the problem of the fully-grown venomous snake in our backyard to my satisfaction. (Note: I DO NOT want a large rattlesnake released anywhere near my family ... I want it dead.) Both officers were polite and professional and exhibited a serious focus in doing a task that's not normally associated with police work. The Hutto Police Department is fortunate to have these two men working as police officers. They are an asset to the department and should be recognized for their proficiency and competence.
