Awesome lesson. Me and my little sister wanted to snowboard when we came to Mammoth this year, so we looked on Yelp for snowboarding lessons soon after we got there. I had gotten snowboarding lessons though the "Mammoth" school or whatever the official Mammoth Mountain lesson group is when I was about 11, and while it was ok, a lot of it was kind of boring and just hearing a random guy tell you "Come on! We're almost there!" like 20 times until you stumbled to the bottom. There wasn't a lot of personal attention as the instructor had 5 other kids to worry about and he didn't really offer any specific tips or pointers.This time we came as adults, so we wanted legit lessons rather than the mass-market diluted stuff. Rick was a great instructor. He was really nice and very patient with us, especially with my sister who had never done it before. He gave us lots of tips specifically for the things me or my sister were doing wrong, and he was always right by one of us as we went down the slopes. He also helped adjust our gear multiple times since the rental shop was super lazy and didn't customize ours (rhymes with Bay S O), and gave advice on what to tell them next time to help prevent that from happening again. Overall awesome lesson, even though we were basically 80 year olds the next day from all the falls. Definitely worth the price, you won't regret it. Thanks Rick!!! read more

Had a great experience with Brock. He took my daughter and 3 of her friends for a ski lesson. They had a great time and they got 2 hours of ski lessons. He said they were ready to zip down the mountain. Then he switched up and gave me a snowboard lesson 1on1 which was great for me. Saved me $$$ of money from doing it at Mammoth private lessons. Honestly 2 hours was good enough for me, since I was exhausted after that. Definitely going to use them again and have referred them to friends going up in April. I think Brock had fun too..LOL Now if I can stop being a chicken I would probably improve faster. Some notes I learned and could be advised to people, is to make sure to get your snowboards or skis tuned/sharpened. I think my edges needed to be sharpened but its not their fault, just recommend customers do it if they haven't before the lesson. read more

We booked a lesson with them and paid for it! was told by a man called Jason that they will call back with the location and name of instructor! we have spent the last 3 days ringing them no answer! We called from a different number which was immediately answered by Jason who said he didn't know anything about it and he was busy teaching someone and put the phone down on us and refused to answer it again!! Fantastic experience! I am beginner/intermediate level and need help working on toe side turns - my instructor was super patient and pointed out things to me that I didn't even realize I was doing! He gave me clear things to continue to practice, which I've been doing each time we come back to Mammoth. This is my best season ever thanks to this lesson and it makes me love our frequent trips from LA to Mammoth even more. Update: The owner contacted me asking if I would take my two-star review down since it was based on bad weather conditions. I don't think he took to time to read my review. He was quick to blame us without even confronting the issue. When I initially called, he said they are on the pricey side because of the quality of the lesson. I wouldn't know because we paid $330 and never received a lesson. You'd be better off going with another company. Less expensive and you will probably even get the lessons you pay for. Now he is saying his instructor claims to only have had 30 minutes to give the lesson so he doesn't know who to believe. I have the texts and call logs to prove that we she had 10:38am - 12:00pm to give the lesson. She just chose not to. I am not asking Learn to Snowboard to issue us a refund for the lessons we NEVER received. I am simply reviewing my experience with this company. read more

Have to agree with the previous review. My son and I also had Jake and he's amazing. If all their instructors are of this level they are well worth booking. He was punctual and his coaching was great. He was very analytical in what was and wasn't working in our techniques. Gave us great tips. Was very patient. Went out the next couple of days and practiced all the advice he gave and now my son is actually on his toes. The service in general is also well done. I called for a private lesson for my son, who is 12 years old. I was contacted by Eric, who said to meet him at ten by gondola. He was there on time and was very helpful. He explained every detail of where he was taking my son and what he would teach him and time to meet back. The 2hr Lesson was so helpful, and my son said Eric was terrific and very patient. He learned more in 2hrs with Eric than he ever did in a full day class at a resort! I would recommend this company! Ask for Eric. read more

Jake was amazing! He taught me and my 2 teenage daughters how to snowboard in 2 hours. They were doing jumps on their first day and turns and confidently going down blues. He gave the so much confidence. He had me actually snowboarding and turning and stopping! We had a great snowboard lesson with Jake in Mammoth this past weekend! He helped the three of us progress in our riding despite our varying abilities. Jake had excellent tips specific to each of us. We all walked (boarded) away feeling we'd achieved a new level of understanding and had drills and techniques we can continue to refine moving forward. My 2 boys ages 6 and 9 have taken a few group lessons at mammoth. Being they both have matured ski wise very close we opted for a 2 hour lesson. In that 2 hours the kids progressed dramatically with the more technical part of the riding. From our initial conversation the process was great. Follow up and response time with 5 stars. Our two kids did 3 sessions of private snowboarding lessons with Jake at Mammoth. He was super patient and had them up and going in no time. They were first timers and loved it. We found Jason in the office great to deal with and Sam our main email contact very professional. We are from Australia and so only had a few days at the resort and wanted to make sure we had something sorted before we arrived. We were completely inexperienced when it comes to skiing and snowboarding. In addition, we were not familiar at all with mammoth. Therefore, I was overwhelmed planning and executing a long weekend for my family. I decided to go with private lessons to get the most out of our time and money. I found these guys and easily arranged a lesson for my two teenagers. Their communication was excellent. As promised, my instructor texted me the day before to confirm our time and meeting spot. He was very helpful and responsive. He was on time and immediately got to work with the kids. They learned a lot and were able to enjoy the remainder of their time hitting the slopes after getting a good foundation with the instructor, Jake. I was glad to avoid dealing with the crazy busy official mammoth mountain lessons and rentals. Not only did I save money, but time and hassle. If you want to learn to ski or snowboard or have your kids learn you have to go with these guys. My 7 year old daughter wanted nothing to do with skiing and as a last ditch effort to get her to love the mountain I contacted the great staff at Learn To Snowboard. From the beginning they were so helpful and easy to work with . My daughter met with Brennen in the morning and he was amazing !!! In 2 hours he had her getting off the lift and skiing down the beginner run . We couldn't believe how she went from not wanting to put her ski boots on to loving skiing . She did several more runs even after the lesson. We loved Brennen so much we booked another lesson with him the next day and my daughter was so confident she was going down new runs that afternoon. Brennen was a wonderful teacher and just what my daughter needed to start the ski journey . I can't say enough how pleased we were with all the staff and company itself .
